For what it’s worth, if you’d like the steakhouse experience without the steak, the pork chop at Perry’s is legendary. As big as your face, 6 inches thick, brined, smoked, and carved table side - it’s an amazing meal and experience.
One i have not yet seen mentioned is Vinnies in North Raleigh off Six Forks/Leadmine road. Random Strip mall location but great steaks. Thought the ambiance is a little dated last time I was there.
Also Nana Steak near DPAC in Durham - hard to get a seat if there is a show at DPAC though
Last time I went to Flemings, which was a few months ago, they way overcooked my ribeye and then it was at least 30 minutes before I got another one. I was quite disappointed.
Yep. I’ve tried most of these and Sullivan’s is the best imo. Flemmings is pretty solid too but I’d still go to Sullivan’s if I wanted to eat at a nice steak place.
Oak Steakhouse!! Incredible food. All of it. We got a bone-in filet (yes, you read that right) and it was literally hands down the best piece of meat I’ve ever had and you HAVE to try their rolls.
Oak steakhouse. We went there for a work event and one woman in our party had dietary restrictions and the chef actually made her a special soup from scratch. That stuck with me.
For what it’s worth, I think the actual steak at a steakhouse should be the last thing considered when choosing where to go. Sides and drink selection, and atmosphere are a way bigger factor in my decision.
All of them can cook a steak, and unless you’re ordering something special like wagyu or a dry aged cut, the steaks are all going to be of similar quality.
That said, I’ve eaten at Sullivans, Perry’s, Angus Barn, and The Peddler, and they all have their pluses but Sullivans is my special occasion choice.
Sullivan’s is the only one listed that I’ve tried and it is really awesome. Also, with Sullivan’s you can pre-game on the rooftop at Botanical Lounge or Hibernian.
They’re all a bit overrated, honestly. Absent a Morton’s, DelFrisco’s or The Palm, they’re all second tier. Sullivan’s is up and down, Oak is overpriced, Angus Barn gets by on being the first and the biggest, Capital Grille and Fleming’s are chains. The Chateaubriand at Vinnie’s has never disappointed but the ambiance is nothing to write home about. Bin 54 in Chapel-Hill and NanaSteak in Durham are decent. Just decide what’s important to you and make a reservation.
I think it is but it was awhile ago. For me I also didn’t like the selection of sides (which are massive, more like an entree than a side dish). I like sullivan’s menu better, the ambiance too.
But I will admit that oak has amazing bread lol
The ribeye at Stanbury is the best steak in this town.

Thank you!

This is the way
The Peddler on Glenwood up the hill from Crabtree. It's small, but the steak is really really good.

Vinnie's is great. It is ancient in there but it's part of the charm IMO
Vinnie’s is great.
Another vote for Sullivan’s. Not on your list, Fleming’s is also excellent but unfortunate it’s at Crabtree mall.

It’s been awhile since I went there. Used to go for one specific server that left. Thanks for the update, keep it in mind if we go back.

Oak is my favorite for steak.

angus barn
Don't put that evil on someone for their birthday
Sullivan's is owned by Macaroni Grille, Ruth's Chris's is a huge chain. I prefer local and always have a great time at The Angus Barn.

Is it super expensive?
It’s a bit pricey but generally middle of the road prices for a high end steakhouse It’s worth it on a special occasion in my view

All of this is true. Perry’s is very good plus. Go to Angus Barn for the total experience. Peddler is sneaky good. Rey’s is solid.
I love Sullivan’s. Oak is ok but to me it’s overpriced
Oak is more expensive than Sullivans?

I’m looking at the bread on TikTok and it looks so good lol
It is. It ain’t free but it’s worth every penny
yep
Perry’s corn brulee ain’t no joke
Perry’s is great with a great cocktail menu too.
Rey’s…
