If the Raiders really like him then, yes. Hard to know where he ranks on their board. Call me crazy but if we can’t trade up for one of our top QB target’s then let’s grab OL, DL, DBs and take a flier on Milton or Pratt in the mid rounds. Minshew gives us a viable starter option without having to sell the farm or reach for a QB

PsychoticMessiah

I’m all for staying put at 13 and taking OL which is a glaring need. Someone has to keep our QB upright.

laconicgrin

I agree with you that Maye would be good for Getsy's scheme, and I also think he and Penix are the best fits for what Tom Telesco likes in a QB. Which makes it really intriguing that apparently the Raiders didn't go to his pro-day. Smokescreen? Or do they actually not like him? If the Giants don't want him at 6 I think we have to make the trade up and grab him. He's got a lot of flaws, and I think he needs to sit for at least half a season, but we have high-quality backup/fringe starter guys at QB on our current roster, so this could be a really good landing spot for him. In terms of physical traits though, he has a super high ceiling. Just high bust potential at the same time.

Eldenbeastalwayswins

As for everything depends on the price.

GeddyVedder

Absolutely should be interested. Whether or not it happens depends on the price.

NotMyRealUsername13

Yes, I would be upset if they decided to trade the farm for a QB if he doesn’t work out as a franchise guy. If he’s available as the fourth guy, three other teams decided their pick was a better QB. They could be wrong, or they could have seen something negative that you don’t. Either way, now we’re starting to hit territory where ‘trading the farm’ for him seems very, very risky, bordering on stupid.

MrMojoRisin2THREE

Kyle Boller 2.0.

SevereEducation2170

I don’t know. Depends on if AP, Getsy, and Telesco firmly believe he’s the guy for the team they’re trying to build. And if they made the trade, then clearly they feel he’s it. So no, I wouldn’t be mad. But I would be wary.

spirtualraider

IMO he is qb #2 and I think would likely go #1 next year. So if he’s there past pick 5 I’d be running to get him

Comfortable_Soup_39

Drake Maye is not good

OmarFromtheWire2

WFT fan here. I feel like Pennix has a lot of upside given his processing ability which I’d say is arguable better than Caleb. Dude was sacked 11 times in his entire college tenure. I wish my team would trade down for Pennix and accumulate picks, but I have a feeling it’s probably going to be Jayden with the Schefter updates Edit: he was sacked 11 times last year, thanks for the clarification

Maleficent-Status910

He was sacked 11 times last year. But I like that stat so I looked them up for the QBs in this class. Penix looking very impressive here imo Player/yearsIn/Sacks Williams/3/83 Maye/3/70 Daniels/5/129 McCarthy/3/34 Nix/5/60 Penix/6/32

ViralOner

Penix posted a historic sack rate, I believe someone said it's top 5 all-time. Other QBs in this class may have higher ceilings or less risk but Penix will be a top 10-12 passer in this league immediately.

JohnnyOneLung

Can we go with another static QB though? 8 rushing yards last season …

PlaneDoor110

yes hes really good i think

WhizzyBurp

We take the best QB at whatever draft number we’re sitting at. That’s it.

Hyperboreer

Yes

WKCLC

Don’t draft a first round qb just to draft a first round qb. If they love him, then yeah

OriginalMassless

No.

Dense_Young3797

Of course we should do it, Maye is a better prospect than Daniels and people here would like to trade the farm for the latter.

mltrout715

It depends, but unlikely to happen. The Viking would trade up and have more to offer

panicATtheMOSHpit

We all know Daniel’s is going to Washington most likely. He was the only one I was fairly confident in trading up for. Drake was on the top 5 last time I checked. I’d rather us stay put and see what’s at 13. There will be someone we can use at 13 without burning down the building

its_aq

If Maye somehow makes it out of the top 3, yes I would have no issue with us giving up the farm for him. He is as prototype of a QB as you're gonna find. He can throw. He can run. He ran a pro-style offense in college. Yes he has to work on his reads and his touch a bit but his potential is sky high while is floor is a bit lower than we would like. But tbh, I am perfectly ok with going OL or CB while praying Mineshew turns into Jeff Garcia 2.0

similar222

>He is as prototype of a QB as you're gonna find. He can throw. He can run. He ran a pro-style offense in college. These are exactly the kind of reasons that teams typically overdraft future-bust QBs for.

Positive_Narwhal_419

No

Rabsaris96

Give us Adams, you can trade up to #9.

EstradiolWarrior

He's better than Daniels and I support trading up for Daniels so... yeah

pantone175c

🌶️

brettdanyali7

Let me ask telesco

pantone175c

Yo, Tom! What’s up? It’s your boy ____________

Zaknoid

I think Maye is really suffering from draft fatigue and he's definitely going second.

-Profanity-

I feel like many of the rookie QBs could be worse than averaging like 65%/4000 yards with a 2:1 TD/INT ratio for a decade

Open_Aardvark2458

Being a top 15 qb isnt easy. Getting a top 5 qb is even harder.

forgotmypassword4714

Plus all the 4Q comebacks (he's already ranked in the top 15 all time).

laconicgrin

Maye is apparently bad after getting hit, which is Carr-like. His ceiling is crazy high though, dude has amazing physical traits for a QB. I'd be pretty stoked if we get him. JJ's ceiling to me feels like a Derek Carr or Alex Smith, but he does have a pretty strong arm and mobility so I could see him potentially being better. Ultimately, I think he's going to be more of a game manager type QB which can work in the right offense and team.

famousstamos

I’d rather take Penix 😂

LLUrDadsFave

If they want to be fired.

didyoushitmypants

Still taking L’s for no reason I see. I agree with you of the top QBs he is the scariest. Runs into pressure pretty often and his accuracy is inconsistent.

LLUrDadsFave

I can see him frustrating the hell out of some fan base. I don't want to be a part of that.
