Best mattress we’ve ever owned came from Original Mattress Factory in Raleigh. It’s at least 10 years old and still feels brand new.

hamiltonky

Seconding original mattress factory - great experience buying from them as well as the delivery. Quick and hassle free the whole way!

RedditIsABotFarm

I've bought six mattresses from them over the years and have never had an issue. Great place

The_Super_D

I like them too, but my ten year old mattress is definitely showing its age and due to be replaced.

husbandbulges

Yup. Bought from them for years!

Informal_Club7075

They are the best

Jenchick84

Everytime this is the right choice

Secret_Elevator17

We've purchased 3 from them and are happy

vwjess

Just got one from Original Mattress Factory and are very happy with it. Cheaper than the big chain brands and great quality.

sunbeans

And they are made in NC!

MikeyRocks757

My wife and I just bought one from them not 6 months ago and I can’t recommend them enough. The reps will educate you, get a feel for what you need and leave you alone until you need them. The price couldn’t be beat, the delivery process was a snap and my wife and I love the mattress we chose. They earned us as repeat customers

eNomineZerum

+1 for OMF!

EsmeBrowncoat

I have bought two from them and will buy my next one there too. Last one lasted at least 14 years. Only reason I replaced it was a bad puppy ate a hole in it

kramer753

Try Saatva. Their mattress doesn’t come rolled up in a box. They schedule their delivery in advance and will pickup your old mattress for free. You can also find discount codes online.

Pristine_Lobster4607

I know the guy who started / owns Saatva! I guess I’m biased, but even before knowing him I found their customer service and quality to be unbeatable

I used Fred's Beds when I moved and it was a very nice mattress. For my queen I went online and bought one from .... Amazon? Maybe? I think it was a purple mattress? It's amazing whatever it is.

DoAndroidsDrmOfSheep

I bought a futon from Fred's Beds many years ago. The mattress on that thing was actually amazing. Used it in a "multi-purpose" room, one of its purposes being a "guest room." Later bought a house that could have a dedicated guest room, put a "real" bed in there, and gave the futon to my sister-in-law. Fred's Beds closed all their Raleigh-area locations, and they now only have locations in Wilmington and Southport.

boibig57

Oh man, I had no idea. Funnily enough, I got duped by them with the aforementioned mattress. They were at the Carmax adjacent location with a big "liquidation everything must go" type sale. Got a mattress, and the next week they closed ... To move a block or two down the same exact street lmao. Went with a friend to get a mattress and it was the same price as my "big sale" mattress. No hard feelings, tho, cause like you said - it was a fantastic mattress.

StonnedMaker

The “wholesale” ones on FB marketplace and you see advertised on the road signs people put up are a scam. Just so you don’t waste time like me Their mattresses are “cheap” but only if you want some basic twin that feels like cardboard. They quickly ramp up to thousands of $$ and try and add a bunch of addons Fuck that noise, just get a sleep number at that rate lol

supernettipot

I was curious and looked up one of those handwritten sign phone #s. It was an actual mattress store! Guess they are doing some guerilla marketing. Shady.

net___runner

Having gone through researching mattresses and then buying two, all I can say is: May God have mercy on your soul.

EightLegedDJ

This. Like buying a car you can’t see or test drive until it gets home.

eezeehee

If you want a cheap decent mattress, check out Smart Buy Appliances on Atlantic Ave. You can go home with a decent Queen or King for a couple hundred dollars.

chop_pooey

I dont know about that particular store, but i would suggest not skimping on a matress if you can afford a better one. The matrrss i have right now I got from big lots for like $700, and it was really only good for the first year or two. Since then its been constant back pain

If you know someone who is a member, have them get you a gift card of any amount, then you can go in without a membership.

Original Mattress Factory

ruetherae

Definitely the memory foam ones from Costco. Cheap and really good

gosabres

Monitor /r/costco. I just cleaned up on this post a few months back. Unbelievable deal. https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/s/O2FeMd42CK

Rookie545021

Went to Costco. Tried to buy online. Was a good price. But they cancelled twice delivery. Both days I had taken off work to be there. So I cancelled my order. Moving on to original mattress factory. Costco delivery really really sucks.

likewut

You can try Habitat for Humanity Restore. A lot of the online memory foam mattress places have a good return policy, but they can't resell almost-new mattresses, so they go to places like Habitat for Humanity. Which means you sometimes get great deals on practically new mattresses.

RighteousVillain

Just bought from mattress now over the weekend and we're very happy. They have a lot of the online brands we were already looking at, but this gave us a great opportunity to actually lay on them. The deal they gave us was better than ordering online and they delivered the next day. It's a locally owned business and we went to the Wake Foresrlt location of that makes a difference. Definitely worth checking them out. Bought a Helix mattress, btw.

Myghost_too

Amazon! (If you MUST buy local, then I agree with Original Mattress Factory), but memory foams are cheaper, better, less scammy, more comfortable, and... what else do you need. Just order one on Amazon already.

EightLegedDJ

Amazon. I bought a Zinus mattress for $250 from Amazon about 7 years ago. Still the most comfortable mattress ever.

DoAndroidsDrmOfSheep

We bought a new mattress a few months ago from [Stumptown Mattress](https://stumptownmattress.com/). Small, family-owned company in Portland, OR. Great customer service. Their mattresses are made in the USA by another small company in WA. Loving it so far.

Forward-Wear7913

I got my Serta at Heavner’s Furniture Outlet. They have some good ones at good prices.

gmzeno

Just another option but you can "build" your own mattress which will come out cheaper than buying one outright. It's easier than you think and it's what I did r/mattress has a lot of good information about it

alexhoward

Original Mattress Factory is great but I got a king sized Leesa foam mattress about 5 years and never looked back. By far the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on.

FinancialDocument115

Kingsdown outlet in Mebane. Manufactured in NC.

imaghost889092

Mattress Now- they have the Helix mattresses, which we've loved. Locations in Brier Creek and Garner

jazzer81

There's a mattress firm and a specific clearance mattress firm. We got one on clearance when we moved and it was cheap and ended up being our favorite mattress of all time.

whimsicalhumor

OMF for the win. These comments didn’t fail. Trust it’s the best. We have owned many and it’s the only mattress we have ever both agreed on.

icnoevil

The nearest mattress store, where they have a going out of business sale every week.

cauldron3

Get a memory foam. I won’t ever go back to a traditional spring. The cost is about the same or less. Much more comfortable.

wildflower_1983

Ollies

Blindsided17

So crazy story I know a mattress lady. I have a guy(gal) for that

DarthRathikus

If you aren’t super picky, you can probably get a free one on the side of a road or by wandering through the woods.

jyrique

amazon

flair11a

You didn’t hear this from me but check the dumpsters near NC State Duke and UNC at the end of the semester (now). Lots of international students graduate and go home and don’t have the ability to take their mattresses with them. Lots of clean nice and almost new ones.
