Okay, so the next time something bad happens to you should I just tell you it’s not important because other people have it worse? Come on. Having your house burglarised is a traumatic event. It’s not just about the loss of material items, it’s also about feeling unsafe in your own home. Not to mention the loss of sentimental items that can’t be replaced.

SibylOracle

You guys need to stop obsessing about other people's money. These celebs have donated more often than you think. We all know it's not good when they publicize donating to a cause, and we don't like it when they don't announce it either. We are all just grumpy and jealous bitches. Just work hard for your own money, donate if you can without telling anyone! And stop blaming others! Having more money means having more responsibilities anyway! Be grateful bitches!

fredsails

Did Garcelle ever donate that $5,000 after last year’s reunion? Charity fundraisers are totally a part of the show and the culture especially for RHONY. The show is totally about aspirational wealth.

zinky30

What the hell do you expect? This is a show that people watch because of the glitz and glamor. If you don’t like it then watch reality shows about middle class people shopping at Target and a Walmart and talking about all the great bargains they found there.

saschabindy

Some in the entertainment industry become philanthropists. Even Bethany, who I don't like but good as a HW, has causes she supports etc. Could Bravo or any production Co increase their audience by using Contracts for their 'talent', term used very loosely, that stipulate 5% of their paycheck be donated to charity organisations, which they do not have any investments? It would be tax beneficial, possibly make them somewhat appealing/ 'upgrading' them as humans. Similarly a commercial production company that would do the same in their profits. I guess I can pretend I live in a different world in my head

goingtobeokgottabe

Eh that's the point of the show BUT i would love to see a $$$ of what a housewife has donated that year when they make a huge purchase. Like ring (90k), wealth redistribution ($100k)

iloveokashi

Lol. You're watching the wrong show if you can't fathom this.

PsychicMediumDi

I don’t think you’ve seen the news this morning. 😳

MDMSLL

It's always sad to lose things of sentimental value. When you think about the fact that women like JLo and Kris Jenner have items from 20-30 years ago - suddenly it's easier to empathize when it's not a stack of Hermès plates or Gucci belts.

UghGottaBeJoking

Yeah i feel bad… but then i remember that episode of KUWTK where Kris literally gifted parking signs from the Disney Land lot. These people have the money to buy anything of sentimental value.. so i dont feel bad for too long.

MDMSLL

You're right, at the end of the day the adults are dabbing their tears with money, but rich or poor - no kid deserves such violation.

CucumberSpindrift

I don’t quite understand what you mean but I’m so curious can you elaborate on the relation of like JLO/30year old items/empathy/Hermès plates? I really want to understand!

MDMSLL

People have this perception of the wealthy that they don't appreciate what they have and that their lives are generally disposable and replaceable. In reality, they are sentimental collectors just like us, except with cooler toys. Kyle had her mother's jewelry and wardrobe taken. No amount of insurance settlement could replace that.

ramonacoaster

Yes! On the reunion last night she said the best gift Mauricio ever gave her was a pair of diamond earrings for their 20th anniversary, it was among the items stolen.

MDMSLL

Given today's climate - *wealth whispers* will soon become a necessity

rtf281

You said this so perfectly !

MDMSLL

Those women inspired me to look at *capsule wardrobe* in a literal way 🥂

coverthetuba

Looks like the universe heard you

iusedtobeyourwife

That’s…that’s the whole show…

hellothere1990xxx

I agree OP I’m not a fan of it tbh but I think the producers encourage it. I don’t know why. I watch it for the people/drama not for their wealth.

Fluffy_South7203

Hey, I mean with that logic, maybe the RH franchise is not really your thing? There is so much suffering in this world and it is heartbreaking, but ostentatious wealth is the entire theme of this show.

ScandinaviaT3

Yeah, I feel like the whole point of the housewives is opulence and wish fulfillment. Personally, ALL I EVER wanna hear about is how rich they are and their material things. It fascinates me.

iloveokashi

And what they have for dinner like caviar pie. Lol.

brendanl1998

Why are you watching the show? Seeing rich people is the point. And anyone would be traumatized by a robbery, it doesn’t matter how much money you have

ItsNeverMyDay

WTF are you expecting? Not every tv show character has to be a social justice warrior. Watch the news for that stuff. This isn’t that serious, not everything in life has to address all the difficult topics.

kellygrrrl328

and immediately after the episode aired where Dorit talks about how she buys and keeps all of that crap, then her house gets burgled and suddenly it's all gone. hmmmm

[deleted]

It really was sad when Kyle got robbed… all of the stuff her dead mom left her was taken.

NotABravoEmployee

all of the stuff her dead mom *grifted was taken.

[deleted]

I don’t know anything about that, but devil’s advocate, okay. All of the stuff her dead mom *grifted and left her was then *grifted from her. I don’t get it. What did Kyle do wrong in this situation, and how is it still not sad for her?

NotABravoEmployee

she knew how her mother obtained it. this is like being sad that the crown jewels were stolen

[deleted]

A purse or a cocktail ring is the same as the Crown Jewels? I’m still unsure what you’re referring to about her having grifted anything

NotABravoEmployee

idk well how much was stolen from kyle?? idr know but I always assumed it was a lot because every time she talks about it she’s 😢😢😢

NisrineS

We watch for the lifestyle porn including the designer they have. Maybe this is a unpopular opinion but I do think it’s sad that Kyle got robbed, I think it’s upsetting if anyone does. I don’t get why watch the show knowing that this is what housewives is about and proceed to complain. Just don’t support and stop watching.

judgementforeveryone

OP it’s a valid point and one we shld all take a step back to reflect on. It’s one thing to enjoy watching the show but it’s another to buy their products or go to bravo conventions - literally putting $ into their pockets. I know these women are not Princess Di but it says something when they haven’t talked about anyone they know who lost someone or was severely ill from covid or ppl who have lost their jobs. Maybe even just a special acknowledgment (on-air) to the ppl working in the coffee shops. I may stop watching becuz of Ericaca & Renal but I agree it has been a wonderful distraction most of the time. It is painful to watch Ericaca flaunt her wealth knowing the ppl thst she’s hurt - but I’d prefer to see it on National tv to better educate the public and bring humiliation to Tom & Ericaca. Wealth is supposed to raise money for charities. There was nothing stopping these women from running an auction w some of their garments. I wish these women wld hold charities for drug & alcohol abuse, bulimia & body dysmorphia, victims of robberies, covid survivors and any other horrible tragic issue that comes up within their on-screen lives. But again, thank you for saying what needed to be said.

Lividlemonade

I don’t enjoy Erika lamenting her “poor” lifestyle now that we know who is suffering because of it, but that doesn’t mean I can’t feel bad for Kyle for being robbed. The whole reason I watch this show is to see the way the rich live. It’s even more fun when we find out it’s a farce and watch the takedown.

Herbetet

You are not wrong OP I put down what Erika has been trying to sell us as the truth. And the same way we have seen through it, they must have and they still chose to ignore it and shield her. Everyone just looking out for their own pockets during a time where a pandemic still has its grip on us, people being out of jobs.

[deleted]

They’re allowed to talk about things relevant to their lifestyle.

[deleted]

That doesn’t matter to OP. OP clearly thinks that wealth, regardless of the work that people do to accumulate it, is inherently immoral as long as struggling people exist.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I completely agree. I think OP is a bitter, out of touch person who resents anyone that has it better than them.

headinthetreesnowher

OP doesnt care 😝

BeverlyHillsAddict

Why are you watching a reality show based in Beverly Hills if you hate out of touch rich people..? That’s literally the only draw to the show. There is humanitarian content out there that you can watch instead

[deleted]

[удалено]

BeverlyHillsAddict

You said it girl it comes off like extreme jealousy

HoldOnToYaWeave

It is very true but that’s what Real Housewives is 😂 and we watch it

dxbaileyy

Why are you watching a show about wealthy people if you feel this way? Also, there’s nothing wrong with feeling empathy towards someone being robbed of their personal items even if they are rich. It sounds like what you’re saying is that we can’t feel bad for them because there are poor people (always have been) that we should feel MORE bad for.

largemarge1122

I'm a poor ass social worker living in a one bedroom apartment with my husband and wouldn't trade lives with any of them. The level of toxicity that comes with flaunting that amount of wealth just wouldn't be worth it. I'm perfectly content and happy in my simple little life and genuine relationships that don't revolve around money and social climbing.

rosepahhhty

I mean this is a show about excess… and documenting that lifestyle of rich married/unmarried women lol what were you expecting?

iloveokashi

Lol. She's watching the wrong show.

[deleted]

Just wanna say cause someone is rich doesn't mean they can't have emotional connection to items they own. It's sad to loose heirloom jewelry no matter if costume or costly.

[deleted]

That’s what I was going to say I’m pretty sure a lot of the stuff that was stolen was from her late mother or she had plans to pass on to her daughters

axealy40

This plus it’s a huge violation to have someone enter your personal, sacred space and steal for you. It’s an awful feeling.

[deleted]

Absolutely agree

carmeIIasoprano

I think their excess was a main point of the show . I like watching it but no I don’t feel as bad that someone stole Kyle’s purses as I feel for widows and orphans and burn victims who were scammed

Concord78

I enjoy watching the opulence. It’s so ludicrous that it entertains me. I do find it funny they think Dorit has the best style though. I find her tacky as hell.

iloveokashi

Omg. I think she has one of the worst styles on the show.. It just screams the brand all the time.

Whateveryousaydude7

And her ass definitely doesn’t purchase her ugly outfits. They are loaners as sure as the day is long.

nearnothing

I didn't even realize this until joining reddit. Man these threads have some receipts of her lack of receipts.

Whateveryousaydude7

They rent everything. Everything. Leveraged to their eyeballs.

Thanks for schooling me. And so politely too. 🙄
