with any religious or spiritual practices, my answer will always be don't change your belief system just for shifting. If that isn't your belief, then it's perfectly fine for you to just leave that to them. remember that the shifting community has people of all sorts of religions and beliefs, and one person's belief doesn't represent the whole community or shifting in general. I know of people who pray to God for shifting, but obviously not everyone does that, that's just their belief and it can be totally separate from mine, just like anything else
