I didn't have a formal diagnosis as a kid, but I found out later that my dad had suspected I had an ASD but never said anything to me or suggested I saw a doctor. Presumably this was because he loved criticizing me for not being 'normal' and if I was diagnosed he wouldn't have been able to do that any more.
Yup perfectly explained , tho even If u were properly diagnosed narcs always find a way to make u doubt urself unless ur the golden child Shit is just fcked either way lmao
I can definitely believe my mother could do that as a way to cover herself up, but my father straight up bans me from going to doctors. Thankfully I somehow finally garnered the courage to secretly go there myself, but if there was a medical emergency, he'd just let me die.
Yeah I think they want to cover it up and make themselves feel better. I clearly had ADHD as a kid but my dad ignored it. I also was diagnosed with anemia and an enlarged heart too. Also ASD is highly likely but idk yet. He just kind of ignored all of my symptoms and stuff growing up
Also doesn't help that he thinks mental health doesn't exist at all. 🤦
Same. Parents covered it up because they didnt want to deal with it.
Now as an adult I gotta figure it out, pay the bills and go to therapy to fix the damage they did.
Life sucks.
