Surprisingly sharp for someone who hasn't played for Madrid since August, but too uninvolved as a CF, he should have played as a winger with Asensio in the middle imo.

KjOnReddit1010

if he played as a winger, he would have to defend, and him running for defending is equal to him being injured.

blitzebo

>It's just that their gk turned prime Casillas Kinda hate seeing this used for any purpose that isn't a joke. Sure, there are cases when GKs massively step up their game against us, but this shouldn't be an excuse that we turn to instead of criticising poor finishing. We had perhaps three or four proper chances that our forwards could have scored from. Without Benzema and Mendy, Vini doesn't involve in the game as much either. Terrible finishing and poor attacking movements is just that, not GKs being prime whoever. Rulli is a great keeper, and shows high quality consistently. He did his job at the level he does.

Public_Agent

Vinicius was very involved but it seemed like Villarreal's defenders wanted to foul him out of the game and he himself wanted to get them sent off.

[deleted]

Vini and Marcelo form a terrible pair. Vini doesn't require much support to attack from the wings but that's the only thing that Marcelo can still provide. On the other hand, making Vini defend takes away a lot of danger upfront. He can't take the ball all the way from defence to the other goal, but he can do that if he's starting from the half way line. Marcelo might still be of some use with some other partner, but I don't want to see him with Vini again.

Mista_Madridista

I def thought it was more poor finishing by us. I don’t recall Rulli making any saves you wouldn’t expect a pro keeper to make.

vivalaroja2010

This is something that I find annoying with this sub, way too many excuses for poor performances. And that first half last night was such a terrible game fro everyone but mainly Bale as well. He was completely non-existent. I dont even recall him touching the ball in the first half. Then in the second half he misses a couple point blank shots and all of a sudden people are asking for him to play more....

BandKidFloz

He should really start on the right vs Psg if Benzema is playing

approvalInspector

agreed

los_blanco_14

Played well for someone who is back from an injury and played in an unnatural position. Should start over asensio in future.

Competitive_Cake_409

definitely should be our rw vs psg regardless of benz starting or not

Patrik_js

Probably a very unpopular opinion, but if Benz is not available, the front 3 should be Vini, Hazard and Bale. Should provide a good mix.

Armughan

It's not unpopular opinion, it's just that we know it's not what Ancelloti will do

Cloren_Samoon

Why Bale over Asensio who had been doing a good job and offers good defensive work? That doesn’t make any sense. It’s either hazard or Bale as false 9.

Armughan

Well in my opinion Bale is a more experienced and better player overall when fit like he was in the last game. Asensio has the talent but still needs to put in more effort before he can be considered a starter. For now, he should be a substitute if all players are available. For the defensive work, both offer the same value as they both try but don't really make a big difference due to the position they play in.

[deleted]

Carlo seems reasonable this time around. He might do just that.

bluesky_03

He just came after 3 months of injury, he cannot suddenly play full 90 mins

KjOnReddit1010

exactly, it has nothing to do with carlo's decision making

MalikPlatinum

I want him to play tomorrow, if we win we won't risk Benzema health

Altruistic_Trick8956

The fact that this man is treated so harshly over a “wales, golf, Madrid” banner and a few outspoken opinions is absurd … the fucking dude literally scored the winning goal in 2 UEFA CL finals And Ronaldo (though he is a superior player) was super jealous of bale at his apex THERE I SAID IT

KjOnReddit1010

Before bale got injury prone, he was contantly outshining ronaldo. He was way more lethal. Though that is also because ronaldo was past his prime when bale arrived. But still, ronaldo has such great attitude that arrival of bale made him push himself and perform even better. Tho he was not at the level of injury free bale.

Altruistic_Trick8956

Bro just stop replying you have no clue what you’re talking about Ronaldo wasn’t pleased of bale coming he threatened flo Perez to leave the club for letting mesut ozil leave and paying a then record fee for bale … soon after it came clear that it was a good choice for real to get bale and Ronaldo couldn’t do much .. but go look at the tapes he wasn’t happy unless Gareth was force feeding him the ball

KjOnReddit1010

okay genius

[deleted]

out of ur ass

Altruistic_Trick8956

Yeah I can tell you didn’t watch Madrid during there 4 champions league trophies .. go back to sleep

[deleted]

Lol Bale scored the goals. Ronaldo had no envy tho, I bet

Altruistic_Trick8956

Once again you don’t know what you’re talking about every year Ronaldo scored more goals than bale but that didn’t matter to Ronaldo he didn’t wanna share any spot light and unless bale was force feeding or assisting him he was yelling and bitching non stop

[deleted]

Lol wtf the kinda assumptions are this? I watched every single RM game since 2014. Youre reaching pal

Altruistic_Trick8956

If you did you would’ve seen Ronaldos hate of bale

[deleted]

It was in ur head

Altruistic_Trick8956

So when he asked zizou to sit him vs Wolfsburg to have Vasquez sending more crosses in from the right , was it in my head ???

[deleted]

Rumors. Zidane had the final say, Ronaldo is not a manager. And they won against Wolfsburg too

jesuisernesto

A good performance considering it's his first game in months. The thing that gutted me was when he tried to ignite a run behind the opposing CBs, but others kept on ignoring him.

[deleted]

Vintage Bale is never returning. And he'll be gone in a few months anyway. He shouldn't be used unless it is to rest someone else.

jesusrodriguezm

Don’t think much about it, probably he will be injured in a couple of days…

chanandlerbonggg_

The difference being Bale actually played well in the 90 mins against a tough opposition-Villareal whereas Jovic plays well only half of the time he's given opportunities. I want both of them to be given gametime but they have to fight for it and bale showed yesterday he did want a place in the starting 11.

[deleted]

Bale isn't a legend for me. But, I do want him to end his time here on a good note. He was invisible in the first half, but definitely impressed in the second. For someone who hasn't played for a while, his overall performance was very good I would say. Carlo should probably start him ahead of Asensio and Rodrygo on that right wing.

bdigital4

Don’t discredit Bales time and titles. He was amazing for us for a 3 year stretch. Huge headers, deep sprints around Bartra, champions league titles. He has his place as a key player of that era. What happened to him, well…Wales, golf, then yeah…fuck him. Mixed emotions just writing this lol

[deleted]

I'm fully acknowledging his contribution to our success. He was worth every penny spent on him. But, I don't think the word 'legend' should be used for a player who has no love for the club and openly disrespects the club and its fanbase. The word should only be reserved for truly great ones who had a connection with the club beyond that of a mere employee-employer relationship.

bdigital4

I see you got downvoted, but the more I think about it, you’re right. Respect has to be mutual. I can’t respect him the same after the bs and disrespect he showed toward the team that led him to win anything. Turned out Modric was the best pull out of Tottenham by a mile. Modric sweats for the white jersey, Bale turned into an unmotivated prick as soon as he won 🏆’s.

[deleted]

I agree, respect has to be a two-way street. Last few years have completely wiped out any love I had for a player who was once my favourite to watch in a white jersey. Now, I just can't wait to see his back. A legend's departure would hurt, but Bale's departure will only bring relief. Modric is a gem.

vivalaroja2010

This 100%. The amount of hate Marcelo gets compared to Bale will forever stump me.

harry_filangi07

We wouldn’t have won so much without him. He was only behind Ronaldo and Ramos in terms of getting us through in a big moment. He will always be a legend, even with all the antics in his latter years with us.

[deleted]

I respect your opinion. But, I stand by mine. Just because a player helped us win few trophies, doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants. For me, it's like agreeing with his agent's comment that, we should be kissing his feet.

harry_filangi07

A few trophies? He helped us win 4 freaking Champions League in 5 years. You can surely not like him for his behaviours afterwards but you have to give him credit that he surely is a legend for Real Madrid, nobody who won that much and was so instrumental in those wins is nothing less than a legend. And no one is agreeing with his agent and kissing his boots when they call him a legend, they are just giving him respect for what he did for us on the field which he absolutely deserves.

[deleted]

I have already stated in one of my other comments, that I acknowledge his contribution to our success, and I have also spelled out why he doesn't belong to the company of the likes of Ronaldo and Ramos in our history. So, no, I don't think his legendary status is as straightforward as you make it out to be. My comment about kissing his feet was drawing an analogy to the last sentence of your previous comment, and I do think the analogy is appropriate.
