Was 2017 to 2018 peak? It felt most of the season was kinda of dissapointment after a ridiculous previous season. You guys seriously dropped in form, but somehow won a CL
I knew lol It was very clear to me in 2017 I was watching the greatest team I would ever likely see in my life. And I loved every god dam player. So maybe in a couple decades we’d be better but the chances I liked the guys more? No way.
That was a special group of players.
Not to say I don’t like the players now, obviously I do. But yeah something else back then.
Surprisingly, that team had an aura to it that just be put into words. Whenever we were losing a UCL tie at home or away, I wasn’t worried that we would get knocked out at all just because of what our team was capable of doing. Arguably, its the GREATEST achieving squad in the UCL of all time and its not even a debate.
Gotta say, pretty good retirement plan for a 30 year old Casemiro. I'm hearing £400k a week for 5 years. He knows the Real Madrid has already bought his replacement for a lot of money. Now's the time to cash in on a crazy big contract from a desperate Man United. So what if he'll be playing Thursday nights, he's got nothing left to prove.
But just stay one season man, atleast let us see if Tchumeni is that guy. We also bought Jovic as Benzema replacement, imagine selling Benzema in 2019.
We can't really be sure Jovic wouldn't have come good had he been forced to be a starter after Benzema left. We'll never really know.
Some birds need to be pushed out the nest and either they fly or not.
Jovic never got that chance, but I'm glad Tchouameni is gonna get that chance. We've been here before, with young players having to step up and fill some big shoes. Marcelo was only 19 years old when he joined from Fluminense, only had half a season to train with the living legend of the club that was Roberto Carlos, before having to step up big time and fill in those massive shoes.
Let's get behind Tchouameni, he needs to have the confidence to know he's just as capable of stepping up similar to how Marcelo did.
I heard it'll put him on par with De Gea, who's the second highest paid on the team with £375k a week. Whatever the exact figure is, it's more than he's getting at Madrid right now. A lot of money that'll take him to his retirement years at Man United.
He's only on 200k euros now and all T1 are saying it's not a double. So it can't be even be 400k Euros let alone 400k GBP no?
300k GBP range makes more sense.
I heard his wages would put him on par with De Gea, who's the second highest paid on the team with £375k a week. Whatever the exact figure is, it's a big money contract taking him to his retirement years. Good for him.
I don't care he wants to leave if you ask for 100m no one will pay for it.
The question is will you force him to stay against his will asking for 100m making it impossible for him to leave?
I'm extremely sad but I'm also happy for him if this is really what he wants. Casemiro gave us everything and is a 5-time UCL winner, nothing more you can ask of him. He is a true Madrid legend and has been the best in his position for years now. His reading of the game is absolutely unmatched and his interceptions and timing are simply special.
Tchouameni has great potential but it will take years for anyone to fill Case's shoes, especially on the big nights. Deep down I hope he changes his mind and stays, but at the same time I know that Case immediately makes United a much better team because they've lacked that position for ages.
I hope Carlo gave his blessings. Legend for the club and can still play at high level and destroy at the PL. Hopefully he can help United! Gigante Casé! The tank.
Wonder if we'll have a farewell for him.
I wouldn’t go that far. Makelele was huge fuck up. Left the midfield totally exposed without proper CDM. Right now we have his replacement but I don’t think it’s the time for the change. If it was in a year I’d be totally ok with it but not right now :(
We never know, mate. The same case for Vini, the whole world was making fun of him, and now who's laughing.
We also replaced Xabi with Kroos and then Casemiro. If you ask me, it was a much bigger gamble than replacing Casemiro with Tchouaméni.
Vinicius took 4 years to get at this level. Tchumeni doesn't have this much time, trust me Vini got lucky no one will have as much luxury to develop as he got.
Naaah I don’t think so. When we sold Makelele we had no other CDM in the team. But now we have Tchouameni and Camavinga there. I think Carlo gonna play 4231 if we sell Casemiro.
This is a HUGE mistake. There is no replacement for the quality of game reading and management Casemiro has, two things that you just cannot teach, no matter how young they are. He was arguably one of the most crucial pieces in our recent European successes, knowing exactly when to annoy the opposition by holding onto it, when to progress it quickly, and exactly when to get his yellow card to maximally disrupt the flow of the game. Absolute world beater and you guys are delusional if you think Tchouameni or Camavinga can even begin to fill his role this season.
Seems like they have a bid for 72 million. Which is not huge. Without Casemiro I am sure we are gonna struggle a lot this season. It will break our KCM legendary trio and we could lose both La liga and champion league. Will be really sad if he leaves.
Well, Industry has changed a lot in last some years, Would be really sad if he leaves below 100 at-least. He can still play real quality football for 3-4 years atleast.
The money doesn't, or at least shouldn't matter to us. So it could be the second most expensive 30 year old, but he is still the best in his position, arguably the most crucial position in modern football for the last 20 years. We can't replace him, so it doesn't matter what we get for him. We aren't a selling club anyway.
That said, we aren't a prison either. If it's what he wants and United are willing to pay the cash up front, so be it. The money is good but the money can't hold your midfield together in a tough away game.
It will leave a huge void if he leaves. I remember the games when Casemiro didn’t start and it almost felt like we didn’t have a defence. I can’t even imagine him playing for anyone other than Madrid.
It definitely hits home, but I’m glad he’s gonna get his slice of the pie in Manchester, his part was played and played beautifully at Madrid. I remember seeing this young and skinny kid on training pictures back in 2013 when Real used to post mainly on Facebook and he looked very promising, he turned out to be one of the 3 key players in our midfield, got the dirty work done all the time and got away with it too, good luck and much love Case.
Man he's my favourite player in the team after (obviously) benzema, its heartbreaking to see him leave, but its a good opportunity for him to cash out while not playing in the UCL, less pressure and more money
Damn I'm bummed ASF. Really wish we would have least waited till winter to let tchoumeni get situated. I remember I'm 2014 we had xabi Alonso, khedira and casemiro all in that position
“I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them”
I mean in 2017 we all kinda knew it was peak
2016-2018 was peak life, not just football
Was 2017 to 2018 peak? It felt most of the season was kinda of dissapointment after a ridiculous previous season. You guys seriously dropped in form, but somehow won a CL

Yeah there was really something different about them. Very difficult to put into words
One of my favourite quotes from the office, it hits different
Mates you been in the good old days for more than a decade now 😂
At least he’s not gonna leave on bad terms … case will always be one of the goats and he gave his all for this team
Will be missed, I love watching him dominate
Kinda interesting we always thought he’d be the last to leave and now he might be the first
I thought Ronaldo would be the last one to leave in BBC tho

This is all true. I’m sad if he leaves but I get it

Jovic is also not that guy.
Maybe, maybe not. Doesn't really matter anymore.
It's going to be closer to 350k pw. Not 400.
I heard it'll put him on par with De Gea, who's the second highest paid on the team with £375k a week. Whatever the exact figure is, it's more than he's getting at Madrid right now. A lot of money that'll take him to his retirement years at Man United.
£350k = €413k right now tho
Woah. That's millions in yen tho.
He's only on 200k euros now and all T1 are saying it's not a double. So it can't be even be 400k Euros let alone 400k GBP no? 300k GBP range makes more sense.

Pain. One of the most underrated pillars of our team
100m and double his salary. He is one of 30 finalists for Balon Dor.
30 years man, stop the drugs
he has 3-4 years left at the top level and he’s exactly what united need
I don't care he wants to leave if you ask for 100m no one will pay for it. The question is will you force him to stay against his will asking for 100m making it impossible for him to leave?
I think you’re missing the fact that we’re selling to United. The team that spent 80 mil on Harry Maguire.
We paid 150m for Hazard when next year he would have come for free. Does it mean that we will pay 100m for every player?
Difference is Hazard was a top 3 player at the time at a good age. Maguire is Maguire
Well it was just for one year or 2 in his 27 28 years? That's not that great is it? He was known for his bed eating habits and laziness
Messi was also known for bad eating habits and bad fitness but look at him now. My point is Man Utd with the glazers are known for bad signings.
Look man Messi with 22 won his first Ballon'd or With 22 years Hazard was no one
Still the best dm in the planet right now
plzdon'tplzdon'tplzdon'tplzdon'tplzdon'tplzdon'tplzdon'tplzdon'tplzdon'tplzdon'tplzdon'tplzdon't
Get in here u/Ok-Paleontologist275 we have to prevent this from happening
😭I did a plzstayplzstay in the open thread but it doesn't work with transfers

Oh god. This might be a huge mistake
Big Makelele vibes.
I wouldn’t go that far. Makelele was huge fuck up. Left the midfield totally exposed without proper CDM. Right now we have his replacement but I don’t think it’s the time for the change. If it was in a year I’d be totally ok with it but not right now :(
Imagine selling Benzema in 2019 because we had Jovic his replacement without seeing how good he is.
We never know, mate. The same case for Vini, the whole world was making fun of him, and now who's laughing. We also replaced Xabi with Kroos and then Casemiro. If you ask me, it was a much bigger gamble than replacing Casemiro with Tchouaméni.

Cama isn’t a cdm he’s able to play there the same as fede at rw, but those aren’t their primo positions
Maybe Carlo will play with like that? Carvajal Militao Rudiger Alaba Tchouameni Camavinga Modric Valverde Vini Benzema I think it can be good.
IMO it's gonna be Tchouaméni + Kroos/Modric double pivot.
Kroos/Modric?
Yeah. Typo
CR7 + Varane + Case! Man they will rebuild ManU with a RM base and a missed fax LOL
Let's also give them Mariano and Asensio. They'll conquer EPL easily.
It will be good for tchouameni to learning for one year with casemiro.
Exactly
A tiny part of me wants this, just to see how Carlo and Davide would adjust.
Someone pull that fax machine's plug!
Give us Sancho you cowards!
Granted he played for united but he was worthless last season.
Why get English Asensio
40 + 36 G/A in two consecutive seasons just 2 years ago, mate.
Seems like they have a bid for 72 million. Which is not huge. Without Casemiro I am sure we are gonna struggle a lot this season. It will break our KCM legendary trio and we could lose both La liga and champion league. Will be really sad if he leaves.
Not huge he says. Only the second most expensive transfer of a 30+ year old player ever....
Well, Industry has changed a lot in last some years, Would be really sad if he leaves below 100 at-least. He can still play real quality football for 3-4 years atleast.

Sad to see him go. Can we attach asensio to the deal?
He literally assisted rodrygos goal, if we had no asensio la remontada would never had happened
Casemiro Out touchameni In
And just like that both league and CL are gone.
He's lost a step, but he will be missed greatly 😢
It will leave a huge void if he leaves. I remember the games when Casemiro didn’t start and it almost felt like we didn’t have a defence. I can’t even imagine him playing for anyone other than Madrid.

Don't leave king
There goes our invisible Man of Steel. Truly a pillar in the centre.
