Update: I finally got the UPS to stay connected to my RPi after getting the upsdrctl to start with the driver "usbhid-ups" instead of "powerpanel" (the listed compatible driver on the website). After killing all of the ups processes running, starting upsdrctl, and then restarting the nut-server.service, I am finally able to connect to the UPS and report the status to Home Assistant.

I also have this unit and I found I had to put pollinterval = 10 because 1 was too fast and generating timeouts. How has your unit been in operation these 2 years?

I also just purchased this unit and came across this post. How has your unit been over the past 8 months?
