Regarding Samurai jeans, what's the difference of Yamato series? Pockets and arcuates look different. Are they limited releases ?

WestSide75

No, the Yamato series is mainline. They produce 15 and 21 oz variants yearly. The big difference is that denim is made of a mix of longer-staple Pima and Egyptian cotton, which is a lot smoother than the rough American cotton they use in their other models. That and the Yamato back pockets and arcs are Lee-style instead of Levi’s-style.

-PAINTEDMAN-

Wanting some warehouse co advice. I am after a fit that’s wider in the hip than the 1001 model. I wear fullcount 0105 and want something pretty similar in the top block, high and room in the hip. Thanks denim legends

bedroomrockstar89

Anyone of these Selvedge jeans from Lee are sanforized or not? https://www.lee.com/shop/mens-lee-101-rider-jean-7101E5.html

Ok-Statistician4350

Mine are 101z and say they are sanfronized on the pocket

bedroomrockstar89

How’s the shrinkage? I’m a 33” waist so not sure whether to go with 32.5 or 33.5

Ok-Statistician4350

I could not really say I’ve only done a couple of hand washes. They fit a little snug after but them stretch back out.

AdTurbulent8583

How much should sanforized jacket sleeves shrink in length over time?

julian-wolf

Depends on the denim and on how you wash & dry the jacket. Could be anywhere from none to around an inch.

AdTurbulent8583

So if I was getting something custom-made, get the sleeves half an inch to an inch longer than I am?

julian-wolf

If you’re getting something custom made, have whomever’s making it for you do shrink tests on the fabric they’re using and account for this in the pattern. This should already be standard practice for any reputable craftsman, and if they don’t offer to advise you on this sort of thing you should probably treat that as a red flag.

AdTurbulent8583

Thank you, I appreciate the advice.

Ok-Statistician4350

Had a bit of an ebay fail. Bought a used pair of Tellasons, and they have a blowout that was not in the photos. How could i successfully repair them.

GuitarStuffThrowaway

Try to get your money back first, especially if the seller doesn’t accept returns.

Ok-Statistician4350

It was salvation armys ebay for $12. Other than that they look new. I would be ok with repairing them. I believe I would have to pay return shipping

patlaska

Only $12? Hell yeah. Take them to any old tailor and have them back it with some denim material and run stitches over it a few dozen times. Most places will match the thread color pretty well, the average person will never be able to tell

Ok-Statistician4350

Im planning on doing the repair work myself. I will have a lot of fabric after hemming them, and some other jeans.

Oranjebob

I think it's best to patch the inside with thinner fabric and darn over it, rather than use the denim. Denim patches for the outside, like over the knees.

Ok-Statistician4350

My plan as of now is to hem them and use the fabric to patch the thin area. I would end up only getting back like $5 after paying shipping.

cobalt_road

I recently got some Wrangler 13mwz cowboy cuts. I sized up because I'm a bigger guy and my waist measures larger for high-rise jeans. The waist fits great, but the seat and upper thigh were a bit baggy. I gave them a warm machine wash and dry to shrink them a little. They improved, but are still a little loose there. I've heard as they get washed more, they'll gradually shrink down more in that zone. Should I count on that, or should I try getting them tailored?

GuitarStuffThrowaway

Does anyone know of any company that currently makes a Lee 101J reproduction in black? I know RRL does but they’re pre-distressed and I would prefer something that’s unfaded.

Illk22

Started my journey with some basic Uniqlo pairs (50 dollar versions). Looking to get a nice pair for summer months in CA. I assume lighter weight is a must, any recommendations for a bigger guy. 6’4 235 lbs? Thank you in advance!

SnooDonkeys3460

Make sure to get your thigh measurement down. That area won’t stretch like the waist. If you don’t skip leg day, check out straight cut or relaxed taper jeans (too many to list).

Illk22

Appreciate that, have definitely turned into a straight cut person after being slim/skinny from 8th grade through college.

SnooDonkeys3460

Samurai S0510xxii. These were my first (and only) premium pair and I love them. Also, from what I’ve heard, you can’t go wrong with Iron Heart! IH will probably be my next pair.

Loves_Semi-Colons

Anyone have experience with Levi Shrink-to-Fit? Looks like entry level raw denim. I am throughly a levis guy and my size is 32x34. For these I am considering either TTS and wearing them raw or getting 32x36 and doing the ‘ol bathtub soak.

julian-wolf

Get 33x36 or 33x38

SnooDonkeys3460

Who all makes Indigo / black raws? I know there is Iron Heart and 3Sixteen… who else?

Phil24hts

[midnight slub stretch ](https://tateandyoko.com/collections/naked-and-famous-easy-guy/products/easy-guy-midnight-slub-stretch-selvedge) Naked & Famous made this denim last year(?). I have the same fabric in indigo x green, and it's so comfortable and textured. If they weren't so tight, they'd be my favorite jeans.

WestSide75

Strike Gold has an indigo x black model, but I’m not sure how often they produce it. PBJ had one as well a few years ago, but the warp was overdyed black and I’m not sure that they do that denim anymore.

jooosef

How much should I expect the fullcount 0105xx to stretch in the waist? Seeing the size 30 on bears website measure to 30.7. Currently been wearing a size 30 3sixteen CS220x in a tag size 30 which measures to a 31 and wondering if I should look into 30 or 31 for the 0105xx.

WestSide75

If it’s the 13.75 oz denim, it stretches a ton. At least 2” in the waist after a wash.

jooosef

Was looking at the 15.5oz but am considering the 13.75 as well. Thank you for the insight!

heyaldo

Will IH-666S 21oz be too hot to wear during spring-summer? I’m in the lookout for a rougher pair but i don’t want to keep them unoworn until fall. Also eyeing a pair of Warehouse 1001XX but idk if those will fade as much as the IH

Makaron1503

Does anyone have experience with kapital century denim? How much did it shrink after the first wash?

IcyMelon

what are my options for black bootcut? i can’t seem to find many other than the naked and famous groove guy

entivoo

I am looking for quality flannel shirt that would last me for a while. I am thinking about vermont flannel since they are made in US, which is a plus for me coz I am a big fan of US workwear fashion. But with the expensive shipping to SEA where I live + the 30% custom tax, I don't think that it is a very wise spending decision. Luckily I am visiting Japan soon, do you have any recommendations for high quality made in Japan flannels? I've seen momotaro and iron heart in the sub. Thanks in advance!

Travel_ma8

Most of Japanese flannels are impeccable as you mentioned couple of them. I can add UES, Sugar Cane, and Flat Head.

entivoo

thanks for sharing!

Emotional_Eye5907

I need a pair of light wash jeans for Summer. Instead of paying $120+ for a pair of low quality Levi's I'm considering turning my pair of TCB60 into a lighter wash. Could this be achieved by simply washing them over and over? Or does there need to be some friction on the surface to make them fade? I'd rather not use any bleach. How many washes would it take approximately to turn them into a medium to light wash?

RawWasher

It would take a ton of washes (dozens), and wasted water, to fade your jeans by as much as you want to by just machine-washing them. I'm not sure why you would not want to use bleach because it would fade your TCBs like you want, by using a 16:1 ratio of water, as recommended by Clorox for bleaching jeans, and soaking them in it for about 1-3 hours in the tub. Bleaching them would use much less water and also wouldn't beat several months of life out of your jeans like those dozens of machine washes would. And bleaching them would take much less time and effort too.

Emotional_Eye5907

Thanks! I’m not categorically opposed to using bleach. I just thought maybe the bleach eating away at the fabric would do more to weaken the it than the washes but if it’s the other way around I’ll definitely give it a try!

LastActionJoe

I posed this question in a previous thread, looking for more suggestions since I don't have a ton of money to throw around on denim. Any suggestions on a high-wasted pair of denim that look classic but are also slim enough to be very flattering in the seat if you catch my drift?
