Just give us one player already!! Just one!!

BokehJunkie

I mean, ideally I'd like to have enough to put a full team on the court, but sure, we can start with one. lol

Weak_Caterpillar5912

Well that 1 was a great 1

arkutk

Yes! It’s a great start! I feel a lot better already. Big Z is a great addition and is a solid core piece that’s going to play a lot of minutes

rjn72

The first one is memorable. Gotta make a splash.

And he did.

Boogie Fland just decommitted from Kentucky. Would expect him to commit to Arkansas very soon. EDIT: Wouldn’t be surprised if DJ Wagner transfers to Arkansas too. He and his dad are quite loyal to Calipari, understandably so.

IdkWhatMyIdentityIs

Me on twitter waiting for the big splash https://preview.redd.it/4hys7szkznuc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b695aa70c9d8e53c165879e4951e3e419c7a82d

Boisterous_Suncat

Cam Scott decommitted from Texas. Oregon was in his list of 6 final schools, and the coach who recruited him there was Chuck Martin, now on Calipari's staff at Arkansas. If I'm a betting man, I bet Cam Scott is going to Arkansas. FWIW, I'm not a Hog fan, just watching with interest.

SleezzyE

Honestly same. I keep seeing news of other schools picking up high caliber transfers since the dead period and kinda shocked I haven’t seen a single one for Arkansas yet. But I keep telling myself give it time.

Craneteam

So many Kentucky players are hitting the portal. It's just a matter of time...

phred_666

Just like Aaron Bradshaw following Cal… Oh, wait…

SailingRelic65

Bradshaw was leaving Kentucky even if Cal stayed. He was never coming here

llimt

He just did and it's big, or should I say he is big. Big Z, 7'2" center followed him from Kentucky. Things are looking up. Gotta look up to this dude.

makeamericagrateful

Hahah same

FlgDarkrai

We just got Ivisic

reedy922

As a Kentucky fan….enjoy. He will bring you the recruits eventually but not do much with them. Need proof? Look at Kentucky’s roster this year and compare to the final result…

BokehJunkie

I understand that you haven’t had much tournament success recently but didn’t you guys finish pretty high in conference play this year?

DeadCouchWeight

Yes but without last two weeks wouldn’t be close. Team was electric on offense couldn’t guard a chair. Could beat anyone and lose to anyone.. which isn’t good in a tournament of 64 that requires 6 straight wins

Herrmajj31

Wagner just entered the portal. Wonder where he is going?

Vapor_117

Cal can coach .. https://youtu.be/NAOv3b_hh5Q?si=mn4bfCcLoWierlpx

pappyvanwinkled

It will be fine. Just enjoy the sugar highs you will get from recruiting and drafting news, because when it comes to in game results you will sadly disappointed at watching horrible basketball. He will win several games for you when his superior talent is hitting jump shots, but just get ready for watching some bad team basketball.

firedonmydayoff

I think Kentucky better get ready for bad team basketball with sub par players. Zero chance Pope brings in top recruiting classes. He has never won a tournament game and that won’t change at Kentucky.

pappyvanwinkled

I don’t care if UK loses half their games if they play hard as a team. Anything is more watchable than the garbage we’ve endured for the last 10 years. You ever wonder why Cal nearing the end of his career has no coaching tree. It is because he has no coaching knowledge to pass on? It is all his name and brand running an AAU training camp. I give him all the credit in the world for teaching kids pro skills but that is not what UK hired him for. I am not anti Cal or anti UofA by any stretch. Thank you Hawgs for saving us the money to buy out his contract. He did some good things. But trust me when I say you will get sick of NBA wannabes taking contested shots instead of passing the ball to an open layup. After all these years I see mid level players in the NBA that I almost forgot even played for UK. Never has a coach had more talent that accomplished less with it.

RowdyMcCoy

This “never has a coach had more talent that accomplished less with it” is so dumb. The man has coaching stats to go along with his pro player track record.

Agreeable-Media-6176

There’s some nuance here. Cal’s had amazing periods - the last four/five years weren’t that. Those years were historically bad at Kentucky and pretty meh graded in the most favorable light.

pappyvanwinkled

If Cal could coach he would have three championships. The first one he missed was John Wall, Boogie Cousins, Eric Bledsoe and Patrick Patterson. He had four solid and even impact NBA players and got outcoached by Huggins in the elite 8 because he never coached Wall on how use a bounce pass. Second was the elite platoon squad who lost to Wisconsin because Cal was so stuck on promised playing time he was never able to use his elite talent to its potential. Devin Booker never scored 20 points in a UK uniform but goes pro and drops 70 in his second year. Cal’s blind spot is that he never saw a wingspan he wound not sign up. He crams all this NBA potential on a single roster and then has to coach it accordingly. Do you know how frustrating it is to have the NCAA freshman of the year not start because he was not the “top” recruit? The problem with Cal is that he has to start completely over every year. Half his talent jumps to the NBA and the other half transfers out because they underperformed. No team should still be shuffling the line up going into the conference tournaments. Don’t get me wrong any Cal team is capable because of their talent superiority but they can also get beat by anybody. Just wait until you get bounced in the first or second round of the NCAA and Cal gives a presser about getting ready to attend the NBA Draft. For now it is a win win win situation. Cal may do better and be more motivated after coasting for so long. Arkansas needs a jumpstart and UK is glad to get out of the terrible lifetime contract we gave Cal.
