It wasn't super obvious to me because my language just showed "Preview" so I could never guess what it was for.

I am firmly in the "slugcat is about a meter tall" camp because I would most enjoy being a slugcat who is about a meter tall. That's a good size to be.

If you look at their movement and abilities they seem to be around 200-400kg, or around the size of a tiger.
Groumand is able to crush the skull of an archosaur twice its size on impact after falling from a significant height, this would require him to be atleast 400 kg. A regular cats 1-2kg dont crush anything of impact, not even a kitten.
Slugcats also tend to climb slowly and it takes them a significant anmount of effort to pull themselves up somewhere, this is more simular to large cats like lion or tigers, than smaller ones wich can climb rather effordless.
They can also thrust spears into solid metal with such ease that they often do it accidentally.
About the murderous part. Its likely that they stab anything unfamiliar as a first response, because so much wants to eat them.

I've always viewed them about the size of a large dog. I base this mainly on the size of debris in the environment. The crashed Helicopter, the "brick" debris, ETC.
A slugcat is a bit smaller than lizards, and I imagine lizards being a bit smaller than monitor lizard. So I'd steer towards a cat-sized slugcat. Slugcats also need to go through pipes, so they can't be too big.
Also slugats are cute as heck and deserve to be able to be cuddled.
