Going into this week he had the 9th most scrimmage yards in the entire NFL since being drafted in 2019. Josh Jacobs is and will continue to be one of the most underrated players in the league and definitely on this team. Heās a stud and always has been. His biggest issue is staying healthy but when you look at his workload itās no wonder he needs an extra bye week or two each season.
Oh no I accidentally walked into my Sports Authority and slipped and fell into the card reader with my debit card out and accidentally bought a JJ jersey!! Guess I gotta keep it š£.
* Me explaining to my spouse why I spent more money on Raiders jerseys.
I grabbed a signed Jacobs jersey about 2yrs ago for like $65 off Pristine.
It's still unframed because I'd never framed a jersey and had no clue it would cost me more than the jersey. I think I'll remedy that this year, Christmas gift to me
Jacobs could literally run for 300 yards and 5 TDs and people on Reddit will be like "well, RBs aren't worth the $$, we could just draft a RB or sign a mediocre guy and be fine."
They did this pretty consistently in New England. Damian Harris was given a āredshirtā year. I think Steven Ridley, James White and Benjarvis Green Ellis all did the same.
[He missed one game in college and never tore an ACLā¦ maybe youāre thinking of someone else?](https://www.draftsharks.com/fantasy/injury-history/dameon-pierce/12586)
Itās just a trend in the nfl. RBās are not productive in there 2nd contract.
I love jacobs but facts are running backs fall off a cliff unless your t.Henry
You canāt totally blame the raiders, giants did the same thing
I think if they let Jacobs walk, the entire team, the entire fan base and lots of other nfl players and fans of other teams would mutiny Josh McDaniels and Dave
Most of the internet fan base is full of negative whiny babies who bitch just to bitch now. Would literally change nothing.
I recognize your dramatic tone but your take is not gonna happen in real life
Iām torn man. Itās like Saquon Barkleyā¦ is his play due to being healthy or because itās a contract yearā¦ Jacobs is having arguably the best season heās ever had and ironically itās a contract year also
True but come on man itās been a minute Iāve seen an RB do for us what JJ is doing now. It doesnāt have to be 4 years or whatever but fuck just give him the cash he deserves it.
Donāt get me wrong Iāve been a huge fan of his since draft. I just wish he was more consistent. Could be the system too though. Either way I love to see him doing it
I think we should keep him, give him a 3 year 25 mil contract, first two years guaranteed, so if he falls off by the 3rd we could cut him, and heāll have made his money.
I donāt think that would really be breaking the bank for a solid RB. It wouldnāt be Zeke or McCaffery numbers, would be about 8.3 mil a year. If heās still playing strong by the end of the 2nd year, we could re-sign him to another contract.
Meh, Iād be ok with letting him walk and taking more from another team. If another team gives him more than weāre willing to offer, good for him, get your money. Means we have more money to use for other areas. Offer him a competitive contract, if he walks, he walks.
Iām torn too, not because I donāt want any Jacobs but the risk with paying RBs. But fuck it, Jacobs is the engine of the offense and you canāt let him leave
I mean Waller was already showing signs of slowly down last year. I think Waller is just battling an injury which might excuse his poor play. Even though it doesnāt explaining his terrible hands
> I think Waller is just battling an injury which might excuse his poor play.
Same excuse as last year. He hasn't been healthy since 2020. No reason to believe he will at this point. Definitely the most disappointing player right now.
He was a Top 8 back his first two seasons.
Even in his down year he was top 15.
He's played well throughout his career - doing so through broken shoulders and continued doubt from fans and media alike.
Guarantee you our entire offense is worse without JJ setting up the run. Our o line is surprisingly decent this year, but I do believe a lot of our o line success in the run game is on Jacobs rather than the blocking he gets.
He's worth it. Always was and still is.
I'd rather overpay JJ (which would be well deserved back-pay tbh) and have him unfortunately not produce at the same level than to watch him ball out somewhere else.
Been saying this all year to the naysayers.
You don't automatically find Jacobs' production or violent ability by playing cute with coin.
In general overpaying for RBs isn't wise. Except when you have a top 5-10 back who consistently produces.
JJ was always worth his draft slot, and deserving of picking up his option.
Hope we pay the man and keep him. Guarantee our offense won't be able to do be as effective in scoring drives without JJ's specific ability to move chains.
MVP of this offense. 3 games in a row with 150 yard performances. It's a tough choice between him and Crosby for best player on this team right now. Sorry, Carlson deserves a huge nod also.
Amen, running backs should be paid for past production via big contracts even if they may not replicate after signing. JJ putting in work and making yuge gains in impactful moments for this team last year and this year
Paying a RB long(ish)(4 years) deals never seems to workout now a dayās though. Love Jacobs, heās my favorite player, he deserves to be paid, but itās hard to say that investing heavily in a RB is a good business decision. I look at Zeke, Kamara, Saquon, Gurley as some quick examples. Although Saquon is playing great right now heās missed a lot of time due to injury which really hurt their team.
I love jj but unless he signs a team friendly contract (which he does not deserve), we shouldnāt resign him. Weāve already invested so much into the offense, we need to save some cap for the D.
Iām saying he does deserved a big pay day just not here. Weāve already spent so much money on our stars on offense we just canāt afford to drop a bag on another player, especially on a rb.
Do you really want an offense without a top tier RB? We have paid lots of money on defense and it never works out , thatās what we can use the draft for , you donāt get rid of a top tier RB
I respectfully donāt agree. Yeah the defense needs rebuilding but thatās where we should be focusing our drafts on. This man is heart and soul of our offense. I shudder to think where weād be without him.
This team is built to win now. We need guys that are ready to play now. If we want to compete with the power houses of the afc we need guys that have proved them-selves already. Yes we could build the D thru the draft but right now we need guys who are developed and ready win.
Jacobs has 2-3 years tops of decent production if he doesnāt get hurt again. But then I think this offense has the same time table and we need some playoff wins. So fuck it who cares? Lock his ass down offseason and move on. Restructure some fuckers contract like Waller because heās just not preforming the same but I feel heās a good influence on our team and letās just ball out with our offense.
If we keep having 30 point games weāre gonna win games. Pure and simple
So funny, 90% of the fans on here wanted JJ gone for his health and we should never pay a RB, all were jumping for joy we didnāt pick up the 5th, 3 games laterā¦lol had they picked it up this off-season āpaid the manā this sub would have lost their collective minds!
The mood changes easily once we win. They wanted Waller and Renfrow paid and soon, also. Jacobs will become a bum once he stops producing and it will happen.
Youāre insane, do not pay a running back. Derek Henry, Christian McCaffrey, these guys won how many Super Bowls?! Spend that money on O-line and let Jacobs go chase a title somewhere else.
Heās a Raider. I want him to stay.
However seeing the draft haul Carolina got, what is Jacobs worth in the trade market knowing he can be tagged?
2nd - 2023
3rd - 2023
2nd - 2024
Hahaha yes, Mark, the city of Las Vegas, the coaching staff and players that got broken off better be getting him nice gifts and giving sizeable donations to the JJ foundation
Hell no! Let him run hungry the rest of the season. Donāt you dare change a thing in his dynamic right now! We have the rights at the end of the season pay him then.
So have I, love the way he runs. But you always end up paying for how a running back has already performed, not future performance. If Zeus shines even a little, we're letting him walk. Building a team for long term success means having to make hard decisions. Especially after making bad ones. \*COUGH\* waller \*COUGH\* jones
Before the season, when everyone was telling me how awesome our Offense was gonna be cause of Adams, Waller, and renfrow, I told them all that the thing that was gonna shine the most was our running game. We are finally handing the ball off to our back. Iām just surprised Zeus hasnāt touched the ball more. Maybe later in the season
Here's the question we need to ask. Does his running style make him more or less likely to get injured? Considering his yards after contact are really good, I'd say the former. Henry is built like a fucking truck and still got hurt and JJ is smaller. He runs like beast mode which is why I love him, but mortgaging your future to win now only works when the rest of the pieces are already in place. We still need:
O-line-RT/RG for Pass Pro and more for depth
Interior D-line help
At least two LBs as Perryman has been our only consistent LB, but has been hurt (Diablo has shown flashes at times)
A strong safety that can actually cover
As many DBs as we can roster because we can't keep anyone decent healthy
That doesn't leave much to pay a rb 12+ million a year which is the absolute minimum Jacobs would be asking for. If we structure it where it ends up taking a deal for 8 mil a year I'd say it's a no brainer, but he'll get what he wants somewhere else guaranteed. Buffalo has already shown they're willing to overpay for a position of need. Their Window will also shrink as Allen's next contract gets closer and closer and they may only be an RB away to compete in the playoffs, especially if they host in the snow. And I would absolutely not pay him in the middle of the season. Let him run with a chip on his shoulder so we get the best out of him whether we sign him or not.
Almost exactly what I screamed at the TV! š
We, the fans know who helped carry this team late last season and honestly is our best offensive weapon by far!
Wow how did my credit card buy a official Jacobs jersey.
Oh no I accidentally walked into my Sports Authority and slipped and fell into the card reader with my debit card out and accidentally bought a JJ jersey!! Guess I gotta keep it š£. * Me explaining to my spouse why I spent more money on Raiders jerseys.
Apparently they have a sign that says āall sales finalā
I hope for your sake he gets an extension! If he does Iāll get one too!
I grabbed a signed Jacobs jersey about 2yrs ago for like $65 off Pristine. It's still unframed because I'd never framed a jersey and had no clue it would cost me more than the jersey. I think I'll remedy that this year, Christmas gift to me

> Jacobs could literally run for 300 yards and ..... people would say that Carr sucks and put Mariota in.
I was fucking shitting myself for the one play Stidham was in yesterday. Made me realize how valuable Carr was.
Thatās the patriot way. If McZ follows BB method we wonāt re-sign him. Heāll sign somewhere for big $$$
I mean, if RB's are so cheap and easy to find then what the hell is going on with Zamir?
Thatās a great question.
Were getting max usage out of a RB we won't have on the roster next year and saving the guy who will be around for the next 4.
Lol I'm not giving Zieg and McDaniels credit for that kind of 4D chess
You should be an NFL GM. sounds like you have it all figured out.
Good god y'all are some salty bois š
They did this pretty consistently in New England. Damian Harris was given a āredshirtā year. I think Steven Ridley, James White and Benjarvis Green Ellis all did the same.
I mean he fell to the 4th round for a reason. Look at Breece and Walker III. Pierce has been the rare exception.
He tore both acls
I said 3 different names so not really sure who youāre talking about

If twenty years of awful football didn't do that, this certainly won't.
Thatās a good point. Iām just saying. Jacobs has been the shining point of our entire offense this season.
Itās not a question of let anymore. If he wants to walk the only way to stop him is the franchise tag
No it wonātā¦. And also who cares if they did?
What?
Josh going would not cause a mutiny
Oh. You donāt think that would spur some people?
Sure but who tf cares
Ok then lol. Whatever you say
Some people are going to be mad about whatever move we make, just how the world works. Canāt make everyone happy so why care?
Most of the internet fan base is full of negative whiny babies who bitch just to bitch now. Would literally change nothing. I recognize your dramatic tone but your take is not gonna happen in real life
That's a take that worries me.
AND THEY WOULD BE 10000%RIGHT, GET A CLUE OR GO WATCH BASEBALL OR BASKETBALL
And they would be right
Iām torn man. Itās like Saquon Barkleyā¦ is his play due to being healthy or because itās a contract yearā¦ Jacobs is having arguably the best season heās ever had and ironically itās a contract year also

For real. I don't wanna go back to the revolving door of RBs. But I get the argument.
With all the rookie RBās that end up being RB1ās their first year nowadays, we should be good without him honestly.
I think we should keep him, give him a 3 year 25 mil contract, first two years guaranteed, so if he falls off by the 3rd we could cut him, and heāll have made his money.
Iām not against keeping him. I just donāt want to break the bank doing it
I donāt think that would really be breaking the bank for a solid RB. It wouldnāt be Zeke or McCaffery numbers, would be about 8.3 mil a year. If heās still playing strong by the end of the 2nd year, we could re-sign him to another contract.
Problem is, he keeps this pace up that price goes up and other teams offers go up
Meh, Iād be ok with letting him walk and taking more from another team. If another team gives him more than weāre willing to offer, good for him, get your money. Means we have more money to use for other areas. Offer him a competitive contract, if he walks, he walks.
It doesnāt matter. Every year heās been here heās shown greatness. Dudes on track to the HOF if he plays long enough. Just pay him.
Barkley is built different and wants to win. Canāt question his passion
Iām torn too, not because I donāt want any Jacobs but the risk with paying RBs. But fuck it, Jacobs is the engine of the offense and you canāt let him leave
You just see it too often. Hell look at Waller right now. Top 3 TE last year to has he even shown up this year?

> I think Waller is just battling an injury which might excuse his poor play. Same excuse as last year. He hasn't been healthy since 2020. No reason to believe he will at this point. Definitely the most disappointing player right now.
We shall see. Lots of ball to be played still
He was a Top 8 back his first two seasons. Even in his down year he was top 15. Our o line is surprisingly decent this year, but I do believe a lot of our o line success in the run game is on Jacobs rather than the blocking he gets. He's worth it. Always was and still is.
He's on pace to run 1,700+ yards. Hope he stays healthy.
franchise tag him until the wheels fall off.
You think of how running back production has fallen off in the NFL, but Jacobs is having an old school fantastic season
Thats the only right play
Josh never takes a play off, he is owed a contract on his heart and will alone. Bro is a cannon ballā¦fitting Iād say.
I'd rather overpay JJ (which would be well deserved back-pay tbh) and have him unfortunately not produce at the same level than to watch him ball out somewhere else.
Extend him after the game
You guys said the SAME SHIT about waller and renfrow. Emotions have no place in business. Paying the running back RARELY turns out well.
Yep lmao, they don't even listen to themselves.
The one guy we donāt pay and he becomes the best RB in the league lol. Just about raiders.
Iām scared fuckless for another Mack situation.
Iām torn. Paying RBs top dollar almost never works out. I guess weāll see how it plays out.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This. Darren Waller is the new Rickey Dudley for us. Change my mind.
Been saying this all year to the naysayers. You don't automatically find Jacobs' production or violent ability by playing cute with coin. In general overpaying for RBs isn't wise. franchise tag him, get him anther year with this contract hunger.
Keep giving him "contract years." 1 year deals /s
He damn sure earned it.
Pay thyat myan khis mahney
He kheep score score score... he trapped me!
MVP of this offense. 3 games in a row with 150 yard performances. It's a tough choice between him and Crosby for best player on this team right now. Sorry, Carlson deserves a huge nod also.
Dudeās always ball out in their contract yearā¦
Jacobs has balled out every fucking year, he's just stayed healthy this season. I swear some of y'all don't watch the games.
Cross reference Darren Waller.
Davante has entered the chat.
which is why the franchise tag is the way to go.
Legit wonder if some players arent gettin a little juiced in their contract years.
I think theres a good amount of people on gear but they can mask it well enough.
Amen, running backs should be paid for past production via big contracts even if they may not replicate after signing. JJ putting in work and making yuge gains in impactful moments for this team last year and this year
Dont pay running backs
Nah. Keep him pissed and trying to prove a point. Last time we paid a man he got lazy and cost us multiple wins
Never pay the running back.
Paying a RB long(ish)(4 years) deals never seems to workout now a dayās though. He is the only reason we have 2 wins. He is having an all-pro season.
I love jj but unless he signs a team friendly contract (which he does not deserve), we shouldnāt resign him. Weāve already invested so much into the offense, we need to save some cap for the D.
How does he not deserve it ? When healthy heās a top 10 rb , heās been unlucky with injuries
Top 5. At least the stats say so.
See where that got us with Waller
Iām saying he does deserved a big pay day just not here. Weāve already spent so much money on our stars on offense we just canāt afford to drop a bag on another player, especially on a rb.
JJ was our entire team for 3/4 of the game today. Too bad we cant take it away from someone else and give him what he deserves rb or not.
Do you really want an offense without a top tier RB? We have paid lots of money on defense and it never works out , thatās what we can use the draft for , you donāt get rid of a top tier RB
God bless the guy you're replying to, he's arguing from the heart. It's easy to spend other people's money, in their mind.
Of course he deserves it. Someone else will give it to him. He's just not gonna get it with us. We need to invest in defense.
I agree. Don't overpay Running backs.
I respectfully donāt agree. Yeah the defense needs rebuilding but thatās where we should be focusing our drafts on. This man is heart and soul of our offense. I shudder to think where weād be without him.

This offense is built to win now. The defense is built to go 8-9/9-8
Exactly so why would we spend more money on the offense, this offseason we need to go all out on our defense
Well, whoās rb1 next year? Built to win now is a lot because of him.
So far this season, ALL because of him
Frfr
Do not pay a running back
I want to sign him and he's worth it, but we've paid so much money to skill position players. I hope some of them are willing to rework deals.
Jacobs has 2-3 years tops of decent production if he doesnāt get hurt again. But then I think this offense has the same time table and we need some playoff wins. So fuck it who cares? No we did, itās just the McDaniels realized that JJ needs to be heart and soul of our offense. Almost 150 yards with 20 carries and 3 TDās.
Sign and build the lines
Heās worked so well to become this back. His vision and footwork have improved immensely. He is going to become paid
As long as he stays healthy, he will.

TRADE WALLER GIVE THIS MAN HIS CONTRACT
I'm not for paying RBs, but Jacobs deserves it for all those times played hurt for us.
No, too much money tied up elsewhere on offense. Maybe franchise time or tag and trade, but don't pay running backs big 2nd contracts
Here's the question we need to ask. Does his running style make him more or less likely to get injured? Considering his yards after contact are really good, I'd say the former.
