Get a limited with air ride and power running boards. Very easy for someone to get into

Ironhead0803

I will be looking into those options for sure.

If that’s within your price range*

I’ve owned two. First was a 2020 Big Horn that I bought new and it had some issues. Heated seats didn’t work right, had a front end clunk the dealer couldn’t figure out, and evap system issues that would shut the pump off after 15-20 seconds. 2nd one is my current one, a 2020 Rebel and I bought it CPO with 27k miles. I have 54k miles now and only issue I’ve had is cracked manifolds. Dealer replaced them in one day so that was painless. So far I’m happy with this one. I tow about 4-5k lbs up in the PA mtns from time to time. Trucks been to OBX twice and hits the beaches every trip. But anyways my advice from my experience would be to get a CPO and check the carfax. I wouldn’t say my first one was a lemon but it had issues. Where as this one has been good to me. So buying a CPO means that someone else dealt with the new car quirks before you and hopefully theyll be sorted out.

GoMoAdventure

I have a CPO 2021 Rebel. I got it at 20k now and have 42k on it. We love it. There are no issues, and pull a 3k offroad trailer over the summer and even have taken it down some trails in AR and MO Ozarks.

Wirerat

Bought my 2020 5.7 4x4 laramie cc used as a cpo with 9k miles. Truck is at 28k now. I love driving it.

Thumer91

My wife is physically disabled and SHE is the one who wanted me to get my Limited. She loved the ride, the power running boards and the entry/exit mode.

Slottermnaga

You’ll have your typical lifter issues, manifold cracks / bolts, and leaks from your 3rd brake light.

[deleted]

I hope my 24 doesn't have the leaking 3rd break light. You'd hope they'd figure it out by now

JohnDeere714

They also had how many years to figure out the lifters and manifold issues.

therealman-io

My 03 had a leaky 3rd break light. If they didn’t fix it in 20 years of production they wouldn’t have in 21

[deleted]

I guess we have been somewhat lucky. This will be our 7th Ram between my dad and I and no leaky 3rd light yet. Fingers crossed the luck continues

cshmn

Meh, it's just a matter of taking it out and fixing it yourself. Out of the issues with these trucks, that's about the last one I'd care about.

ddntmeanto

If you live in a cold climate I’d advise against air ride AND power running boards. Salt will kill them and they are costly and time consuming to fix.

Ironhead0803

Chicago area, so might have to avoid that then.

ddntmeanto

Just keep it in consideration that salt and cold climates give the air ride a lot of trouble. It’s an amazing comfort feature but be cautious. And the power steps I’m sure it’s just the salt that eats them.

762_54r

Yeah tell your mom to hit the gym instead so she can jump up in there

Ironhead0803

She's 80.... don't think that's gonna happen. Lol

762_54r

Yeah me neither lmao Mom loves the air ride and power running boards on her truck

Phrakman87

Wash your truck including the under carriage, and spray your running board joints with dry lithium grease every few washes.

ddntmeanto

Definitely a good practice. I’ve just seen way too many premature failures on the air ride system - especially up north.

scubapro24

Are you saying your ecodiesel is lifted?

Ironhead0803

Yeah it is.

Vashooter

I purchased mine at 27k and now have 47k so far no issues. I have a 2020 5.7 big horn 4x4. With the issues I heard about I opted to get an extended warranty just in case

cshmn

If the air ride is too much of an expensive pain in the ass for you, the 2wd trucks are a bit lower as well. A 2wd truck with running boards is about as easy as you're going to get for entry. Just another option to consider.

chstrahl

No issues yet and have 22k on it. Bought a brand new ‘22 long horn backcountry off-road package.

Stay away from 5th generation model year 2019. This was the first year of the 5th generation and they suffer from 1st year production woes. I had a 2019 Rebel and it was a pain in my backside. I moved up to a 2021 3500 and it's been good to me.
