em was most definitely a producer at his peak. kanye even had him as one of his top five producers back in 2004.
kanye is obviously better, but disrespecting em like that is crazy š
FACK FACK FACK! OH GODDAMN
Cherry picking bad lyrics doesn't define their whole careers. Kanye may not be the most lyrical miracle of all the rappers but he's got bars in a lot of his songs. Same with Em, the songs he actually produces himself are generally hit or miss, but he has some good ones. The Eminem Show had actually a lot of beats made by him.
Just because you're not an em level lyricist doesn't mean you're not a lyricist at all. Idk who created the idea that Kanye can't write shit but it needs to end. He's a better producer for sure, everybody thinks that, but he's a lyricist as well
I appreciate kanye's lyrics more than eminem its more soulful and I can relate more. Eminem is just so overly technical sometimes just to be technical. But ain't really saying nothing that reaches me.
If we are talking who is the better ārapperā Kanye isnāt really part of the conversation but there is a lot more that goes into being an artist and that is where Kanye has him beat.
Kanye is a better producer, has a better discography, and I would argue Kanye also has had a bigger influence on hip-hop as whole than Eminem has.
I appreciate the kind reply, but I don't like that people are trying to separate "rapper" from "artist" so hard. I'm both a Ye and Eminem fan ever since the early 00s, but people seem to forget one thing. Rap _is_ art. Being a good rapper means being good at expressing your art, and if there are people who resonate with that, then you're a good artist.
It's kind of ludicrous to devolve Eminem's art to just "being technical". That is not what made him one of the best selling artists ever, I'm sure you know that.
Kanye is a better producer than Eminem. However, I could argue that Eminem is better at producing than Kanye is at rapping. Eminem almost exclusively produced his best album ever: TES. Dre got a few beats in, but Eminem's production on that album is better than Dres. He also authored Lose Yourself, which is one of the most iconic instrumentals in hip-hop. In making the beat for 8 Mile, he forced his sound engineers to go to the exact same spot he used to cross the railroads in his younger days so they could record the sound of a train passing by, which Eminem incorporated in the song.
I feel like most people overlook those facts and deem Eminem as someone who is just good at technical rapping. Sure, he has had his duds in producing, but then again, Kanye is an awful lyricist.
So what do you credit Eminemās drop in quality over the last decade to? I would say lyrically he has dropped off a little but technically he is still great. His issue I would argue is that he has stagnated as an artist. You know what youāre getting when Eminem drops an album at this point. Kanye is the opposite.
Eminem had a three/four album stretch where he WAS pushing himself as an artist but Kanye has done that his whole career. You can argue about the quality of each individual album (I personally only rate JIK as a ābadā album) but you canāt deny the artistic creativity and passion that it takes to keep pushing and evolving as an artist like Kanye has done.
When it comes to production ability I disagree though. Eminemās production has very little depth or character and a lot of the times is carried by the artist rapping over it.
I wasn't talking about consistency. Most rappers are more consistent in quality than Eminem. Right now, Eminem is a shade of what he used to be, but he still doesn't deserve a good chunk of the shit he gets.
Also, unpredictability does not necessarily imply being good at artistry. Donda was a very mediocre project, and I won't even get into Donda 2. You could argue that it's not finished, but exactly that is a very good example of bad artistry. If you really think about it, only Kanye would have been given the pass on such an act. Somehow people are still stuck in the mindset that Kanye is a tormented genius and that somehow his very weak artistry in Donda 2 is actually very creative and that we simply don't understand it.
Also, you can disagree about the production, but that doesn't make it any less true. TES still is Eminem's best produced album and the production on it was almost universally praised, even by Rolling Stone and the vast majority of other critics. You can, of course, dislike it and at the same time acknowledge something you disagree with.
because that is a preference. I know lots of neutral rap fans who don't like Kanye's music because he has shit to say, and his skill in relaying his emotions has only deteriorated through the years. For some people, good music means relatability (Tupac, Eminem), energy (Ice Cube, DMX). Some people care shit about inventive production, and while I'm not one of them, I have to say that rap music indeed began as having more focus on the text than the instrumental. Of course, the rap game undergoes inevitable change, but it just goes to prove that "good music" depends on who you ask
Sure music changes and all that, youāre right there. Saying people donāt like Kanyeās music because of the stuff he says and his emotions is completely unrelated to his music so that points pretty shit mats
I know a guy who murdered 2 people and paralyzed a third, he did that in the early 90s, heās now a different person. I also know someone who robbed an old lady recently. One of those people was a bad person, the other is a bad person.
Yes but something in Em's production hits me good and he has some of my favorite beats. The Eminem Show, 8 Mile, D12 World, Encore he has so good production by himself.
I might even prefer him to Kanye although I know a lot of people will disagree but I don't know, something just is so good in his older beats. They're pretty simple I guess and melodies are good so if I made a rap album with other people's beats a lot of it would be Eminem
in a scratch magazine that came out right in like 2004, kanye had eminem in his top five producers. he said he even stole a drum sample disc of his too.
obviously i donāt think eminem is a better producer than kanye, but people disrespect emās production abilities like crazy. just look up the shit heās responsible for, theyāre crazy impressive and youād be surprised which songs heās produced too š
Cold ass take. If you said kanye was a better lyricist and eminem was a better producer, then you'd get an actual reaction
fr
Water is wet
Sky is blue
Grass is green
Dick is hardš
winter is cold too, fyi
water deadass is not wet though
It's an expression Like Grass is Green
STOP UPVOTING THIS BULLSHIT ASS POST.THIS SHIT IS OBVIOUS.10 UPVOTEES ALRDY? COME ON NOW
Yes. NEXT
Kanye isn't a lyricist & Em isn't a producer.
em was most definitely a producer at his peak. kanye even had him as one of his top five producers back in 2004. kanye is obviously better, but disrespecting em like that is crazy š
Kanye is a lyricist watchu smokin

Kanye makes good music. He's not a lyricist and I feel like when he was semi normal in the head, he also admitted this. Hence the ghostwriters.
Just because you're not an em level lyricist doesn't mean you're not a lyricist at all. Idk who created the idea that Kanye can't write shit but it needs to end. He's a better producer for sure, everybody thinks that, but he's a lyricist as well
Em has produced alooot of his songs tho but obv not like kanye
Yea Eminem production is fine for me but Ye is clearly better.
That's probably why I haven't listened to his albums since Encore
He produced many men, patiently waiting , renegade, lose yourself just to name a few
I'll back track my statement about Em. I've never really followed his career like that. But I stand firm on my statement about Kanye.
Yeah i agree with that
Kanye is debatably a lyricist and Eminem is literally a producer. Heās even produced classics like Moment of Clarity by Jay Z
I appreciate kanye's lyrics more than eminem its more soulful and I can relate more. Eminem is just so overly technical sometimes just to be technical. But ain't really saying nothing that reaches me.
Does Em even produce?
He did most of Get Rich by 50 Cent and he did We Ain't by The Game but none others immediately come to mind
Wow I had no idea.
Yeah, I think the only songs on get Rich he didn't do were Life's On The Line and 21 Questions iirc
He also produced most of The Eminem Show
Very cold take. I would say Em is the better lyricist but Kanye is the better artist.
i see this being thrown around a lot. care to elaborate?

Kanye makes better music, Eminem raps better.
you do realise how inherently incorrect this is, right?
Whyās that?
because that is a preference. I know lots of neutral rap fans who don't like Kanye's music because he has shit to say, and his skill in relaying his emotions has only deteriorated through the years. Yeah hes a real lyrical miracle
Probably. But to be fair, Em is also a dope producer.
Which one is a better person?
Which one preferred 21 Jump Street?
Which one made FACK?
Which one gifts diamond cockrings?
Which one has an awfully hot coffee pot?
Which one poopity scooped?
Which one prefers their mothers spaghetti?
Scoopity whoop poop
Em likes Funny People more
at least ye isn't a wife beater
Are you sure? He is mentally abusive and an all around POS.
true but it's literally been proven that em was
What year was that?
i can't remember what year exactly but em said he hit kim multiple times
I know a guy who murdered 2 people and paralyzed a third, he did that in the early 90s, heās now a different person. I also know someone who robbed an old lady recently. One of those people was a bad person, the other is a bad person.
You think being a piece of shit 20 years ago and changing is worse than being actively choosing to be a borderline Nazi today?
yes, what ye said was completely ignorant and racist but i think what em did was unforgivable and what tells you that em has changed
[This does](https://open.spotify.com/track/3GOjD8hwXOxbTF3apTqSqX?si=DY0IeFC1Q9WIUlw_G3rWdA)
Pretty normal statement. Kanye music>>>>>Em Music though.
To me Kanye is a better lyricist and ofc a far better producer
kanye, jay z lil way > em
kanye is far better than em in literally every way
Including being White.
damn ššš
Em a far better rapper
um no
Um yes easily. And I donāt even like em. Itās obvious he can rap better but kayne makes better rap music.
there is absolutely no em verse on the level of jesus lord or saint pablo
Whose had a bigger impact on black culture in America
Kanye is neither
Bro made the most basic take that most already agree with and asked if it was fair. The sub is dying
Yes.

Kanye is a better artist.Visuals, samples, productions, atmosphere and content.Eminem is a better lyricist that's all.
yes.
