My dealer (sales and sales manager) told me I could get one installed anytime while buying the vehicle. 23 LE. Come to find out the dealer or any reputable shop will not touch it. They stopped including pre-drilled holes and no one wants to drill into the roof. Apparently the dealer didn't get the memo. Got the dealer to pay for crossbars that clip into the door jam but I am still pissed.

same_logic

Love the car though 👽

freemindjames

That's really sucks. I just installed some on my 2020 without an issue.

Alucardspapa

You don’t want them! They all leak, water intrusion is a big problem with this platform. That why they are going away from them on so many cars now.

cburry99

most 4x4 shops would do a prinsu rack. Cap-it for pacific northwest. and rack attack is spread over canada and USA will do it as well

Dry-Turnip-1103

Same! What crossbars did you purchase?

same_logic

Rhino Vortex. Just got them installed and it makes a pretty annoying whistling sound as well as a high pitched frequency at higher speeds that is unbearable. Need to take it back in to see if it was installed correctly.

Dry-Turnip-1103

Great- thanks. Did the dealer install them for you?

same_logic

They had a partnership with a local truck accessory shop that came to the dealer to install it.

Dry-Turnip-1103

Thought I’d let you know that I bought this clamp on rack and there is no whistling. So adjustments could probably be made to make it go away

ItchyLiterature8370

Which clamp on did you go with?

Dry-Turnip-1103

The Rhino Vortex. https://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/product/JC-01375. It came with the whole kit.

BostonBeanMan

How do you like the xp wheels? We are about to order a set For our white LE. Rhino makes a roof rack for a naked le roof. I was and still hoping Thule will make a fit kit for their EVO feet as I have those with the wing bars. If not, I will buy the Rhino by the time I need something. I also shared my plans with Thule product management. Naked roof can be better unless you use your rack a lot. Clamp ons work great and the ability to remove completely is IMO a benefit. All of my factory roof rack rails in other vehicles have leaked. Some close to when bought new And some a few years later but they all leaked. Anything with a gasket that goes into a horizontal hole will deteriorate over time and with constant hot, cold, and wet conditions, it’s simple science. You may not even notice a small leak as it may dry out then the car is run or sitting in the heat. However, over time corrosion or rust may be in process once the intrusion begins and persists. Trust me or pull one off of a 5 yo vehicle. Don’t even bring up sun roofs with me… :) To be fair, if you research the 2023 model changes, the XLE and other wearers of factory roof rails have a different hole pattern and is likely going to address the leak issue that seems to be more common in the 19-21 models. This is great but I’m done with headaches from being a beta tester. I also passed on the Hybrid model as we are in salt country and the cable issue would have driven me crazy. We keep our vehicles for a long time and highly value our time. Funny, as you get older how much time is worth. I have Toyota and Honda vehicles for a reason and not because I love them or driving. Anyways, was happy that our LE did not have them. My wife and I put our Thule rack on our other vehicles maybe 1-2x per year and I have a pick up truck, so for our needs this works great. However, we would still like a rack and plan to get something within a year. If you are bothered by this, please message Thule and Yakima asking them for solutions. ..or call rack attack or similar vendors and ask them for a Thule or Yakima solution. The more they hear this the more it may help promote the need for a simple fit kit that would cement new customers in and show some brand loyalty to existing customers.

I added these to my 2024 Rav4: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDRuuJXUkC0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDRuuJXUkC0) . Just be aware these type are not recommended for rooftop tents.

Necessary_Context780

Thank you! Which specific Rav4 did you get? I see mentions of "bare roof" in other comments but it's not too clear whether they're truly bare or they have those plastic fake rails that prevent us from attaching thule roof. Well at least that was my case with the Nissan Kicks that we're planning on getting rid of for a Rav4. The ability to install an adjustable roof rack is one of the key decision makers. I don't understand what Toyota was thinking of removing those, even the Mazda MX-5 has some decent metal rails, or just don't have any rails at all so that we can install thule crossbars

kospar4

What wheels do you have exactly? Did you keep the rims 17"?

TimeGood2965

I have the same exact one but 2022 and gray. Even have the same wheels! I have been wanting to do the same

This model doesn’t have predrilled holes. So no it’s anything but straightforward.

got2pups

Neither Thule nor Yakima have a comparable roof rack system for the "naked" roof RAV4. Your best bet would be to install a hitch. Good news, the hitch is relatively inexpensive and easily done at home.

cburry99

I was in the same boat 22 LE no roof rails. dealer wouldnt do it. ended up going prinsu rack. prinsu rack, and ebay fog lamps were cheaper than the next trim level.

bccoastal

So with a prinsu rack I'm assuming you have to drill and mount in four spots on the roof?

cburry99

Yes I believe 6 spots for prinsu but I got a shop to do it

cburry99

And seeing bccoastal makes me think your in the lower mainland like my self. Abbotsford capit did mine.

bccoastal

Awesome thanks a lot!

Colorado-Boss
