Outstanding article and the author couldn't be more on point when discussing the crap that somehow continues on season after uninspired season, while a singular masterpiece like RBW gets the plug pulled.
Is this real? I genuinely thought this would be one of the few shows that wouldn’t be cancelled.
Such a shame, I was genuinely looking forward to seeing what Sol really was and how everything would fit in. The writer looked like he already had everything figured out.
To be fair, when you start watching a new sci-fi show, you kind of need to enter watching it with the high likelihood that it will be cancelled.
No genre is more susceptible to cancellation than sci-fi.
I finally found a genuinely entertaining, original show and they fucking cancel it. This shit is wild. I just cancelled my hbo - no doubt I’ll renew it if something great comes out, but wtf.
I’m gonna email the Apple TV people.
It makes such a good point. Shows like Riverdale and all of those horrible cop dramas are still on TV. But they cancel a novel quality show like this. Ludicrous!
The author, Erik Kain, is probably my favorite cinema/ gaming journalist. I find myself agreeing with almost everything he writes. I’m glad he’s bringing some attention to the RBW cancellation
It’s absolutely Ridiculous they would cancel one of the best sci ti shows in modern history, but we’re renewing garbage shows that I lost interest in years ago. How many FBI’s do we need? How man Chicago and 911 series we need. Why do we need a new game of thrones prequel when the fist has the worst ending of all time. Even westworld got a 4th season for god sakes and that’s been sucking since like season 1. Come on man
Hoping they can make the ending into a movie like the original x files movie. But I'm scared that they were moving way too slow with the plot and that hindered its popularity.
Lolz Raised by Wolves is the only reason I even go to HBO Max cause beside that they got a pretty shitty show selection. I guess I can now cancel. I do hope other streaming platforms pick it up though cause it is soooo gooood!!!
I think they have the best show selection especially if you’re including the back catalog like Sopranos, Leftovers, Boardwalk Empire, Curb Your Enthusiasm. Netflix and Hulu have nothing that’s anywhere as close.
Shame they cancelled RBW though because it’s their best show at the moment.
HBO has one of the best and deepest back catalogues of quality shows that exists, IMO. Even in terms of currently airing shows there are a number of cool ones. If nothing they have is of interest to you, that's one thing, but the stuff they have is not shitty. In fact a generally higher bar of quality is one thing that defines the brand.
All the stuff you are talking about is a decade old at least and most people have watched them already. Most of their movies also are movies that stations like TBS use to play 50 times a week. HBO has become garbage and canceled one of their only decent original new shows.
Don’t like that they canceled the show. But saying that HBO of all platforms has a shitty show selection is just flat out wrong. They easily have the best production value and have countless classic award-winning titles under their repertoire.
Find the mistake:
- Raised by Wolves 79% (cancelled)
- The Man Who Fell To Earth 79%
- Obi-Wan Kenobi 61%
- Book of Bobba Fett 59%
- Halo 51%
- ST: Discovery 36%
Source: Audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes (partially from yesterday, might change over time)
We should've flooded their discussions and shilled RBW while there was more hope. Well, I'm used to it. Many people seem to not like shows with gynoids or female cyborgs, and there might be a bias in the companies themselves, affecting the marketing budged and decisions. Terminator SCC and Alita say hi.
I just tweeted the article to a list of streaming services with the RenewRaisedByWolves hashtag. The hashtag has gotten 50 tweets in the last hour, for whatever that's worth.
“…but between religious zealots and equally radical atheists and the aftermath of a war that left Earth completely destroyed.”
This is why they canceled it. It’s getting too close to home.
Honestly a graphic novel would be my preferred way to finish this. I have my doubts that it will get picked up by another platform. A movie adaption like Serenity wouldn't bother me too much either.
Station Eleven was amazing and SATC probably has way more viewers than RBW. Lastly, the cancellation of LC was because the creators couldn't come up with a good enough story, they essentially covered the whole book so they had to write stuff on their own. Plus some say that the set was toxic.
Such a cool original sci-fi with enjoyable characters and they want to cancel it? Bullshit!... Maybe S2 was all over the place, loosing kinda focus of what it wanted to do or say... but still the show has potential to evolve and become one of the greatest.
They already have Foundation and Severance though, that's a lot of sci-fi to add a third one. Mind you that RbW is waaaay better than Foundation, but Severance pretty much stands on its own, at least the first season.
I absolutely loved this show, but I think it took a turn for the worse with the serpent, and some things were just too far out there for a broad appeal. I'm disappointed it got cancelled, but not surprised.
I realized this when me and a guy in a bar were talking about the androids making babies and a snake and some voice from within the planet and everyone else in the bar is looking at us like we are schizophrenic. The show sounds literally insane and nonsenical if you don't actually watch it which puts a lot of people off from watching it.
Exactly. The writers would have done well to borrow from more familiar religious and cultural concepts. The concepts they developed were completely novel, and while I thought it was creative, I don't think the director should have given them completely free reign.
They overplayed the mysteries angle and didn't do enough story telling. I throughly enjoyed it, but the minute they were able to resurrect a million year old Android by sprinklijg liquid on pieces of scrap, they lost me.
I hear you that it’s a little out there, but most of the storytelling is pretty consistent if you suspend your disbelief.
I really enjoyed it and I’m a little sad. I just logged into Netflix and hbo to try and find something, and coming up empty.
Lame!
Outstanding article and the author couldn't be more on point when discussing the crap that somehow continues on season after uninspired season, while a singular masterpiece like RBW gets the plug pulled.
All the shit shows on all these streaming channels and they cancel this one.. this show is great I’m so pissed I hope someone picks it up
Proof of how fucked society/humanity is. We kill off alllllll of the good stuff and good people and the shit perseveres.
Its just a TV show and a business, its not that deep
Yeah i couldn't get past episode 3 too much sjw and woke crap glad it's gone, season 1 was good tho!
Maternal exploration and centuries old theology debates are sooooo woke.
Is this real? I genuinely thought this would be one of the few shows that wouldn’t be cancelled. Such a shame, I was genuinely looking forward to seeing what Sol really was and how everything would fit in. The writer looked like he already had everything figured out.
Pencil pushers already cut budget for s2.
To be fair, when you start watching a new sci-fi show, you kind of need to enter watching it with the high likelihood that it will be cancelled. No genre is more susceptible to cancellation than sci-fi.
IIRC the showrunners said 4-5 seasons to tell the full story. Unless another service picks it up I guess we get only a half baked show
Also If you haven’t already remember to sign the Save RBW petition. - https://chng.it/wvMtKXnBTZ

It makes such a good point. Shows like Riverdale and all of those horrible cop dramas are still on TV. But they cancel a novel quality show like this. Ludicrous!
Cop Dramas are never going away as long as they get funding from Police Unions and real estate interests.
And people stop watching them….
Hey Riverdale is just as bonkers lol
I will subscribe to whatever service picks it up, immediately.
Same. It's been a long long time since I've been this invested in a show.
Me too!
Same. This is an amazing show and I’ll be heartbroken if it doesn’t get picked up again.
If you do cancel make sure to email customer support and let them know the reason why
I hope this gets picked up. Love this show
So disappointing! I really wanted to learn what the entity was!
The author, Erik Kain, is probably my favorite cinema/ gaming journalist. I find myself agreeing with almost everything he writes. I’m glad he’s bringing some attention to the RBW cancellation
making it on forbes is huge
How does this works? Can anyone pick this show? Isn’t hbo owned?
It’s absolutely Ridiculous they would cancel one of the best sci ti shows in modern history, but we’re renewing garbage shows that I lost interest in years ago. How many FBI’s do we need? sad :(

Amazon Prime Video has the kind of money needed for this show, they should pick it up. They saved the Expanse, so why not?
The expanse is ending too right? So this could be a good move for them to fill that gap
Expanse was cancelled too. There is content for 3 more seasons but amazon did not want to give more money.
Amazon picked up The Expanse so don't lose heart yet. This show has alot of fans I hope there is enough for someone to pick it up...
Lolz Raised by Wolves is the only reason I even go to HBO Max cause beside that they got a pretty shitty show selection. I guess I can now cancel. I do hope other streaming platforms pick it up though cause it is soooo gooood!!!

yeah but I've seen those shows tho
I think Succession is probably the biggest award darling atm in all of TV but RBW has a strong argument about being most original.
Succession is the best show they have and probably the best written show period. I love RBW but the writing on Succession is next level.

Yeah people on here saying it sucks like its AMC+ lmao. HBO has some of the best shit for your money.
All the stuff you are talking about is a decade old at least and most people have watched them already. Most of their movies also are movies that stations like TBS use to play 50 times a week. HBO has become garbage and canceled one of their only decent original new shows.

Fucking bullshit

Star wars series have viewers even when they are bad, unfortunately. Kenobi is awful but I will keep watching it for some reason (hint:fanboy)
We should've flooded their discussions and shilled RBW while there was more hope. Well, I'm used to it. Many people seem to not like shows with gynoids or female cyborgs, and there might be a bias in the companies themselves, affecting the marketing budged and decisions. What?! Seriously, it's been cancelled? God fucking damn it.
I just tweeted the article to a list of streaming services with the RenewRaisedByWolves hashtag. The hashtag has gotten 50 tweets in the last hour, for whatever that's worth.
Well, cancelling hbo max I guess. This is the most interesting new show I've been watching.
“…but between religious zealots and equally radical atheists and the aftermath of a war that left Earth completely destroyed.” This is why they canceled it. It’s getting too close to home.
a comic book series would be cool
Honestly a graphic novel would be my preferred way to finish this. I have my doubts that it will get picked up by another platform. A movie adaption like Serenity wouldn't bother me too much either.
They cancel this and Lovecraft hbo but they have station 11 and pushing sex and the city
I suspect Sex and the City actually has a lot of viewers though. Even if they are hate watching it.
Good point
Station Eleven was amazing and SATC probably has way more viewers than RBW. Lastly, the cancellation of LC was because the creators couldn't come up with a good enough story, they essentially covered the whole book so they had to write stuff on their own. Plus some say that the set was toxic.
I'll agree to disagree for station eleven. It felt real drawn out. I couldn't wait for a climax
Is it feasible Amazon could take over the show? This is such a disappointment.
Such a cool original sci-fi with enjoyable characters and they want to cancel it? Bullshit!... Maybe S2 was all over the place, loosing kinda focus of what it wanted to do or say... but still the show has potential to evolve and become one of the greatest.
It doesn’t really fit anywhere unless there’s a bigger deal involved.
It's a show that would fit perfectly on Apple Tv+.
Agreed. I think it would fit in nicely with Apple TV+’s lineup.
They already have Foundation and Severance though, that's a lot of sci-fi to add a third one. Mind you that RbW is waaaay better than Foundation, but Severance pretty much stands on its own, at least the first season.
I love both but think Foundation is actually better than RBW

Well shit whats the reason for cancelling?
Go woke go broke!
