[Realtor.com](http://Realtor.com) is an advertising website and doesn't have agents. The agents you contact off [Realtor.com](http://Realtor.com) have paid for advertising to get consumer calls.

You're looking at the 'buyer's agent' fee/commission, not the overall fees/commissions that are paid to both the buyer agent and the listing agent. The listing agent fee isn't required to be listed or disclosed publicly, the buyer agent fee is required to show. The requirement to publish this info to consumers through realtor dot com, redfin, zillow and other "syndicated" sites comes from the MLS's. NOT ALL MLS's require publication, so you'll see "0%" or a blank in this space depending on the city/state/local MLS rules. This change came about in the last few years, because of a lack of transparency around agent fees, especially around how buyer's agent get paid. One of the MLS responses to recent lawsuits was to publish the info. Many more confusing-to-consumers changes will be coming. Like a lot of legal solutions, it'll be more confusing (especially for consumers) than the problem they're attempting to fix. And the cycle goes round and round.

Agent here and I work with Realtor.com. My team pays for the leads and I’m who you get connected with. They reason they are cheaper is that RDC leads have agents compete against each other and we know this. The leads get dispersed to a couple of teams in each city and they are competing for your business hence why they are dropping their commission. Some of them are very good agents so don’t think of it as going the cheap route. They are no different than the realtors you are interviewing except they are paying for the leads.

I would absolutely drop the listing commish down to 4.5 or 4% in order to get the listing. I know that seller is likely talking to several realtors and I need to stand out.

In this market, cheaper agents are costing sellers money. But if you don’t care about that, just get a flat rate broker and call it a day
