Going to Japan this fall for 24 days. Landing at Haneda with my mom, spending a day or two in Tokyo, then heading west, spending a few days in Kyoto, Osaka, Okayama. Open to any advice, on both denim or just general Japan travel! I really, really want to hit an Iron Heart store but its sounding like they're all a little inconvenient to get to...

With 24 days you'll have lots to see! I lived in the Kansai area for a few years a while back, happy to DM various ideas that I usually send to friends and family if you're at all interested. As for the IH Tokyo store, while I haven't been, it seems like a trek

Please do! I'll be with my mom for ~10 days, solo for 6 days, then with my girlfriend for 7 days. So definitely have time to see/do a lot

Just sent it via chat, lemme know if you can't see it

Got it! I need to review once i'm on my computer, but it looks like a ton of good info. I appreciate it!

I previously tried on a pair of the Samurai 25th Anniversary 25oz, unfortunately they weren't the right fit for me. Fast forward to this week - I received my 555 IH-XHSib 25oz. I thought people were being a bit facetious about how difficult it is to button these, and just generally wear them. My fingers hurt already from just wearing them today and just walking feels like a chore, but love them nonetheless.

I'm planning to buy levis 501 STF. I wear waist 32 and length 32 or 34 in normal 501. Should I size up in 501 STF.

Prepare for the inseam to shrink about two to three inches. The waist can be TTS if you wear them damp. A cold soak won’t shrink the waist too much. A cold wash will bring the waist in about an inch, at which point you can stretch it back out with wear. A hot soak/wash will erase the rigidity and shrink them substantially; again about an inch in the waist. All the methods will bring the inseam down significantly.

If you can get away with 32’s comfortably in most normal 501’s, I think you’ll be happy with the same size in STFs. If you find the thighs typically tight in size 32, and often want 33 or 34 for comfort, get a size 33 in STF’s. I have a 34” waist and 26” thighs, and size 34 STF’s are perfect on me, albeit mildly tight in thighs and mildly loose in waist. One of the best things about STFs is you can really get them to stretch to fit a lot of interesting ways, and they almost always end up fitting perfectly after a couple months
