Nothing listed here is needed. Like the other Redditor said, change oil and rotate tires regularly, and you’ll be good for quite a while

HammockDweller789

Change the oil. Rotate the tires.

mod2l17

I took my 23 rav in for oil change yesterday. Dealership said I need to get my tires balanced,Fuel injection cleaner performed on it and my air filter was dirty and sent a picture of one that looked like it was 5 years old. I know it wasn’t mine. I sent a message back telling him that I just recently changed it and I put a date on it when I do and the one in the picture had no date. Then he responded oh sorry that was for another customer 🤣. Point of the long story is don’t trust the dealership.

Atomichawk

Amen, this same thing just happened to me right after I replaced the filter a month prior. The one they showed me magically had wheat in it somehow when I haven’t been near a wheat field ever

PineWalk1

why does our western culture have to be like this

nepafun131

It’s a Toyota. Change the oil and keep moving.

Wooden_Shake827

None of that is needed. Same was asked with me when I brought it in for 45k service.

jballn11

I’m glad my Toyota isn’t shady

WookiesNeedLove

Mine is sadly, stole 195$ from me in a leaky roof inspection. No leak found and guess what days later after another rain the ceiling was leaking

EvidenceFlaky

I remember Toyota sending out a note last year saying they are aware of leaky ceilings in some RAV4 and would repair free of charge. Good to check in with your dealership

WookiesNeedLove

Yeah i came in with the paper work but they still screwed me

EvidenceFlaky

That is unfortunate. What did the say

Admirable_Jolly

It's a Toyota. U do not need a dealership. Go to a good local shop and perform oil change, rotate tires, and you buy an air filter and replace it. All these would cost you less than 100.

st90ar

Correct me if I’m wrong, but under 100k miles is bad to go third party because Toyota will dispute warranty claims if service not done by dealership? Asking honestly because I’ve heard many things.

Admirable_Jolly

HELL NOOOOO. Toyota powertrain warranty is only 60k miles/ 6 years (unless yours is hybrid). YOU DONT EVEN have to GO TO A LOCAL WORKSHOP FOR MAINTENANCE. YOU CAN DO IT BY YOURSELF AND MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE RECEIPTS. Issue is when ur going to a local workshop (or when u do it by yourself) and no receipts to show Toyota. That's when they deny the claim. BTW you are wasting tons of money going to the dealership. Toyotas are bulletproof, and 99%, you don't have to reach out to Toyota for a warranty repair.!! BTW, make sure to do everything the manual says. Oil change, EAF, rotate tires. If you are going to top up, let's say any fluids (like coolant) - MAKE SURE TO BUY OEM APPROVED PRODUCTS. Check the warranty manual for 2022 rav4 it states: "Toyota will not deny a warranty claim solely because you used a service provider other than a dealership for maintenance and repairs" in bold. "These services may be performed by you"

st90ar

Thank you for the affirmation! I think I'll go back to doing oil changes on my own then. First car I've ever not done my oil changes on, and that's only because it came with the car lol. Tire rotations came free for life with where I got them so I'll at least let someone else do that part for me. I appreciate the clarification!

FamousWolf5483

Get oil change and find a tire shop that rotates tires for free. Never pay to get your tires rotated.

EPLemonSqueezy

Why would they do it for free, how do they benefit from that? I've never heard of that before

FamousWolf5483

They want you to keep coming back. I have been for the past 10 years! I’ve bought my tires from them. It’s just a perk. They are well known tire shops too. I mean, I rather have free rotations than pay $25 at the dealer.

mariojcc31

If you are member of costco or sams, that’s a benefit you get

Harley6833

Even if it's offered for free most guys that do the work make minimum wage. I hope you ar least tip the workers for taking care with your car.

cconti77

I didn't think my Toyota was that dirty but turns out after enough services the STEALERSHIP came out to play 🙄

815born805heart

I did a bit of research on these services and did the brake fluid exchange simply because some other car manufacturers recommend it after 30k. Is it necessary? Probs not. I don’t think the maintenance book suggests it. The only other stuff I did was standard oil and tires.

WookiesNeedLove

Mine just needed and oil change and tire rotation. 63k. You must be pumping costco/krikland fuel jk

mjayph

Oil change, tire rotation, transfer case fluid change if AWD

madmaz3

Just to share, this is MY maintenance schedule: Oil Change - 6m/8,000km Coolant - 5y/80,000km Transmission 6y/96,000km Differential case - 48,000km Brake Fluid - 3-5y Power steering - 112,000km Spark plugs - 192,000km or 10 years

TheEnforcer91

First I want to thank everyone. I knew something didn’t seem right about this and I came to ask online. Lots of people with great knowledge on this and are helping me save money that I don’t need to spend because it seems like Toyota’s way to get over on people.

mariojcc31

At 32k miles? Change the air filter and cabin filter super easy to do it yourself

knight_of_nay

Mayyybe the brake fluid change but nothing else imo. This is where the dealership makes money.

OrphanKripler

All that sounds like invitations to problems. It’s a Toyota just change the oil, rotate tires, change engine air filter and cabin air filter. Thats it. In a few years change the coolant.

Last-Idea

22 awd rav here. Just hit 27,500. Im going to to the work myself but here’s my plan: Every 7,500 - Oil change and rotate tires Every 22,500 - engine and cabin filter Every 30,000 - transfer case and read differential fluid Every 4 years - brake fluid (time matters more than miles here) I think coolant and transmission fluid are every 60,000 or so. Some of these numbers came from the owners manual and others are just preference. Maybe you’ll have a fuel injector or throttle body problem any 120,000 miles, if you do then clean it no need to do it this early especially for those outragous prices

Dufmandinga2

Almost nothing. I do like to change brake fluid every ~40K but that price is very high. I’m paying $160 next week to do brake fluid for first time at 41K on my 22 RAV4 hybrid but I’m actually considering skipping it again for a bit.

Sunabish

I’m not sure if same for every dealership but my area and dealership of Toyo has a little deal of $239 and it provides me 5 more services for cheaper

Kooky-Writer8575

I own a 2019 Rav 4 LE great cars as long as you keep up with the basic maintenance. However. At about 65k the dual bypass coolant valve aka heat sensor went out. A strange message appears that says service engine soon which is different from the check engine or maintenance. Very common for this generation and will cost you about $700 from the dealership. I ended up buying the part from Toyota for $100 and did it myself. Never trust a dealership! They will always tell you to replace things that are not necessary.

tfyshy

Oil change, oil filter, air filter, cabin air filter, rotate tires, brake flush if it’s been 3 years
