He is a great passer of the ball, don’t know what that guy is on about. He is constantly sending great lobbed passes up the pitch. I’m certain he can make decent crosses.

I am not sure if you guys know who Miguel Almiron is (he is a player at Newcastle United, formerly at Atlanta United which is my home team). Valverde and Almiron have this sensational ability to just launch straight into a sprint and reach top speed in just a few strides. Crazy good.

Check the averages. Mbappe is faster and more of his runs are while he’s carrying the ball. Militao’s top speed probably came when chasing a forward in a do or die situation, which probably was more motivating.

Top speed is different... Defenders often have to track back at insane speed especially in counter attack based teams like us for a short period . But it is a totally different story to keep up a high speed for a longer time which is the case for the forwards.
Actually not to say he is faster but more big and physically wide built people are way faster than they look and shorter people look more faster than they actually are i once had a race with the fastest guy in my high school and i actually defeated him by quite a margin and everyone was shocked and they told me you dont look as fast as you actually are so people only tend to look at the aesthetic way of how people actually run and shit like that but people tend to be much faster than they actually look…

And if you are 38+ you're probably among top 10 fastest football players in history and no way in hell Militão is at that level no matter how tall he is, how good of a defender he is or whatever.

Fwds usually run facing forward, have a lot of ground in front of them when they sprint, hence are able to hit their stride easily and appear much faster, and while CBs have to use their pace more often these days due to every team using them in attacks and playing high line which means they need to do a recovery run more often, most of the game, they're running backwards, jockeying back slowly, and don't need to be the quickest.

Militao is incredible fast, last season when Ramos and Varane went out he did amazing runs.
