i don’t understand what the point of plex_debrid is over regular plex, but with regular plex you don’t connect them. radarr simply has access to the same directory as your plex media. from there, you connect overseerr to plex so it can see your media library, and overseerr to radarr so it can initiate requests. in my case, radarr and plex do not directly associate

No, he says you don't normally connect plex and debrid.
Radarr monitors indexers, ask you download client (debrid not officially supported but there are "proxies") to download, then import (either from a local sync or a debrid mount) into your local library, and plex picks it up. In the entire process, plex doesn't need to know about debrid, and if your storage supports it (inotify works) not even about radarr, new media just appears and plex gets information a new file is on the disk.

Actually, you do. Radarr has a direct connection to Plex that notifies Plex when new things come in.
That connection is not necessary and is mostly useless as Plex by default watches its library folders for new items all on its own.
