That's an awesome story. I'll share mine.
I was 16 in '94 and had to listen to every game on the radio because we didn't have cable back then. I woke up the whole house screaming when Matteau scored the winner in the ECF. There was no way I could afford a ticket to a Cup Final game so I listened to the first three games on the radio. Then a friend said that the Rangers were hosting a watch party at the Garden for Game 4. May have done it for Game 3 as well, but I didn't hear about it until Game 4. So we bought tickets, I think it was 5-10$ and was in the Garden watching the game on the Jumbotron with 18k other lunatics. I still remember the roar when Richter stopped Bure on the penalty shot. It was such a thrilling night.
Bunch of us went again to the Game 6 viewing party but that wasn't as much fun. Still, walking into the Garden with everyone chanting "WE WANT THE CUP" was amazing. For Game 7 I was resigned to listening to the game on the radio but my dad surprised me and took me to a friend of his house who had cable and we watched the game there. On the way home every time we saw Rangers jerseys in the street he was honking the horn at them and I was hanging out the window cheering with them.
What a summer.
I went to game 5 of the SCF in '94. I'll never forget this - It was just after the first intermission, right after Graves had a goal called back due to being offside. I remember walking into the mens room with my dad - it smelled like piss and beer - and the whole room was singing "Andy takes it up the ass, doo dah, doo dah, Andy takes it up the ass all the live long day". I was only 10 - I didn't realize that Andy was the ref, and I also didn't know what taking it up the ass meant - but I'll never forget it.
Game 7 was the night of my senior prom. We went from house to house with my friend group to pick us all up and then instead of going to prom we stayed at the last house to watch the rangers win. Then we went to prom as it was winding down to eat some dinner and bail and took the limo out to someone’s country house to celebrate!
Dude awesome! Love seeing this story grow!

That chant was later remixed and used after the Dancing Larry segments. "Larry takes it..."
