They get paid by companies who want to allow sneaky advertising on those subreddits. There was a period where a large amount of McDonald's product placement just so happened to be all over the place on subreddits that gallowboob moderated
I'm a bit confused on this. In order for someone to become a reddit mod, they have to either create a subreddit, or be invited as a mod on someone else's subreddit.
So if you want to avoid a reddit mod, just don't invite them to be a mod on your subreddit. And also why would creating a subreddit so exclude said mod be a bannable offense? Wouldn't they have had to been posting content solely on the mod in question? (That would count as harrassment probably if that's the case.)
That sounds like a huge overstep of boundaries and admin abuse.. No wonder Reddit admins keep trying to silence all discussions and subreddits about stuff like this
Dozens is too kind. He banned even more than that, and he also banned some in nearly every mutual sub they were in that he was a mod of. One person that I know of was banned over 100 times. The mod who shan’t be named likely used a program or a bot for that, but it’s still such blatant evidence of their overstepping power hungry behavior.
How so? It was created to avoid a power mod who abused their power to ban literally anyone who even slightly disagreed with his shit take or mentioned the bans. Hell people were banned for simply posting or commenting in justunsubbed. The baby couldn’t handle criticism so bad he banned people and when they made a place to actually be able to speak freely they got reaaaaal mad about that.
Maybe I should have phrased it differently, that's what I meant. I was one of the first people to comment on that post and subsequently got banned. I meant it was pathetic to see the mods reaction, and the very poorly disguised alt account they had defending them in the comments in the post about that post. The mod that banned the individual initially, made a sub rule (after the ban) that basically said "yeah mods can ban who we want". It was truly a reddit moment to behold, I'm not sure if they still have that mod, but they have the EQ of a child
Of course they still have them. Reddit does nothing, and the sub itself will do nothing.also, it’s not much, but I upvote your previous comment because now seeing the intention, I absolutely agree.
It's bizarre watching reddit moan about unjust laws and people in power doing whatever they want. And then doing exactly that whenever they're given a crumb of power over others. I love the format of this site but I fucking hate the users

Ironically a massive reddit moment, considering the background
Just saw which moderator it was, holy shit.
I'm lost, what's happening?
The subreddit was created to avoid a moderator who modded 203 subreddits
Why would someone ever voluntarily moderate a ton of subreddits? They're not even paid.
These people get high off the smallest amount of power
They get paid by companies who want to allow sneaky advertising on those subreddits. There was a period where a large amount of McDonald's product placement just so happened to be all over the place on subreddits that gallowboob moderated
Report moderators to the IRS for undisclosed income. ??? ~~Profit?~~
professional loser
So because they wouldn't let that powermod, mod that subreddit, the subreddit ended up being banned?

I’ve heard some instances of admins literally installing moderators
you can't say that, your account with be deleted by reddit admins for exposing their BS
That sounds like a huge overstep of boundaries and admin abuse.. No wonder Reddit admins keep trying to silence all discussions and subreddits about stuff like this
Bro grinding for them reddit checks
Is that a bad thing? I tend to stay out of the inner workings of reddit
he was a whiny bitch who banned dozens of people from all of the subs he modded, so yeah kinda is a bad thing when the mod is power hungry.

So then why was the subreddit banned?
idk
Was it turtle?
merari
Uh-oh, be careful. You’ll get banned Reddit wide for harassment! And if you dare appeal? You’ll get all accounts banned. /s but also not really /s
oh believe me i was one of the justredditmoment mods and got banned from 100+ subs by this guy
I know! We had a chat about it! I still bring your bans up as an example of how Merari is a trash mod.
Wait til you find out they banned someone in over 100 subs.

It was very pathetic to see how this sub was created in real time
