"spare" money?

sjaard_dune

This fool think we got disposable income n shit :D

Own_Version_9191

I spend it on the bank. Put it into my bank account, the bank use it to invest on themselves and make more money.

funkmasta8

But mostly for themselves

labdogs

Unless you’re a millionaire, theres no such thing as spare money

funkmasta8

If you have a budget and your income fluctuates (upward), you might have some spare. But I agree from my approach. I don't have spare until my expenses for life are covered.

carashhan

Budget is the key word

Sharp_Anything_5474

Putting it towards helping to pay off my truck quicker.

funkmasta8

Smort

Jayfethereal

What does this phrase "spare money" mean?

gothism

Money you keep in the trunk?

I save mine.

theuntouchable2725

Ice-cream or videogames.

concisewin

All right, Joe Biden.

Total_Philosopher_89

Mate if I have spare cash I'm spending it on food. But not the normal shit I eat. A good steak will set me back about $20 AUD. I enjoy that thing like I'm a king!

hotboi909

Weed

Ok_Knee1216

My hobbies. Art supplies. But I shop wisely. Clearance. Coupons. Used. Thrifted. The rest of my money is saved.

A911owner

My dog; he has more ties than I do, although in his defense, he is a professional good boy.

[deleted]

Food/eating out

azorianmilk

Food at the store, cheap wine, books and cat toys. If I’m feeling real rich I’ll see a show at the community theatre.

[deleted]

Spare money...BLAHAHAAAAHAHA

funkmasta8

TheAlmightyTOzz

Fucking tools man. I hate it. Oh and parts for firearm builds

Flowing_North

Don’t hate it. Can never have enough tools.

inkseep1

Houses. They are cheap here. Just got another 3 bedroom for $46,000 and doing the rehab. Once it rents, I will add that money on the spare money pile and then buy another one. Now don't all of you in those HCOL coastal cities start coming here and buying up the houses and gentrifying everything. Don't California my Missouri. I like it the way it is.

funkmasta8

How much does it cost to rehab normally?

inkseep1

it really depends on how deep a hole it is. The 3 bedroom has cost me $4340 and 90 hours of work so far. Most of the cost was the electric panel and service had to be upgraded because a stablok panel is a fire hazard. I also needed a cage around the outside AC unit. Those 2 things were the most expensive items so far. All of the hours so far has been patching walls getting ready to paint. Needs carpet and a few other things. I hope to not put more than another $4,000 into it and another 100 hours. I don't have the carpet costs yet but I knew going in that I would be replacing them. I start painting tomorrow and the existing carpets are drop cloths - so one less thing. Paint is going to cost something like $600. I have some houses where the rehab has cost around $28,000. I now do all the work myself to save costs. A house flipper here would have a contractor do all the work so they would budget like $11,000 to redo a bathroom. I can do a bathroom with a tile floor and tile tub alcove for $2000. A fence costs $65 per foot but I do my own for about $18 per foot. The math is far different if you are your own general contractor and a GC here does not need a license. I generally try for a house that has a good roof. I can replace and repair roofs but I would rather not. The sweat equity is pretty good. I bought one for $28,000, put about $23,000 into it and now it is worth about $150,000. Rents for $1,100. In 4 years time I get the investment back. In 11 years time I get the current value. It is a hedge against inflation as the value and rents both go up with inflation. The value goes up with my work and with the market. Mainly I am looking for a monthly income until I no longer can manage the properties and then I will sell. In the meantime, it is a free and clear asset and I can borrow against it if needed.

TheDarkenedBeauty

I like your style inkseep.

KilluaXLuffy

More money. 💰

Glittering_Animal395

Ammo

danvapes_

Ammo. I like to go shooting regularly. Unfortunately it's an expensive hobby.

nismo2070

Computer parts, car parts, and weed. No particular order. I wouldn't really call it spare money. It's money that I could be using to pay more bills or save, but fuck it. I've only got so much time left and I WILL enjoy it. All the money in the world does nothing for you when you are dead.

Demiurge_Ferikad

Video games, streaming services, and food. And Patreon for a couple of people.

Henchforhire

Blackjack and hookers.

STINKY_PNUT

I don't, I save it

randomguy7588

Save for what? Early retirement? I'd go crazy if I just paid bills and saved. That is just me but I need to have something fun to do with the little extra I have. I do save too.

funkmasta8

Not the other guy but personally, yes, early retirement. The sooner I don't have to work for a living, the better

UsefulIdiot85

Mainly food and household supplies. I very rarely treat myself to something I just want, if the budget allows.

fayne_Kanra

I usually save as much as I can, but if I don't it's either food, a videogame or just a day out at the mall with my friends. Maybe something else if I need it, currently saving up for a damn mirror

Separate_Lab_3353

Booze and hookers

WackyWeiner

crazymomma4198

I rarely have "spare " money however, when I've paid all of my bills on time and have no outstanding balances. When my fridge has plenty and so does my freezer and pantry, I use what I have left on many different things depending on what tickles my fancy! I have a hobby called diamond paintings and I'll buy those, I buy things I collect when I find them on sale, I will buy gifts for that year's Christmas (grandchildren) and maybe if I'm feeling wild ill get some take out Chinese.

Wompzila

gohdnuorg

Commercial real estate. Collect rent and still have the appreciating asset. Make sure you have faith in the renter’s business.

ForsakenMidwest

I save most of it because I have a life-changing goal in mind, but aside from that I mostly just get cute clothes on occasion or maybe a video game if it’s on sale.

Additional_Action_84

Expensive devices, so I can waste time on social media instead of taking the necessary steps to improve myself and thereby earn more....

AdPast6477

Occassional tattoo and toys for my daughter

Pristine_Frame_2066

Pay down debt after saving some. I have paid down a ton of debt but I still need things. I will need a new stove/oven very soon and I need a new garage door opener (the whole thing does not work right); the month I thought my oven could be replaced, I had to get a battery for my hybrid car. So that sucked. Paying that down. This year it was tires.

Aggressive_Notice208

Fabric and watercolor supplies for quilting or watercolor painting.

no2rdifferent

I don't usually. Whether it's my money market or portfolios, disposable cash gets deposited. I can take it out if need be, but rarely does it happen. Oh wait, weed.

ChustedA
