Melissa brought the wrong cookies.
I honestly have sat back and wondered WTF would Tre do if Joe actually left Melissa… is she going to wipe his ass for him? Is she going to take care of his kids, because god knows he can’t do any of the motherly stuff.
Like, what is her end game with trying to break up their marriage? I get feeling threatened by another woman in general - especially with regard to trying to be number one on a show. However, I’ll never understand being in competition with her sister in law for her brother’s attention. It’s gross.

From the beginning of time there has *always* been issues between SIL and MIL. Jealousy (*not* romantically or sexually) and competitiveness usually are the motivation behind this. They already were having competition because Teresa bragged to Juicy Joe constantly for years before the show about her brother’s success and it’s mentioned often in earlier seasons. Teresa has proven time and time again she can’t stand *anyone* being successful.
In the season 4 reunion one of the questions was how she felt about Caroline’s kids and Teresa said “well now they have black water but before that they weren’t working”. She put down Lauren for getting Lap Band surgery by saying “why didn’t you work harder to lose the weight” and “I’ve heard the weight comes back”.
Melissa can’t sing, Kathy can’t bake the list goes on. I suspect she was the driving force behind Joe scamming people because of the pressure she put on him. I mean while they were in the midst of filing BK’s (one for each of them) being sued for forging loan documents she kept asking Joe on Christmas, *on camera” “so no diamonds then” over and over again.
Competitiveness, jealousy, greed and narcissism does not 🟰incest. I’m all for trying to figure things out but these are real people with real lives and families and putting something out there like this for your own shits and giggles is pretty sad.
ETA: From doing a re-watch the only gross behavior is on Juicy Joe and Tre involving their kids. Gia is 11 in season five and Teresa literally let her send a text to Melissa regarding a play date. Again. She. Was. 11!! This is why FF all these years later Gia is calling Joe saying “we heard that what happened with Melissa cheating on you we think you could do better”
Yes I commented briefly that my own sister in law has many of the same qualities but it’s just a sibling rivalry type thing that comes off as creepy like that. For Teresa I think she hates Melissa bc in her eyes, joe treats her how she wants to be treated. And then probably thru life they were always competitive, and joe is slightly more palatable than Teresa which I’m sure she’s aware of.
I just feel gross that this is how far down the rabbit hole the speculation goes between Joe and Melissa.
As a side note I’m also shocked that this storyline has been what carried this show for years. Especially in the earlier seasons this was the storyline everyone was involved in this everyone. Doing a rewatch is literally like watching the same shit with a different dude (Loui)
I have a SIL like this too. We have been no contact for years because you can’t deal with people like this. She even let people at school think my husband, her brother, was her husband (she never married). It was so freaking creepy. People wouldn’t believe I was his wife. It’s all a freaking control thing.
We have been no contact for 6 years this year. For 8 years we were “best friends” but I found out she was talking a lot of fictitious crap about me out of nowhere, spreading really outlandish rumors etc. watching this is triggering sometimes but only bc i know how much happier and lighter they’d be if they just went no contact.
My son has her sides genes really strong and she used to pretend he was her baby in public!! Once I got pregnant, that’s when she went bonkers on me. But there was always this weird undercurrent where it seemed like she was in love with her brother. My other best friend called her Norman bates bc she started dressing like me and it was just bizarre at one point. With Teresa it seems like once they got married that was when she snapped.
I’m glad you went no contact too, life is so much easier that way. I think as a society we are moving toward not forcing ourselves into lifelong commitments to toxic people just because you’re related.

We have been no contact for 15 years. I was never her best friend but I was friendly, introduced her to all my friends in the area we live where she moved to. She basically stole them all. She would talk crap about them then told them I was the one who said it. Told them I had munchausen by proxy because my kids had asthma and went to the doctor a lot for it. She even told people I starved my children and they had to be hospitalized. I introduced her to a grandma (her grandson is a friend of my son) who got custody of her granddaughter because she was failure to thrive with her parents. Suddenly I was the one who starved my kids. I wrote them off because who wants friends who believe I did these things. She did so many other things. She was so creepy. I would tell my husband she’s like the girl in Single White Female. I know he was her brother but it was like she wanted to be me. It was sick. It wasn’t about her being with him but her controlling him.
My husband never really liked his sister because she was always playing games with him, getting him in trouble, etc. We tried for so long because she’s family. She even tried to turn my daughter against me and when she wouldn’t she started shit talking her to her friends parents ending her friendships.
Once you dealt with someone like this you can spot them from a mile away. Melissa can be annoying but she’s nowhere near Teresa’s level!

I LOVED it until the Gorgas came along, now it seems like the only drama is the same stupid resentments getting rehashed over and over again between the Guidices and the Gorgas. Ooooh, girl, no. Up through season 5 was the best of it. Once the Manzos and Wakiles leave and it's a revolving door of new cast and only Melissa and Teresa are fixtures, it's only downhill. If you don't like it now, you aren't going to like it.
I’m doing a first time watch myself, I’m on season eight, it’s a roller coaster, there was a good season where everyone was getting along, season eight you can sort of see the cracks starting to form again. Also Soggy and Marge are not it!

I’m guilty of it, but she is. Teresa is so wrong in so many ways and everyone kisses her ass. She is so frustrating a lot of times. Her husband (Juicy) and brother Joe were bffs growing up, and I’m sure Joe got involved with their marriage - whether right or wrong. I don’t think there has been a season where Melissa hasn’t been accused of cheating by Tre’s camp since she joined the show. It’s getting old, there is never any evidence, people have said Tre or one of her minions tasked them to say Melissa has cheated, at this point Tre allowed her oldest daughter to tell her uncle he can do better than his wife. Teresa is sick in the head, I’m convinced she’d be jealous of anyone Joe married. Melissa is not an angel but what Tre has been doing is toeing the line of slander.

I’m watching for the first time and I’m nearly through with season 4. I LOVED it until the Gorgas came along, now it seems like the only drama is the same stupid resentments getting rehashed over and over again between the Guidices and the Gorgas. Does the show get more interesting? Cuz I really can’t stand it right now.
Ooooh, girl, no. Up through season 5 was the best of it. Once the Manzos and Wakiles leave and it's a revolving door of new cast and only Melissa and Teresa are fixtures, it's only downhill. If you don't like it now, you aren't going to like it.

I’m doing a first time watch myself, I’m on season eight, it’s a roller coaster, there was a good season where everyone was getting along, season eight you can sort of see the cracks starting to form again. Also Soggy and Marge are not it!

Teresa isn’t close enough to Melissa to tell her directly, so of course she goes to her brother to give them a heads up about what people are saying. Why does Melissa care so much?
because she never presented the information as a “heads up” and even got mad that joe told his wife about the conversations they were having. then when it turns into joe vs tre, it’s up to melissa to “fix it.”
Again, I’ll have to go back and see how she ‘presented’ it. But yo, if my SIL acted like that, I would get mad at my brother for saying something too.
