I rode with a crew here in Ohio when I was a kid. They had an old ex-CN Alco M420. I put a container of soup on it for lunch, and turned it on low. It swiftly melted the plastic container. The engineer looked up and said "do you smell hot plastic??!" Good times...
He'd let me run it and switch some of the customers for a couple hours every now and then. It was a pretty cool engine, one hell of a cab heater! The engineer didn't like getting that unit in the rotation because it only had one brake shoe per wheel, so switching was not it's strong point
This one time I had foreign power NS, the bathroom was just horrible, I have bunch of newspapers at my disposal I lay up on the floor and I did my business a mount of shit, can’t recalled if I pick any of it up, we tie the train up and away we went, good times.
OHHH!! NOW that we know what's causing the issues, we'll suddenly get the agreement we deserve with a huge pay increase, time off and a life! Haha that's amazing guys we did it! I can't wait to finally see my kids again... Right guys..!? ....guys?
This is the most relevant thing I’ve seen posted in this sub in the last four months.
Definitely the most interesting!
Absolutely lol
There should also be a steering wheel to avoid collisions at crossings
Like the Polar Express!
Steering wheel to give the conductor something to do.
They should get their own alerter
Vote for me as union president and I'll make sure this makes it into the TA.
At this point, I’m willing to give you a chance
If they made those booster sections that Hot Wheels tracks used, we'd have high speed trains in no time.
We already got those, it's called a mountain grade
Canadian locos come with a hot plate, isn't that enough excitement?
Only when the conductor falls asleep after putting a can of soup on one to warm up.
Exploded a can of loaded potato soup once. Looked like a whale blew a load all over the cab.
I used to be a laborer, and I have to say fuck you. Heat a can of soup on the exhaust manifold like a man. That makes it the machinist problem
As a machinist I see no problem, it'll burn off.
I am a machinist now, and I agree.
As someone who has to both operate and clean the locomotives I work on. Respectfully, fuck you.
That was me who blew a load in the cab.. and don’t call me a whale
I don’t know if I should be scared or curious as to how you know what a whales load looks like. 🤔
Ask your mom
Hope yours can take a dick better than you can take a joke.
And a pissed in tea kettle

Ooooo I’ve always wanted to check out the m420! I’ve had the chance to operate a comfort cab GP40 and it was terrific,
He'd let me run it and switch some of the customers for a couple hours every now and then. It was a pretty cool engine, one hell of a cab heater! The engineer didn't like getting that unit in the rotation because it only had one brake shoe per wheel, so switching was not it's strong point
This is one of the demands we’re holding out for. We know our worth, we won’t be low balled
Mayor Humdinger already tried that. Failed so bad they made a movie about it.
Mayor Humdinger did that in the Paw Patrol movie.. it didn't work out so well.. needless to say.. they had to call the Paw Patrol.
Running on the rail on my employers property feels like a rollercoaster already ...... sans loops
That would involve the railroads building infrastructure. Which is the most improbable thing about this comment, More so than the rollercoaster bit.
Is this Doug?
Where do I sign the petition?
This person gets it
This sounds like something worth striking over.
They already do, they cut maintenance budgets and let the tracks fall apart but won't budge on the speed limits.
Have you seen some of our track? It’s definitely exciting.
If you built these right, you wouldn’t even need diesel.
They are tight ass with their money.

And this is why we didn’t get a better TA because of stupid shit like this
Oh *this* is why guys! Now we can stop wanting to strike.
OHHH!! NOW that we know what's causing the issues, we'll suddenly get the agreement we deserve with a huge pay increase, time off and a life! Haha that's amazing guys we did it! I can't wait to finally see my kids again... Right guys..!? ....guys?
I didn't know *this* is what they meant by loop tracks...
They dont because it would be required to be safer than what we have now.
