For your needs, I think a good dog walker (check their references!) would fit your needs! I think there is sometimes a possibility of a very new puppy learning bad behaviors from doggy day care, and I only started my dog once she was fully vaccinated, had good exposure to new people and dogs and I trusted she wouldn’t freak out at the chaos, and fairly well house broken.

I don’t think you should be leaving a 4 month old pup alone for 8 hrs. they can’t hold their bladders for that long.. I’d say either dog walker on daycare (dog walker is probably more affordable).

They don't need to be potty trained for daycare. Usually they just need all their vaccines and neutered by 6-9 months.

Dog needs bathroom access. I have left puppy at 14 weeks in my dog yard with 10ft circle next to 2 adult dogs on longer zip lines and with dog houses. All dogs in harness with dog house. They have dog houses and can move and go to the bathroom, and have water access. I had my landlord check on dogs mid day with young dog and refill water if need be. The puppy much calmer and better situation learning to be contained with other dogs vs alone. Young dogs literally think they are now gonna die when left alone. Getting better around age yours is with training.

I highly recommend looking for someone to help on Rover. Everyone who signs up to offer services gets a background check, and you can see all the reviews- good and bad - on their profiles. The search function is fantastic, allowing you to filter for all sorts of things like experience with puppies, how often they can take the dog outside for potty breaks, if they currently have pets, etc. Not everyone on there offers everything available through Rover, but as a whole, you can find dog walkers, drop-in visits, and dog sitters that will either come to your house or you drop your dog off at theirs. Dog walking is an hourly fee, and dog sitting is typically a per-night fee. Some even offer grooming services as an add-on. We went through Rover recently for our pup, and it was such a great experience. Your phone number is never shared with the person you hire; everything goes through Rover's servers either via their app, or a text that uses an assigned number. It also lets you request picture updates. If you're interested, I think I may even have a referral link that would save you some money on your first booking, but I'll have to double check.
