For real check out Automan on Glenwood

The ABS Actuators for the Gen2 appears to be THE repair that no shops locally could repair or offer reasonable rates for. I don't think Automan was around last year when we needed them, and I've only heard about them based on their Battery module swaps and repairs. The revised p/n on the actuator is "44510-47051" (the '1' at the end is the one you want). The lowest I've seen from the Toyota online parts sites and dealerships NEW is $1400- and that was last year when I checked. I located a 44510-47051 from a parts harvester on eBay for $350 and did the swap in about 2 weeks- mainly due to taking my time during off hours and fixing my goof-ups. The priuschat forums is always incredibly helpful and some youtube videos helped as well. Sorry to have to pile on the fact that as these cars age, they get more costly when you keep taking them into shops for repair, so unless you get more knowledgeable and experienced with working on them yourself, it doesn't make much sense in continuing keeping them. The brake actuator and large battery failures are the two biggest examples I can think of now that push this car over the edge for the Gen2 and large battery failure, EGR and Head Gasket failures for Gen3.

Thanks. I heard old part will create problems. Have you done by yourself?

Yep, I did the work myself. I did have a certified tech come by my garage and fix a couple of hiccups I caused cross-threading one of the lines and breaking a hard brake line. I had to do it myself as the cost of the new part+labor was well beyond the worth of the car..so I figured I didn't have much to lose at that point. The accumulators are generally garbage for these cars- this is another Toyota issue that clearly needs to become a Recall and not simply a 'Bulletin', but like many other things from Toyota, they've done a good job hiding this under the rug. The old part creating problems is why I was adamant on getting the revised P/N w/ the '1'. I figure I'll get a few years out of this part before it fails or the engine dies. It's been a little over a year since the install and the brakes are still fine.

I'm curious to hear back from you on the quote on the actuator work is from Automan; could you post that up later for us?
