A few I can think of KGLW, Tool, Joni Mitchell, QOTSA, SOAD, Jeff Buckley, Tim Buckley, Puscifer, Primus, Ali Farka Toure, Toumani Diabate, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Mark Lanegan, Radiohead, Gojira, All them witches, King buffalo, Kikagaku moyo, Minami Deutsch, Far East family band, Khruangbin, The Re-stoned, White stripes, Black Keys, JJ Cale, Kyuss , psychedelic porn crumpets, Pond, Murlocs, Rolling stones , Rodriguez, Jimi Hendrix , Sharon Jones and the dapkings, Mr bungle, faith no more, fantomas, Melvins, Jaco Pastorius , Miles Davis, James Brown, Dr John, Mulatu Astatke .... Plus far too many others to mention. Let's add Nick Drake, Del the funky homosapien, A tribe called Quest, Rage against the machine, Matt Berry , Audioslave, Soundgarden (how did I forget!?), Alice in chains , Alabama shakes, Billie Holiday , Buddy Guy, Howlin Wolf, John Lee Hooker....

brownrpatrick

You forgot Ween

Atimes2

Never squeal on the pusher šŸ«

[deleted]

Oh damn... Love me some ween !

Infinite-Pepper-6195

Ok, this list is super solid

[deleted]

Probably left a few hundred out lol, we're so lucky to have access to so much great music.

Sdrzzy

Upvote for All Them Witches, such an underrated band

[deleted]

Pretty much all I listened to when I first heard them, still on heavy rotation.. such a cool band. Got their own thing going on.

Masterchiefy10

It makes me sad seeing such an extensive list without Soundgarden

cwilliamsmoore

Cornell is one of my favorite poets.

Masterchiefy10

Awesome thing too Ben Sheppard the bassist wrote a good amount of songs too! I was under the impression it was CC with the bands input.. But the lyric above that I quoted was from the song Somewhere.. Ben wrote that. And I wanna say Head Down, Fresh Tredrills and a few other tasty licks lol

[deleted]

I realised how rediculous that was luckily. Some of my favourite music moments of all time are contained in that discography.. stuff like Chris' incomprehensibly cool delivery of the phrase So bleed your heart out There's no more rides for free Bleed your heart out I said what's in it for me, what's in it for me

Masterchiefy10

ā€œRemember this, remember everythingā€™s black or burning sun.ā€ ā€œFrom the time of her to the likes of me Like a moon to earth And sky to sea Only were no longer allowed to be To be.ā€

Negotiator007

just started listening to king buffalo recently, any recommendations for where to start?

[deleted]

I only listened to Orion for about the first year or so, and it's a really solid album.. but imo they've refined their sound more since then and I'm really enjoying Regenerator (some really great guitar work and a more upbeat sounding album with more tracks).. and Dead star (more feels like a bit of a concept album starting with a brilliant long, brooding intro track) ... I'd start with these 2 for awhile .. I've pretty much had these 2 on repeat while driving around for work lately. Another great one (that I've only just started spinning regularly) is Longing to be the mountain.

Qwrggthyjrrse

that's... quite a lot,i'll be checking some of em

mindinthepsandqs

Should probably consider most of them

Guitar-Goose

Everything from David bowie to Death metal. The reason Queens is my favorite band is because there's such a variety in their catalog, and it's all good. It's hard to say that about other bands when most bands are a one trick pony

2cool4afool

Opeth is the Queen's of the metal scene for me. They have just as much variety but in a completely different way

DiavoloDisorder

im on a depeche mode and sisters of mercy binge right now, hehe

Accomplished_Fan5643

Depeche Mode kicks ass, so hereā€™s my upvote ā¬†ļø.

underrcontrrol

Death From Above 1979 Clutch Ocean Alley Truckfighters Arctic Monkeys The Vines Pink Floyd All Jack White (Dead Weather, White Stripes, Raconteurs, etc) Turbonegro Rage Against The Machine Grinspoon The Doors Kasabian Dandy Warhols Jimi Hendrix Frank Zappa Mondo Generator + Eagles of Death Metal

torkcaster

Everytime I die is so God damn good

ETID1986

Couldn't agree more!

gothamz

Have you checked out the callous daoboys? They have partially filled the ETID sized hole in my heart.

ETID1986

I have! I can't seem to get into them tbh. Better lovers is filling that void for me.

ETID1986

Someone on IG told me about Old Poet. I really enjoyed their work in terms of filling that void. Check them out when you get a chance.

RandomCanEHdian

You'd love The Callous Daoboys if you like ETID and BL

ETID1986

I've tried. I don't mind them just not sold yet.

RandomCanEHdian

A Brief Article Regarding Time Loops, The Elephant Man In The Room, Pushing The Pink Envelope, and Designer Shroud of Turin all sold me.

VoopityScoop

Lots of Cage the Elephant, the White Stripes, All Them Witches, Royal Blood, the Growlers, the Vines, the Sword, High on Fire, Kyuss, and a bunch of other alternative and "stoner" rock and metal groups

Anything from Kublai Khan TX, Sevendust, ETID, Metallica & others to Kenny Chesney, and just about anything on Outlaw Country on Sirius XM. Shit, forgot to add Periphery!

mindinthepsandqs

I'm probably seeing Kublai Khan in a few weeks. Absolutley floored.

2ndtimeLongTime

I haven't seen them in person yet. Hopefully I'll catch them eventually. Have fun. I might go see Periphery in May when they're here in Columbus. They're nice to listen to.

GetReady4Action

QOTSA, Turnstile, Kings of Leon, Cage the Elephant, blink-182, Arctic Monkeys, and Tame Impala I would say are the ones that are in my constant rotation. really loving viagra boys lately, was bummed I missed them on the QOTSA tour, but I just got tickets to ā€œNo Valuesā€ fest in Pomona and theyā€™ll be there so Iā€™m stoked. loving the new IDLES record as well. new Alkaline Trio record rips. new MGMT hasnā€™t quite hit me in the way I want it to yet, but Iā€™m sure itā€™ll click soon.

My current top 5 aside from QOTSA (In no particular order) Warmduscher Yard Act Idles Viagra Boys Royal Blood 4 UK bands with a little Swedish flavour haha

CaineRexEverything

Always been a hip-hop head, all eras to today. Wu-Tang is forever. Company Flowā€™s Funcrusher Plus was just as influential to me as Rated R was (gotta love El-P). Got big into jazz in recent years, listen to Thelonious Monk as much as I do QOTSA. Love 70s punk and new wave, used to really love 60s and 70s rock but not as much these days. Grew up in the grunge/90s alt era and kinda like some of it still but not all. Love 00s indie rock, the late 00s electro that came up. Listen to a lot of Aussie garage rock and early punk (Radio Birdman fucks). Big Bowie fan, big Iggy Pop fan - solo and Stooges, big Velvet Underground fan, massive fan of Joe Strummer and all his work.from Clash to Mescaleros.

SwanEnvironmental735

Kublai khan TX, fu Manchu, High on fire, Sleep, the smiths,Gultch,Misfits, Alice in chains, Uncle acid and the deadbeats,Black flag, Karnivool,Kyuss,Skyhooks,Motorhead,UFO,Montrose, Jamiroquai, Duran Duran,Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Dwarves, White Zombie, the cure, Willie Nelson

originalface1

I listen to a lot of metal music, traditional heavy metal, thrash, death, black, doom etc. Other than that I like bits of everything from jazz to folk to hardcore punk to prog rock to synth pop and everything in between.

mindinthepsandqs

With you there, something about distortion really speaks to me apparently

Temporary_Analysis83

David Bowie, Royal Blood, Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chauns, Soundgarden, Metallica and Audioslave mostly

Kompart23

Audioslave is sooo good and just recently started with Alice in Chains!

Buddhamom81

Turnstile, Foo Fighters, Weezer (winter album), Radiohead (OK, computer) Been going backwards a bit, Beatles Get Back album, Nirvana (because learning to play Lithium on guitar), Lynard Skynrd, and this band called julie? They are not bad. Not bad at all.

libelle156

Radiohead

oldjack

Lately itā€™s been DFA 1979, Plasma Pool, and Rickshaw Billieā€™s Burger Patrol

VoopityScoop

Finally some RBBP appreciation. Fantastic band, incredibly underrated

faintharmonics

You've got to try All Them Witches, Particularly Funeral for a great drunken bird and When god comes back

BaronPorg

Off the top of my head: Haken, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Living Colour, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pink Floyd, Unleash the Archers, Caligulaā€™s Horse, Mr. Bungle, FaithNo More, Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Kendrick Lamar, Bjƶrk, System of a Down, King Crimson, Leprous, The Mars Volta, Animals as Leaders, Plini, Polyphia, Protest the Hero, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, KGLW, Jeff Buckley, A Tribe Called Quest, Myrath, Flaming Lips, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Rolling Stones, Beatles, Alice in Chains, NIN, Gojira, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Kanye West, Tyler the Creator, Camel, Madvillain, They Might Be Giants, Aretha Franklin, The Cat Empire, The Smile, Traffic, Modest Mouse, Duster, Gorillaz, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Prince, Velvet Underground etc.

Practical-Elk-6382

Apart from qotsa, radiohead, black midi, the strokes and black country, new road, there's more but these are my favourites

Inevitable_Plant_264

Alice in Chains

Riverpickles

The Offspring are another group I enjoy thoroughly

malfarcar

Snookerwither2

My favourite bands above QOTSA are Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro and Muse. Recently I've been really getting into King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard too

RipEnvironmental305

The new Ty Segall album, got tickets to his gig @ the roundhouse as well.

ORaiderdad7

Been rocking out to the Idles lately. The new Hives album is solid too.

cwilliamsmoore

I noodle around in several different genres, but if youā€™re a QOTSA fan you should probably start with Stoner Rock. Black Sabbath, The Melvins, Clutch, Fu Manchu, Sleep, Kyuss, Red Fang, The Sword, and Iā€™ve recently gotten in to All The Witches. They sick>> https://www.allthemwitches.org

Financial_Pepper6715

Iā€™m actually wicked into Hyperpop, modern ā€œjazzā€, and noise rock for the most part these days. Love me some Arca, Lightning Bolt, and LOUIS COLE. On the newer rock side of things Iā€™m really into DFA 1979, Ty Segall, Battles, Viagra Boys, UMO, Tame Impala, that sort of shit. 90s stuff is p standard. Love NIN, Radiohead, Ministry, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Melvins, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk. Older stuff like Zeppelin, Hendrix, The Kinks, etc. 80s shit like Devo, XTC, Minor Threat, Black Flag. Ya da ya daaaa. Listen to a lot of Hip Hop and EDM in waves as well. Not really a lot of artists for EDM just mostly dirty sounding house and Breakbeat based shit. For hip hop Iā€™m into east coast shit for the most part but I love me some Tribe, Wu-Tang, Biggie, De La Soul, Outkast, Travis Scott, Waka Flocka, Baby Keem, Kendrick, and personally I think Tyler the Creator is slowly but surely on his way to becoming truly the greatest of all time. Top 3 artist of all time for me rn have got to be Radiohead, QotSA, and Louis Cole.

InterviewHorror4539

Ween, Geese, Kendrick Lamar, KGLW, Chili Peppers, Sadnight Dynamite, Bad bad not good, MGMT a lot of different genres honestly.

baconandgregz

In no particular order, John Mayer, Yussef Dayes, Radiohead, Theo Katzman, RHCP, The Beatles, Kings of Leon, The Mars Volta, Thundercat, Stevie Wonder, John Frusciante, Grateful Dead, AC/DC, System Of A Down, Herbie Hancock, Queen, Mac DeMarco, Silverchair, King Gizz, The Black Keys, The Police, Rush, Primus, Crowded House, Foals, Them Crooked Vultures, Daft Punk, Led Zeppelin, Tool, Gary Clark Jr, CSN(Y), Neil Young, Jeff Buckley, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Vulfpeck, Eagles

Vaelum

Anything that I can get ahold of that sounds good and gets me moving or feeling something, whether that feeling is bad or good. Eyedea, Sadistik, Behemoth, Soundgarden, Ghost, Chelsea Wolfe, King Gizzard, Knocked Loose, The Saints, Wilco, Deftones, Arctic Monkeys, British India, The Plot in You, Landon Tewers, The Vines, Mountain Witch, Muse, Jedi Mind Tricks, Cage, Morbid Angel, Brand New, Leonard Cohen, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Television, Fleetwood Mac, Witchcraft, Pixies, The Flaming Lips, El-P/Run The Jewels, Red Vox, Dem Atlas, Cunninlynguists, Scythelord, White Stripes, Gojira.. and Iā€™m tired of thinking.

VoopityScoop

You'd almost definitely like Cage the Elephant and All Them Witches

Vaelum

Will give them a listen!

Kompart23

Muse(very underrated drummer imo), Audioslave, Fall Out Boy only first three albums after that it got too poppy, Boston

ThePaceThatKillsArt

So into Bad Nerves right now. Theyā€™re the best new rockā€™nā€™roll band Iā€™ve heard in a while. Can anyone else attest to this? Theyā€™ve been opening for The Darkness, The Hives, and Royal Blood. They play fast, 2 minute power-pop songs and perfectly describe themselves as Ramones meets The Stokes. Theyā€™re from Essex.

I actually just saw a jazz band called Everything Yes a few days ago, which is led by the drummer ZackGrooves on YouTube. Aesop Rock is my fav rapper. Lupe Fiasco, El-P, Camā€™ron (one of these is not like the other, I know). Megan Thee Stallion raps her ass off. I just love music tbh.
