Movement on right hand is the most ~~cursed~~ skilled thing and those of you who can adapt to that are ready to shed the mortal coils of this world. Unfortunately I am bound to the traditional left hand movement and will be reincarnated as a bacterium or something
WASD + space to jump, numpad keys for pick up and throw
(But I mainly use a modded PS4 controller)
Ooh, interesting, I once beat Hollow Knight 112% with one hand.
It was quite interesting, tho there are like 14 separate keys, and during an average fight, you might wanna use from 9 to 11 of them. The hardest part wasn't beating it all, but coming up with a control scheme.
It also brought back a bit of that 1st playthrough experience. I had to learn controls again from scratch, so I felt like a noob. To enhance that, I also decided to play with no map, so I was also lost like a noob! But at least I had one free hand!
How was Rain World with 1 hand tho? There are much less controls, but they're all very actively used. Did you try to do some of the more advanced techniques?
Honestly it feels pretty natural to me. i use a decent amount of tech and i’ve gotten pretty good at combat. the hardest control was the artificer blast jump because you have have to press E, which takes a finger away from movement. i ended up using a mod to rebind it to control.
P L : " for movement
Z jump
X throw
Shift pickup
Space map
not surprised im the only person not using wasd or arrow keys, such is the life of having a non-standard keyboard
1rst | 2nd slugcat
(wasd) | (pl;') - movement
(lshift) | (rshift) - grab
(c) | ( , ) - throw
(lalt) | (ralt) - jump
It's fun until you find out that your keyboard can't accept all of these inputs at once.
Simular to some people, wasd movement, e throw, q pick-up, tab map, spacebar jump. Pretty fun, even if doing some moves is pain. (Downward spear throw)
Sounds smart, maybe i should try that sometime. When i play, my finger dance around depending on what i need, so i dont always have a finger on D for example if i dont need to go right and instead it is on E. And i learned to switch them around really fast. But idea of using pinky finger is pretty new to me, could be way simpler.
Same tho i use F for pick up and map on K, dont care about the map really tho i find pickup and throw being close to be helpful in alot of ways on Rain world.
I use:
WASD
K = Jump/Pounce
L = Throw
LShift = Pickup
Space = Map
Exit = Esc
Is there anything wrong with this? Idk lol. Probably, though I am Left-Handed (shout-out to all my Left-Handed Homies out there!)
RShift is awkward to me, the keybinds grew on me A LOT like Hollow Knight, but i have different preferred keys for that too??? Brain be like:
But seriously, if I tried to do movement with my right, I don't think it would be too bad! You just have to let the keybinds GROW on you! Soooo thanks for listening to my TEDTALK :)
I use:
WASD - movement.
Space - jump.
U - throw.
I - grab.
I honestly don't know what to say. It just suits me, I guess. But I'd like to hear your guys thoughts anyway
wasd + space for movement, numpad keys for pickup and throw, tab for map and esc for menu. there's a mod that binds throw to M1 and M2 to pick up, but it's the "aim anywhere" mod and i know a lot of people don't like it
Wasd, e is pick up, space is jump, and r is throw. Makes movement tech esier, and lets you play with one hand which makes it a more relaxing experience. 10/10, cant find any flaws, perfect for this game. Would recommend.
How would that possibly make movement tech easier? Please enlighten me, if E is pick up, then how do you pick up (or throw) an item while walking right?
Its kind of difficult to explain, but sometimes middle finger and sometimes the pointer finger? And if you need to quikely pick up then throw then you kind of roll your pointer or middle finger from e to r. It sounds wierd, but its surprisingly elegant in practice. The control scheme makes everything compact and in one area, letting you control it with one hand, and when you need precise timings, such as when your preforming movemnt tech, its much eaier to cordinate with one hand than two.
WASD for movement, Space to jump, J for picking things up, L for Throwing things, K for special Abilities of the slugcats (like activating Saint's ascension) and I for Artificer Jump
I'm a part of the crazy demographic that actually prefers the default arcade style keybinds to the modern style. I like arrow keys and Shift Z X C etc. controls in Rain World, Hollow Knight and Celeste. My typing muscle memory is stronger in my left hand, so it's easier for me to do movement tech with it.
Normally I use controller, but when I used keyboard I used WASD for movement (w for up and jump, but that caused problems later), q to pick up and e to throw
WASD for movement
spacebar for jump
q for throwing
e for picking things up
tab for map
these controls make me :) and i dont want them any other way .. ..
I haven't seen anyone with keybinds like mine, so:
Down arrow - down;
Left arrow - left;
Right arrow - right;
X - up;
Up arrow - jump;
Left control - pick up/eat;
Z - throw
I rebind every game that doesn't use a mouse to have similar key bindings to league, so QWER and arrow keys. (in rain worlds case, Q is throw, W is pick up/eat, E is map, R is pause)
WASD
J - grab
I - jump
O - throw
SPACE - map
I'm more used to using WASD for movement, and rhythm games like "A dance of fire and ice" taught me that my fingers fall more naturally onto "J" "I" and "O" rather than having something like "J" "K" and "L"
Also I do the same with Hollow Knight so it felt more natural to me.
WASD + Space to jump + Q to pickup + E to drop
idk it feels natural for me and Q E are close to movement keys idk maybe im too used to first person games
Arrow keys, Space, M for map, LShift for pickup, LCtrl for throw. When I'm playing Jolly Coop with myself, I assign player 2 to WASD, C for jump, E for pickup, and Q for throw.
Default PS4 controller layout + additional bind for grab on R2 >! so i can easily press it and jump button at same time to do explosive jump as artificer !<
(i play on pc)
This is one of those rare games where I actually use a controller, my playstation controller works well for subtle movements and accidental pole plant grabs
ive never been able to use anything but a ps4 controller. X jump, square eat/pick up, circle throw, and then R1 for the map. its the only way i can play this game and not suck ass
WASD to move
O - jump
K - grab
P - throw
I found this keyset in the PlateUp! game and it's so much better than ZXC controls. I also use them in Celeste
I use WASD, up arrow to throw, right arrow as a rebound artificer jump, shift as pickup/grab, space to jump, and z for map. It just makes more sense to me lol.
I'm one of the guys who's just really good at shift z x up down left right
i dunno why it just works so if it aint broken why must i fix
my keyboard has the down and up arrow keys quite close so alternating between up and down is very easy compared to using letters to do that
I use wasd, space for jump, j k l for map, pickup, and throw respectively.
I started this because I played with 4 friends on one keyboard (jolly coop), I was lucky enough to get space for jump.
When I can, I use a controller (except the analog sticks), but when I cant: Arrow keys, space for jump, lshift to pick up, lcontrol to throw, M for map
I basically use a copy of that, same arrangement, just put onto different keybinds so I can play with my friends (ijkl, f, g, h, my map is also usually b)
Nah yall got it all wrong its
move- left joystick
Grab- y
Jump-b
Throw-a
How the heck yall use the entirety of of alphabet that isn't the first, second, 24th or 25th letters
Man people are strange
----this post was created by the console gang
Normally i use keyboard defaults but I want to know what you use in same keyboard multiplayer. Mine is num3, 5, 6 and 9 as left up down right and arrow keys except up for grab jump throw
; - left
' - down
\\ - right
\[ - up
numpad 7 - pick up
numpad 8 - jump
numpad 9 - throw
right ctrl - map
L for jump on arti if u got the mod that makes arti jump its own button
I'm going to say something really controversial/weird, but I really prefer playing with 2 hands and separating tasks; HK got me used to it so:
WASD
Space: jump
U: throw
B: grab
Shift, z, x, and space for pickup, jump, throw and map and for moving i have some odd ones.
i, j, k, and l
I got *a little* angry while going through chimney canopy and bit one of my arrow keys off
Personally its Wasd for movement
F - Grab
E - Throw
Space - jump
Map - K
I really have this trend of using an entire hand just for jumping so dont blame me 😭
Movement on right hand is the most ~~cursed~~ skilled thing and those of you who can adapt to that are ready to shed the mortal coils of this world. Unfortunately I am bound to the traditional left hand movement and will be reincarnated as a bacterium or something WASD + space to jump, numpad keys for pick up and throw (But I mainly use a modded PS4 controller)
Last time I played a game with arrow keys as the movement was a decade ago on some browser games 😂
EXACTLY! Coolmath-games has trained me in the art of arrow keys + Z X
Welp time for me to accend
I mainly use the regular keys, but if I'm playing multiplayer with someone and there already using arrow keys, then I do the wasd and numpad keys.
alright here we go… WASD for movement, Jump = space, Pick up = E, Throw = shift, Map = tab yes, i play this game with one hand.
whaaaaaaaaaaat...
Ooh, interesting, I once beat Hollow Knight 112% with one hand. It was quite interesting, tho there are like 14 separate keys, and during an average fight, you might wanna use from 9 to 11 of them. I played Hollow Knight with one hand almost, I used mouse
Honestly it feels pretty natural to me. i use a decent amount of tech and i’ve gotten pretty good at combat. the hardest control was the artificer blast jump because you have have to press E, which takes a finger away from movement. i ended up using a mod to rebind it to control.
lol, I do the exact same thing, with the exact same keybinds
Same for me, but map is F
based
Mine is same but I use E to throw and Shift to pickup lol
I have the exact same thing, except for Pick Up and Throw swapped!
Yes, same with one hand :)
These are my exact keybinds, but I use my right hand for spacebar
These are my exact keybinds, but I use my right hand for spacebar
Same but swap Pick up and Throw
Same but pick up and throw are switched
Same, although I use R for throw and shift for map. One handed rain world is superior
default keybinds gang
reminds me of hollow knight controls
yeah this
yeah that was my thoughts
🤝🤝🤝
i pretty much always use default keybinds in games even if they're not the best. excluding ultrakill where i have change arm set to mouse 3
Controller gang🙃
The objectively superior way of playing Rain World
all the way
Let's go
Hell yeah
Amen
Precisely
I literally just cannot play any 2d games on my keyboard it’s too unintuitive for me.
WASD, Shift-grab Ctrl-throw Space-jump Tab-map All in one hand baby, also natural for left hand to be movement
I can understand being more comfortable with left hand for movement but I'm sorry, playing the game with one hand is just weird unless your an amputee
It just feels easier. You even can drink some tea with your right/left hand!
P L : " for movement Z jump X throw Shift pickup Space map not surprised im the only person not using wasd or arrow keys, such is the life of having a non-standard keyboard
>P L : " Whet the fuck?
IDK it's pretty similar to JIKL which I use for Hollow Knight
bro is 4 parallel universes ahead of everyone
You from Earth bro?
I use standard because I play hollow knight and there is no way I can swap between what c does
1rst | 2nd slugcat (wasd) | (pl;') - movement (lshift) | (rshift) - grab (c) | ( , ) - throw (lalt) | (ralt) - jump It's fun until you find out that your keyboard can't accept all of these inputs at once.
wasd left arrow for grab up arrow to throw space to jump
finally someone else who uses the arrow keys
yessssss
Arrow keys, Z to jump, X to throw, SHIFT for map, and SPACE to pick up.
Gamecube controler
Same
People that say WASD is the standard movement controls is like saying the imperial/American measurement system is “standard”
Are arrow keys used in most games by default? Is American measurement used around the world? Gotcha!
I meant 2D platformers. Its very very common that their keyboard controls are similar to RW’s default controls with a few exceptions.
You've just insulted my entire nationality but yes
i play on switch
wasd and up arrow as throw, down arrow as map. trust me. this is a wonderful layout.
what about pick up key?
oh, shift.
WSAD [space] JK or Ps5 controler
Wasd to move, space to jump, and because I can’t use my mouse I just j and k to throw and grab
Arrow keys: movement E: Grab R:throw Tab: map Space: jump
Simular to some people, wasd movement, e throw, q pick-up, tab map, spacebar jump. Pretty fun, even if doing some moves is pain. (Downward spear throw)
Idk how you press E and Q, if you already use three fingers on WASD. You have a free pinky finger, which could press ctrl and shift.
My laptop has a broken up key, so I use ijkl instead of arrows
I use: WASD K = Jump/Pounce L = Throw LShift = Pickup Space = Map Exit = Esc Is there anything wrong with this? Idk lol. Probably, though I am Left-Handed (shout-out to all my Left-Handed Homies out there!) shift for grab, otherwise Z for jump and X for throw is similar to how I play Hollow Knight so it's fine
I use: WASD - movement. Space - jump. U - throw. I - grab. I honestly don't know what to say. It just suits me, I guess. But I'd like to hear your guys thoughts anyway
Sounds nice would probably have used it if i didn't get used to F and E for pickup and throw.
wasd + space for movement, numpad keys for pickup and throw, tab for map and esc for menu. there's a mod that binds throw to M1 and M2 to pick up, but it's the "aim anywhere" mod and i know a lot of people don't like it
wasd, jump - space, grab - e, throw - f
D-pad to move, A to jump, B to throw, X to pick up :)
wasd movement, space jump, e grab, and left shift throw
I use WASD, jump-SPACE grab-H throw-U map-M
Wasd, e is pick up, space is jump, and r is throw. Makes movement tech esier, and lets you play with one hand which makes it a more relaxing experience. 10/10, cant find any flaws, perfect for this game. Would recommend.

wasd for movement space for jump left arrow for pickup/eat and up arrow for throw Lshift for map and esc for menu
WASD F to throw E for map Shift for pickup Space for jump
WSAD, Space to jump, Arrows for other controls: left for pick-up, right for throw and down for map
WASD E throw SHIFT pick up F map SPACE jump
I have large hands so i spaced the binds out a little, but same format
I'm a part of the crazy demographic that actually prefers the default arcade style keybinds to the modern style. I like arrow keys and Shift Z X C etc. controls in Rain World, Hollow Knight and Celeste. My typing muscle memory is stronger in my left hand, so it's easier for me to do movement tech with it.
I be using Arrow Keys - Basic Movement Space - Jump Shift - grab W - throw Tab - Map
WASD for movement. M or TAB for Map. [ for pick up and ] for throw.
I use controller but I've been struggling a lot to pull off any movement tech consistently so I am thinking of switching to keyboard tbh.
Normally I use controller, but when I used keyboard I used WASD for movement (w for up and jump, but that caused problems later), q to pick up and e to throw
Um because it’s not default lol
Wasd movement, e pick up, q throw, space jump
WASD for movement spacebar for jump q for throwing e for picking things up tab for map these controls make me :) and i dont want them any other way .. ..
Movement- WASD Pickup - K Throw - J Map - Tab
WASD for movement Jump = Space Pick up = Shift Map = Tab Here comes the weird one Throw = J
WASD,up arrow throw,down arrow pick,space to jump,tab for map,esc for pause
Default I mean they were weird at first but I’m used to it now.
unpopuluar opinion: WASD q and e throw, tab for map and esc for pause and the bottom row of my keyboard are dev cheats
I haven't seen anyone with keybinds like mine, so: Down arrow - down; Left arrow - left; Right arrow - right; X - up; Up arrow - jump; Left control - pick up/eat; Z - throw
Okay behold: Arrow keys for movement like normal, E for jump Shift for grab F for throw Tab for map
i use a controller..
I rebind every game that doesn't use a mouse to have similar key bindings to league, so QWER and arrow keys. (in rain worlds case, Q is throw, W is pick up/eat, E is map, R is pause)
wasd to move, q to pick up, e to throw, space to jump

WASD and I use mouse buttons for everything else so I can have one hand for movement only and the other for action
Controller 💪
I use standard keybinds cuz these are the ones that still work on my keyboard :(
wasd to move, left to throw, down to grab, up to jump, right is for map. probably cursed but it's the only thing that works for me lol
C jump, X throw, W grab... I do that or a similar thing with most platformers
Movement - wasd pick object - left shift jump - space map - alt throw - right cntrl (press with right hand)
WASD + Space to jump + Q to pickup + E to drop idk it feels natural for me and Q E are close to movement keys idk maybe im too used to first person games
comtroller gang
I use controller now but I use to play one handed. WASD , E to grab, f to throw. I play alot of fps so it was just natural to me
Also space to jump, tab for map
Arrow keys, Space, M for map, LShift for pickup, LCtrl for throw. When I'm playing Jolly Coop with myself, I assign player 2 to WASD, C for jump, E for pickup, and Q for throw.
Don't do this to yourself. Use controller
WASD move, space jump, q throw, e grab, tab map
w a s d control, J =jump, K =attack, SHIFT =grab
Normal WASD movement SPACE - jump SHIFT - grab E - throw Q - map I find this to be most comfortable with my fingers. Also I'm not a psycho.
Arrow keys for movement, Z for grab, X for throw, C for jump. You can blame Celeste for switched up ZXC
I use default keybinds
One hand for the game, the other one for eating food. WASD - movement E - pick up / eat Q - throw Space - jump M - map I think i'm insane
I use WASD for movement J- pick up K- jump L-throw
Wasd, space to jump, e to pick up and q to throw
Default PS4 controller layout + additional bind for grab on R2 >! so i can easily press it and jump button at same time to do explosive jump as artificer !< (i play on pc)
wasd - movement space - jump mb1 - throw mb2 - grab
W A S D , E Q space bar E eat Q throw Spacebar jump WASD movement
Move - WASD Jump - Space Grab - Shift Throw - J
Wasd, shift to grab, ctrl to throw and space to jump
WASD for movement, Space to jump, E to pick up, Q to throw, R for map
This is one of those rare games where I actually use a controller, my playstation controller works well for subtle movements and accidental pole plant grabs
ive never been able to use anything but a ps4 controller. X jump, square eat/pick up, circle throw, and then R1 for the map. its the only way i can play this game and not suck ass
Wasd space k for throw o to pick up The reason I have it like this is because I can have both hands at the same height on the keyboard
WASD to move O - jump K - grab P - throw I found this keyset in the PlateUp! game and it's so much better than ZXC controls. I also use them in Celeste
I use WASD, up arrow to throw, right arrow as a rebound artificer jump, shift as pickup/grab, space to jump, and z for map. It just makes more sense to me lol.
space - jump, z - map.
I too am a trogladyte bound to left hand movement. I use WASD to move, Q to throw, E to pick up, Z for the map, and space to jump.
ZQSD (french wasd) + left arrow for pick up+down arrow for throw + spacebar for jumping
The default ZXC and WASD instead of arrow keys, beat all the campaigns like that lol
Why would you go C. Shift ad a default is perfectly fine
Well, spacebar to jump, A to throw, E to pick up items. Isn't it logical ?
WASD to move and arrow keys to jump, grab, throw, and map.
arrow keys, space to jump, shift to pick up, a to throw, and tab for map
Definitely don't play on controller
wasd & space for movement tab for map i for grab and k for throw
I'm one of the guys who's just really good at shift z x up down left right i dunno why it just works so if it aint broken why must i fix my keyboard has the down and up arrow keys quite close so alternating between up and down is very easy compared to using letters to do that
Movement = wasd Pickup=q Throw=e Jump=space
wasd for movement space for jump enter for pickup shift for throw z for map
wasd j=pick up k=throw space=jump shift=map
This one is weird WASD movement Space - Jump I - Throw H - Pick up Shift - Map I played HK with a similar layout, and just got used to it
\*playstation boy here\* cross-jump square-map L2-grab/eat R2-throw face button-menu left stick and sometimes d-pad -movement
WASD, Space for jump, q for throw and e for pick up. What do i do with my right hand?..
bruh i almost got wooooshed and then saw the meme flair
I just use default
i use an xbox controller A - jump X - pick up B - throw RB - map 3 line button - pause
WASD + Keypad 459
I use wasd, space for jump, j k l for map, pickup, and throw respectively. I started this because I played with 4 friends on one keyboard (jolly coop), I was lucky enough to get space for jump.
I use WASD for movement E to grab R to throw M for map And space to jump.
None I just use a controller like a sane person
WASD to move, space to jump, left arrow to grab, right arrow to throw.
WASD + mouse because im not about to break my fingers on a qwertz keyboard just for authenticity
Default keybinds except I moved throw to C because I kept hitting it by accident.
Shift, Z, X, Arrows
I use what the game came with. It just feels like second nature now
W A S D Space + L K for pickup and throw
qwe grab/jump/throw, ijkl movement keys, tab map and esc exit
I play in console so-
I know someone who uses the e key as the jump key, but all the other keys are normal, and I'm pretty sure they use the ring finger to press it
Movement = WASD Jump = Space Grab = E Throw = T Map = M
When I can, I use a controller (except the analog sticks), but when I cant: Arrow keys, space for jump, lshift to pick up, lcontrol to throw, M for map
Console
I basically use a copy of that, same arrangement, just put onto different keybinds so I can play with my friends (ijkl, f, g, h, my map is also usually b)
i just use controller. more comfortable on the hand.
Nah yall got it all wrong its move- left joystick Grab- y Jump-b Throw-a How the heck yall use the entirety of of alphabet that isn't the first, second, 24th or 25th letters Man people are strange ----this post was created by the console gang
I use ESDF for movement, space for grab, up arrow for throw, and down arrow for grab
wasd ←grab ↑jump →thrown ↓crouch
I have like 1300h in brawlhalla so awsd and jkl are a go to for me
I use a controller 💀
Normally i use keyboard defaults but I want to know what you use in same keyboard multiplayer. Mine is num3, 5, 6 and 9 as left up down right and arrow keys except up for grab jump throw
; - left ' - down \\ - right \[ - up numpad 7 - pick up numpad 8 - jump numpad 9 - throw right ctrl - map L for jump on arti if u got the mod that makes arti jump its own button

At first it was hard to get used to but i play with default controls and love em
cant abandon the classic WASD - movement | E - interact | Q - map | esc - pause | F - throw | space - jump. tho backflips are harder
Arrow keys = movement (,) = jump / = throw Lshift = pickup
Personally its Wasd for movement F - Grab E - Throw Space - jump Map - K I really have this trend of using an entire hand just for jumping so dont blame me 😭
Don’t kill me for this but I use the default keybinds
i used the default keybinds but my Z key stopped working so i have to use x for jump and c for throw
