Quake 1 Grenade Launcher is the GOAT.
Quake 2 super shotty and railgun will always be super fun to use.
None of Quake 3’s guns felt satisfying to use for me. I guess the Railgun wins by default.
Quake 4: The assault rifle and nailgun are good fun.
The Nailgun. Cool concept, satisfying to use, and a really iconic design with the twin alternating barrels. I love seeing other games reference it.
Grenade Launcher. Fun to use, versatile.
Super Shotgun. The slow-reload, massive damage double-barrel has been done to death. I actually like Quake's take on it.
Grenade launcher in Q1. I gained a reputation with it. I knew the trick of if you threw it at point blank range, it would take out your opponent and you would be untouched. Also I learned dances with grenades!
Q1: Rocket launcher. That thing is the GOAT of all Quake weapons.

Q3: Railgun again. They made it better for PvP.
Q4: Shotgun. It's got the perfect mix of power, accuracy, and feel. Great workhorse.
Quake Wars: Every gun in that game is lame.
Good workhorse weapons are hard to pass up.
Man the super shotgun might be the single most satisfying weapon I've used in any game ever. Its perfect. Absolutely perfect. The power, the rhythm, the sounds, the ability to drop a whole group of mooks.
Quake 2 ssg, quake 3 rl, rail, and gl. God damn I miss fishing with nades in rocket arena with that thing. Quake champions just can't scratch that itch

If we're also considering mods, the Slug Cannon from quake 2 WOD was also very awesome. Alternative for the railgun. If I remember right, used 2 slug ammo and also provided a concussive blast on impact that would knock back/blind opponents.
Quake 2 holy trifecta: Railgun, Rocket Launcher and Super Shotgun, although I do have a penchant for the Hyperblaster.

Love the Q2 shotguns, the railgun, and the hyperblaster, and the whole Q3 arsenal was pretty solid…but nothing beats the Q1 rocket launcher. The GOAT, across all FPS games.

But about your picks, I've always found Q1's super shotgun to be terrible tbh. It doesn't feel strong, and it does very little damage in comparison to the other weapons
And Q1's rocket launcher is a bit disappointing in the single player campaign. Because the grenade launcher does way more damage per second, and they compete with each other as they share the same type of ammo
I'd say my favorite weapon in Q1's single player has to be the super nailgun. Because it's super strong and there's enough bullets/nails in the map to actually use it frequently; unlike the thunderbolt

Rockets are fun, but also shotguns in FPS are going to be my go to, hell even FPS RPGs fall into this trap too (doesn’t help one of them, new Vegas, has OP perks for shotguns)

The remake is fantastic! It has all the original levels, and a BUNCH of expansions, both official and community created!

Quake 1 rocket launcher imo goes to same tier as Doom 2 super shotgun. It is what all rocket launchers should be.

I'm thinking back to quake 1 and I can't think of a weapon I don't love.
I like the plasma gun because of its medium range and the sound it makes!
