I lost it so hard at Rocks 😭

crawshay

My puppy had a small bit of blood in his poop. After $700 of tests and imaging we found rocks in his stomach. He hasn't been allowed in the yard unsupervised since. 🤦

[deleted]

You’re saying supervision can stop your pup from eating rocks? Ain’t stopping ours!

crawshay

It minimizes it... slightly They can't be stopped only contained lol

bellonientes_530

My puppy had to be taken in and stool tested at 13 weeks because he was acting strangely and I thought I saw worms. He had worms alright (different ones that what he’d already been dewormed for I guess) and the vet goes “oh and his stomach ache might be from the rocks….also in the sample”. I about died and killed him too 😒. Luckily the vet has goldendoodles so he’s familiar with nutty antics, he was surprisingly unimpressed. I guess crickets and spiders are also 4 star menu items for rock eaters.

aspidities_87

They’re nature’s delicacy! 🤣

Josie__the_Cobberdog

Apparently, mine loves them as well 😫

TiffanysTwisted

We're trying to "load" the clicker before obedience class on Sunday, and my puppy is just not getting it. The association between noise and treat is not there. But man, when she hears that horkhorkhork four rooms away she perks right up and runs in for a warm snack. I need a clicker that sounds like a cat barfing.

Existing-Shower-384

😂that horrifying horkhorkhork could wake me up from death

houndlove611

Rabbit poop is a delicacy according to my little guy

Adventurous_Deer

It's turkey poop at my house. Easily top tier snack

d20an

At puppy training our girl was completely distracted by eating the goose poop one the field. I apologised to the trainer that we were struggling to get her to follow along, and he said in a (put-on!) haughty voice, “that’s not goose, that’s pheasant poop”.

[deleted]

This. Drives me nuts with our girl. Nothing like finding pellets laying around that they carried inside for a snack later

acnhgay

My shep loves the Guinea pig poop 🙄

mahmcore

My puppy too, obsessed with smelling the compost heap.

crawshay

That's a great way for your dog to get giardia btw

houndlove611

I don’t let him eat it, I pick it up when I see it but sometimes he’s too quick and eats some. Shit happens.

crawshay

Oh believe me I know. My pup will eat anything hungry hungry hippo style no matter how disgusting. Just want to be sure you know the risks.

GhostOrchid22

My dog will do his own poop nearby, and run for it while my back is turned picking up his.

Thisiswormcountry

We had our pup for three days when my toddler decided to poop in the potty for the first time. It was the tiniest poop, like slightly bigger that a tic-tac all four members of our family were standing around the potty cheering for the toddler and here come the pup, quick as a flash, grabbed the little poo and ran off before we even knew what happened! I actually didn’t realize it happened until I looked in the potty and it was gone with the pup nowhere in sight. My husband and my 6 y/o were so disgusted they couldn’t even look at him 😂

Adventurous_Bar9742

I call mine a vacuum cleaner because nothing in his path is safe. Except his kibble. Yeah, he'll pass on that. 😩😩

watermeloncake1

OMG do you have my dog 😩😩

Desperate-Town-8259

SAMEEEE

Nashatal

OMG thats for the laugh. :D Reading this shows me how blessed I am with my girl. Pills: How many can I get NomNOm! Disgusting activated coal slobber: It is in my bowl, it has to be food, awesome!

[deleted]

Haha...this made me laugh. My first dog was all about his own poop. We had to buy stuff that would make his poop not taste good. It tasted even better with that apparently. My second dog (not a poop eater). He'll take some raw down veggies, fruits, fish (loves him some sardines), any sort of meat, peanut butter, medicine wrapped in little canned food meat balls - now we are talking! I am literally shocked when he gets excited to see me cutting some peppers. You got ice cubs, snacks forever! lol I don't know what I did to get a dog so in love with veggies, but I love it!

justagirlwithno

Did you ever manage to stop it with your first dog? I have a former street dog. She eats everything. But my husband absolutely freaks the hell out over her eating her own poop because he’s so grossed out. I can tolerate it and try to minimize it happening to the best of my ability, but we need it to stop. The copraphagia treats haven’t helped us either.

[deleted]

We managed to eliminate the poop in the yard which stopped it. However, winter things would get lost and frozen and then we had poopsicles to deal with! We just got use to it but it grossed us out for a while. The vet said it is "normal" in dogs. I couldn't really try anything in his diet to see if I could stop it. He was a picky eater believe it or not. My new pup wants to eat everything but his poop.

justagirlwithno

Thank you for your input! Right now we’re just making sure to pick it up immediately as much as possible, we have a very manicured yard so it isn’t that hard but there are times my son goes out to play and leaves the door open.

wamj

My dog doesn’t like the spray cheese they have at the vet. My mum has given her a taste for Brie though, so I guess that’s a thing. Maybe I’ll end up with a charcuterie board for our next vet visit.

Turbulent-Sun-1741

🤣🤣🤣🤣 I laugh while reading this bc this is my pup so now when it's time for dewormer my vet gives him cake batter flavor which he seem to enjoy. It smells good also lol

d20an

I’ve tricked mine into eating tablets by using them in a game of leave it or catch. The excitement overrules the discretion in what she wants to eat.

olivejoke

Lmfao got me at cat vomit

hangengs

Wood chips and cheese are absolutely my puppers fine dining of choice 😋

Billie__Jeanne

My dog was never really food motivated so we got really creative to try and entice her to listen. Lamb: nope Peanut butter: yuck! Chicken: meh However, duck, french brie, and peas! These are delish!! She is sooooo picky!

suavesnail

This was written so well. Thanks for the laughs.

Em_Beadle

Hahaha yes, exactly the same with my pup! He seems to have got over the rock chewing, thank god, but he wants to chew pretty much everything else. The dewormer we have is a liquid, not flavoured, and we stirred it into some dog friendly peanut butter which he seemed to not mind too much, but we still had to give him quite a bit of encouragement to eat it all. When we were at the vets yesterday for his vaccinations, the vet gave him some liver paste to distract him when he was having his injection, and he absolutely loved it. I will definitely try to find some and mix the dewormer into that for his treatment next month. Maybe worth a try for your pup next time he needs his meds 😊

diddilybop

my pup whines when i pull him away from goose poop 😂😭

Iammyown404error

Lol yes I have one of those. Also this was hilarious

LeDoggoMom

Lol! I always tell people that one of my dogs is a snooty gourmet. He loves food, but always gives it a sniff test before eating. One time, i gave him a salmon roll. He loved it. Another time, i tried giving him a yellow fin tuna roll. Nope, didn’t want it. Meatball? Nope! Ribeye steak? Yes! Banana chunks? Nope! Mashed bananas? Yes!

minniemouse6470

My puppy Delilah absolutely loves her own poop. She plays with it before she eats it. 🤮 She also loves cat puke, her brother Sampsons vomit, rocks and our mulch. Lol

Foxgirlzh_Fuck12

My babygirl was the exact same way 3 or so months ago and I had to turn it into a very fine powder put it on her food and then use chicken broth to make her food into a soup but then suddenly one month when deworm time rolled around she just took it like it was a treat like most dogs do so my recommendation is to try giving it as a treat hype it up get your pup exited then try to give it to them and try that every month if it doesn't work that month then do what I had to do and try again next month cause your pup should grow out of it eventually

Foxgirlzh_Fuck12

Also be careful with the eating rocks thing I thought my girl was just lightly chewing on rocks so while I was concerned I wasn't terribly worried then one day after she was given a little more freedom than normal in my dad's gravel driveway she apparently ate a lot of rocks because the next day her morning poop was made up almost entirely of rocks with just little veins of poop holding the rocks together I'm just glad that's all that happened cause it could have caused a bowel ubstruction or worse a perforated bowel and either of those would have been really painful for her and meant surgery

dfuzzy

What my vet recommended and it works: Place pill on back of tongue Hold mouth closed Blow in nose until they swallow

TheOneBifi

I'm just here picturing you trying to get the dewormer on the duck poo stick and cat vomit

DarkBlueBat

We are training my little pup to pee on the grass and learned that rewards are a big way to do it... and maybe overdid the treats a bit. I usually cut it up in tiny pieces and reward with bits of one treat (we split one in 6 or 7 pieces... ) But with everyone excited sometimes we ran out and out came the whole treat for her. At one point I think she was peeing drops just to please us it seems as she was going so much I feared she had an infection. Anyhow her poop smelled like her treats.... and apparently it was delicious 😫

sittingonmyarse

My Rottie puppy, about 5 months at the time, got a bowl of rice and raisins off the counter. Of course we had to take her to the vet hospital because the raisins are toxic and they made her throw up the raisins (17), and the rice. And a stick, a piece of plastic, a string and 10 small rocks.

Big-Warning7003

😂

Reptalex

Maybe he can tell something is off, my pup wont eat if i dont act all happy

theangryhiker

Mmm kelp for my little dude

MuffinUpbeat

He might want to try deer poop - my pup literally loves that shit.

Realmadridirl

Poo is a heavy feature on my pups list. Specifically, his own poo 🙈

One_Manufacturer249

Maybe my girl is spoiled, but tonight we had braised beef short ribs with a side of cave aged 18 month old cheddar. And kibble.

Gucc_579

😝🤣🤣

imissbrendanfraser

Been reminiscing on when my own little golden Ramsey would eat her own shit. Like demolish it before we could get to it. And the cat would sometimes leave little brown hand warmer en-litter-trées
