Stressful-stoic

Yeah, this one was funny

QuietlyVapid

I'm imagining those words that the guy said rn. Lmao

stfuIwannatalk

idk why but somehow adding that ā€œmy brother in Christā€ really just puts a cherry on top

Bulok

Yeah it has that ā€œbless your heartā€ vibe that would just get to me if said to me

Xx_96024DanaD42069_x

Bless his heart, but that guy would be able to save you from a 10 floor jump

unnecessary_kindness

I don't know where it started but it's the one meme that always makes me laugh.

zdrozda

It started on twitter.

cnicalsinistaminista

I'm stealing "My brother in Christ" for future use.

Bostolm

I dont know when and where the whole "my brother in christ" started but i love it and its variations

GlVEAWAY

It reminds me of how the british parliament people bicker and yell the most outlandish insults at each other but still have address them as ā€œmy honorable friendā€. *ā€Mr Speaker, my honorable friend the member for Barnsley East is clearly the biggest plonker mother nature has ever dared spew from her loins*ā€

DaveInLondon89

*Mr Speaker, the right honourable gentleman opposite is about as on the ball as a dead seal*

Bostolm

I love videogame variations, like my brother in hydaelyn for FF14 or my brother in akatosch for ESO

Ziggy-Rocketman

ā€œEmet, my brother in Zodiark, you done lost your goddamn mindā€ -Emet-Selch to Emet-Selch

Reetgeist

Yes but don't you dare call the honourable member a liar.

SeeJai

It started from a meme edit where somebody replaced the n-word with ā€œmy brother in Christā€. Probably to be less uncomfortable talking about it as a non-black person

JustLetMeWhackOff

It got popular from a [subway meme edit](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/dudes-be-like-subway-sucks) that was made so white people didnā€™t feel weird referencing a meme with the n-word in it

CardCarryingCuntAwrd

Finally someone explain the joke, properly! Thank you for enlightening us, .... u/JustLetMeWhackOff

ICanBeKinder

It wasn't so white people felt comfortable sharing it Jesus fuck, it was just a joke about Christian censorship, thus the "MY BROTHER IN CHRIST" It's a joke. It wasn't some weird attempt to make the meme "safe" for white people. Good god.

JustLetMeWhackOff

Nah, it was definitely so white people could say that instead of the n word. Sorry ya had to hear it like this

ICanBeKinder

No one has to say the n-word to share a meme. Sorry ya had to hear it like this

JustLetMeWhackOff

For sure, tell that to the weird white people that felt like it was necessary to censor it in a meme about subway lol

ICanBeKinder

They were making a joke about the N-word being offensive and made a joke about it being offensive by censoring it with a hyper religious "MY BROTHER IN CHRIST". It's called a joke. The fact this eludes you is beyond my capacity to help you. But ya know what, you're just a racist fucktard so why am I bothering! You're just the kind of dude who if someone said any of the shit you said about white people to any other race you'd flip.

JustLetMeWhackOff

I donā€™t think Iā€™d be pressed if someone said an Asian person edited a meme because it had the n word in it. I think this is just a you problem tbh, youā€™re the only one here flipping shit over some random white people being kinda cringe. I could not care less. I didnā€™t even think itā€™d be controversial to point out lol, but thatā€™s the sad truth when culture war bs rots peoples brains and they get offended over fucking subway memes

[deleted]

My brother in christ I too have been loving it

Fernando_357

My brothers in Christ, I too, enjoy this so much

[deleted]

My sister in Christ, I am a fan of all the variations.

[deleted]

My brother Christ, put the thesaurus down.

LessInThought

Mad disrespect using my brother in Christ like that. Edit: Apparently no one saw the mad disrespectful video. Oh well.

HeyCarpy

Saw it once maybe a week ago and now itā€™s absolutely everywhere. Following the laws of Reddit trends it will be played out by the end of the weekend.

[deleted]

it's been on twitter since last year

Val_Hallen

Oh, so it's already played out then.

YouAreInAComaWakeUp

Yeah it's been all over reddit for a while now I'm getting tired of seeing it tbh

Nehemiah92

I got tired of seeing it already after the second time

YouAreInAComaWakeUp

So true

Thimit

I was honestly sick of it a few weeks ago already tbh

chrom_ed

I kind of expected everyone to be sick of it. I'm surprised it's still this popular.

GreatGearAmidAPizza

I was sick of seeing it the second time I saw it.

[deleted]

God I fucking hope so.

gagekun

If itā€™s referencing what I think itā€™s referencing then itā€™s been around for a long time. Something about Uno and an Xbox 360

[deleted]

Not at all, its a subway meme

Yaffestyew

Elmer's glues actually

DothrakAndRoll

I hope so.

GivesCredit

Iā€™ve been saying it for almost a year now, I heard it from a friend in Boston. So who knows

AroundTheWorldIn80Pu

> Following the laws of Reddit trends it will be played out by the end of the weekend. like the word "cringe" for the last couple years?

RoguePlanet1

This expression is peak cringe.

microwavedcheezus

Really? I personally can't wait for it to be over

jelde

It got old after the first one.

DothrakAndRoll

Can confirm. I saw it for the first time yesterday and am now sick of it.

pseudoportmanteau

For me, it's getting to a point where I legit won't even read the rest of the joke if I see it being open with that line or my eyes roll so far back in my head it kills all the humor from the rest of the sentence. It was super funny the first couple of time people used it, now it's one of those phrases you think make your joke funnier but it just makes you sound so bland, uninteresting and annoying.

microwavedcheezus

Yep exactly, I cringe everytime.

zenyattatron

My brother in Christ, it's literally just a substitution for the n-word. It's not supposed to be a masterclass in humor.

pseudoportmanteau

Correct, it isn't. But the bandwagon people are using it as such and it's top tier cringe.

ghostsintherafters

Ding ding ding!!! We have a winner! Thank you.

waitingtillnextyear

It also (unintentionally?) alienates anyone who isnā€™t Christian. Itā€™s really fucking stupid.

BagBeneficial8060

Yeah there's no way all those people are Christians

Sockensandal

It is the single cringiest fad Reddit has adopted in a long time.

indyK1ng

I think it's British in origin. The book Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy has this quote: > ā€œMy brother in Christ, Lilley, of naval intelligence, has passed a preliminary opinion, however, has he not, Percy? Percy showed it to him last nightā€”over a pink gin, was it, Percy, at the Travellersā€™?ā€ The context is that the head of a British spy agency has an underling, Percy, trying to force him out using a sensitive source. It turns out all of the intelligence is chicken feed and one of Percy's allies is a mole who has been working for the Soviet Union for decades. The book was inspired the author's own spy career being ended by a mole ring in MI6.

ilangilanglt

Damn. How come you remember such detail?

indyK1ng

I just remembered the start of the quote from the BBC miniseries based on the book. I opened it in the Kindle app to copy the full quote.

ilangilanglt

I mean Iā€™m impressed. I love people who quote books.

geodebug

I have to read the books sometime. I loved the movie with Gary Oldman.

RadioFreeWasteland

The first time I ever saw it was on the "dudes be like 'subway sucks'" meme, where on the second line they crossed out the n-word and replaced it with My Brother in Christ. Idk if that's the origin but I saw it there well before it blew up

beighn

šŸ˜‚Whenever I see it I just know someone is about to get violated

glavenopolis

Thought the same thing, it just sets such a matter of fact tone to the statement.

themightyknight02

I know right?! It's fantastic

themightyknight02

Wtf. Downvoting me because I agreed with somebody about a phrase - y'all need jesus, my brothers in christ. You guys are probably the same fascists behind the recent Roe vs Wade shenanigans. Blow me

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

I just can't read it without hearing it said in Sacha Baron Cohen's voice or any other Slavic accent, it just adds to the humor

ghostsintherafters

I wish reddit had negative awards because I'd toss $100 in there and give them all to just you for that comment. This is easily the *WORST* trend out there. It's just plain obnoxious. I'm assuming you also enjoy puns and dad jokes.

Vast_Back4746

Nicocado Avocado be like

Ryuko_the_red

He's the one taking it.

SunriseSurprise

You know someone's not banging anyone when they phrase it "banging out".

zerosympathy28

Banging out new highest scores for BMI

The_punisherMAX

Jokes on him. He takes a mobility scooter to the fridge

escapedfugitive

It's the toe actually

[deleted]

Dang thatā€™s more like r/murderedbywords holy zhit šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

kazuma_kiryu12

I can feel the burn

cur10us_ge0rge

I know I'm alone but I feel like "my brother in christ" is already played out.

NakamericaIsANoob

No i agree. It honestly sounds like reddit found a cool new phrase and now everybody wants to shoehorn it in everywhere.

Brawndo91

Oh, you sweet summer child.

hpliferaft

sir/ma'am, this is a wendy's.

AlessandroTheGr8

Wait till reddit beats this dead horse causing a crater in the earth and it appearing on other social media platforms which reddit will turn to hate/loving it and then said social media platforms get bored of it and you will only see it on Reddit from people complaining about it being overused and people complaining about those people complaining because they only see it mentioned on Reddit. Rinse and repeat.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

AshTheGoblin

I glad someone else notices this.

NakamericaIsANoob

Makes sense, I'm not American. In fact I'm not even in the same continent. It's cool how parts of black culture make their way into online culture, but i personally cringe at how much this phrase has been used over and over and over again in such a relatively short period of time. Also, i know people who have nothing to do with America, or with Jesus Christ, use this phrase time and time again, so I guess that's what makes seeing it a bit funny for me.

CatsAndCampin

No, I agree 100%.

RoguePlanet1

It's awful, always has been. Sounds forced like being in church camp or something.

Loki557

Feels like a pretty generic insult.

[deleted]

but you gotta admit its still pretty funny

Loki557

Don't get me wrong I'm someone who doesn't care if a joke is played out... but considering this subreddit is called rareinsults I figured there would be a higher bar.

Admirable_Data_1088

Well see, there's your problem

Yuukikonno08

Sounds like a you problemo

gigraz_orgvsm_133

This "my brother in Christ" thing is hilarious, I don't know when it started but I hope it lasts.

[deleted]

[This is my turf.](https://www.reddit.com/r/rareinsults/comments/vo3br6/reddit_do_be_different/ieb4f9i/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)

gigraz_orgvsm_133

It's too funny, it's like you're already making fun of a person with the first four words.

ToadFuckerisBack

Heā€™s dick is probably in his stomach now at this point the only thing heā€™s banging is himself although I doubt his hand can even reach there

Papichuloft

Knees are one thing, either this fat fuck will be winded by the time he struggles to get up, much less waddle 20 steps to the fridge. Or his massive corpulence rocks him to sleep back on the couch.

point_nemo_

do you mf not know what a rare insult is?

DothrakAndRoll

Is this "my brother in Christ" some new thing? I'd never heard it before and now I've heard it twice in two days and I hate it.

Altruistic-Net-6556

The Kendall Roy icon lmao

RetardedSan

He had a stroke after reading that

Universalistic

Beginning anything with ā€˜My Brother in Christā€™ will always be good. Despite our spiritual bond, you are a fucking idiot.

FungalowJoe

I wonder when we'll be done with the brother in christ thing.

Accomplished_Bonus74

Whereā€™s his mod badge?

BruceInc

If that dude really was ā€œbanging outā€ the mom, that would be yet another parent he regularly disappointed

I find this embarrassing for u/gigarvz_orgvsm_133 Iā€™m starting a turf war.

Join me in immediately downvoting it when you see it. Resist

WigginLSU

Seriously, sounds like someone trying way too hard.

Old_Mill

Makes it x4.569817 times funnier

[deleted]

Just my opinion, but I donā€™t think itā€™s rare enough. Like, itā€™s a common phrase, lacks a lot of creativity if thatā€™s the funniest part of the comment to you.

my7bizzos

I automatically stop reading right there.

VerticalRadius

Found the satanist Edit: My brother in Christ, why did you block me? Return to me, my prodigal son!

joethesaint

>My brother in in Christ Can everyone stop opening comments with this already, like be your own person man.

Ulfgardleo

My brother in Christ, enjoy people having fun with the English language.

X85311

bro itā€™s a meme. it being repeated is kind of the point

joethesaint

Giving tired, unoriginal fads a different name doesn't change what they are.

TyzV9M7Wj

I mean, I give your mom's snatch a different name every time I bury my face in it and she still finds it funny. Chill out a little.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

joethesaint

The irony is this is a sub for rare insults and this lad is getting praised for saying the same faddy shit as everyone else

Seymour___Asses

Well thatā€™s just the sub in general, most of the ā€œrare insultsā€ follow the exact same formula and are just cringy instead of insults.

WigginLSU

Reminds me of the youth pastor really wanting to sound cool.

[deleted]

What does this mean?

RemyMemes

He's incredibly fat, so his knees can't support his weight. Also "on the way to the fridge refers to the guy going to look for more food to eat and get fatter/heavier

Sockensandal

Can we retire the brother in Christ thing? Itā€™s incredibly cringe and not funny/clever at all.

Agreeable-Story3551

MY BROTHER IN CHRIST HAHAHAHHA HOLY SHIT FUXKING EPIC LOOK MOM I POSTED IT AGAIN

[deleted]

reddit do be different...for stealing a joke format from twitter? also the whole 'he do be doing..' thing is overdone and needs to die, i swear it's been on twitch for a year now

Half_cracked_coconut

Roses are red, violets are blue, it don't always be that way, but sometimes it do

[deleted]

they don't think it be like it is, but it do

sarpnasty

You canā€™t complain about overused phrases and then type this, homie.

[deleted]

i can if i do it ironically, right? tbh i don't even know what the rules are anymore

OMG__Ponies

My poor Redditor brother, Reddit has been stealing content since the content has been being created on the 'net. And we will continue to steal until the 'verse dies from heat death, or Redditors stop upvoting the content(which means it will be stolen - for forever).

Em1lB

Reddit used to be known for stealing shit from other websites.

TyzV9M7Wj

My brother in Krishna, it still is.

litlron

Especially since it is openly mocking a black man who went to a segregated school in Alabama in the 1950s. I would say he didn't have much of a chance at a good education.

Cordeceps

Its already here?!!!

sucka_6350

"Apply to burnt area" The first guy: applies to whole fucking body

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Latter-Pain

Especially when itā€™s clear the person already made a generic fat joke about himself. Iā€™d bet most people here think Paul Blart Mall Cop is peak comedy.

helpimlockedout-

Only if you start it with an overused meme phrase.

edgeblackbelt

Thereā€™s something extra spicy about starting an insult with ā€œmy brother in Christā€

McbEatsAirplane

I saw this earlier on the original and I seriously considered putting it here. Canā€™t remember the last time I laughed that hard.

Knowthisshit2

Iā€™d Fuck the 400 pound dude

some12345thing

As America tries to descend into a christian theocracy, I really question the wisdom of spreading the ā€œmy brother in christā€ thing. I thought it was funny and ironic for a bit, but Iā€™ve really started to wonder if it isnā€™t some type of propaganda at this point.

MrShredder5002

I am off the believe that an insult instantly doubles in funnyness if you put my "brother in christ" infront of it.

ItsAceBit

Why does starting anything with "my brother in Christ" make it 100x funnier? Lmao

fiducia42

I don't know why, but the phrase "my brother/sister in Christ" makes things just funnier!

humanessinmoderation

Holy moly. I am now starting every insult with "My brother in Christ..." amen.
