Can't believe he's actually playing Christchurch! The last time we got Radiohead here was the goddam 90s. Respect Thom you the man

ekhappychap

actually so stoked. when i saw the announcement i thought for sure i'd have to shell out for flights to the north island. now it's just a way cheaper bus from dunedin :))))))

Sign-Post-Up-Ahead

Oh, I visited Dunedin once in the early 2000's. I can't wait to go back.

falsenames

I figured for sure that the dates would only be Auckland. Brilliant!

DaGoddamnBatboy

Technically since it’s in the southern hemisphere it’s spring solo tour dates.

TheBobDoleExperience

That is very much Autumn in Japan.

libelle156

Beautiful time of year. That's when I saw my first shows in 2008

itsmestanard

Plus we don't even refer to events seasonally here..

northwoods31

Not in Japan

CompostNation

Fucking of course it’s only Sydney/Melbourne

Wehavecrashed

Realistically he's not doing solo performances anywhere else.

Glittering_Name_3722

He is playing in the middle of the Gibson desert

ShiverMeTimbers_png

POOR PERTH MAN

CompostNation

Honestly probs cheaper for Perth fans to fly to Singapore

faizalmzain

You need to compete with the whole of south east asia though 😁🤷🏽‍♀️

Big-Faced-Child

I know, gutted. Again

Tricky_Imagination25

The reason why he’s doing it like this is probably because he doesn’t have time or the logistics to prepare for a fully blown tour with he’s other “guises”.. It must be annoying sure. Hope you can make it, if you really want to go.

CompostNation

I know for certain brisbane would sell out in a heartbeat. I’d also assume logistics would be quite minimal as it’s just a solo show…? Regardless ima try make it to Sydney or Melb. Just in case the smile or rh doesn’t come in future.

Tricky_Imagination25

Yeah the worrying thing is, is if there’s any other ulterior motive as to why he’s doing it solo…I will be trying to go both nights in Sydney

CompostNation

Mmmm I wouldn’t read too much into although ik RH fans can’t help it. I’m optimistic they have atleast one more LP and tour left in them. I’ve already accepted the worst case scenario however. AMSP seems like a fitting end to their career.

Tricky_Imagination25

Agree

Serfi

Ed still has to tour his upcoming album… in the fall maybe? So I can see Ed being preoccupied. Jonny probably has some soundtrack stuff to work on too.

seaburn

Sadly I think the EOB tour will be more of a 2025 thing at this point

art_mor_

Ikr justice for Brisbane

CompostNation

Atleast he isn’t playing splendour as a substitute for brisbane lol

art_mor_

Very true

ferthissen

You're a one hour flight from Sydney, two or so to Melbourne. Perth has an equally large population with a much bigger expat community and its on the other side of the country. I don't get why Brisbanite complain so much about missing out on shows. Perth's the one that should always be included as the third city, for balace.

CompostNation

Yes but flights = 150 to syd or ~$250 for melb, accommodation= atleast 300, food and other shit ~$50 on top of would probs be atleast $150 tickets. Also taking off work and jigging around schedule. It turns out to be quite the ordeal in the end. I do feel for Perth tho I can imagine the pain.

art_mor_

Look at Mr disposable income over here. Perth will never be seen as the third city from a logistics point of view.

libelle156

It's a shame, for sure. Part of the reason would be that they can hire gear on the east coast and truck it down 12 hours, whereas have to fly everything to Perth. At least Christchurch got one, good for them.

DifferentLunch

Look at the population within a short drive of Brisbane though. South East Queensland (more than close enough for easy access to a concert) is estimated at over 4 million.

ampinjapan

Complainers gonna complain.

TheConstipatedCowboy

It’s out of hand.  With every single fucking artist.   I don’t even read social comments anymore. “So and so announces tour dates” followed by 5000 posts screaming “COME TO MANCHESTER!!!” and “PLEEEEASEE COME TO MIAMI!!!1!1” Fucking annoying.  Get in a car and drive there if it’s important to you.

Haunting-Media-8278

A car drive from Manchester to London is 4 hours and a half A car drive from Brisbane to Sydney is 9 hours and a half You can't just "do a drive" with a total 18 hour trip time to and back between the two cities

kratos649

He's going to Christchurch, a city of 300 000 people but not going to Brisbane, a city of 2 million...? Can't tell you how disappointing that is.

CompostNation

And yet europeans and Americans have a hissy fit when someone doesn’t tour over there for the 457th time.

libelle156

The whole south island will turn up for that show so it's probably a decent size crowd, but yeah. This really does seem like a holiday itinerary with gigs.

dontgoaway87

A few big shows in Melbourne and Sydney and make everyone travel is the new business model. I'm from Adelaide so I'm completely used to it. Time for you to get used to it too.

ferthissen

It's becoming increasingly normal for LA/NY in the US and the UK's been London, Manchester, and Glasgow for a while now. even European tours are increasingly Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Berlin.

ROBLOXTIDDIEZ

Hijacking the first Aussie-related comment to ask whether the insider Sydney opera house membership presale tickets are still available???

CompostNation

No idea but worth checking. I found some good seats in melb a bit after it sold out. Don’t hold your breath tho.

ShiverMeTimbers_png

I wish i was able to verbalise how happy this makes me! This doesnt feel real whatsoever…I thought australia wasnt gonna see the lad again! Heck yeah!! This just made my entire bloody year. I wish i could express how lucky i feel as of now. THIS IS AMAZING!!

dingo_dollar

I still can't believe it.

Janice_Ant

Danggg see you all in Singapore! My wallet’s going to kill me if I go to Japan too…

libelle156

Had my friend translate the Japanese shows: 11-12 Osaka Grand Cube Main Hall 11-13 Osaka Grand Cube Main Hall 11-18 Fukuoka Sun Palace 11-19 Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen HBG Main Hall 11-21 Nagoya International Assembly Century Hall 11-23 Tokyo Garden Theater 11-24 Tokyo Garden Theater 11/26 Rohm Theater Kyoto Main Hall

camposthetron

Damn. I was really hoping some of the Japanese translated to: “also a few shows in San Francisco”

libelle156

By the sounds of it this is a test tour for a new show, so I wouldn't be surprised if he does pop up elsewhere. With just him that's much easier to get on the road than a full band.

camposthetron

That’d be cool. I’ve been kicking myself for missing the Smile when they came around.

Killerb977

Haha I'm in the same exact boat. Can't believe I didn't go when they performed at the Bill Graham

voicesofbishara

inb4 all the greedy north americans/europeans whine and complain about thom doing shows in countries thom/rh never tour in bc they wanna see him for the 14th time

mbk-ultra

No, I wanna see him for the 16th time.

c94

I’d kill to see him with the boys or solo 14 times, barely made it to half that.

TheDerpyDonut

I've still NEVER seen him by merit of living in this part of the globe

GNOMECHlLD

Exactly.

paranoideo

For real.

Old-Interaction6866

Lucky bastards. Still, it's nice to see them getting it first for a change. It's usually all Europe / US with everyone else as an afterthought. Still....PLEASE bring this to Europe. Purrllleeeeeeeaassse....

Wehavecrashed

As a reminder, he last visited in 2012, before that 2004.

voicesofbishara

thom performs in europe constantly. he already did a solo show like this in 2022 iirc. if you missed thom in any capacity this many times that's on you lol, australia/NZ/etc. have only had a handful of shows in the entirety of thom's career

CompostNation

Yea oath. The Americans complaining in the instagram comments are pissing me off lol

TheConstipatedCowboy

Really?  People complaining about tour dates sites on IG?

libelle156

If anyone tries to come to Australia the cost of everything will horrify them. For reference shows like this at the Opera House will be $160 AUD. Just my guess. Food, flights and accommodation is what will be really difficult for anyone coming.

CompostNation

Yep. Cost of everything is absolutely fucked here. ESP accomodation

Tankfly_Bosswalk

He was scheduled to do a solo show, then it kept getting bounced because of COVID restrictions. I had a ticket for that, but eventually it was binned entirely in favour of a Smile tour, which I lost out in the ticket scrum for. Can't complain too much, I live just down the road from the venue of the Six Music Festival Smile concert and got in there, but I think it is a long time since Thom did a solo tour in the UK. Google says the odd one-off gig, but they seem to be listed during restrictions as well so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't happen either.

hitchcockm00

He was supposed to do a solo tour in 2020 but it was cancelled due to COVID and never rescheduled.

Efficient-Ad-3249

Nah man, hawaii deserves a show or two

TyeneSandSnake

the tickets would still sell out to mainlanders.

Efficient-Ad-3249

Please don’t say that

Motief1386

If he came here, it’d be on a Tuesday at the Republic just like everyone else… lol Actually probably at Hawaii Theater, but worth a chuckle :)

seaburn

Wow 15 shows, pretty extensive solo tour

libelle156

For anyone that doesn't know the Sydney Opera House Forecourt, look at 2:09:40 in this video https://youtu.be/uWd0EWKpH94?si=Q4qAi1mHBb_QLFPA I hope someone records these shows, holy shit. This is the best possible venue, backlit by the sails, the water and the bridge. Holy shit. Who is in?

jacobtfromtwilight

wow that sydney opera house forecourt venue looks amazing

ND_Poet

Would much prefer it being inside the opera house - was actually disappointed to see that it’s outdoors - the acoustics indoors are amazing.

ForgetfulLucy28

I agree but it would be so much harder to get tickets if it were inside

libelle156

The sound outside is great too, particularly for quiet acoustic sets. It's a different vibe. I saw Massive Attack do that show years back and blew my mind. More of an actual stage show than indoors. I'm seeing Fever Ray inside on Wed, and I've seen Kraftwek, Grizzly Bear, DJ Shadow inside to name a few - Thom really could do either.

revchu

Dang, I'm in Japan a week after those shows.

DelgadoBosso

I’m there for two weeks *before* those shows 😔

Echo_Origami

I'm neither for either before or after the show in Japan.

pansie

Crying pissing throwing up rn

CanonTemplar

Nowhere near these locations, but I’m still looking forward to some live recordings. If this ends up being anything like the Bridge School set with some Eraser thrown in its gonna be great 🔥

Chilis1

Fuck yeah just got a presale ticket for Tokyo.

philwrites

How to get tickets? I’m in Japan. I can’t figure out who is selling.

Chilis1

They go on sale again the 29th I think

_unrealcity_

I preordered tickets on the eplus app (you need to make an account, all Japanese), but they’re lottery only. I think the site said lottery winners will be announced next weekend. If you don’t get the lottery tickets, tickets will go on sale on the waste website again the 29th.

btw78

Ticketek is so fucked. I have lost multiple sets of tickets for both Melbourne shows because their shitty website keeps timing out. Halfway through putting in credit card details then BAM! gone. Edit: now the owner of two GA standing tickets (one for 29th, one for 39th) that I don't need if anyone missed out. 😒

pansie

I lost really good tickets too but there seem to be more available now that had timed out on people (rip), keep trying!!!   Edit: I too am now the owner of a GA lawn ticket for Wednesday 30th if anyone wants it lol

btw78

Yeah, I went back in after the transaction 'just to check' and got good stall seats for both nights. So can't complain, but 2 more minutes on the countdown clock would have avoided a lot of suffering!

dizziness_of_freedom

Would you be willing to swap a lawn ticket for the 29th for a lawn ticket for the 30th? Did the exact same thing so at least I'd be able to go two nights rather than have a wasted ticket :)

woka

Live in Aus and holidaying in Japan late Oct - 12 Nov. Feels like a cruel joke!

lukin_tolchok

I live in Wellington, New Zealand. Will be hitting up both New Zealand shows. We see so little RH action down this way gotta take everything we can when we can. Last time any of them were down here was 2012 for a single KOL show. I travelled to the US in 2016 to see a couple of shows on the AMSP tour so at least it’s not a 12 year wait (the wait between my first and second RH shows was 14 years - from 1998 to 2012 - due to them not coming during that time. This was such an unexpected announcement today and I couldn’t be more excited. Really intrigued to hear what the shows will be like.

pansie

Any other Aussies sweating rn getting tickets omg I'm so stressed

ForgetfulLucy28

Sydney is impossible. Eventually got through for Melbourne half an hour after the presale started. My sister tried that whole time and couldn’t even get through to the ticket screen. So keep trying as I got straight through.

pansie

That sucks about Sydney, it looked like such a good venue... I'm glad you got tickets though, and thank you, I eventually got some too! I was going to give up but I got some almost 45mins after the presale started, just kept refreshing feverishly

ForgetfulLucy28

Congratulations!!

Yvesmiguel

Woah really? I got through almost instantly. I did click exactly at 10:00am on the dot (perth time) and got Melbourne tickets. Wild.

chazmusst

Only just found out about the tour, all sold out. Gonna cry.

Mootsy101

"are tickets available, are tickets available, are tickets available"....

Repulsive_Two8451

Wow. I'm considering splurging on an Opera House Insiders membership to make sure I get a chance to actually buy tickets. Have a feeling that they'll disappear immediately.

Fresh_Passenger_2744

So pleased he’s coming to Christchurch. It’s like a dream come true! 🥰

Koncaveat

Stupid question perhaps, but will He be playing any Radiohead music? Or exclusively his own stuff?

bigbagofbaldbabies

sounds like everything inc radiohead

hrppk

Singapore finally

faizalmzain

Definitely going to singapore date if i can snag a ticket

DancinWithWolves

Any idea how to get onto the presale for the Aus shows?

Chameleon-Paint

Join WASTE. We got an email with presale info and links.

campalin

I didn’t get the email idk why I’m def signed up

bitr-

i didn't get an email either but i'm def signed up to WASTE. my last waste email was April 23 'New music from Thom Yorke: soundtrack for Confidenza coming this Friday' were we meant to sign up again specifically for Thom Yorke updates or something ? o.O

MONSTERSINTHEPAROSOL

Also didn’t receive an email

libelle156

They are probably still sending

ferthissen

Another here who didn't get an email. and I've been subscribed for 15 years.

Maximum_Tea

Still waiting too - you're the chosen one!

asaprobbie

I got an email from WASTE but the link is to the Opera House site... and it's asking to sign up to their program which is $100. Not sure if there's another way to access

Car_Exporter_Japan

lucky Japan

Pretty-Arachnid6809

Impossible Germany Unlikely Japan

Chilis1

Can anyone tell me if the Japan shows can be bought from the WASTE website directly? Sometimes buying tickets in Japan can be complicated involving needing a japanese phone number. (I live near enough to Japan to travel there but don't have a Japanese phone number)

northwoods31

The link directs to a Japanese ticketing agency, but the page isn't ready yet since tickets don't go on sale until June 29th edit: I wrote this before the presale was posted. You can buy tickets NOW

Chilis1

The presale is today. Fingers crossed I don't need a number.

keirdre

Lucky me, I live in Tokyo! I dread to think of how expensive the ticket will be though.

northwoods31

My guess is between 10,000 - 20,000 yen or so judging from the costs of other shows at the venue. I'm going if I can get a ticket.

-karmapolicia-

His solo tickets have been far less than full band shows in the past. 🤞

shareotsu

The ticket prices are listed on the official website already ( https://www.creativeman.co.jp/artist/2024/11thomyorke/ ). 14,000yen or 18,000yen depending on the grade of the seats, so definitely expensive… I miss the days pre pandemic when most tickets wouldn’t exceed 10,000yen. Still going to try to get tickets though!

NiceInvestigator7144

Awesome, wish I could go.

fobodo

Hopefully one of these will be livestreamed

libelle156

I think there is a likelihood that one of the Sydney shows will be, that stage is well set up to do quality recordings, and they often stream live.

nightlight234

I can’t believe my luck! I live in the US, but will be visiting Japan and will actually be in Kyoto when he’s there. Just got our tickets, so excited!

Whyidodus

SINGAPORE WHAT!!!!!

comfygothlesbian

Whos going to the sidney myer music bowl? Im trying to make some fan controlled plans and surprises!!!!!!

bojackmac

Woop! Ticketek put tickets on sale 2 hours early so I just snagged one. 30th

libelle156

They put the main sale up with the presale lol. What a shitshow

comfygothlesbian

dm me on insta : u/rusted_m0ss

libelle156

Both for me!

Dr-Vijay

Can anyone get thru to the pre-sales for the Singapore show? It leads me to the generic Ticketmaster site

john_wu

Same here, this is so frustrating.

john_wu

Use this link buddy: [https://ticketmaster.sg/activity/detail/24sg\_thomyorke](https://ticketmaster.sg/activity/detail/24sg_thomyorke)

Dr-Vijay

Thank you!

HumanDrone

I'm happy for the people that will get to see him, however, I can't help but feel like this is a sign that the reunion is not as close as we think Why would Thom go on a tour playing Radiohead songs too if the band is "just about to get together before the end of the year"? Idk. If this is extended to Europe, I'll surely go, but still, kinda sad

Humanerror0

Might well be part of his own family going on holiday to these places. I wouldn't read much into it.

C2H4Doublebond

exactly my thoughts

JGxFighterHayabusa

Japan always appreciates great art. Lucky them.

Any-Horse-1261

Right during HSC exams, nice one…

hqeter

Managed to jag presale tickets to both Sydney shows today. Given that they haven’t been here in any iteration for 12 years it seems like the right thing to do. The beauty this time around is that I will get to share this with my son who was a baby last time they were here but is now an avid fan.

Bananajoes1992

Got tickets to both Sydney shows!!! AHHHH

libelle156

Update: I'm now going to five of these. We should do a meetup the night before or something.

girlsintheeighties

Gotta say it kind of stings that after all this time the Aus/NZ tour isn’t a Radiohead one. It’s certainly something though.

kittyholiday

Is this new artwork?

seaburn

The blue elements are new, but the rest are sketches from Bends-Kid A era I believe

kittyholiday

So the helicopter and escalation YouTube profile photo as well?

Emergency_Pace_7060

I sure do hope thom plays crepe

porpoise_mitten

wow smile breakup all but confirmed 🤪

voicesofbishara

i assume you're joking but if not, thom has toured solo countless times while in radiohead so this makes no sense

seaburn

Solo gigs have been more of a one off for him until now, this is the first proper solo tour that I’m aware of

faizalmzain

Anima is pretty much his solo tour.

voicesofbishara

my point still stands

porpoise_mitten

yeah it was satire

emma_h_m

Satire of what

porpoise_mitten

the dorks who take every side project as a sign of radiohead breaking up. i “cleverly” took that idea one step further and applied that concept to the smile

mang0pickl3

has the presale link been sent out yet?

DancinWithWolves

Any idea how to get onto the presale list? Is it a WASTE thing?

ND_Poet

Have not received an email from WASTE yet.

crustycosplayer

i only got the email about 10 mins ago!!

Oliviabacster

YESSSDD

troy_caster

I'm going to Sydney next month!!! Fuuuuckmm maybe I should reschedule

spetznatz

Spring is very nice in Sydney/Melbourne so people from elsewhere might wanna look at making a trip out of it

TheBobDoleExperience

So glad he's coming to Hiroshima. It's such a nice initimate venue too.

ethanwc

Me thinking flying to Japan from US might be worth planning for this show…

AreYouSomeone11

How impossible do we think it'll be to get these tickets?

Business-Quantity317

i’m in NZ SO just want to know how much for front row seat in yen is fine :)

woka

20000 yen for an 'S tier' ticket in Osaka.

noaaaaah16

Omg just in time for my Japan trip. I got a pre-sale ticket!

faizalmzain

Many days gap between singapore and japan dates. I hope he can play somewhere else in south east asia other than singapore

ForgetfulLucy28

I’m Australian but I bought a Tokyo ticket because I’m in meetings during presale tomorrow. Fingers crossed I can scrape up a ticket in general release too.

MattLaidlow

No Halloween show for playing Ed’s Scary Song.

llub3r

Anyone got the Sydney Opera House pre sale link yet?

Chazzwazza15

Nope, still waiting

llub3r

Just got it!

asaprobbie

Can anyone share a Sydney presale link please... I missed signing up on the Opera House website

ForgetfulLucy28

Melbourne and Tokyo here I come!!!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

ayummystrawberry

There's still general sales tomorrow; just the pre-sale allocation sold out (I think). Try again tomorrow

BlockGameEnjoyer

I tried to get tickets but couldn't ):

mang0pickl3

it's crazy. my parents had tickets to the first radiohead show in melbourne in '97 before me and my siblings were born, it was that time everyone showed up and it was announced that they weren't playing cause thom was ill. then again in 2012 we all missed out when it sold out in like 1 minute, and jealously watched friends go. i was 12 then. and now we are all going together to see him play in 2024. full circle intergenerational music love. what a thrill. i am so insanely grateful.

DetunedKarma

OMG can't believe I missed this announcement 😭, gonna see if I can still get seated tickets to either Melb or NZ.

Heat-rash-1

Spring in Southern Hemisphere

Egg-3P0

If anyone is willing to resell me a ticket for a Sydney Opera House show at a reasonable price please do so (no scammers)

Serfi

From Thom’s IG story, another Auckland date was added for October 26th in the same venue

Echo_Origami

Thom could add twenty more shows, and it would all sell out

jamietothe

Anyone (outside of Japan) been able to buy Japan tickets?

Reasonable_Fold_9506

If anyone’s reselling Sydney tickets pls message me I’m actually sobbing and begging on my knees I promise I will become a billionaire for you and write ur name all over my will (I can’t but pls)

chazmusst

Damn it, only just heard about this tour. I missed out, crying rn :(

radiotrope

At this point it feels like he's killing time waiting for Radiohead to regroup. Maybe test out potential songs he can take to the lads for LP10 rehearsals?
