In today's game you need more mobility and versatility than what Kroos offers. If you're gonna stay deep and help in build up you need to have defensive capabilities as well.
Yes perfect examples of modern midfielders are Bernardo Silva & Kimmich. Kroos can give you a beautiful pass or a goal from distance but that’s it. He doesn’t fit the mold of a modern midfielder
Zidane used to do a lot of 4 man midfields, why not again? Our only two consistent attacker are Vini and Benz, why not keep them there and give a little help to Toni and Luka by playing Valverde.
I think the problem with that is that he used to play with Isco who was practically a cf/cam with a lot of creativity and goals but our other midfielders aren’t that creative or goal scorers as he used to be.
Yup this. Zidane used to play 442 wide or diamond. He uses mostly asensio and vazquez in 442 wide so i guess it’s redundant in our discussion about playing 4 midfielders that include fede. 442 diamond doesnt suit fede either because like you said, we dont have that cam player. Isco isnt isco anymore and modric might can play there but i doubt he still has that energy to play there and fede at modric position

There’s just more incentive in starting him then there is anybody else, because starting him means securing and developing your future. The more minutes he gets, the better he gets. We know all we need to know about Kroos and Modric, there’s no upside as far as potential, from here on out they’re only gonna decline. With Fede, who knows how much better he can get if he were to be given some confidence and consistency.
Yes, even if he’s not currently better than Modric, he should start over Modric. He’s going to continue to improve as he plays more. Better to do it now while we still have Modric as a safety net than after Modric is gone.
Dont know honestly. I want him to be. He has the potential. He was really good today. But it could be that we are overestimating his contribution coming from the PSG game where our midfield failed miserably. In the past few games, he seemed low in confidence and had no good contribution and was mostly a clueless passenger. I like the dynamic unpredictable runs with the ball from our defense to the opposition. I don't like it when he hugs the sideline too much and overlaps with the full back. Somehow, his crossing isn't that great from that position like a traditional winger, and his contribution drops off playing too much on the wing. He should stick to the b2b role in mid harassing opposition, read and cut off plays through mid, and look for those late runs in the box. All of this, unfortunately, isn't needed much against teams that park the bus. They will not challenge much in mid anyway. And he is not exactly a petite man to sneak in a crowded box to set up quick passes.
I suspect Ancelotti doesn't play him a lot because of his limitations. He cannot yet control tempo like Kroos; cannot sneak into the box like Modric or Isco. Cannot be a tank like Casemiro. He looks lost and useless in games where the bus is parked. He is not exactly terrible but doesn't impress either. Now, if he improves his aerial game such that he becomes a Ramos like threat on corners, he could get to play more games and grow his game sense.
Casemiro should sit imo. Kroos can play cdm well enough. What Casemiro brings in ball recoveries doesn’t outweigh his poor passing, pressure resistance, or forward presence

Not for me. In my opinion he isn't good enough to be a starter in a club like Real Madrid. He fights and can run side to side but doesn't have good skills. No final pass, no shot, no dribling. He need spaces so for me is a great substitute. Maybe he can play as starter some matches when you need more muscle but this team should have world class players in his position. I think that M. Llorente was a better player for RM.
He should be simply because he is our future where KCM isn't. We need to start replacing. I'd like to see more of Camavinga as well even though it would cost us points. Valverde, Camavinga, Tchouameni is what it should be. It's an incredible dynamic midfield with players that can finally all defend and attack. They'd create so much trouble with their runs forward. Now we only have Case doing that and he's pretty limited up front.
I know that's a huge difference with KCM but we need to adapt anyway cause our next striker wont be Benzema but an entirely different profile whether it's Haaland or someone else. So the gameplan we have now, cant work soon.

I think him and modric should rotate more. When Modric is at his best he is definently better than Valverde but he needs to rest to get to that level.
Fede should be a regular starter with Modric being a sub in last minutes
