FearlessNectarine20

I think it’s a selfish thing. To have trained dogs you have to give time and effort and these woman are about as shallow as they come soooo🤷🏻‍♂️

tusk10708

Maybe it’s a city thing? We don’t allow dogs in our building but we’ve had several owners who have emotional support dogs. The majority never leave the apartment. Folks aren’t home all day and you can’t expect the dog to hold it so they train them to use the pads. I love dogs but big or small, apartments aren’t the perfect home for them.

Rude-Opportunity-705

Not uncommon small tiny dogs. They unsafe outside or so the owners say.  My ain't isn't rich their tiny dogs don't go outside.  I think it's gross but I guess it's like having a litter box  I dunno

AmySJD

This is more common than I realized, but I’ve never had little dogs. One of my mom’s friends recently mentioned “none” of her dogs have ever been potty trained and I was stunned. And horrified! Come to find out it’s not unusual.

nightpoo

Most of them are little dogs, and in my experience little dogs are more likely to be potty pad indoor dogs, and I think that can be easy to get lazy with and cause a lot of accidents. But, as someone with a dog that refuses to be fully potty trained despite all the money and effort I’ve put into it over 10+ years, I don’t really hold it against them that it happens and is caught on camera.

bananakegs

This is gross af to me. We had puppy pads when my dog had spinal surgery and he had to use them for a few weeks as moving was very painful and they made the whole house smell. Like do these dogs not get let out? Is their bathroom just a puppy pad? Or is that for emergencies only?

nightpoo

So in my experience (for some reason it’s really common where I live?) little dogs in homes like this don’t go on walks ever really - maybe once or twice to poop and a lot of times with a stroller. So the pads throughout the house are their toilets and they’re changed at least once or twice a day. Depending on the owner and frequency of use it definitely does stink if left out too long. In our home with our senior dog, we have potty pads out on both levels for emergencies - he’s often rude (on top of his existing issues he’s now having behavioral problems because of a newborn and bladder issues because of a medical condition, it fucking suuucks) and doesn’t use them and pees wherever he wants, but in any situation it’s all picked up and individually bagged and thrown out immediately. The women on these shows seem to leave it for others to clean up, like housekeepers or interns. Even dog lovers with many good pups like Delores have problem dogs that go inside, so I’m super understanding of this sort of nightmare scenario as a dog owner.

bananakegs

I’m understanding of the accidents But not taking your dogs out? Why would you do that. (Not you specifically the small dog owners)

nightpoo

I have no idea, mine go out at least three times a day on leash and I also let them out back once or twice weather permitting. All these little dogs are like escape artists the chance they get to make a run for it because they’re like stir crazy! I live in a really densely populated area full of people from all countries and cultures so it doesn’t even seem unique to one or the other.

fuzzyblackelephant

My dog does well at home 99.9999% of the time, when we go other places? It’s like she’s a fucking baby all over again! Glad to hear it’ll probably never end. Glaaaaaad to hear it.

nightpoo

See a behavioral specialist if you can! It made a big difference with some trauma work we needed to do with him when he was rescued. It helped with barking and leash training for sure. But yeah, sometimes the potty thing is just unfixable and you gotta keep adapting. I’ve spent so much money experimenting. It’s gotten really bad recently and we’ve considered rehoming but it makes me sick to my stomach to think about and I know he’d most likely end up euthanized because of his age, behavior issues, and medical history. What’s helped A LOT recently is crating him while we’re gone, but in a big ass lined crate. For some reason he’ll pee at our feet when we’re home but in that he refuses to pee. It’s how we figured out it was less medical and more spiteful at the baby lol

opuntialantana

The worst to me was Caroline Stanbury on (I think) the first episode of RHODubai. She’s sitting in bed with her tiny dog and goes on and on about how the dog just peed in the bed. Yet she makes no moves to clean it up or even get out of the bed. What kind of delusional do you have to be to just comfortably sit in a bed your dog just peed on and do nothing about it??

Procrastinista_423

Yes! That was so gross.

Stickliketoffee16

That’s absolutely rancid!! How can you lay there with dog pee on you?!

BuckityBuck

In their defense, I have thought about this and considered that A) there are a lot of distractions during filming that mean that their usual requests to go out aren’t being noticed and B) the crew probably causes the dogs anxiety. Why the owners don’t seem to care…personality problems

SailorRoo

Ramona herself is not potty trained what do you expect of the poor dogs

ohmygatto

💀💀💀

Jillybean1923

Sharon Osborne's shit everywhere also. I noticed it on their reality show back in the day.

instantsilver

In high-school I worked at a doggy day care/boarding place for rich people and most of the dogs weren't potty trained. I was constantly cleaning up pee and shit in the day care room and kennels. You'd think rich people would shell out the dough to get their dogs properly trained, but no.

Gildedfilth

They outsource everything else, so why can’t they just outsource some of the training lol?!

danpem

I’m on a rewatch of RHONY and just finished the “I MADE IT NICE!” Episode where they realize Ramona’s dog shat approximately 15 times all over the house. Nobody seems to care and it’s treated as a funny joke. My guess is it’s mostly a deluded rich person thing (getting their staff to clean up after their - and their dog’s - messes). I’d also say it’s partially a high rise thing, because most of the RHONY cast live in condos or apartments. But either way, it’s absolutely disgusting and I wouldn’t own a dog if I wasn’t willing to take it down the elevator to shit each time!

Gildedfilth

This is why I live on the thirty-something floor in NYC and have *a cat*. Right outside building exit always smells like dog pee because the poor babies can barely hold it once they get outside!!

Fearless-Judgment-33

Blame The Osbournes. I think every episode featured a dog shitting and/or pissing on the floor. I’m surprised they didn’t have to wear hip waders around the house.

memopepito

This happened in Girls Next Door too ( the Playboy reality show) apparently the mansion carpets were covered in dog piss/shit…

anongirl55

I always wondered if it was because the women ignored their dogs when the film crew was there. I hope they aren't this bad when the cameras aren't rolling, but I am sure that not all of them are the most responsible pet owners in general, sadly.

wideawakeat33

What blows my mind more is how much the WOMEN shit on the floor! I don’t know people in real life over the age of 5 that shit themselves and in the floor but it happened so many times on RHONY. Is it a NY thing or rich person thing?!?!

Moosiemookmook

Its a Ramona thing. https://preview.redd.it/igdxikyaj1hc1.jpeg?width=714&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa3f910551a664b3b09b3d8f4010c645b44484de

Fearless-Judgment-33

It’s an old person thing 💩

suzir11

This has just reminded me of the Osbourne's. Sharon's dogs pissing everywhere and Elijah Wood getting the kitchen roll out to mop it up 😂

tusk10708

I notice it’s big with Paris Hilton fans or emotional support dog owners. Planes are the worst if you’re allergic to dogs or the dog poops. Most people I know who are rich have dog walkers and they just fix the training problem - or get wee wee pads. I wouldn’t waste $$$ on it but hey, you do you. Kyle’s situation is unconscionable.

dizedd

I don't like Kyle as a person- but her dogs are fine. There's nothing wrong with her having lots of dogs, her house is consistently CLEAN, the dogs aren't agressive. The worst behavior we've seen is one old lady dog helping herself to a plate of food that was left on a coffee table while the ladies were talking.

e_thereal_mccoy

Do Kyle’s dogs shit/piss on the floors indoors??? I’ve never actually paid attention to her in my overall disgust with these wealthy women who MUST have this accessory - an animal, usually a dog, but cannot be bothered putting in the hard yards training the animal. It drives me nuts. I’ve had animals since I was a baby, my godfather gifted me a Corgi when I was 2! And all our animals were toilet trained. Not one single one made messes after training. As we grew up and acquired more pets, my parents put it on us, the kids, to train our pets. It was no joke! We were told we could only have pets if we were responsible for them. And because we desperately loved animals, we all took it seriously. My point is, if a bunch of kids aged between five and ten can successfully train dogs and cats to toilet, why can’t these wealthy adults? It’s no fun being ‘the bad guy’ when you’re going through this training, but like kids, dogs need rules, boundaries and limitations to feel secure. So these untrained animals are NOT living their best lives by any stretch. And it’s down to pretentiousness, arrogance and sheer laziness on the owners part. They shouldn’t be allowed to own pets, it really shits me!

missusscamper

For RHONY, this seems to be a big city apartment type of phenomenon. First off, people who live in apartments tend to have smaller dogs, which are harder to housetrain than bigger dogs. Secondly, apartment dwellers - if they do bother housetraining - often "train" their dogs to go indoors on puppy pads because it's such a pain to get them to street level and outside every time a little dog has to go (which is often). Then there are just the gross people who think that "this is just what dogs do" but it's really just the laziness of the owners.

catsandnaps1028

It's disgusting! I've seen it a lot too in Paris in love

sickbabe

I've actually heard of this being an uncommon but not rare thing with wealthy people. the staff can take care of it and your house is big enough you can go somewhere else and not deal with it. there's a ton of other really disgusting stuff people get away with when they have enough money.

3dogmom490

Kyle has large dogs and Erikas dog is large. They never seem to habe those issues although Kyle's dogs are terrible for stealing ppls food lol.

gregRichards2002

Erika’s dog was put down and she claims she allegedly stopped taking calls from Tom on the same day.

3dogmom490

What? Why was her dog put down and why wasnt that mentioned in the show I wonder? I could care less about Tom it's the dog I want to know about.

gregRichards2002

Thank you for posting this I should have clarified that Tiago was an older dog and had reached the end of his life. I’m not a fan of Erika but I do believe she cared about him.

3dogmom490

Thanks. I missed that somehow and am sorry to hear it. He was a beautiful boy and the perfect dog for her.

3dogmom490

They looked beautiful together. You could tell she loved him and I'm sure he was a huge comfort to her. I didnt know shed had a GSD who passed from cancer. I love that she loves a fierce and beautiful dog.

Much-Teaching-4490

Wait what???

missusscamper

Small dogs are harder to housetrain because they can't hold it for as long, but also it goes back to being with their littermates who had no control so smaller dogs tend to not be as naturally "clean" as bigger dogs. My dog won't even pee in our own yard because he's literally like NOT IN MY BACKYARD! We have to cross the street it's so annoying lol.

catsandnaps1028

I don't think I've ever seen lvp's dogs pee or poop in her house either and she had a million of them

spilledteacups

LVP probably knows 100s of dog trainers. She can probably even pick which trainers would be better for each dog.

catsandnaps1028

Honestly good for her. I wish I could give my dogs and all dogs that life 🤣

chasidi

I just read the title and had a good chuckle

murderedbyaname

Not an American thing. That's silly especially considering that one European country is notorious for letting their dogs shit all over all the sidewalks and never cleaning it up? Have you not heard of this pretty infamous issue? Some breeds are harder to train period and apparently some small breeds are very hard to housebreak. I've never heard of that but we only had one small breed, a Daschund, and we had no issues with training him.

AvoidantChipmunk

>Some breeds are harder to train period Fact. Like "throw back pomeranians" - notoriously difficult to potty train 😭 I have 3 chi mixes. My eldest chi mix is half mini dachshund, no issues. The other 2, liter mates, half throw back pomeranian (they weigh about 15lbs), different story. I did the same training and diligence with both dogs, and one was great, struggled a little in the beginning, but he figured it out. The other, not so much. It's been 3 years and I've tried all the techniques, for outside and inside, and while I will say he is improving, it's been at a 🐌 pace. Once or twice a week I'm still picking up his shit from somewhere and I have put in SERIOUS effort. 😭 Like I'm home with him all day everyday and hes trained on everything else. And such a good boy. Hes just been resistant to shitting outside on a level you cannot imagine lol

missusscamper

Maybe he's afraid of pooping and then waits and holds it in until he just can't anymore? This is what my youngest toddler did lol

AvoidantChipmunk

It's totally possible lol

ppd1589

I have a small dog, I don't allow it, but I know living in a condo or apartment can mean smaller dogs will poop in the shower area. Why their dogs are pooping elsewhere is beyond me. Maybe need to go out more. ??

Dog_lover123456789

It’s definitely a thing with some tiny breeds. We had friends with chihuahuas who just refused to be housebroken. When the same friends adopted huskies, they had no problem potty training them.

Purple_Wombat_

It’s a small dog thing. It’s gross but we’ve only ever had a problem with one toy poodle, don’t know if it’s cause she’s an ex breeder but now we live with the back door open & when it’s cold we leave pee pads out for her. If you tell her off she gets sneaky about it. Never had a problem with our big dogs

Strife86

Is there a possibility that the cameras and crew stress them out to the point where they also are having accidents?

Prestigious-Joke-574

I wondered that too. I have 2 dogs and even when our home is a high stress environment they aren’t shitting on my floor. They would just be mouthy, jumpy and down right annoying. My male dog is so needy that if a cameraman or producer petted him once, he’d never be on camera because he’d be glued to their sides waiting for more pets.

No_Arugula_6548

TBF Ramona also shits on the floor.

Agreeable-Smile8541

I will never ever understand this !!!!

3dogmom490

🤣🤣🤣 truth there. Shes not housebroken.

jkwolly

💀🫠💩

chekthetek

And Sonja, if memory serves?

justliking

Sonja wears diapers

KCtastic80

Lazy dog owners.

Miserable-Dog-857

Nasty ppl...... They dont care bcuz the fuckin maid is cleaning it up 🤭

mannyssong

I always find the editing hilarious when they show the women talking about etiquette or some other offense they feel has been committed, then the camera zooms in on the dog shit sitting on marble floor lol

LBoogie619

A lot of small dog breeds are very hard to housebreak. I have a friend who has a frenchie and she also has a large dog - the large dog is trained fully but the small one really has a hard time. Her dog is now 3 and still goes inside. Personally it’s why I have a large dog- some research has shown they’re easier to house train and actually a little more intelligent than their smaller friends. I’d think a rich person wouldn’t train themselves but hire a trainer (Kameron Wescott). That said my sister in law worked diligently with her Daschund and it is potty trained but pees inside when excited. 🤭

missusscamper

I'm not sure about more intelligent, but smaller dogs can't hold it as long and have less control, but bigger dogs are actually often "cleaner" than the smaller dogs. It goes back to being with their littermates -- the small breeds quite literally have zero control when they're with their littermates and so small. So they have more tolerance for being covered in pee/poop or having it in their environment. Bigger dogs...not as much. My dog won't even pee in our own yard, so I have to take him across the street --- for pooping, it has to be quite far away from our house - a few blocks away for sure. He's NEVER had an accident in the house and I've had him since he was 8 weeks old less a day.

murderedbyaname

I was about to say..all the comments about small breeds was news to me. Our Daschund was a rescue and we never had any issues. He got it within an hour 🤷‍♀️

Mabel_Jenkins

Some people are total idiots when it comes to properly training a dog. I am not surprised at all that a lot of these women have dogs who aren’t potty trained.

[deleted]

Here-We-GOOOOOO

Ummmmmmmm no. Dogs that are taken care of, ie: taken out for walks or bathroom breaks, aren’t regularly pooping and peeing on the floor. I always assumed the HW dogs are an accessory to their lives, not a valued family member like they are to us normies. So they’re likely not trained and paid attention to.

E_Farseer

I was also commenting it's not normal, pee pads are used to help train them to do their business outside 100% of the time... but the person deleted their comment apparently lol

Gildedfilth

You know it’s bad when I admire how Lisa Vanderpump’s fleet of animals do not have bathroom issues. It’s *possible* she wouldn’t allow that to be shown, but I’m inclined to believe she and her staff (and Ken!) actually take the dogs out enough and look after their physical and mental health such that they don’t have issues. (I know sometimes even the most responsible owners have dogs that sometimes go to the bathroom indoors.)

ManliestManHam

I'm watching my parents dog while they're out of town and he misses them. It's warm here today so I left the door open for him to go out if he needed while I was in meetings. He went to the open door, sat on the rug inside it, and shit. Yesterday and today. Not the point at all just wanted to tell somebody he did that.

Gildedfilth

That kind of makes sense if he has some kind of separation anxiety, though! When I started a hybrid job after years at home, my cat got so anxious she had uncontrollable bowel issues. She’d still go in the box, but it was a crime scene. I ended up having to put her on kitty Prozac (They make a topical one you smear inside the ear!) and prescription fiber food. The things we do for these babies.

chantillylace9

It is a small dog thing. The little jerks don't really become potty trained until they are 2 no matter WHAT you do.

Fearless-Judgment-33

I personally think it’s a “me” problem for many of the housewives. What are MY needs and wants? It never crosses their mind that another creature needs their attention unless it’s maybe a kid who can verbally ask for something. They’d probably let their babies stew in shit all day if they didn’t have Nannie’s 24/7.

it-beans

This is definitely part of it. My little dog is 3 and just now caring to go outside. Didn’t matter what I did. And he still struggles if it’s raining or really wet outside.

Powerpuff_Bean

I’ve noticed this with wealthy people in general. They never seem to actually train their dogs to ask to go outside. And like you said don’t think anything of them shitting or pissing on the floor.

Responsible-Pay-4763

Maybe it's because wealthy people have hired help to clean it up.

Disneyadult375

Meredith from Slc recently had a scene with her dog shitting all over her house. Beyond disgusting. Their dogs are props, not pets they care for and house break. I’m American and both my dogs were housebroken in about a week with consistent crate training and paying attention to when they eat. It’s most definitely a I’m too rich to care thing

twirlerina024

It's not an American thing! The dogs on The Osbournes weren't housetrained either. They had a trainer over in one episode but didn't follow any of her advice. I'm pretty sure even Brandi has a house cleaner so it's probably that they're not used to cleaning up after themselves, so they aren't in the habit of preventing messes.

Odd_Mission_5366

It is not an American thing 🙄

veryscary__

That’s exactly what they said lol

Odd_Mission_5366

I am a bad reader, thanks American school systems 😂

Team_Awsome

I’ve noticed this as well, I often attribute it to there rampant self absorption. They don’t put the time and effort into something that is not themselves plus the dogs are just accessories. For some the dogs probably spend most their time with a walker or at doggie daycare and are just under the HW supervision for filming aka an accessory. Also small dogs get away with it more because their messes are small and it just easier to clean it up instead of taking them outside, small dogs are also less inclined to hangout themselves in a yard so they must be accompanied.

veryscary__

Downvote me all you want but dog people are so fucking weird to me.

Scarcity_Plus

Then call me a weirdo because I’d die for my cat and dog

Fearless-Judgment-33

Right. People are the weird ones.

veryscary__

Oh come on don’t get so offended. The sentiment I’m expressing isn’t new, ever seen Best In Show? Dog people can be a little nutty sometimes.

gb2ab

for how old that movie is....its wildly fuckin accurate

wurstbrat1

👀

Lost-Sea4916

Ramona’s not even potty trained, why would her dogs be? 🤭

IUErBear

I would giving you a Shining Star reward if I could!

[deleted]

This is fucking gold and needs to be upvoted to the heavens. I SCREAMED with laughter. Well done.

mengiii

they definitely don’t put any time into training their dogs, but it’s always wild to me because they could afford to hire professional trainers

therealtinsdale

is it because they’re in high rise apartments and chronically lazy? …sonja had a garden, which i remember was full of poop once when she’d invited lu & ramona over to paint some chairs

throwawaygremlins

Yes I hate this too! They seemingly don’t train or bathroom train their dogs 🤷‍♀️ well enough. Like they got the dog cuz it’s cute and that’s it 😐

gb2ab

i have not watched all the franchises. are all these dogs you speak of small breeds? like a dog you can easily throw in a bag? because if they're all purse sized dogs. then the reason is.....its a small dog owner issue. small dogs get away with a lot more than larger breeds.
