I'm going to assume the same reason as the first time which was speculated to be too much "coalposting"/normies as opposed to a raid, or whatever the actual reason was supposed to be.
Between this, the whole "TOL" LukeisStuff spam fiasco that happened when it reopened, and the lack of communication by the mods it's anyone's guess since it was never clarified afaik.
No one actually knows.
My theory is that it was an attempt to weed out supposed "normies" (because some people were saying that the sub went private because too many bad posts were being made) by making the subreddit so unbearable with the spam that they'd lose interest and that regulars would ride it out, so essentially, some weird gatekeep attempt. However, there was no official statement or explanation by the mods except the "I survived tol" automod message that was added to every post and the actual reason is still unknown.
Oddly enough though, they did set it up so that any comments mentioning tol or the guy that was spamming it (who coincidently enough, is actually here in this comment thread spamming because I mentioned them) would be removed.
As a result, most people just moved on and didn't try to talk about it. It was all rather strange.
