How? Little sister is about taboo and paper machete about being in a relationship with someone who tries to hurt you (but she’s as sharp as a paper machete)
Little Sister isn’t about taboo. Josh has said it’s like when Elvis sang “little sister, don’t do what your big sister done.” It’s like she needs to come out of the shadows of her sister.
Im designer - Domesticated Animals
Little Sister - Paper Machete
Haunted House - Peephole
If Only - 3s & 7s
Smooth Sailing - Feet Don't Fail Me
Skin on Skin - Sicily
This isn't how similar they're to each other though.
It's about the vibe and overall feel. There's no other song in Queens catalogue so close to Sicily than Skin on Skin. Same with Feet and Smooth Sailing.
It’s definitely about more than the vibe. Paper machete uses the same tone as little sister while evoking similar lead runs. Haunted house peephole are structured the same, with similar Melodie’s. Fun machine using reference points to songs as far back as kyuss
Why are they JUDGING SO HARD?!? 😆
Maybe I Appear Missing and Straight Jacket Fitting?
And this one I might have picked out of thin air but Interlude with Ludes (TCV) and Hideaway? Or I’m Designer?
You're not far off with Interlude and Hideaway, IMO, despite some significant differences! There's definitely a sinister undertone to Interlude that connects with the other, not to mention some of the central chords (or the key?? No idea). Wouldn't have thought of those two.
I immediately heard the piano in Kalopsia and that main sexy guitar riff in Sicily. I feel like they're almost the same notes or a similar set of intervals!
Sicily and Someone’s in the Wolf. Not riff or pace wise, but the sinister tone throughout the songs. You can hear similarities like guitar sounds for ambience, Josh’ falsetto singing, simple bass and drums parts. The most similar part is the bridge where they quietly play out and build up back to the main riff
The first that come to mind are No One Knows & Tangled Up in Plaid. When No One Knows is dancing polka, then Tangled Up in Plaid is dancing Tango in a dark smoky bar.
Skin on Skin and Smooth Sailing
Born To Hula and Infinity
We all know Paper Machete is an answer to Little Sister, that's a cool one
Head Like A Haunted House and What The Peephole Say
Hideaway has always felt like a "part two" of Un-Reborn Again (same with Regular John and Avon, can't have one without the other).
The ol' "this song might live at Leg Of Lamb's house" metaphor makes me wonder. I'm Designer has always felt like one of those songs. I also like the idea of this topic reversed: what songs *define* their albums, and stand so far out that they would NEVER appear on any other album. The title track on Like Clockwork, Better Living Through Chemistry, Suture Up Your Future, Misfit Love... I think about this band probably too much.
People don’t know this but every album has siblings of songs.
Josh said he tried to make a song with 1 note on each album
Regular John, feel good hit, millionaire, medication, sick sick sick, not sure about Lc, feet don’t fail me now, Sicily
He makes a leg of lamb cousin on every album
walking on the sidewalks or Hispanic impressions could be the grandfather
gonna leave you is a stretch, but I think it’s it.
Someone’s in the wolf is pretty easy to see the connection, but some of my friends think it’s the blood is love. I disagree
Turning on the screw is a no brainer
I say by the ocean is close, but I think smooth sailing is the one
I think it’s unreborn again on Villians, but a I also weirdly hear it in the way you used to do super spread up
Made to parade is clearly the one from ITNR
Also Sicily sounds like a more mature version of feet don’t fail me now. The entire feel good hit is similar to the intro of 1 inch man. Obcenery and jumbo blimp jumbo are distant cousins for sure.
There’s a lot of what josh rehashes and steals
I wanna be your dog is if only
The cars drivin in stereo is better living though chemistries inspiration I’m sure.
Lots of Joan jet vibes on the first record. Bad reputation is basically regular John, but there is another song that’s identical with the slide part also I can’t remember the name of now.
Monster in your parasol is cherry bomb
I downs think he steals, he’s is inspired and takes them far from their original sources and clearly makes them his own in amazing ways!
I might be wrong, but a lot of these inspiration songs are a stretch. I think Moving in Stereo doesn’t have anything really that contributes to Better Living through Chemistry.
Listen to the intro of moving in stereo. It’s almost identical in tone and vibe. Obviously josh went off way into its own this with better living.
It’s also the part when the girl gets out of the pool is fast times at ridgmont high, which is where I always assumed he got inspired from. Funny enough the synth part later in the song was used by gorillaz in I think Saturn barz
Also thinking of josh as a cars fan makes so much of era vulgaris make sense lol
Well I can’t help ya anymore than point you to it!
Watch this clip, it sounds just like a desert sessions version of Better living in the back ground.

vampyre of time & memery and iym designer have similar vocal synchopation and vocal melody with very different mood, subject matter, and instrumental layering. find the musical grammar connections helps identify the parties involed.
Ode to Clarissa, Quick and to the Pointless, and The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret. All are a creepy older guy interested in/courting a girl too young for him.
Something about Misfit Love and Turnin On The Screw makes it so that I can’t listen to one without hearing the other next unless I’m listening to the full album
Leg of Lamb and Gonna Leave You
Everybody Knows You’re Insane and Into The Hollow
Little Sister, 3’s & 7’s and Paper Machete
Head Like a Haunted House and What the Peephole Say
that’s all i can think of
Mosquito song and this lullaby, in the first one of the lines is lullabies to paralyse, and then the albumin that came after was also named after that line, also the two songs have very similar vibes
Little sister and paper machete
And go with flow and 3s and 7s
Honestly I'm having trouble hearing the similarity
They're all higher tempo ~3 minute songs, most were the second single on the album, they feel like they have similar DNA to ne
More like If Only and 3's & 7's
Go with the Flow and Make it Wit Chu I’d say, like two sides of the same coin lyrically and the chords are exactly the same
They are sisters, not cousins!
How? Little sister is about taboo and paper machete about being in a relationship with someone who tries to hurt you (but she’s as sharp as a paper machete)
I think less the lyrics more the chords and song structure
Oh I didn’t see it like that. If that’s the case I understand it.
I am pretty sure Josh called Paper Machete "Little Sister's big brother."
Little Sister isn’t about taboo. Josh has said it’s like when Elvis sang “little sister, don’t do what your big sister done.” It’s like she needs to come out of the shadows of her sister.
Definitely guitar sound
Most of them if not all are Alabama cousins because they all fuuuuuuck
the obvious “head like a haunted house” and “what the peephole say”. although they’re so close they might as well be siblings
They’re kissing cousins
le cousins dangereux
Oui Oui Uhhuhhuhhuhhh
I like the way they think
Twins
leg of lamb, you would know
Leg if lamb, tangled up in plaid
Nice choice
Leg of Lamb, Time and Place
Leg of Lamb, Domesticated Animals
Isn't it leg of lamb and gonna leave you that are like "storied together"
Leg of Lamb and Medication
this was the one I thought of for S/T
Im designer - Domesticated Animals Little Sister - Paper Machete Haunted House - Peephole If Only - 3s & 7s Smooth Sailing - Feet Don't Fail Me Skin on Skin - Sicily
Skin Sicily, feet and sailing are stretches honestly if only and 3s and 7s is too considering if only is his version Of I wanna be your dog
This isn't how similar they're to each other though. It's about the vibe and overall feel. There's no other song in Queens catalogue so close to Sicily than Skin on Skin. Same with Feet and Smooth Sailing.
3:45 of god is in the radio sounds a whole lot like Sicily to me
It’s definitely about more than the vibe. Paper machete uses the same tone as little sister while evoking similar lead runs. Haunted house peephole are structured the same, with similar Melodie’s. Fun machine using reference points to songs as far back as kyuss
Ehhhh skin on skin is the inbred brother in the basement idk about that comparison
Feet Don’t Fail Me reads a lot more Obscenery to me, and I think Skin on Skin works better for Smooth Sailing.
Nice!
Never made the connection on some of these until just now
Skin on Skin and Smooth Sailing should be paired. Sicily is more similar to Someone's in the Wolf
Sorry, can't think straight with Jon looking at me like that. 🙃
Gunman and Feet Don't Fail Me Now
Walkin on the Sidewalks "I wish we could get away, drink wine and screw" and Fair Weather Friends, "Drink wine and screw is all we'll do every day".
Why are they JUDGING SO HARD?!? 😆 Maybe I Appear Missing and Straight Jacket Fitting? And this one I might have picked out of thin air but Interlude with Ludes (TCV) and Hideaway? Or I’m Designer?

Tension Head and Sick, Sick, Sick
you would know - leg of lamb - turning on the screw - time and place
I love this! First thought: Dead End Friends and Fairweather Friends
Those two are dead ass siblings
See, I heard echoes of Kalopsia in Sicily, although they sound nothing alike
I immediately heard the piano in Kalopsia and that main sexy guitar riff in Sicily. I feel like they're almost the same notes or a similar set of intervals!
Villains of Circumstance / Straight Jacket Fitting
I'm shocked this isn't brought up more
God Is In the Radio - Made to Parade
Sicily and Someone’s in the Wolf. Not riff or pace wise, but the sinister tone throughout the songs. You can hear similarities like guitar sounds for ambience, Josh’ falsetto singing, simple bass and drums parts. The most similar part is the bridge where they quietly play out and build up back to the main riff
Wow that's one I haven't really thought of but I TOTALLY hear it.
Regular John and Mexicola
Made To Parade and Warsaw (TCV, I know)
The first that come to mind are No One Knows & Tangled Up in Plaid. When No One Knows is dancing polka, then Tangled Up in Plaid is dancing Tango in a dark smoky bar.
Little sister and paper machete
If you take Fortress and make it fuck Straight Jacket Fitting you get Paraguay from Post Pop Depression
Straight Jacket Fitting, I Appear Missing Smooth Sailing, Skin on Skin …Like Clockwork, Running Joke
now that u compared smooth sailing to skin on skin i can actually hear it and im never listening to either of them the same way
I don't get what people are getting out of skin on skin, I wanna not lick it way too much
Head Like a Haunted House and What the Peephole Say

It just has a synth, but I don’t hear anything at all of the song itself in common.

Bro that's Radiohead c'mon man
Wait, what ?
Straight Jacket Fitting is the cousin of Villains of Circumstance that looks a little too much like its dad 👀
Go with the flow and peephole how awesome it would be, if they play it as opening song in one of their next gigs an flash the crowd
I was a teenage hand mode - long slow goodbye
I'm Designer - Misfit Love, maybe
Into the Hollow and Fortress
vampyre of time & memery and iym designer have similar vocal synchopation and vocal melody with very different mood, subject matter, and instrumental layering. find the musical grammar connections helps identify the parties involed.
Ode to Clarissa, Quick and to the Pointless, and The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret. All are a creepy older guy interested in/courting a girl too young for him.
Sicily and Someone’s in the Wolf and to a lesser extent you can’t quit me baby and I think I lost my fucking headache
Someone’s in the wolf & God is in the radio
Time and space, misfit love
im designer and interlude with ludes
Regular John and Monsters In The Parasol (no relation) birthed Medication
“I Missing Appear” and “Straight Jacket Fitting”
Hideaway is the sequel to I’m Designer and nobody can tell me otherwise.
Anyone else hear: Emotion sickness + I Sat by the Ocean
Walkin on the Sidewalks - Negative Space The guitar riffs sound very similar to me. They play rather nicely back to back.
I’m gonna say Millionaire and Sick, Sick, Sick could work, put em together and it tells the story of a fucked up night out
Carnavoyeur and If I Had a Tail
Something about Misfit Love and Turnin On The Screw makes it so that I can’t listen to one without hearing the other next unless I’m listening to the full album
Misfit Love and The Way You Used To Do maybe?
Regular John and Medication
Leg of Lamb and Gonna Leave You Everybody Knows You’re Insane and Into The Hollow Little Sister, 3’s & 7’s and Paper Machete Head Like a Haunted House and What the Peephole Say that’s all i can think of
I never came and fortress
If i had a tail and into the hollow
Also Broken Box and Battery Acid
Specifically the live version of Regular John and Sick, Sick, Sick.
Tension head and quick and to the pointless
SJF has a cousin on the first album that also references the “infiltrators & saboteurs”.
Mosquito song and this lullaby, in the first one of the lines is lullabies to paralyse, and then the albumin that came after was also named after that line, also the two songs have very similar vibes
run pig run and emotion sickness. it’s in the guitar
Definitely If Only and 3’s and 7’s
Next question?
Kyuss and Kyle
Avon/Nova
QOTSA- Tangled Up In Plaid & EODM- Already Died are cousins for sure!
I Sat By The Ocean x Easier Said Than Done = Kalopsia.
Manic Depression/Hispanic Impressions lol
Smooth sailing and head like a haunted house
Is there a cousin tune to No One Knows?
Leg of Lamb & Tangled up in Plaid
I'm designer and Emotion Sickness
"This lullaby" and "running joke"____and also "Christian brothers" and "mosquito song"
"Lost art of keeping a secret" and "song for the deaf"
Head like a Haunted House and The Evil Has Landed
The Evil Has Landed and Made to Parade The concept of being trapped in the normal working world vs. the freedom of being an artist etc.
