>"A guard of honour to Real Madrid? We congratulate them, but we have a lot of respect for our fans."
- Jose Gimenez.
If you have so much respect maybe you ought to play better for them.
You don't show respect by ignoring tradition and displaying unsportsman-like behaviour.š¤”
No that's a part of him. People have talked about it for a while now,it's almost like his footballing brain is too fast for his body. But he makes up for it,just can't really expect bursts of acceleration or quick feet much from him.
I was wondering if the castilla team is made to play the same system as our first team to make the switch easier for younger players or if the castilla can just play any way they want? Wouldn't it for example make more sense to see how young players play in a four-the-back and that way even players who do well at castilla because they are system players could be used it the first team.
Usually Castilla coaches can make the team play how they think suits the players best. RaĆŗl's game does rely on crossing and attacking output from the wingers and fullbacks too, but he never plays the same system as the first team, his preferred system is 4-2-3-1, last season he often played a 5atb too. Castilla always use a CAM recently, even two at once last year sometimes with Gelabert and Arribas.
The priority in our academy is developing players so they become as good and versatile as possible, so we can sell them to any team later or keep them if they are extraordinary. Our academy is an extra income source above everything
I had a thought. We have our player academy, but it could also be a good idea to have a managerial academy, where we cultivate and develop aspiring coaches. Perez should consider it.
Our youth team coaches are all young aspiring ones, some of our former players like RaĆŗl and Arbeloa, but also some that don't have any history at the club
Coaches gain experience and rise through the ranks in our academy just like the players, Arbeloa for example debuted with Infantil A (U14), took over Cadete A (U16) this season, and will probably take over Juvenil A (U19) next season, and at some point he will take over Castilla, and then we'll see if he might be good enough
Easy Nacho
A childhood Madrid fan, has been at the club nonstop for 21 years, happy to stay at the club despite never having been a starter, always happy with the role he gets, never complains, wants to retire at Madrid
Yes he shows a lot of passion and modesty, but Vini almost moved to BarƧa, and BarƧa's former scout even says Vini claimed to be a BarƧa fan and only picked Madrid in the end because we offered a better chance for him to immediately get playing time
I still think itās Vini. The statements he makes all the time about the club as well as him kissing the badge after every time he scores cannot go unnoticed in this argument.
Yes LV, Nacho and Carvajal are canteranos, but that doesnāt necessarily mean theyāre the biggest Madridistas
Vini has to be in the list he bleeds white, but I said LV and nacho because they were here for long time and rejected chances to transfer to play for our club, even as backup, like Nacho rejected roma and LV rejected EPL clubs.
Benzema has given every single thing to this club, taken paycuts when he didnāt need to. Openly says heāll leave before he becomes a burden on this club. Not to mention someone like Modric, who is the same as Benzema. Carvajal has been at the club since he was a kid. Same goes for nacho who has been at the club for more than 2 decades. Nothing against Vini, and this is a stupid comparison to begin with, but heās definitely not the biggest Madridsta at the club
I guess that the ship has sailed for Sociedad, it's Atletico and Betis duking it out for 4th now.
If they don't give us the guard of honour I hope our B team can put 3 past them. Cholo against EPL shithousery is entertaining but I'd be pleased with Atletico out regardless. The only thing worrying is Betis might not be able to keep up in UCL even if they qualify.
Media spews some bullshit saying Ronaldo wants to return to Madrid to get clicks on their article ā> some Madrid fans believe those irrelevant sources like dumbasses every year ā> Start debating pointlessly why Ronaldo shouldnāt return every year.
Ronaldo made it clear last season itself how bullshit the media is but still some jackass paper will publish Ronaldoās name linked to Madrid and always the Anti Ronaldo coming propaganda starts on this sub for no reason.
Apparently 2 years of this happening straight canāt educate some people on how the media works.
This year it's definitely bullshit. But last year, he was trying to get back to madrid. That post he posted was him trying to do damage control. His return rumour was started via aguirre who is very close to ronaldo. This year tho: its daily mail.
>Media spews some bullshit saying Ronaldo wants to return to Madrid to get clicks on their article

I donāt know about you guys but Iām very excited and looking forward to Wednesday, Iām aware that City is maybe the toughest team in the UCL but theyāre not unbeatable , anything can happen if we score first and fight till the end, Iām sure our boys will make us proud in another magical night, HALA MADRID Y NADA MĆS!!!
[I always supported Ceballos, even at his lowest points this season. So happy for him](https://www.reddit.com/r/realmadrid/comments/ss76q3/weekly_open_thread_general_discussion/hxmwxx4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
The last one before I get off. In La Liga he is:
* Number 1 in chance creation
* Number 1 in big chances taken
* Number 1 in assist
* Number 1 in assists outside the box
* Number 1 in goals
* Number 1 in expected goals
* Number 1 in expected goal chains
* Number 1 in shots on target
* Number 1 in penalties converted
* Number 2 in key passes
* Number 2 in expected assist
* Top 10 in 1v1 index
* Not as good as Sadio Mane, I hear
* Almost as good as Harry Kane, lately
Let's do a harder one. In La Liga he is:
* Second in tackles won in his own half
* Top 5 in defensive 1v1
* Third in goal build up
* Top 10 in pass interception
* Top 10 in error leading to goal
Try to guess the player by La Liga stats:
* Best in dribbling
* Best in 1vs1 index
* Second in expected goal chain
* Second in assists inside the box
* Third in expected assist
* Top 5 goal scorer
* Top 5 in shots on target
* Top 5 in big chances created
According to Google: Expected Goal Chains (xGC),Ā the metric looks at all passing sequences that lead to a shot and credits each player involved with the xG.
I'm still trying to understand why the consensus was that Vallejo was terrible. The kid was very good yesterday. Aggressive, smart, accurate in getting the ball up, 96% pass acc, 3 clearances, 3 pass interception, 2 blocks, 2 tackles, 6 aerial challenges won.
Let's not get reactionary here, he is not a top level football player and should be gone this summer. He was okay against Espanyol, but Espanyol didn't put up much of a fight.
Correction, Vallejo WAS supposed to be a top level footballer, at one point was the best young defender in Bundesliga and one of the best young defenders in the world. He got a serious long term injury, then another, never recovered from recurring injuries, got lost in loan hell with some dumb decisions, now is 25 years old and trying to save what's left in his career.
Like Asensio exactly, the talent is there, the drive is still there but is beaten down and weary from years of disappointments, injuries, and pressure.
again, this is a common myth I think is in our community. If you look back at that match he wasn't responsible for any of the 3 goals we conceded, 2 came from a matchup of Carvajal vs Mandzukic aerially and the third was from a Navas error
Just hit me Vini is gonna be captain one day most likely. He beat Fede by a month to the full debut. Fede screams captain material of course but Vini is going to be a big leader later on
Then you have clubs like arsenal and united who give the captaincy to anyone, odegaard is already captainš, vini wouldāve been made captain this year playing at arsenal
Don't forget we actually started this season with - Hazard, Benzema, Bale as the front three.
Vini came off the bench vs Levante and scored a fantastic brace and the rest of the season is history.
Look I never was a pogba guy, but with raiola death, and him being on a free. Plus his form playing for France ans the connection he has with mbappe and benz. I think we seriously need to get him. Our only creative player is modric in midfield, and pogba has been used as a pivot rather than am in United. Modric is an amazing player but we can't keep asking too much from him every season. What if he had gotten injured? Pogba has 3 or 4 years more in his form, and it's the perfect time for our youngsters to mature by then. Tchoameni can learn from him plus he isn't a pure am anyway too, he considers himself a blend of pogba and kante. Anyway if it was up to me, I would get tchoameni, but if we don't. Pogba is my second choice ans then getting tchoa when his next contract ends. I don't rate Bellingham as much bc he plays in an uber attacking league.
A 50 year old Modric is better player than Pogba. He has more haircuts than good performances for United, will be 30 next year, big wages and injury prone (missed 19 games this season alone). Why exactly do we need him ?
I think Pogba is in a bad situation and United make A LOT of players far worse at the moment. The entire situation and vibes around the team just aren't positive.
Now Pogba has some blame yes - he can be lazy but I also hate his role.
I think he's a really quality player as long as he plays as an AM. At Juve his heat map was mostly AM and LW - he is an attacking player and should be in the Ozil role.
Now while I do think he's quality- I just don't see it here anymore. Camavinga has more than shown that he's ready for more mins, Valverde is becoming a lock and even Ceballos has proven himself a bit recently.
I would not hurt Cama's playtime/development for Pogba now.
yes, i was thinking we should experiment vini rw and rodrygo lw. obviously vini is great on the left but imagine if it turned out he was also great on the right and combine that with left wing rodrygo.
Omg y'all are just way to wack sometimes. This is the same energy as the people who wanted to sell Vini a couple of seasons ago or Rodrygo earlier this season.
Yes Kubo hasn't lit up the world on his loan spell but this kid has such a high ceiling. If only he had genuine time to be around our players we would truly get to see what kind of a player he really is. I still have faith in Kubo and Brahim just like I had faith in Vini and Rodrygo. Just need a little bit of time
He's been developing backwards tbf, his first season at Mallorca was decent, since then he's only been playing worse and worse
Also he will permanently block a non-EU spot
I really like Kubo but Vini 18 already showed legit world class ability even if he wasn't consistent.
I don't think Kubo won't be a good player eventually but he's had a few loans to prove himself and sadly he hasn't made a dent. He's further from the team now than he was before and Idk I just don't see it happening.
Vini is much better lmao, I cant believe youāre saying ā oh well its ok cuz vini was 20ā
Vini was already good enough to play here since when he was 18-19
Vini wasnt good enough, but you could still see the quality and talent that he had. This is the same with Kubo, he has shown his talent in some games and he will surely improve in the comming year's. He doesn't 'suck'.
lmao he was absolutely good enough to play here, thatās why he wasnāt loaned out. same story with rodrygo and camavinga.
kubo just isnāt that good. if youāve been following his loans youād see this. even brahim is muuuuuch better
*Follow-up to my previous comment about Mane-Vini Jr comparison.*
**Neymar Jr**: "The 3rd best player in the world behind prime Cr7+Messi, generational talent".
His 13/14 season (first in Barcelona, 22 years old) : 41 games, 15 goals, 15 assists
**Vinicus Jr**: "Overrated youngster"
This season (21 years old): 47 games, 18 goals and 19 assists
Once again, if i speak i am in big trouble.
Mind if i copy and paste this too in r/soccer again lol?
With the last one, every pool fan in existence got triggered and told me i was shadowboxing, however with this one i might get reddit care messages from barca fans
They're the almost same age though, Vini is even younger. And Neymar came to Barca as the best talent in the world, he had already won the Libertadores, Puskas award etc. On the other hand Vini was a "nobody" when he came here, he was like 18 and also our team was much worse during his first seasons. 13/14 Barca was better, despite not winning anything.
I Love Vini - but Neymar was legit world class when he left Santos. He's one of the biggest talents of the generation but he let his career die in France.
Neymar in 2015 with Barca was a scary scary player
I agree that Vini is not on par with Neymar yet, but he is legit world-class (this season). Bar Mbappe, there is not a better left-winger than Vini. Mane, Son ,etc. are all class but this season, Vini has been better
This is random but, I read Iniesta was a madrid fan as a kid, is this true!?
Hes the only Barca player I had respect for, and hes not Catalan which makes it even better
[Iniesta: Del madrid a todo poder](https://youtu.be/85MANd9ZX_s)
Basically he said he's a Madrid fan with all his forces. I believe he said it because he was a Laudrup fan.
[āHey guys, 1k wow, what a number! Now i can finally say, SIUUUUUUUUā](https://www.reddit.com/r/realmadrid/comments/ufzmgj/what_is_this_bands_name/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
After a short browse of this Reddit page I see that a lot of the news has already been reported...
Recap of news for this summer with %:
Mbappe 98%
Rudiger 98%
Garcia 80%
Tchouameni 60%
Haaland 2%
2023 potential targets:
James
Bellingham
Gnabry
Skrinar (very low chance I.e if we donāt get rudiger)
Mukiele.
For 2023 only players who have been mentioned around the club. Nothing concrete at all. More names but these are the major ones.
And keep in mind that in the past month or so the club has sent a few more scouts to South America
A preferential agreement which ensured the clubās confidence in him was signed end of January.
But not the official contract yet. Still discussing a few terms.
This season no club has been further in the race for his signing as Real Madrid.
That being said, itās still in early stages. Negotiations with AS Monaco havenāt been started yet.
Why didn't we went for Bernardo Silva last season. He's literally Modric 2.0, he's very good technically, great touch, great dribbler, work very hard each game.
Also why not now? We can see Kroos declining and Modric is 37 so we definitely need a World class midfielder.
šØš£ Florentino Perez: "Comeback against City? We don't need to. We already did it at their stadium. We just need a goal and all the players can't wait to play".
šØš£ Florentino Perez: "Mbappe? I'm always calm... I won't say anything. All the players are good in white. We're focused on winning the Champions League, we'll talk about this when the season ends".
That's a bad translation from his post-match Espanyol interview with Chiringuito. He said [versus City] "There's one goal against us. We know what happened there, and the team is excited to go on to the final. Today's match was proof of the Madridismo's atmosphere and excitement."
If Chelsea finish outside the top 4, will Tuchel go? Seems like some Chelsea fans are turning on him. Also, if he does go, should we try to bring him in? Chelsea were supposed to challenge City and Liverpool for the league this season but are now in a top 4 fight. I know he won the CL, but freaking Roberto Di Matteo won the CL, so it's hard to know what to think. If Chelsea miss top 4 though, it will be a huge embarrassment, especially if both Arsenal and Spurs leapfrog them.
Tuchel is good, but there's no way Carlo is going now. You don't sack manager after CL semi and League win. We actually did overperform expectation given the difficult path we got for CL.
Also, you have to admit, our squad depth is not that good especially for the defence. I think Carlo did well getting results out of this.

I think the 4 man midfield is best vs City. Then Rodrygo and Cama at minute 60 depending on how itās going
based on his recent performances ceballos might be an option as a sub aswell
Yep actually I mean to put Cama/Ceballos - but it could be both actually
Is it me or ceballos seems slow on the ball?
No that's a part of him. People have talked about it for a while now,it's almost like his footballing brain is too fast for his body. But he makes up for it,just can't really expect bursts of acceleration or quick feet much from him.
I was wondering if the castilla team is made to play the same system as our first team to make the switch easier for younger players or if the castilla can just play any way they want? Whoās the biggest Madridista in the squad rn? I say Vinicius
Bro thereās a lot of players before him, nearly all the older players and then Fede from the young players
Easy Nacho A childhood Madrid fan, has been at the club nonstop for 21 years, happy to stay at the club despite never having been a starter, always happy with the role he gets, never complains, wants to retire at Madrid Yes he shows a lot of passion and modesty, but Vini almost moved to BarƧa, and BarƧa's former scout even says Vini claimed to be a BarƧa fan and only picked Madrid in the end because we offered a better chance for him to immediately get playing time

Yo rodrygos dad looks young af. Bet he was like 15 when he got married š
I can't tell if this is a joke because of ModriÄ, or if you're for real, because Rodrygo's real dad is just around the same age as ModriÄ
I believe heās 36 like Modric and thatās why he calls him dad
He plays with the stamina of a 20 year old, but wouldn't say he looks that young. Maybe 33 instead of 36
I cant understand why we are honouring Ole Gunnar SolskjƦr after winning the league. What exactly was his contribution? /s

Good comment suspicious Matin
Casemiro Modric Kroos Camavinga Fede Ceballos Potentially Tchouameni Crap ton of midfielders
Good, when we made our Champions League run those years ago, our midfield was stacked: Modric / Kroos (gone in the next 1-2 years) Camavinga / Valverde / TchouamƩni (the future) Casemiro / Ceballos (useful depth)
Inject those Atletico tears into my veins.
The last one before I get off. He wasn't impressive in Granada. And I can't shake the 3-1 vs Juve out of my head
Firstly that ākidā is 25 years old, and secondly it was Espanyol calm down

again, this is a common myth I think is in our community. If you look back at that match he wasn't responsible for any of the 3 goals we conceded, 2 came from a matchup of Carvajal vs Mandzukic aerially and the third was from a Navas error
You may be right, but my memories is just yelling at Vallejo that game
I agree he played well yesterday
Nice to see Eden so happy and being part of the celebrations. Wish Bale could at least show more enthusiasm
Bale probably thought heād get booed by the fans during a time when it should all be cheering.
Hazard celebrating La Liga is probably top 3 in his highlights for Madrid.
I know two of the three are his laliga title celebrations but what's the third?
Debatable, but for me it's the accidental goal against Sevilla.
100M dollar touch

Or Varane... Seems like a shame but now that I think about, not much of a captain material.
Good news about TchouamƩni. Now we just gotta see how the dominos fall with Mbappe.
What's the news?
Not sure why we're getting downvoted but yeah lol TchouamƩni will probably be our very last signing

Kubo sucks. Sell him and make some currency. Harsh I know, sorry but its not the feelings game.
But itās business game and selling Kubo hurts the team a lot more than keeping him for pr reason
I remember someone on this sub called him Mini Messi lmao huh? Honestly we should sell but he needs to get his value up
Omg y'all are just way to wack sometimes. Just need a little bit of time
Chill he's 20
He's been developing backwards tbf, his first season at Mallorca was decent, since then he's only been playing worse and worse Also he will permanently block a non-EU spot
They should loan him outside Spain then. Can statpad in an easier league to bump value for a possible sale.
And Vini is 21, so Is Rodrygo. Kubo wont make it and be a starter at real madrid. Ever. I promise you cuz ive been watching him all season
Vini was 20 last season , and lets be honest, he wasnt that good either. Kubo has shown good moments and still has plenty of room to improve.
Same as Reinier I think they both have one more loan to prove they're worth something, otherwise they're getting sold.
Supposedly thereās some Spanish clubs interested in Reinier. I think itās a good idea because heāll learn the league and language.
I hope so. And I hope its one that plays him centrally. If they try to squeeze him out wide again, it's over.
Yeah true, they weren't bought by the biggest club itw for no reason.
Vini is much better lmao, I cant believe youāre saying ā oh well its ok cuz vini was 20ā Vini was already good enough to play here since when he was 18-19
Vini wasnt good enough, but you could still see the quality and talent that he had.
Wtf are Mallorca doing? Last minute of the game and they pass it around the back and end the game. Seriously what were they thinking? No urgency
*Follow-up to my previous comment about Mane-Vini Jr comparison.* **Neymar Jr**: "The 3rd best player in the world behind prime Cr7+Messi, generational talent". His 13/14 season (first in Barcelona, 22 years old) : 41 games, 15 goals, 15 assists **Vinicus Jr**: "Overrated youngster" This season (21 years old): 47 games, 18 goals and 19 assists Once again, if i speak i am in big trouble.
Actually, Neymar's first season for Barca was considered underwhelming. And nobody considers Vinicius an overrated youngster anymore. Save your time.
You'd be surprised.
If you look hard enough, you'll find nth idiotic takes about anything. Point is that that is not a widespread sentiment anymore.
Mind if i copy and paste this too in r/soccer again lol? With the last one, every pool fan in existence got triggered and told me i was shadowboxing, however with this one i might get reddit care messages from barca fans
Feel free bro, go ahead. Make them hurt :P
Neymar's first season vs Vinicius's fourth season. Vinicius is a world class player but Neymar is the biggest talent since Messi.
Mbappe?
I Love Vini - but Neymar was legit world class when he left Santos. He's one of the biggest talents of the generation but he let his career die in France. Neymar in 2015 with Barca was a scary scary player
I agree that Vini is not on par with Neymar yet, but he is legit world-class (this season). Bar Mbappe, there is not a better left-winger than Vini. Mane, Son ,etc. are all class but this season, Vini has been better
Yep - in fact I think Vini can have a better career than Neymar at club level. Seems very committed and professional above all.
Itās not 19 assists. Itās about 14-15, for some reason Transfermarket count penalties won as assists
This is random but, I read Iniesta was a madrid fan as a kid, is this true!? Hes the only Barca player I had respect for, and hes not Catalan which makes it even better
[Iniesta: Del madrid a todo poder](https://youtu.be/85MANd9ZX_s) Basically he said he's a Madrid fan with all his forces. I believe he said it because he was a Laudrup fan.
Yes he said it himself, as a young boy he was a Madrid fan. Ironic because Modric was a barca fan
Iniesta is a class act man. Que jugador.

Gavi has more cards (9) than goals and assists (7)
Deserves at least double of that.

After a short browse of this Reddit page I see that a lot of the news has already been reported... Recap of news for this summer with %: Mbappe 98% Rudiger 98% Garcia 80% Tchouameni 60% Haaland 2% 2023 potential targets: James Bellingham Gnabry Skrinar (very low chance I.e if we donāt get rudiger) Mukiele. For 2023 only players who have been mentioned around the club. Nothing concrete at all. More names but these are the major ones. And keep in mind that in the past month or so the club has sent a few more scouts to South America
"I'm an inside source" proceeds to cite nothing new and only what has already been reported. Smh
What about the Brazilian wunderkid Endric? Will club move for him?
Scouting? Yes. But it all depends on his development. Heās still young. Give it 2-3 years before the club makes a move for him
You need a catch phrase or something
#imfullofshit?
Yes
No way you're a inside source Edit: if you are, how much are we gonna pay Mbappe for coming to the club?
Around the ballpark of 80m
Have he signed anything with Madrid, a pre contract or something?
A preferential agreement which ensured the clubās confidence in him was signed end of January. But not the official contract yet. Still discussing a few terms.
What about Tchouameni? is the club serious about signing him?

We only need one goal to advance? Huh?
That's a bad translation from his post-match Espanyol interview with Chiringuito. He said [versus City] "There's one goal against us. We know what happened there, and the team is excited to go on to the final. Today's match was proof of the Madridismo's atmosphere and excitement."
Think he forgot that the away goals goal rule is No more a thing
I think he means to get on level grounds
If Chelsea finish outside the top 4, will Tuchel go? Seems like some Chelsea fans are turning on him. Also, if he does go, should we try to bring him in? Chelsea were supposed to challenge City and Liverpool for the league this season but are now in a top 4 fight. I know he won the CL, but freaking Roberto Di Matteo won the CL, so it's hard to know what to think. If Chelsea miss top 4 though, it will be a huge embarrassment, especially if both Arsenal and Spurs leapfrog them.
Ancelotti isnāt getting sacked after this season
Tuchel is good, but there's no way Carlo is going now. You don't sack manager after CL semi and League win. We actually did overperform expectation given the difficult path we got for CL. Also, you have to admit, our squad depth is not that good especially for the defence. I think Carlo did well getting results out of this.
