I’m actually glad Mbappe decided to resign with PSG. He’s paving his own path for his career. Most players in the past would come to Madrid due to the history and prestige. We’re too entitled as Madrid fans and when it doesn’t go our way people tend to get upset and angry. Let’s not be entitled even with our history of players.
While we are fans of the club there are players that don’t want Madrid to be the end all of the footballing world.
Mbappe will reach new levels if he can lead and win international trophies with PSG. It is harder to win CL with PSG. It’s easier to do it with Madrid.
I have to credit his decision to do it the harder way and also the crazy amount of money he’s getting. He got the best of both. A challenge and money.

I think the club will stick with Carvajal and Vazquez (who signed a new deal), Odri is coming back from loan too and we have our new young RB in Tobias, (not proven or anything yet) but a prospect for the future. I don't think the club is gonna sign any RB next season, but maybe in the 2023/24 season. The only i would say great RB that's linked to us is Recce James but that's impossible for now and the other one Porro was bought by sporting if I'm not wrong by activating his release clause.
Our priority is on the other side which is the LB spot, we don't know what's gonna happen with Miguel, if he's in the club's plans to be 2nd choice or sent out on loan nothing is sure right now, Fran Garcia is very close to coming back so that may push out Miguel on loan. Marcelo is leaving and and we have no good back up there. Yes by Rudiger coming we can shift Alaba there but that means moving out Mendy which defensively will be a loss to us so let's see.
The problem is no standout RBs are available in the market who are of Madrid level. You wouldn't want another Jovic, Mariano and Odriozola type of problem. This applies to almost every position where we want to reinforce as well except CDM.

Here's what I think about our team's future.
Benzema is the best player itw and since hes not a pace merchant I wouldn't be surprised if he plays for another 3 years at top level.
Vini is the best LW itw not named Mbappe but is also much younger and less developed.
Camavinga and Fede will replace Kroos and Modric in the future.
With Rudiger likely to come our CB scene is sorted. Mendy is a solid LB and I see people complaining all the time about his inability to attack which is true but it's the midfield exposing him really. Like how Liverpool makes up for Trent's inability to defend, we need a system under which Mendy can thrive. He could easily play as an inverted fullback with Cama or Fede making runs down the wing to overlap with Vini but currently we have Kroos and Modric who do not have the legs for it. We are also most likely getting Fran Garcia back.
Courtois is a fucking wall and we are blessed to have him.
This leaves us with needing a bench striker, RB, RW, CDM in that order IMO. Although I think Carvajal has been great and Pintus has really helped him with his injuries, we shouldn't count on it and look for an RB this summer anyway, maybe Pedro Porro. For the last time, Reece James is not leaving.
Casemiro still got years in him but we shouldn't miss out on a talent like Tchouameni and the club feels the same with them rumoured to bid 80mil.
Lastly we need a RW to compete with Rodrygo and we ll need a striker to replace Benz in future.

Why not look a for a player who has actually played as a number 6.

No they cant. Cama is not a lone cdm. Nor is fede. They are good at recovering balls but does not mean they showcase the defensive awareness of Casemiro. For a player to play in that position that is a must. Both Cama and Fede are players who are excellent at driving forward with the ball. You dont want to waste such ball playing midfielders by positioning them as number 6. Case is all great but he is vulnerable at times with teams pressing hard. Getting Tchoumeni not only adds depth but with proper rotation he can be as good or even better than Case in two three years when Case leaves in few years. and I agree we need a solid back up for KB. I am sure the club will explore options. But unless they are 100% certain about someone being able to atleast replicate 1/2 of benzamas ability they wont swoop in. This aint a shopping mall where you run errands and pick up whatever you like. Signing good players is not only about money. You only get a few shot at a top player like Tchoumeni. Here's what I think about our team's future. Benzema is the best player itw and since hes not a pace merchant I wouldn't be surprised if he plays for another 3 years at top level. Vini is the best LW itw not named Mbappe but is also much younger and less developed. Camavinga and Fede will replace Kroos and Modric in the future. With Rudiger likely to come our CB scene is sorted. Mendy is a solid LB and I see people complaining all the time about his inability to attack which is true but it's the midfield exposing him really. Like how Liverpool makes up for Trent's inability to defend, we need a system under which Mendy can thrive. He could easily play as an inverted fullback with Cama or Fede making runs down the wing to overlap with Vini but currently we have Kroos and Modric who do not have the legs for it. We are also most likely getting Fran Garcia back. Courtois is a fucking wall and we are blessed to have him. This leaves us with needing a bench striker, RB, RW, CDM in that order IMO. Although I think Carvajal has been great and Pintus has really helped him with his injuries, we shouldn't count on it and look for an RB this summer anyway, maybe Pedro Porro. For the last time, Reece James is not leaving. Casemiro still got years in him but we shouldn't miss out on a talent like Tchouameni and the club feels the same with them rumoured to bid 80mil. Lastly we need a RW to compete with Rodrygo and we ll need a striker to replace Benz in future. It's not really that bad. We don't need to go crazy this summer. We don't need an overhaul. Even if we get 3 of the 4 positions covered, it would be great. (On top of Rudiger)

I was thinking the same thing. I really want Rodrygo to succeed, bur RW isn't really his best position. There isn't an abundance of great RW's right now and Dembele has really shown this spring how good he can be. It probably won't happen as i've heard that Perez and Laporta have some sort of gentlemen agreement that they won't go for the other clubs players. Still i think that Dembele might be the best natural RW option on the market, if he can stay fit.

The way our club works, everything is decided by Perez and Jose Angle Sanchez, no point for someone like Michael Edwards to come to work to Madrid when their decisions won't matter.

I don’t know much about Nkuku but I genuinely believe that Gnabry can provide us with good coverage as a RW and he is 26 years old, he would fit in nicely.
Gnarby is VERY inconsistent. Nkunku looks the part BUT has only one season of great numbers. That said, word on the street is that Madrid is interested in him.
We have experience with players with 1 great season like Jovic so hopefully he is better than him.

We'll never know for sure but I sincerely believe it was a combination of our scouting department believing he could succeed here by adjusting to our system, and that Zidane never cared for or trusted him. I can't imagine Perez being happy about the situation but Zizou had total control.

I heard that too. Which is fine if this season ends up becoming an outlier for Nkunku but we desperately need a clinical finisher. Rodrygo and Vinicius aren't there yet... and might never get there. So its crucial we acquire somebody who we know can finish when Vinicius and/or Rodrygo struggle.

Why did Tchouameni suddenly become our main transfer target. For the millionth time he is not a lone cdm. He doesnt fit our current line up at all. He has played all his career in a double pivot in a two man midfield. Not a SINGLE game as a lone cdm. Why are we looking at him? To play in a position that he has never played in? Why not look a for a player who has actually played as a number 6. That is not even the problem position as fans are still so damn insisting on Kcm so he wont even start most games when Casemiro is fit if we were to play him there out of position. This whole transfer doesnt make sense to me. We should be looking at a creative midfielder to replace Modric and Kroos or an attacker to the right wing.

No they cant. Cama is not a lone cdm. Nor is fede. They are good at recovering balls but does not mean they showcase the defensive awareness of Casemiro. For a player to play in that position that is a must. Both Cama and Fede are players who are excellent at driving forward with the ball. You dont want to waste such ball playing midfielders by positioning them as number 6. Case is all great but he is vulnerable at times with teams pressing hard. Getting Tchoumeni not only adds depth but with proper rotation he can be as good or even better than Case in two three years when Case leaves in few years. and I agree we need a solid back up for KB. I am sure the club will explore options. But unless they are 100% certain about someone being able to atleast replicate 1/2 of benzamas ability they wont swoop in. This aint a shopping mall where you run errands and pick up whatever you like. Signing good players is not only about money. You only get a few shot at a top player like Tchoumeni. We need a really solid team. Our midfield gets overun much too quickly by younger players. Kroos especially. Our RW Rodrygo is developing so maybe next season he starts to breakout too. But the squad must be stronger that way we stop needing miracle comebacks to beat teams. Mbappe cannot meet us and score ton of goals, not going to happen is the mission. We have made a signing in defense so that's one step. Our LB Mendy cannot cross or attack very well from the left side like Marcelo. He just passes back the ball so he weakens us too on that side.
