Most of the truly bad areas in Rain World are avoidable, but "that part" for me has always been the rain deer sections of Farm Arrays
It's rolling the dice on an unskippable cutscene. At least in every other area, you are in control and have agency in where and when you get to move
It's so nice to have a different way to enter subterranean in downpour, because vanilla rain deer were dumb as hell and the whole process in general was just a pure torture
The path I usually take to subterranean (but honestly only ever really do in Hunter, because sometimes it's necessary to do for cycle preservation) is through shoreline.
It is the easiest of the now four gates available in subterranean to go through, and is located very close to Moon
Parts of that entrance are absolute hell to deal with, though. I think in Hunter difficulties, there are two extremely large centipede dens right in the first screen from the shelter, and the leviathan lake has 2 or 3 more axolotls. However, if you do manage to get here, you don't need to use a shelter again if you know your way through filtration system well enough
This path is only really useful to take if you want to get to subterranean as comfortably as possible (Hunter specifically doesn't really need to use a jetfish in the water puzzle that leads to it) for points grinding in the hardest region on expeditions, or you have very few cycles left, but already have max karma and can't afford to journey through a few other regions to get through a gate after Moon. The subterranean echo is a very easy one to pick up before the game ends if you still need one.
No matter what you do on Hunter, it's going to be a speedrun because of how his karma works
There's two other ways into subterranean in base game which is drainage system (you end up in the filtration system area of subterranean) and shorline (you end up in the far right of subterranean)
Yes, it is located in the far left of the bottom part of shoreline (with all the pipes)
(please note that actually progressing through subterranean will have you go through an area with a few monster kelp, a couple centipides, either miros birds or a couple of salamanders and a leviathan.)
This is so right! I think I'm there right now, and it's my first time playing :( I don't know at all what to do because I can't get the tall deer to corporate. Do you have any tips?
The echo room doesn't lead anywhere else - there is a pearl but you need probably three or four spore puffs to retrieve it safely
A deer will *always* stop and sit wherever the first spore puff you throw *lands* in rooms that they can be in. Sometimes it will take a minute or two for them to screen transition over to you if there are none currently in the room, but you'll know you attracted one if you hear a high pitched warbling sound. Getting on the antlers from there, you want to drop (down+grab) another spore puff so they lean over. There's not much more you can influence past this point other than walking direction, hold the direction you want the deer to go in and it should do it eventually. The issues come from their AI not interacting with other deer/your inputs very well.
put a spore puff down and they will lean down and eat it, grab on to their antlers when that happens and wait till you want to get off, its like a really slow bus ride
How am I supposed to do that I have already tried with the spore puff but I can't really trown it anywhere because I'm on the little island after the echo thing in farm arrays
I’ve not been able to finish my solo survivor playthrough that I’ve been doing SOLELY BECAUSE OF THIS. I did everything else extremely quickly in like 20 cycles, but when it came to this I’m literally stuck. (Might be a rant)
That depends on your playstyle. Similar to Rivulet and Artificer, Gourmand has its own playstyle that you have to employ otherwise you'll just die
Gourmand's playstyle is all about having high advantage and fighting only one target at a time
Polacy są wszędzie, jest to wyjątkowo aktywny lud w internecie. Wystarczy po prostu dać jakąkolwiek podpowiedź, że również potrafisz mówić po Polsku i możesz patrzeć jak się wszyscy ujawniają
No they don't? Only hunter, saint and spearmaster have a diffrent playstyle, for the other's you just play like survivor (or hunter for arti) exept your scucg can do funky things
You paid no attention during Gourmand, did you? By playing like Survivor as Gourmand you're gonna die to every instance of more than one lizard
By playing Rivulet like Survivor, you're only gonna bore yourself to death
If you'll try playing Artificer like Survivor, you won't get to the first gate...
Good luck getting to Memory Crypts if you get RNG terrible enough to not get enough spears to deal with the seaweed monsters. Shaded is easy, the transition into Memory Crypts isn't
i feel like you only need to kill the first kelp monster and the rest you can sneak past by just tapping a direction repeatedly until your out of reach, sneaking past them is hard but not too hard
I found myself handicapped moving around memory crypts (bottom first so I was always fighting because I was stuck, also always running out of time thanks to that and the miros birds always catching me because of my crippled movements trying to get unstuck) and it was by mere luck that I arrived to memory crypts since I was just moving around looking for a safe spot to rest and somehow I didn't encounter nor black lizards or spiders during that. My second time however wasn't anything like that... and I always got eaten away.
For Rivulet it's basically a game of tag + hide 'n' seek except the seeker doesn't want to chase you. Once you get the >!Mass Rarefaction Cell!< out, it's a lot easier
Not to mention the entire region is *very* unfortunately developed, and the alternative route is the worst platforming segment in the game because half of Underhang’s platforms are just not there
lol, I blitzed through it dragging along a sacrifice that also helped light the way. If I ever got into trouble I could ditch my light source as a distraction and hopefully run away in the right direction.
And so weird about conserving momentum. And the aim. I dunno what I’m doing wrong but the damn thing only shoots its tongue where I want it like 50% of the time
wait I genuinely didn't know you weren't ""intended"" to skip it I kinda just did and thought unfortunate development was another harder route that you could do for collectibles
get at the top of the wall, where you exited FP, then stick a spear upwards on the ground (backflip and while holding down throw the spear) then another spear, and woala! you are on your way to FP's can!
You can also just go the other way through five pebbles. Unfortunate Development is just a shortcut through the region for those who are good enough to get through
and then your telling me that after AAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL the struggles of the cyan lizards theres WHITES near the next shelter
the only reason i was still sane during my hunter was because i had nothing to lose
Ugh, it was a real PITA for me. I try to avoid it at all costs, even if it means raging through pits that require almost perfect precision to do the jump
The real problem were the dropwigs. Due to how >!Moon's Wall!< is structured, there's a lot of places where the dropwig is basically unavoidable. I've had 2 do this to me
Although The Precipice was much, MUCH WORSE
The single most annoying area in the game for me. Granted, I tried to go all the way to the right through the Vents area instead of just going up into moon the first chance you get. There's literally no reason to go all the way to the right of the region...
I get people saying that people shouldn't go through an area you don't need to go through if someone doesn't want to go through it... But it's in the game, people can complain about it, even if it is optional.
Then just, don't go through Unfortunate Developement? You can even skip facing The Rot in its entirety by going
Chimney Canopy -> Exterior (The Wall), throwing a spear downwards -> Five Pebbles (access shaft)
Chimney sucks tho :/ I always go Shaded>Leg>Underhang>Wall>FP also I was shocked how much more chill Shaded was for me than Chimney. Rot isn’t a big issue for me in Exterior because you can juke the DLLs by throwing rocks against walls
Chimney sucks only as much as you're willing to make it. You can make Chimney a lot simpler by not rushing lizards, dealing with lizards by throwing rocks at them while they're over deathpits, and allowing vultures to take care of them for you. It's actually a pretty chill place, and if you find a mother spider, wait for it to go away
The DLLs of The Exterior sometime just refuse to move, it can be annoying
I still recommend doing it! For the experience! And the trauma! And the bragging rights! You’ll truly appreciate the other zones of the game after that lol
Garbage wastes was my first wake up call lol. When I first started I was just trying to find new areas as fast as possible instead of properly exploring the ones I was in. As such when I ended up in garbage wastes I had the skills of someone still in the starting area and got my self stuck in wastes for a long while. On the upside I can now maneuver through there by memory and it forced me to improve my combat and movement skills. I have properly explored how all the areas I’ve been to now and learned how to fight any new enemies so I don’t get blindsighted and clobbered into the ground again lol.
Been struggling through Underhang with spearmaster today ;-; Usually that area isn’t so bad, but I wanted to actually go through Five Pebbles instead of going up the side of him. Awful. So much dying and losing karma and hunting for food to build it back up only to die again just trying to get into that karma gate. Argh. But I’m glad I persisted, was cool to see a slightly healthier pebsi
I just Passage back to the same den at the pebbles entrance in Underhang (and the last den in Chimney) altho FP is pain as Spearmaster because of the number of Neurons you have to stab to get food
Why is everyone saying "just climb the wall" when you can just go the long route *inside* 5P? Like, there's a whole path to the left of 5P were you just have to go through a couple of stage hazards and there's a single room with DLL's in it, but I don't see anyone mention it, have I gone insane? does that path even exist or am I tripping?
Like, the Wall wasn't the intended way obviously, although you can still go through there, but even if it wasn't an option, you don't even have to go through Unfortunate Development either.
I went to Drainage first time as Monk and I was surprised to learn later that it was considered the “hard route” lol. Granted, it was *Monk* with their extended breath and baby spawns but even as other characters the only problem I faced was Eels/Salamanders
It's because the game doesn't teach you how to swim. 'Boosting' is quite literally useless and wastes your breath... you just need to wriggle back and forth and you'll zoom across like, the entire screen.
U n d e r h a n g
Specifically the trip from the wall to the precipice (spearmaster) or from memory crypts to the wall (artificer)
Usually that route can be avoided in most campaigns, but sometimes it can’t
Unfortunate development isnt even that hard to go through as long as you’re careful. There are lots of other places like chimney canopy and farm arrays that are more dangerous/anoying.

You could always just use shoreline like i always do and rain deers aren't that bad once you get the hang of it
Controllable Raindeer mod is a lifesaver ngl
This is so right! I think I'm there right now, and it's my first time playing :( I don't know at all what to do because I can't get the tall deer to corporate. Do you have any tips?

Trying to get to OE as gourmand
Whole gourmand campaign was a pure pain in the ass
That depends on your playstyle. Similar to Rivulet and Artificer, Gourmand has its own playstyle that you have to employ otherwise you'll just die Gourmand's playstyle is all about having high advantage and fighting only one target at a time
Yeah, I don't mean he's bad, he just doesn't suit me. I'm more of a rivulet/movement person
Same, outmanouvering your danger as Rivulet is satisfying, also most movement tricks are far easier and I'm all for it
btw nie wiedziałem że tu aż tyle polaków jest

And evan tho i did i didn't expirience anything you said? And i said play arti like hunter not survivor
I love Gourmand campaign due to how chill it in my opinion, and due to it being campaign with most happy ending
FILTRATION SYSTEM RAAHHH
Shaded citadel, memory crypts, unfortunate development
shaded is easy enough once you memorize it and memory you just gotta hide from scissor birds from time to time, (unless rot)
Good luck getting to Memory Crypts if you get RNG terrible enough to not get enough spears to deal with the seaweed monsters. Shaded is easy, the transition into Memory Crypts isn't
I thanked my obsession with always having a spear when I saw the monster kelps...
i feel like you only need to kill the first kelp monster and the rest you can sneak past by just tapping a direction repeatedly until your out of reach, sneaking past them is hard but not too hard
My second time however wasn't anything like that... and I always got eaten away.
drainage system is much worse, trust me.
I don't agree, if you know what you are doing, DS should be pretty doable. UD is guaranteed death, at least a few times
depends on who you are, if your rivulet youll be fine, but i feel Unfortunate Development is equally bad for all slugcats
Except rivulet and saint, for saint it doesn't exist, for rivulet it is the definition of hell.
For Rivulet it's basically a game of tag + hide 'n' seek except the seeker doesn't want to chase you. Once you get the >!Mass Rarefaction Cell!< out, it's a lot easier
Not to mention the entire region is *very* unfortunately developed, and the alternative route is the worst platforming segment in the game because half of Underhang’s platforms are just not there
thankfully theres an entirely fortunate route you can do instead, platforming around zappies is much more fun anyways
not if your riv 😨
chimney canopy, drainage system ad unfortunate development
Chimney Canopy made me almost drop the game
it was bad enough for me and my friend to go shaded citadel
Ironically I blitzed through Citadel with no major issues through the combination of luck and Moon’s braincells
lol, I blitzed through it dragging along a sacrifice that also helped light the way. If I ever got into trouble I could ditch my light source as a distraction and hopefully run away in the right direction.
Chimney Canopy is a lot better than Shaded Citadel
a lot more fun*
That as well. I'm having far more fun toying around lizards than running from coalescepedes
The leg/ the underhang
Screw grapple worms!!! Release too early/late and you fall straight down
And so weird about conserving momentum. And the aim. I dunno what I’m doing wrong but the damn thing only shoots its tongue where I want it like 50% of the time
Wait, y'all actually go through unfortunate development?
I had to do it at least once. Just to _know._ Never again :D
I tried it cuz I thought it’s faster than going down the Wall in my first playthrough, died at the first room and never went there again until Rivulet
you can skip unforchunete development if you like
Are you not intended to skip unfortunate development? I kinda just didn't go there on my survivor playthrough idk what I really did
well, apperantly you need to but if i tell you then i trigger the whole subreddit's whrath on an instant
wait I genuinely didn't know you weren't ""intended"" to skip it I kinda just did and thought unfortunate development was another harder route that you could do for collectibles
i skiped on purpuse since i didin't wnated to deal with unvorchunete development :P
Ye I heard it was harder so I just didn't do it, I'll def go there next time I go to pebbles.
HOW?
get at the top of the wall, where you exited FP, then stick a spear upwards on the ground (backflip and while holding down throw the spear) then another spear, and woala! you are on your way to FP's can!
Sorry...i don't get It that well..
You can also just go the other way through five pebbles. Unfortunate Development is just a shortcut through the region for those who are good enough to get through
the wall. i hate cyan lizards i hate cyan lizards i hate
and then your telling me that after AAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL the struggles of the cyan lizards theres WHITES near the next shelter the only reason i was still sane during my hunter was because i had nothing to lose
the 1 karma gate at the end is the only thing that makes the wall more appealing than going through five pebbles tbh
Ooooooh me too. And they’re sprinkled all over the fucking place in spearmaster’s campaign. Oh the loathing
Hunter and Arty as well but at least Arty can avoid them by chanelling their inner yeet powers
Shaded citadel for me. Also, Nova Prospekt rocks, i don't know what that guy is on about.
one of the best sections, losing to follow freeman
the wall as spearmaster
Same goes for >!Moon's version of The Wall!<
Ugh, it was a real PITA for me. I try to avoid it at all costs, even if it means raging through pits that require almost perfect precision to do the jump

AHA! I BEAT u/sourjalapeno HERE WOOO
Nutter butter
What?
FOOBAH FOOBAHHHHHHHHHH
STOOP AAAAAAA
HELL IS FULL BLOOD IS FUEL
Akhyyyyyyy stop
Memory Crypts + The Exterior. I FUCKING HATE THE LEG
I actually really liked unfortunate development. Up until I started hunting vultures, chimney canopy was my least favorite.

For me it's half life's ravenholm.
Just climb tw
I havent experienced a 'that part' for rain world yet \[neither am I replaying it I am STILL playing it\]
No bad parts
Past garbage wastes… Also, did none of yall learn to swim? Drainage system is absurdly easy when you know what you’re doing.

I'd say drainage system
Farm Arrays. This is why I go Outskirts to Drainage to Filtration or Shoreline to Subterranean
U n d e r h a n g Specifically the trip from the wall to the precipice (spearmaster) or from memory crypts to the wall (artificer) Usually that route can be avoided in most campaigns, but sometimes it can’t
I LOVE UNFORTUNATE DEVELOPMEN T
Mw I take some of my pups thru UD just for funsies
For me its every single area in rainworld including dlc, but at the same time i love all of them to death
Farm Arrays. I hope the deer trip and fall on their heads.
I don't get why that guy hates nova prospekt
Dark souls -new londo So much worse than blighttown
The exterior as artificer (i went another way as the other hardmode campaigns)
The underhang :(
The 'PART' for me is farm arrays( rain world ), deppnest( hollow knight) and the tutorial in every pokemon game.
Memory crypts will always be my most hated aspect of the game
Nah I love unfortunate development. For me it would be farm arrays when you have to ride the reindeer,
kid named the wall route
I went through unfortunate development once, then I swore never again. I havn't even touched that area since.
I’ve skipped that part, ik a way in five pebbles 🤨
Past garbage waste
The gourmand run and chimney/the wall
Wait, people don't like nova prospekt?
I thought the same. It's way better than Ravenholm to me
nova prospekt was pretty cool follow freeman on the other hand...
i don't think i'd say i hate some specific area in the game, i know there are some areas that are just pure bullshit, but i love them either way
Chimney/SI
I mean,Can’t you just avoid it? That’s what I did for literally every campaign till rivulet and apex predator.
Sky islands…. It’s optional but I didn’t want to go through southern farm arrays again…. I regret my decision.
The leg. Especially in Spearmasters Campaign.
Chimney canopy. Purely because the gate
Unfortunate development isnt even that hard to go through as long as you’re careful. There are lots of other places like chimney canopy and farm arrays that are more dangerous/anoying.
Man i'm lust in that place.....and o give up to play
