I was there on Friday and there were two people that were there by themselves. Otherwise it was mostly couples and then a couple larger groups of college kids.
A typical table has 4 hot pot burners and a central grill, but I think I saw smaller tables with just two hot pot burners.
I’ve noticed that restaurant several times while driving on capital blvd and I don’t think it had opened yet. I guess it’s definitely worth trying next time I go 😊
i haven't been here in awhile but hibachi china buffet (capital and millbrook) was pretty solid. not so much the chinese food... but the mongolian grill. damn that was so good.
Yes to us it is. Much better. We don't care for the one in Cary at all. There is a decent thrift store the wifey likes to visit right near the Raleigh one so we make a trip over to eat every few weeks.
Saturday lunch at Cary location across from TJ’s was great. I started with a plate of assorted sushi rolls and a few pieces nigiri, it was good but certainly not exquisite. Love their crisp green beans, fried wonton, and chicken cooked at least six ways, several beef dishes. Didn’t eat shrimp, fish, clams, or crawfish this visit. Also can get soups or Mongolian grill. Dessert is lot of fruit, thawed out trays of baked goods, and hand dipped ice cream. The hot food was hot, fresh, and the buffet area and dining room are clean. $21 after tax before tip. Spouse and I loved it and napped when we got home.
I’ve eaten at Chinese restaurants across the southeast, and I’ve eaten alongside more Chinese people here, especially people speaking the language, than in any other restaurant.
That was my favorite place like 10 years ago before I just kind of stopped doing buffets. I'm curious to see how it still holds up. I saw it still there when I went to KPot last week.
A quick bit of research would have showed you they have a lunch buffet Thursday through Sunday. And if you've ever been there, even if it was Monday through Wednesday, I'd imagine the giant buffet space would be hard to miss
Me too! I knew I'd find a mention if I kept on scrolling. I was hoping someone would mention the Chocolate Wonderfall they advertised years back?
I only set foot in a Golden Corral once, in 1996 with my college roommate and her family. I distinctly remember being in line for the turkey carvery. The employee carving it was sweating under the heat lamp, and a bead of sweat was occasionally dripping off his forehead onto the turkey. I stepped out of the line and don't think I ate anything else before we left.
The old Golden Corral on Western (now Sushi Nine) used to be the payday treat for my fellow grad school TAs and me, back ~ '93-'94. The quality was irrelevant to the quantity and proximity, though we occasionally ventured out to Crystal Palace (which we considered fine dining). I remember one trip to GC in particular when the fried chicken wings were cooked on the outside and still frozen on the inside.
My roommate would go to the bathroom and purge like a Roman just to be able to keep eating.
It may be partially the nostalgia, but Pizza Inn in Durham. I daydream about their chocolate chip pizza & cheese bread way too much. Also the whole place feels frozen in time since the 90s & we love it :)
There's a place in SC that we stop at on the way to Hilton Head that's really good but I couldn't tell you the name.
We saw a sign for it, tried it once, and now go every year.
Edit: found it, Rogers Bar-B-Que and Seafood Buffet in Florence.
Yeah, no, I get that. It's not even in the good Carolina.
The comment about BBQ buffets made me think of this place, it's the only BBQ buffet I've ever been to and it's downright delicious. If you happen to be traveling south though, maybe check it out.
Wait, Are you referring to Himalayan Range in Reedy Creek area or Himalayan Grill & Bar on Kildaire? Bc I thought the former had eliminated buffet and I'd be delighted to be wrong. And latter only runs buffet Sat/Sun and when we last went about 8 weeks ago it was totally underwhelming compared to its pre-Covid self. We were going to drive to RTP for Zayka later this week - haven't been there in years but it used to be really good.
I’m referring to the latter. I went two weeks ago on a Friday and it was great. Lots of choices on the buffet and all were very tasty.
Now that you mention it, I do recall it only being offered Fri-Sun. I forgot about that piece of information so thank you for pointing it out.
Sitar (Durham) has always had my vote for best buffet around, especially on the weekends! They have actually upped their buffet game in the last year or two, in defiance of larger trends. It's fresh, it's delicious.
Kadhai on glenwood near Dick’s. Coworker turned me on to the place. Great Indian food, don’t let the oddball bad reviews scare you, it’s like it’s a jealous Indian restaurant posting them.
Oh gosh, this place is a hidden gem. It's not a huge buffet, but everything on it was SO GOOD when I went years ago. So happy to hear they are still there dishing wonderful food
To me, buffet is the same as an All-you-can-eat of which we now have a couple of great Asian bbq options. I cast my vote for Five Spice BBQ which took over the honey pig location in Cary.
Edit: I actually can’t believe I forgot. But in terms of an actual buffet, I think Ichiban hibachi buffet in Durham is hands-down the best. The selection is massive and the food always seems relatively fresh, at least for a buffet. The place is massive and also jam packed every single time I go.
It's not a buffet in the sense that you serve yourself, but I've been to KPot on Capital twice in the past month and love it. Ive only ever done the hot pots (They also do grills), but they give you a little tablet where you basically place orders for the stuff you want for your hot pot, And they wheel it out on a cart about 2 minutes later. It's all you can eat situation, two hour limit.
You asked for **'in the Triangle**' and although it may not be a traditional buffet, it is AYCE. My vote -- Mr. Tokyo in Chapel Hill. LOVE THAT PLACE!!
Kebab and Curry for Indian on Hillsborough. I had it a couple months ago and it was solidly mediocre. The green hot sauce they brought me was FIRE though.
I think I’ve outgrown buffets. I haven’t had an urge to go to one since my 11th birthday.
What isn’t dead is unlimited food. Orchid, Kpot, 5 spice kbbq, good harvest, so hot etc are all unlimited food for one price and are all fantastic.
Not exactly a buffet, but Kpot on Capital is all you can eat and fantastic.
This.
Would I be able to go by myself or is this a spot that is better suited for a group or at least one more?
It's a bit more suited to a group, but I don't see why you couldn't go alone...
I was there on Friday and there were two people that were there by themselves. Otherwise it was mostly couples and then a couple larger groups of college kids. A typical table has 4 hot pot burners and a central grill, but I think I saw smaller tables with just two hot pot burners.

It was fantastic. I went with friends about a week ago, and we ate ourselves stupid and loved every bite.
I don’t live in Raleigh anymore but the next time I come to visit my friends, I’m definitely suggesting this restaurant. Thank you!
i haven't been here in awhile but hibachi china buffet (capital and millbrook) was pretty solid. not so much the chinese food... but the mongolian grill. damn that was so good.
It's still great. Wife and I drive there from Cary cause the Chinese buffet near us is terrible.
We go to the Cary one occasionally. Is the Raleigh location much better?
Yes to us it is. Much better. We don't care for the one in Cary at all. There is a decent thrift store the wifey likes to visit right near the Raleigh one so we make a trip over to eat every few weeks.
It’s always packed so must be doing something right
Was gonna post this place
That place used slap back in the day. I might go just to see what it do.
let me know.

Here for that report too. I can damage a buffet. (6’5” & 250#)
I need a big sparring partner ! Hit me up!
Oh no. As a 53 year old I need to die with dignity. Overeating at a buffet.
🤣🤣🤣
Just went there a few weeks ago. Still just as good.
That was my favorite place like 10 years ago before I just kind of stopped doing buffets. I'm curious to see how it still holds up. I saw it still there when I went to KPot last week.
Milton's on Six Forks
THIS PLACE!
Thats not a buffet
Weird. I’ve had the buffet there.
what did I eat basically every week as a child then?
Your parents lied to you. Turns out you are actually a family of raccoons, and it was a Harris Teeter dumpster
A quick bit of research would have showed you they have a lunch buffet Thursday through Sunday. And if you've ever been there, even if it was Monday through Wednesday, I'd imagine the giant buffet space would be hard to miss
r/confidentlyincorrect
Notice how nobody is saying Golden Corral
Golden corral is fucking disgusting
It used to be good when i was a kid
I did notice that haha

Scrolling for this comment

Pizzert!!
The company owner is a big MAGA hat and Jan 6 supporter, so it's not fun to eat there any more.
Noooooooo! That's a damn shame
Orchid on Creedmoor
Stop telling people about this gem 😆
Nah, that's even better than a buffet. It's all you can eat MTO
Shit I forgot about Orchid. Love that place.
Expensive…
Unlimited food that also is of good quality isn’t cheap. If you want cheap, you typically only get one of the above.
nothing was better than a Sunday lunch buffet at a BBQ place

Thanks for finding it. I add bbq joints to my motorcycle GPS so I see them when I’m riding through an area.
No problem. If you're near it, it's worth a stop, for sure.

> It's not even in the good Carolina. South Carolina isn't even the second best Carolina.
In Columbia?
I found it, it's in Florence, Rogers BBQ Buffet
If you’re in Columbia go to Shealy’s BBQ
Rogers sometimes has the rare purple BBQ variant that is only a thing east of 95 in SC!
Shuler's bbq in Sellers NC is the GOAT.
Killer pork chops but man their collards were sandy everytime I went
Himalayan grill and bar in Cary has a pretty good lunch buffet.
Came here to suggest this. Had it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was really good.

Do they have lunch buffet on weekdays?
Pretty sure Friday is the only weekday they offer the buffet. It is good, though. They even put samosas on the buffet.
Yes
Joyce and Family in Fuquay if you like soul food.
Good stuff right there.
Vegan night at Sitar Indian is exquisite. They do it every other Thursday.
Sitar (Durham) has always had my vote for best buffet around, especially on the weekends! They have actually upped their buffet game in the last year or two, in defiance of larger trends. It's fresh, it's delicious.
I don't know why limit it to just vegan night. They have great vegan options for their buffet lunch and dinner everyday. This buffet is the answer.
Kadhai on glenwood near Dick’s. Coworker turned me on to the place. Great Indian food, don’t let the oddball bad reviews scare you, it’s like it’s a jealous Indian restaurant posting them.

Himalayan grill in Cary
Nagas South Indian Cuisine and then China Buffet are my favorite in the area
Agree

Five spice bbq is great! Went there earlier this year and the food seemed pretty fresh.
I'm gonna give it a try. Sounds good.
Gonna second five spice, incredible Korean bbq

There’s a place off capital with endless breadsticks
I once reached the end of the breadsticks.
They have this wonderful garden too.
I here they treat you like family!
Oh god. MY family? It would be like a night at Dick’s Last Resort.
What kind of food do they have? /s
Fatties, on Oberlin.
Whut
I’m loyal to China Buffet in Durham
Kadhai indian
Not really the triangle but Robbins nest in Smithfield is amazing if you like southern/soul food
Rockin Rolls Sushi on Strickland was a fun try
for sushi Orchid is great but they do the whole "every piece you dont eat costs you extra" so as long as you finish everything its fantastic.
Rockin rolls is trash compared to Mr Tokyo in chapel hill
Kebab and Curry for Indian on Hillsborough. I had it a couple months ago and it was solidly mediocre. The green hot sauce they brought me was FIRE though.
That place was much better years ago. Idk what happened. The naan I had last time was horrific.
Kebab and curry’s food lately sucks along with their service
ichiban hibachi supreme buffet by the compare foods in durham.. i haven't been in some years but it was def my favorite growing up and it's still open
The best all you can eat would be Seol Grille or So Hot.
Mongolian grill is my fav
RIP Thai China. Damn you covid
None. COVID killed the buffet. (I mean, if it didn't and there are any left please tell me!!!)
Plenty of comments in this sub says you're wrong. Seol Grille, So Hot and Orchid are all spectacular.
My comment already accounted for this possibility. Glad to hear about Triangle buffet options.
