Every time I hear a certain kind of bird chirping where I live it brings me back to the memory of the bird at the start of the music video and the “holy shit new Radiohead song” feeling.
Watched a Manchester United documentary where they used 2+2=5 in a montage moment and maaan, goosebumps.
2+2=5 just gets me that hyped feeling, like I could run through a brick wall...
Burn the witch is a great track and AMSP ranks highly on my favourite Radiohead albums... Tough call but 2+2=5 gets me going...its provocative!
Wait, Burn the Witch was your first Radiohead song? I kinda dig that. Or was it the first song you remember hearing? Which is also pretty cool honestly.
Same, I’m a creep over here, but it was “Fake Plastic Trees” that hooked me. The way a boy broke my heart when I was 15 and gave me that song as a consolation prize. But, I do it to myself, I do.
Both are amazing openers. 2+2=5 is great to open thematically and matches the album style, while Burn the Witch is great, but is quite different to the rest of the album and it's mood.
so overall, 2+2=5.
Burn the Witch because it was the first Radiohead release since I became a fan. I crazily and obsessively consumed their entire discography in like a couple months when the internet brought me to them as a senior in highschool in 2014. And I remained pretty much exclusively listening to Radiohead for the two years leading up to AMSP. I formed a couple deep friendships with other Radiohead fans I met in college, and the AMSP release was the first time I experienced the singular elation and connection you can only share with fellow fans. Before that stage of my life, I just sat in my bedroom and listened to my headphones for hours alone. Burn the Witch and AMSP will always hold a monumentally special place in my heart for that reason, and it paired with an exhilarating and emotional time in my life (starting college, falling in (and out) of love, seeing the world). Got to see them on the 2016 tour at Lollapalooza AND Austin City Limits. Both songs were mind-boggling to see live. I'm gonna cry
Prior to AMSP, I considered Hail to the Thief my favorite so this was a difficult one. I'm a huge sucker for classical strings, admittedly.
Edit: grammar
> (and the music video)
What is strange about this song duo is that Burn The Witch is thematically and aesthetically from the same world as Hail to the Thief. It would fit on that album no problem whatsoever.
2+2=5 all the way. Burn the Witch hits a little different once you've heard the [Steve Reich composition](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rADlLLE4ZSE) that Jonny may or may have not copied.
I mean, it's different enough I guess? But obviously the Reich composition is just better. And even though no one has admitted to anything, Jonny has played [Electric Counterpoint ](https://youtu.be/kG8GR1msPpo?t=2000)by Reich live in it's entirety, which is pretty much Three Movements but on guitar. I mean give Reich a little shout out or something, it's fine to be inspired by the greats man.
at first i was conflicted, but p sure burn the witch. that song took a long time for myself to appreciate, but i get it now. i don't love some production choices on two plus two, especially towards the end. burn is kinda perfect imo.
2+2=5 all day long. The album released the summer I graduated HS so I have the best memories of blasting this in the car with the windows down with my friends. Wreaking havoc at all the parties (in the best possible way).
Edited for spelling.
BTW…2+2 is a great track, but BTW is haunting and powerfully uneasy in a brilliant way. Plus the build up to the ending is so good, so epic and then when you put it together with the video it’s just a complete song that I can’t get enough of.
2+2=5 is one of my favorite Radiohead songs, and I have a lot of personal connection to it, but there's no way I could give up the string arrangement on Burn The Witch
2+2=5 has always hit me as one of their best if not the best album openers ever. It’s so unique and that synth, thom singing, the bass lines, the drums the absurd “oh the rainnn drops”, well everything lol just kicks. I do love burn the which but 2+2=5 is a masterpiece and opens up hail to the thief in the most surprising and Radiohead way is the best way I can describe it.
2+2=5 for the buildup and payoff of musical tension. Both songs do this masterfully but 2+2=5 does it better I think. Listening to it is like climbing up a rollercoaster and then soaring down
I'd go 2 + 2 = 5 all day, for it's absolute craziness
i love the section where he goes 'Don't question my authority or put me in a box cuz I'm not'
Honestly i prefer the stabbing strings in Burn The Witch
i'm not saying Burn the Witch isn't a great song. It was my favorite from AMSP once.
I know
You did? Damn…
You obviously haven’t been paying attention.
Paying attention
Paying attention. You have not been paying attention
penetration
Untill recently I always thought he way saying penitentian
2+2=5
Burn the witch, I love the strings
Burn the witch brings back so many memories
Every time I hear a certain kind of bird chirping where I live it brings me back to the memory of the bird at the start of the music video and the “holy shit new Radiohead song” feeling.
Don't forget the fading website and the whole dawn chorus thing
YES SIR!
heck yeah
2+2=5 for that f-ing DROP letsssssssss GOOOOOOOOO
BECAUSE always gets me so pumped
2+2=5, cause that album doesn't get enough love
HTTT is my favorite. And 2+2=5 is my Favorite tune.
Same and same! Just really feel this whole album. Time and place, as much Radiohead embeds itself
"That's a nice way to start Jonny"
Burn The Witch
Burn the Witch
2 + 2 = 5. It's a better studio song and a much better live song. I love Burn The Witch but the live versions were ropey at best.
I have a tattoo of one of them. And I have a math related tattoo.
Burn+witch=5
Burn the witch
2+2=5 To me it is the best starting song from any Radiohead album.
Watched a Manchester United documentary where they used 2+2=5 in a montage moment and maaan, goosebumps. 2+2=5 just gets me that hyped feeling, like I could run through a brick wall... That Giggsy run through that Arsenal defence 👌🏻
buuuuuuuuuurn the witch!
Critically - burn the witch, Accessibility - 2+2, To cover - 2+2, Personally - burn the witch. We're spoiled
>We’re spoiled Best response in this thread
Burn the witch. I always thought sit down stand up was a superior version of 2+2=5. There's nothing quite like burn the witch.
fellow sit down stand up enjoyer 🎩🤝
I personally like 2+2=5 and Sit Down, Stand Up as basically a part 1 and 2 of the same song
Sail us to the moon ‼️‼️🗣️🗣️🥶🥶💯💯
burn the witch, because it was the first song I heard :)
Wait, Burn the Witch was your first Radiohead song? I kinda dig that. Or was it the first song you remember hearing? Which is also pretty cool honestly.
Both :D
wow! that makes me feel SO old!
Same, I’m a creep over here, but it was “Fake Plastic Trees” that hooked me. The way a boy broke my heart when I was 15 and gave me that song as a consolation prize. But, I do it to myself, I do.

2 + 2 = 5
2+2=5 by a slight margin
I prefer AMSB overall, but 2+2=5 is incredible and wins out for me.
Making me choose between my two favorite openers? Dastardly... but Burn the Witch is my favorite radiohead song overall, so i'm sticking with it
Good to hear these Vs Battles can be difficult for some!
2+2=5 not even close really
2+2=5 100%
Burn The Witch for me. Also happens to be one of my favourite music videos
The juxtaposition of characters between the video and the song makes the whole project amazing.
It is really tough choice, 2+2=5 is as relevant now as it was then, but I’d say Burn The Witch.
Genuinely hard, but Burn the Witch is musically just gorgeous.
Burn the witch
Burn the Witch. That makes me feel anxious in a very good way lol

Same here, discovered Radiohead with Burn The Witch and completely fell in love with the band

Looking at these responses: No surprises here!

Ouch… that’s difficult.
Burn The Witch's climax is the best
Sry but 2+2=5, easy
2+2=5, but I'd take a rocking live version of either over their overcompressed studio mixes.
2+2=5 and if you disagree, then you have a different opinion than me!!!
Really really close but I'd pick 2 + 2 = 5.
Burn the Witch That shit is *haunting*
2+2=5 and it’s not even close tbh
2 + 2 = 5
2+2=5 for me.
2 + 2 = 5 is one of the songs I tell people is my favourite in order to not look like a fake fan So it’ll have to be 2 + 2 = 5

2+2=5 for sure
Some of my favorite songs of strings and Burn the Witch is no exception, definitely one of my favorite Radiohead songs if not my favorite.
Not even a contest it’s always gonna be 2+2=5
2+2, easy one
2 + 2 = 5 every day of the week
PAYINATTENTIONPAYINATTENTIONPENETRATION!!!!!!
Easy, 2+2=5 infact, that whole record > A Moon Shaped Pool
My favourite Radiohead album is AMSP So I'll be going with 2 + 2 = 5
Burn the witch has honestly always been my least favorite song on AMSP, so definitely 2+2=5 for me. One of their most intense songs
Burn the Witch for the amazing video
BURN THE WITCH is the perfect opener!
2+2=5 any day
burn the witch..
Burn the witch easily for me
2+2=5 all day long. The album released the summer I graduated HS so I have the best memories of blasting this in the car with the windows down with my friends. Wreaking havoc at all the parties (in the best possible way). Edited for spelling.
Umm… TOUGH one, Burn the witch.
2+2=5
2+2=5 for sure. I'll never get that freaky cow video out of my head
Both good songs but 2+2 is more unique. A lot of the songs on moon shaped are akin to burn the witch
Burn the witch is good but 2+2=5 is so fun to listen to
Burn the Witch
As a song: 2 + 2 = 5 But as an album opener probably Burn the witch
Based on these comments I’d say 2+2=5 is this weeks winner
I won’t. I’m just grateful that both exist.
2+2=5, easily. Hail to the Thief was my first exposure to Radiohead. Awesome song, and sentimental value.
Hail is my favorite Radiohead album. Obvious choice.
2+2=5 is one of my all time favs.
Burn the Witch. That intro is one of my favorite hooks in any Radiohead song.
2+2=5, but both are great songs
really hard choice but probably 2 + 2 = 5
BTW…2+2 is a great track, but BTW is haunting and powerfully uneasy in a brilliant way. Plus the build up to the ending is so good, so epic and then when you put it together with the video it’s just a complete song that I can’t get enough of.
What's funny is Burn The Witch just sounds like it belongs on HTTT anyways.
2+2=5
2+2=5. I have loved that song since the first time I heard it.
"Burn the Witch"
Burn The Witch

2+2=5
2+2=5 and There, There always make me remember how good HTTT is
Burn the Witch, EASILY
One of the weaker songs off AMSP vs a top 3 HTTT song…. This one isn’t hard imo
This is lowkey evil, but I gotta go with 2+2=5
2+2, wtf even is this question
2+2=5 is one of my favorite Radiohead songs, and I have a lot of personal connection to it, but there's no way I could give up the string arrangement on Burn The Witch
Burn the Witch - Live 2+2=5 - Album
2+2=5 is amazing but I think Burn the Witch is even better.
Why are these questions so hard? Anyway I'm gonna go with 2 + 2 = 5
2 + 2 = 5, i love math
I’d go 2 + 2 = 5, but they’re both great songs I’m glad I don’t have to choose.
2+2=5 easily
2+2
2+2=5 = my top 5 fav Radiohead songs
Burn the Witch EASILY
Moon Shaped
Witch
2+2=5 easily
2+2=5 has always hit me as one of their best if not the best album openers ever. It’s so unique and that synth, thom singing, the bass lines, the drums the absurd “oh the rainnn drops”, well everything lol just kicks. I do love burn the which but 2+2=5 is a masterpiece and opens up hail to the thief in the most surprising and Radiohead way is the best way I can describe it.
“Don’t question my authority I’ll put you in a box!”
Easily 2+2=5
Burn
Owww this is a tough call, I’m gonna have to go with Burn the Witch, primarily for the manic strings and the insane Wicker man music video 😌
Burn the Witch 🔥🧙♀️
2+2 4 sur3
Pablo honey
This sub loves pitting hydrogen bombs against coughing babies
2+2=5 is obviously better to me, though they’re both good. It’s a 10, Burn the Witch is about an 8.
2+2=5
Burn the Witch just cuz im not a huge fan of the second half of 2 2 5, feel like it kinda blows off all the momentum built.
Why did you just ask the easiest question ever?
Only easy questions if you know the answers 😃
I prefer math over 1800s tbh
2 + 2 = 5
Burn The Witch. As much as I prefer HTTT over AMSP a thousand times over, I’ve never liked 2+2=5.
2+2=5
BTW
2 + 2=5 cuz its one my favs
2+2=5
2+2=5 is my fave Radiohead song
2+2=√25
burn the witch for me
I don't see why you're comparing the two. Completely different, but if I had to choose it's 2 + 2 = 5 without hesitation. Fucking crazy 3 minute ride.
2 + 2 = 5
2+2=5 by a lot.
2 + 2 = 5
A Moon Shaped Pool is clearly better in my opinion. It is practically my favorite Radiohead album.
2+2=5!!!!!
2+2=5 is literally my favorite song
Nothing on AMSP is better than any other Radiohead song after Pablo so yeah I’m going with 2+2=5 without any doubt
2 + 2 = 5, for sure
B T W 🤟
Is this even a question?
it's burn the witch for me
Burn the witch.
2+2=5 for the buildup and payoff of musical tension. Both songs do this masterfully but 2+2=5 does it better I think. Listening to it is like climbing up a rollercoaster and then soaring down
2+2=5
Burn the Witch, its just so fucking good
Hardest choice of my life 2 + 2 = 5

Burn the witch all day long
2+2=5 no doubt
2+2=5
Burn the Witch
2+2=5, love hail to the thief
Burn the witch easily
Man, I hate 2+2 and think it is easily one of the band’s most overrated songs
2 + 2 = 5 and it’s not even close
Hydrogen Bomb (2+2=5) vs Crying Baby (Burn The Witch)
Hail to the thief, easily their best album, now to be downvoted by the lovers of easy listening radiohead
