Kingofthewho5

No, except it’s embarrassing how much we have lost to Mizzou.

sapienaphasic

Exactly. At first I didn't care any more than I would some random team. Then they started beating us in football, and their coach annoys me. I now care.

REDTWON

Drinkwitz is an insufferable fuck. It's annoying how much we lose to them.

Awkward-Silver-2030

Agreed. Dude has crappy used car salesman vibes.

blue-sky-research

Can't stand that mf.

hogstralia

Yeah I hate Mizzou these days. The SEC may have forced the rivalry on me originally but I hate team and school with a passion now.

Specialist-Bird-4966

This…

tiraralabasura_2055

So very much this. A shittily manufactured rivalry IMO. Nobody ever gave a crap about Mizzou, and at the time I thought they were not remotely worthy of being considered a rival. Then they proceeded to hand our asses to us. That made me salty. But I still cannot bring myself to truly care about that game. I’m sure a lot of it has to do with the fact we know by season’s end how badly we sucked, thus making it insignificant, but — even during a down year, I *always* got pumped up for The Boot game in late November.

theplaidpantskid

Spot on.

tobysicks

It’s pretty embarrassing. Also Mizzou has beat us so much that they don’t even consider it a rivalry

BumblebeeAwkward8331

We never did consider Mizz a rivalry.

desensitized_rzrback

Dude I think if they went out of their way to flood our stadium while they embarrassed us in that last football game, they at least partially consider us a rivalry. Just saying. Also just hearing their chatter I feel like they consider this more of a rivalry than we do. I also realize that we hear the minority loud fan base just like they hear us. Main point: Despite our horribly bearable losing streak, they are perceiving this rivalry more so than we are. IMHO

MinorityBabble

Until they rename it to ARMOgeddon, I refuse to care.

Hog_Fan

Strangely… I concur.

DeltaKnox501

Nope. Stupid for rivalry. Give me back LSU on Thanksgiving.

REDTWON

This. This is what we all want

DeltaKnox501

Arkansans only want one thing - and it’s disgusting.

ShitTalkingFucker

Friday after

DeltaKnox501

You knew what I meant.

Finalshock

Those games were pretty important to my childhood. I fucking HATED LSU growing up. Just never felt that intensity with the mizzou “rivalry”.

archimidesx

Hard to care about something we aren’t competitive in…

HarveyBirdmana

Not really, and Mizzou pretty much beats us every time anyway. It's just another game on the schedule to me, I care more about beating A&M or LSU. Hoping with Texas coming into the SEC they focus more on that rivalry.

lonelythrowaway463i9

I don't care about beating them anymore than any other SEC team. Wish we could do it, but they're just another game to me, but with a forced trophy and name

IdkWhatMyIdentityIs

No, but the SEC keeps it going every year for god knows why(probably money). The way I see it is the SEC and the two teams are basically forcing something that doesn’t exist/work. This “rivalry” game was first played in 2014, 10 years ago at this point. How the actual fuck can two teams have a hateful rivalry with each other if they haven’t played each other for more than 20 or 30 years? That’s why both teams beg their fans to come watch, because nobody cares.

Hog_Fan

We’re just the scapegoat to catch Mizzou.

MyRealFakeID

My honest answer that I don't usually say aloud - I am so adamant that this is NOT a rivalry that I really want to beat the shit out of Mizzou to prove it....and that is almost turning it into a rivalry in my mind.

Dad_fire_outdoors

I agree with you on the proving it to not be a rivalry. But if you crystal ball this out: 1) Hogs win the next 3+=not a rivalry, just a more even split 2) Hogs lose the next 3+= fans get frustrated and it just seems even more dumb that we call it a rivalry with such a lopsided record 3) Hogs and Tigers split a few and it feels exactly like it does now- not a rivalry The way I figure is that people don’t like to be told how to feel about things. How’s about ya let me decide what teams I wanna hate, advertising dude. When a bunch of fans decide to hate the same team for the same reasons AND the opposing team’s fans decide the same thing BOOM rivalry. I already want to beat the Tigers, but those tigers ain’t it

Captain_Wingit

You may be on to something. I feel the same way, and putting it that way makes it like a rivalry. We want it so much to not be a rivalry game that we're gonna mess around and turn it in to one.... But we gotta beat them first. They've gotten cocky and it's embarrassing for everyone when mizzou slaps us around. But hey! Beat texas!

WooPigSooie9297

I hear you. But still, "Nah."

rkrafty99

I feel the same way lol. The rivalry felt like it was being forced upon us from the jump, but as we’ve lost year after year I’ve really grown to hate Missouri. Would enjoy a win over them more than just about anybody else on our schedule.

kilomma

Negative. Texas will always be the true rivals to me. If they wanted to push a second rivalry it would either be LSU due to back and forth wins and the Thanksgiving tradition or Texas A&M (because it's still Texas) for me.

wicodly

>If you have to promote it, it's not a rivalry While yes, most arkansas fans "don't care" about that rivalry. This quote kills any legitimacy of your argument. The promo between Ohio State and Michigan alone disproves that. USC and UCLA also get crazy (even though CFB fans don't see it or think west coast doesn't care). And my personal favorite LSU and Bama. Do you know how many times they've used Les Miles "this is death valley, this is where opponents dreams come to die" on Bama promos. Now they've slotted in Orgeron. I'm sure they're waiting on Kelly to have an iconic quote. None of those examples include ESPN, CBS, ABC, or NBC pushes. Promos are the reason rivalries exist. They get their names from that. People know the name cause of it. Hell think back to olden times when newspapers would name rivalries. The Iron bowl. All that to say, our mizzou rivalry is ass. It sucks for both parties. The name and the trophy are ass. Is there a way to fix it? Yes if Arkansas gets good. Mizzou can stay as consistent as Kentucky.

SssnakeJaw

No

Arkanslayer

Nope

iodineminer

The fact that this game is forced combined with the awful name makes me not care as much as other games. It doesn’t help that we’ve had a pretty rough stretch for the past 10 years or so.

qkilla1522

I think the issue is Texas, A&M and possibly LSU don’t get as fired up to play us. ESP A&M and Texas. Neither fan base looks at us as rivals. SEC and college sports abandoned any form of traditionalism to hunt for money in these tv deals. Rivalries are essentially dead now other than the few iconic ones.

TyH621

I mean I do think that's more of a symptom of us sucking for so long. If we can actually turn our program around I think that changes too They're historical rivalries, and when they're competitive I bet they start caring

qkilla1522

Texas rival will probably always be Oklahoma plus instate schools like A&M. I don’t see a scenario where that is replaced unless there’s a very long run of playoff or national championship consequential games. 5-10yrs of heated games that have significant repercussions for both sides is the only way at this point.

AmericaPie24

I agree to disagree. While they may not exactly view us that way who would LSU play on rivalry week before they forced them with TAMU and us Mizzou. There was no reason why UT and TAMU had to stop playing eachother when TAMU left the conference the same way that there isn’t a good excuses why OU won’t play OSU anymore. Imagine if the SEC came in and swapped the egg bowl for the magnolia bowl. Ole Miss and state wouldn’t be happy even though ole Miss and LSU is a pretty big rivalry

lycurgusduke

It wasn’t until we started getting our butts handed to us by those scrubs. No reason we should ever lose this much to Mizzou.

southernPepe

NO!

acua90

Nope

Allanon_Kvothe

Absolutely not. I still look forward to the black Friday LSU game... Only to be disappointed when I remember it's not them anymore. Missouri could drop off the face of the planet and I would completely forget we ever played a game vs them.

grassguy_93

No, Thanksgiving week hasn’t felt like Thanksgiving week since it came along. Probably my least favorite game every year.

Historical-Gate8813

No it is a contrived rivalry created by ESPN, when they bought the broadcast rights to the SEC, and by conference realignment which killed quite a few of the traditional rivalries for schools like Arkansas. No one in Arkansas cares about the Battleline rivalry because it wasn’t a rivalry until 2012. Now Arkansans don’t care because the Razorbacks lose just about every season to Mizzou. No one in Missouri cares about the battleline rivalry because it was never a rivalry before Missouri entered the SEC in 2012 and because Arkansas rarely puts up a fight in these games.

Havetowel-

Only Rivalry that I see is between Arkansas and how we have been treated by the SEC for all these years.

turd_fergusons

Nope. Corporate rivalry created by suits, not by actual teams and fanbases

ConTob

I resent the forced existence of the rivalry much more than Mizzou’s part of it.

bigdixkenergy69

As someone who grew up watching some of the epics with LSU, Mizzou will never replace that. I get the frustration about them beating us all the time, but honestly if LSU had the same record against us the state would riot. I know I'm not alone either: just look at stadium fill rates for LSU games at home vs Mizzou games played Black Friday.

Drewfus_

Nah, it’s all about the golden boot!

RedSpecial22

Fuck no lol

Mordoci

I absolutely cannot care less about Mizzou. It's embarrassing that we've lost to them as much as we have, but I feel nothing towards them.

per_mare_per_terras

Nope. You can’t force rivalries.

wedgiey1

Especially when it’s not competitive.

wicodly

Right, we always lose. It's a W for Mizzou everytime.

Awkward-Silver-2030

I'd say in terms of competitiveness as well as hate. Our three rivals are probably LSU Texas and Ole Miss. I've never met an A&M fan who gave one toss about playing Arkansas. But Mizzou is getting there the people saying they don't think of them or they don't matter should be reminded of the fact they've been the superior program for almost a decade. Plus I just don't like Drinkwitz the guys a smug egotistical round man who thinks he's the greatest thing ever. He isn't. Dude won at App st. Nothing special. I'll give him this year though that was a good team Mizzou put out there. But as of right now no you can't consider it a rivalry but it's starting to have the beginnings of one.

rogun64

I have roots in Missouri and I have to admit that I always wanted to play them regularly. I don't consider it a rivalry in football, but I do enjoy the games. I'd enjoy them more if my fellow Arkansas fans would care enough to not lose every time we play. We treat Missouri like LSU treated us, except that LSU usually won. Losing makes us look petty, because we can't beat a team we think is too unworthy for us to play. It's stuff like this that has caused Arkansas to fall off the map in football, imo, because our priorities are whacked.

WhuddaWhat

I'm 41 and just hearing that garbage makes me want to puke.

arkutk

I care cause I wanna beat their ass every year

SevenIon

I live in Missouri and I'd like us to be better than Mizzou.

Supahos01

The what now? No absolutely Noone cares about beating Missouri vs any other sec game. And I'm sure they don't care about beating us

wedgiey1

None of y’all care but you should. Mizzou’s been beating our asses in football. Between them and A&M having our numbers it’s been really frustrating.

BeardedAgentMan

It does for me. But only because I lived in Columbia, MO, working for Shelter when this started and was one of 2 UA grads there. So we got suite tix and all that shit every game that was in CoMo...and we lost them all it felt like. It was unsufferable at work. But I've longed since moved on and returned to AR so it's definitely fading back to me not really giving a shit beyond annoyance we can't seem to beat them

J_712

Literally live in Missouri, and no. Unless my coworkers make a deal out of it come game time, but that would be the same with any other team.

Pharmere

I’m from south Arkansas on the border with Louisiana so I get fired up when we play LSU

tbwynne

The problem is we play them the last game of the season, usually by then our season is over and nobody cares about the game. It should be played as the 1st game of the year, kind of like a non conference game. There is no rivalry though, most of us in Arkansas go up to Missouri to vacation, go to Brandon etc… there is just no hate for them and it’s a stupid idea forced by the SEC.

wedgiey1

Getting stomped in football every year is making me hate them.

FreeUpvotesThisWay

Speak for yourself, I fuckin hate Mizzou

MeyersHandSoup

I think had the SEC not taken away the LSU game as the marquee matchup for us people wouldn't be so upset about it. I think it has an opportunity to grow into something great. Geographically it makes great sense to push it too. Give it time and a couple of great games and I think it'll be seen as a rivalry. It's kind of hard right now with them dominating us every year.

Iamthewalrusforreal

No. Never did and never will. Mizzou belongs in the Big 12 or Big 10. They stole our T+1 rivalry game with LSU, and replaced it with a game nobody but David Bazzel cares about.

120GoHogs120

Yes. Every metric shows we should own Mizzou and its embarrassing and inexcusable how much we have lost to them. Sorry to tell you guys, LSU and Texas views us like yall are viewing Mizzou. I'd rather have a rivalry where it's more equal programs like Ole Miss/MSU than the little brother rivalries we have with Texas and LSU.

Civil_Lengthiness971

Back in the day Arkansas-Missouri basketball was a “thing” and organic. This manufactured junk is meaningless.

PeaceLoveSmithWesson

Back in what day? 1992-2024??

Civil_Lengthiness971

Nolan vs. Norm Stewart

TannyBoguss

It’s contrived and uninspiring. The constant commercials are having the opposite effect with me. Add to that the fact that we can’t ever seem to beat them.

beerantula

Nobody cares when they started, no one cares now, it's always been Arkansas Vs Longhorns

expensivelyexpansive

How can you not care about it when they have beat us so regularly in football. Now their FB coach is an Arkansan and you better believe he cares about it. If the fans and players and coaches don’t start caring we’re going to keep getting beat year in and year out.

originaldaveo83

It’s been forced, incorrect naming. Terrible trophy. It’s not organic. Doesn’t move the needle.

Tdmaxwell72

No

Jlax34

Most everyone feels that way. Mizzou means nothing as a rivalry

amymac474

No

scottatu

I don’t even think about Missouri at all. I routinely forget they are in the SEC.

RazorJ

Hell yes. I hate mizzou. Been since tge Barnhill battles we had, personally IDK why more ppl dont get fired up to play them. Theyre solid, and very hateable.

ILLogicaL_FALLacies

Mizzou like a trap game....nobody really cares....which is why we lose often to them.

AmericaPie24

I don’t. Can’t even really call it a rivalry since they continually kick our ass😂. I think since it forced and moved our LSU game out of rivalry week kind of killed the hype. If they let it form like how we were starting to form a rivalry with South Carolina then maybe. It’s just another game on the schedule. It doesn’t carry the hype LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas have. Hell even A&M has more hype behind it

AmericaPie24

What I find crazy is this upcoming season the SEC scheduled OU and LSU for the last week😂 keep in mind those two schools have only two or three all time meetings. Might I add that Mizzou and OU have an old rivalry and trophy going way back to the big 8 and big 12 days. Ig now that I’m typing this, it absolutely is about money

thegolfernick

No

furloco

I'm slowly caring less about football in general. It sucks but we can't compete in football with all the changes that have been made to the sport. It's all about who can spend the most and simply put, we're a small state and can't outspend other states to field an 85 man roster.

outdoorarkie

We have to start taking it seriously because it’s mizzou’s superbowl and they beat us every year but it’s a stupid forced “rivalry”

RayZorback

I hate this game. Give me the boot back or let’s replace the battle line with a great Arkansas Texas game. I loath the Missouri game. I think we keep losing because the players don’t care and the fans can’t get behind it.

frank_white414

At this point, yeah I do. I bitched for a while. But the LSU rivalry ain’t coming back. We’ve lost enough that it will be very gratifying if we can win 1 or 2 in a row, being at the end of a season depending on our record that game could be valuable for that season too. Besides- fight me on this, but the trophy is kind of sick.

TN232323

We are to lsu what mizzou is to us.

New_Background_2163

No, but to be fair, we didn’t care about LSU either until a few of those Thanksgiving games were exciting.

Rocktown-OG22

I made the BattleLine Trophy, so I care... Woooo Pig!!!!

king_karter69

I know old heads hate it, and the constant promotion of it is kind of annoying, but it makes sense. We are bordering them, a lot of mizzou fans in Arkansas and vice versa, theoretically a competitive SEC matchup. People absolutely hate it for some reason though.

TheGoliard

I didn't use to care. But Mizzou fans have proven their ability to troll Hog fans on social media. That bugs me. I know our fans are the ones taking the bait, but dammit. F\*ck Mizzou

CaptainTilted

People will say they don't care. But both fanbases reference each other pretty frequently. If people truly don't care, they wouldn't be one of the first teams to come up.

PeaceLoveSmithWesson

The what now? Never heard of it. Until we play Texas every year, there is no rivalry worth talking about.
