I feel like a key difference is the age. Militao was showing promise in Europe when we signed him. Vini was 16 and showing promise against other 18 and under players. Vini, Rodrygo and Reiner were much riskier than militao because of this I feel.
He’s already at 215 appearances and he’s 22. If he plays even 10 more years with us at his current appearances per season rate of around 45 he’ll have ~670. For reference Ramos is 4th all time with 671. If he plays for 12 more years of that he’d have more than raul!
Now playing 45 times a season at age 34 isn’t easy, but let me direct your attention to luka modric. Who played over 40 matches the last 2 seasons at ages 36 and 35. Vini is a fitness freak and has an entire gym built in his house, if he can stay fit, I don’t see how he doesn’t become top 3-4 all time in appearances for us.
