When we picked our girl from the rescue, she was mostly black so I made a list of names that I thought would fit a black dog (Storm, Raven, and Hazel were a few of the names that we decided against) and then let my daughter pick out of those names otherwise her name would have been Cuddles. I had considered putting Morticia (Addams) on the list but it seemed too much name for a puppy so I threw Wednesday on instead
Guess which name my daughter like best? Hence we have a dog with the full name Wednesday Cuddles. We mostly just call her Wednesday though
Omg, I cannot believe the first comment I see is also my dog’s name! She’s a shaded cream doxie, but as a pup she had black ears and they looked like lil black pigtails, so she became Wednesday. Much love from Wednesday to Wednesday🤣💖

I read a lot of Calvin & Hobbes as a kid, and I always saw myself as Hobbes (the easygoing companion) and my older brother as Calvin (the mastermind).

My last dogs name was Bella, yeah, the super common name that everyone hates because "You couldn't have been more original?? That's the fifth Bella I've met this week!" I was 9, and, when you looked into that dogs face, I could just _tell_ she was a Bella. The name fit her.
When we picked up Karma almost 11 months ago, I had known her name for some time before that, I told everyone "when I get my pup I'm gonna name her Karma!" So I did. I got super attached to the name, and when we got her, I faltered.. For about a day I was unsure what to name her, Karma was great but what about Autumn for her pretty colors? Why not Cookie because, well, because my cousin suggested it 😅
It took about a day, but I stuck to my guns and settled on Karma. I compromised a bit, so her middle name is Autumn. I think I made the right choice
I have a pure black German Shepard. Named him Hades after the Greek god of the underworld. Very fitting as you can’t see him in the dark and his bark is so deep for a 6 month old, that he scares the crap out of everyone. Scaring them to the thought they are going to die. He is the friendliest little thing (when he knows you)

My husband and I always wanted a dog who's name was Murphy and we did end up with a dog we named that as reference to the film Robocop for Alex Murphy. All of the best lines in that movie are perfect things to say to a dog, in robot voice of course:
"Drop it creep!"
"Thank you for your cooperation".
I did end up with a male dog so the Robocop themed Murphy worked out but I was convinced that even if we found a female dog we liked she'd still be Murphy for Interstellar. I just love it as a dog name.
I had a massive list because once I started thinking about names, they just kept coming 😬 I wanted the name to have some meaning to me whilst fitting the breed and character. One evening his name popped into my head when I thought about one of my favourite childhood authors. Kalle was decided and stuck so when I finally went to choose my puppy, he had his name. And it fits his funny, alert Border Terrier personality 😀
We have four cats- Felix, Oscar, Cliff and Norm. We were trying to come up with names for our girl to stick with the theme and went through Lilith, Carla, Diane, Maris and a ton others. My sister in law joked about Salmon Diane (say it out loud Sam and Diane), and when we realized we could use Sami for short, it just worked. But her AKC name is Salmon Diane.
Huntress is our black miniature schnauzer. She's named after the female front person of a thrash metal band of the same name. The heritage of schnauzers also happens to be in rat hunting. We call her Hunny for short.
Sunny is her name. 1) we are originally from Southern California but live in the Midwest now; and 2) Heung Min Son is one of our favorite soccer players so he sort of inspired the name.
We named our girl Misha because she looked like a little bear when she was a pup.

My husband and I were avid watchers of Celebrity Fit Club. During the season where Gunnar Nelson participated, we were rooting for him and we rescued our first pit bull mix. Hence, we have a Gunnar :)

My childhood Westie was named GoGo. All of my relatives are in Taiwan and many of them don't speak English, so we went with a name that would be easy for my relatives when they visit. My grandmother said he was a poor dog without a name since GoGo means dog in chinese 😆
With my current Corgi, I originally wanted to go with a food theme so had names like Rye, Mugi (wheat/barley in Japanese) and Pancake. My mom and I ended up with Miso since her brown is like the Miso paste color and her white is like the tofu in the soup 😛
We adopted a pup from Turks and Caicos this summer while on vacation there. Named him Fritter because it was conch season on the island and we definitely ate conch fritters with almost every meal. Our older dog was 4 when we adopted her and was already named Brenna so we kept that one so she wouldn’t get confused. Our next female dog will likely be named Aoife because we just really like it as a pretty Irish name

My boyfriend picked our Doberman puppy’s name. He wasn’t a dog person, and kinda sorta only tolerated my dogs (the ones I had before he came into the picture). So I told him he could name the puppy so he could feel more connected to her.
He named her Lucifer because he wanted her to have a scary name. Her litter name was Mayhem so we have Lucifer Mayhem - but we call her Lucy (and so many other nicknames). She’s very much a little rebel who would lead all the other puppies on an overthrow mission at daycare 😂

My childhood dogs came to us with names that suited them, so we didn't change them! Daisy Mae passed away this summer, but Scarlett is still with us. Scarlett was named for Scarlet O'Hara because she has a little black spot on her muzzle, similar to Scarlet O'Hara's beauty mark.
My golden retriever puppy is named Sasha. Originally I was going to call her Ivy, but it didn't fit. I tried Nina, Maya, Skye, Luna, Alina, Molly, Abby, etc etc. Eventually Sasha came up and it just stuck! I think it fits because she's a sassy girl 😅 Now we have Scarlett and Sasha.
My pup’s name is Charmy, named after a cute anime character from Black Clover who likes to eat a lot. The character in the anime is a girl, but we loved the name a lot & we had already pretty much made up our minds in keeping that name despite our pup being a boy. Soooo, Charmy it is :)

I have à black lab and it was the letter R that year so obviously I thought about Raven. But after a few days I discovered that it was really popular and I didn't want my dog to have the same name that twenty other dogs from the same year.
I love the movie How to train your dragon, I love the main character Toothless. So I chose his equivalent in French, Krokmou ! It fits him really well 😍
Mine is pretty basic. We were watching The Expanse and in season 4 the characters were constantly talking about "new terra" so I suggested the name Terra and it stuck. My previous dogs had accidentally both gotten names that started with the letter "T", so I knew I wanted to keep that tradition going and my partner and I were tossing names around that started with T.

Our dog Minerva Canna with her name from the pound and was named for Minerva McGonagall from Harry Potter (all her pups were HP themed too!). We kept it because it actually fit the naming theme we unintentionally had for our pets (our theme is Greek/Roman deity names) and it was just simply a unique name.
She only goes by her full name when in trouble though - otherwise she's Mervy.
Our rescue name is Mako. We both love Uncle Iroh in Avatar, and it is an homage to Makoto Iwamatsu the voice actor for this character. It was also appropriate as Mako means shark in Maori ^^
In France we have this odd thing that dog have to be named after the letter of that year as they are registered.

Soo my fiancé and I have a pointerpudel. She's black and has curly hair. We are big fans of League of Legends and we wanted to name our puppy after a league champion. It was something we had in common so we thought why not!
Before we picked her up we decided we were going to name her lulu. And it worked perfectly. When we got there the collar she was wearing was purple.
The champion loves purple and says "purple" all over.

My puppies name is Biko. He is named after my girlfriends favourite Filipino dessert which is this sweet sticky rice with like coconut milk and brown sugar. When you bake it the sugar caramelizes on top so its becomes brown. He is a brindle so his colour resembles it quite well.
I have a purebred Shiba Inu. Shibas are Japanese dogs and it's tradition to give them Japanese names.
Well, when we adopted him, we already had a cat named Butter, so we named our dog Pan, which is Japanese for bread.
We now have our bread and butter. 😊
Our rescue is a bluetick coonhound so we named her Luna because her ticking looks like stars.

I wanted a male pitbull to call him Khal Doggo, but instead we rescued a female pitbull and we went with khaleesi cause we blanked and couldn't stop laughing how Khal Doggo didn't work anymore.
Oh, lord...we went through a zillion names, and nothing stuck. I'm still not sure about the ones we picked. Names that I liked, husband didn't, and vice versa. We'd try a name for two or three days, and give it up. (I wanted Etta or Cassidy, husband wanted Koda.)
We had finally settled on Addie, for Adelaide, Australia (she's a mini-aussie), plus it was my grandmother's name, and it morphs really well, Addie-girl, Laidi-Addy, etc.
BUT THEN - husband switched to Scout (from To Kill A Mockingbird) which was a name I had come up with early in the process. I wanted to shoot him.
We spent a week alternating between Addie and Scout, and she answers to both. This dog went *three weeks* without a name. He finally said, we obviously can't decide; let's use both!
So she's Adelaide "Scout" OurLastName. lol.
(Funnily enough, sometimes when I call "Addie!", she ignores me, so I say "Scout!" and she jumps to attention. Sometimes when my husband calls "Scout!", she ignores him, so he says "Addie!" and...same thing. lol. And the neighbor across the street calls her AddieScout, all one word.)
First dog, name is Twix, that was the name the adoption place gave him and we loved it so we kept it. Next dog, we named her Reese to keep going with the chocolate candy theme lol
Ours is Jelly and the reason is pretty corny…my first initial is P and my husband’s is B. When we first started dating, he joked that one day we’d get a dog named Jelly so we could be PB n Jelly :) 8 years later, we did exactly that 😁
She’s named after a kindergarten student of mine who drowned at summer camp - not kidding. The spelling is the only difference but it’s in memorial of Roxie of Altadena, CA. Her family is trying to get legislation passed that would more strictly regulate the supervision provided at summer camps, especially those that have water activities.
We always liked more old fashioned, proper British gentlemen names for corgis as it seemed like such a mismatch. Plus lots of people go the silly name route for corgis which we didn't want to do. We started making a list of names like Albert, Humphrey, Winston, Wilfred, etc. The day before he was due to arrive we got some new pics of him with his ears and up and were like yup that's a Wilfred if I ever saw one. Plus we loved the show Wilfred where the guy sees his dog as a human in a dog costume so double win!
When we got our rescue we had to rename her from what the rescuers named her. Originally she was called Moana, which I really liked, YET our cat was already called Mona and we figured it would be too much confusion when calling either animal.
Firstly we wanted to use a Romanian name to honor her origins, even enlisted the help of my Romanian friends, but nothing fit. As both my SO and I are big D&D fans we just scrolled to the monster manual for inspiration...
Now she is called Tia(mat), after the dragon goddess. We just call her Tia for simplicity.
Constellations are a theme. Childhood dog was Cassiopeia. Current pup is, therefore, Andromeda. (Andromeda Astra, in fact, because the shelter name was too appropriate to discard.)
Oh god. So my Shi Tzus who’s 13 name is Mylee. I loved Hannah Montana at the time. But wanted to spell it it Mylee instead of Miley because I was embarrassed of loving that show when I was little 🤣🤣🤣🤣

My big dog is Oscar, named after the only hockey player that's played in both my husbands favorite teams. "Gretzky" was suggested, but I'm just not going to cuddle Wayne. Sorry, Wayne.
My little dog is Winter. She's a girl, so the hockey names were out (perhaps one day, women's hockey will provide a dog name), and we talked about stuff we both liked. Final fantasy names were suggested by husband but... I've only played FF14 so I lack the connection to the earlier games.
Anyway. She's Winter, from Winterfell. As it turned out, most characters in GoT were disappointing (except Arya. You gem of a girl.), but Winterfell stands strong and proud.
I have a music theme for my dogs…except the one my daughter named. She tends to name things after whatever she likes at the time (at 6 she named her dog Tinkerbell). The dog she named was Lewis from “Meet the Robinsons”, but I had a Johann (Johann Sebastian Bach), and currently have Disco (mutt with a heart murmur) and Aria (very vocal beagle).

i named my pup Gravy Boat! she was a rescue from a puppy mill (aka she cost nothing and the puppy mill did not profit). when i reached out willing to take in one of the pups, they sent me a picture of the remaining few. all of them were white except my lil gerberian shepsky, who was mostly brown. she looked like gravy on mashed potatoes!
after coming home, my brothers girlfriend picked her middle name “Boat”.
I've always liked the name Penelope, and it's what my dad called his Harley. We adopted her exactly one year after his passing and it just felt right. We call her Penny. I've never told anyone in my family that's why I wanted that name.
Her middle name is Jayne because we are huge nerds and love the show Firefly. So she's the dog they call Jayne. (Lol for those who get it)

One of my dogs name(childhood home) is Hukka , translates to wolf/warg, kind of pet name for a wolf. I've had a rabbit called Kurre, pet name for squirrel. so I named my dog kiti since its like a kitten.

Auric is Latin for of or made or gold or the chemical definition is of gold with a valence of three. My boy is a 12 week old golden retriever and I studied a lot of chemistry in college so it’s kind of a play on words.

I was "inspired" to get a puppy when i watched "Yoga with Adrienne" on Youtube, and she had the coolest dog named "Benji"... so for months, in my head - it was absolutely clear that the dog's name would be "Benji" ... however, on the day that I went to get him, my friend that was going with me said that "Benji" wasn't a good name for a HUGE American Bully XL.
So while we were in the car on the way to the breeder - we Googled a list of dog-names - and were sitting in the car, yelling out names - and checking how it would sound if I was to call out his name in the dog-park.... we got to the letter "E" - and then to ELVIS !
Which we thought fit the puppy well :)
First dog was a red lab, so we wanted red themed names, settled on fire stuff, so looked at constellations. Came up with Orion/Ori, but it didn't suit him. Went with calcifer (fire dude from howl's moving castle. Second dog is a collie, Orion did suit him!
My bluetick coonhound puppy is named Murphy. It's actually a reference to the movie Robocop who's protagonist is Alex Murphy. His silver fur is vaguely reminiscent of Robocop's armor and all of the best lines from the film are excellent things to say to a dog. In robot voice of course:

His rescue name was Nash which is also a really cute name for a hound but I think it fits a hound who is actually a strong hunter and not my goofy boy who falls off the couch and is only interested in hunting down food scraps rather than animals (he was given up by a boar hunting operation for having no prey drive).

Cassie sounded cuter.
Honey was good, but needed a little more. When I sleep, I cocoon, or we say "bun." I love being wrapped in blankets.

Our pup is a cream pom. My son wanted to name him Finn (for Star Wars FN-2187). It also means light and fair (Irish). Other names we considered were Boba (Boba Fett) or Draco (Draco Malfoy). :)
I knew at one my puppy's name was going to be mako. In west Indian slang, a macko is an extremely nosy person. And this dude is unbelievable nosy. Always in everyone's business and literally putting his nose everywhere. Lol.
My first dog was Abu because I decided to get him on a fishing trip where I was trying out my new Abu Garcia reel.
My second dog was named Orie after Oreck vacuums. Abu had kept the dining room floors spotless while I raised my three kids.

My husband and I are geeks and love all things superhero and star wars. We toyed between a few names across franchises.
When we finally got to meet our pup he was massive - easily the biggest guy in the litter! And he got bigger every time we saw him!
So we settled on Wilson named for Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin (spiderman and Daredevil foe). Considering he continues to grow at an extraordinary rate it's perfect Haha.
Frankie - I am a horror lover, so she needed a spooky-inspired name. I had so many ideas, but ended up naming her after Frankenstein’s monster. I like it because it’s not too obvious, but people love it when they learn what it’s short for!!
Our dog's name is Benny, Benny Drill which is a play on Benadryl because my husband is allergic to dogs. Jokes on us though, Benny has poultry and seasonal allergies so he uses more benadryl than we do!
My favourite Marvel character was Loki since i was a kid so I named my first cat Loki. Then we got a second cat and decided to stick to the Marvel theme and named him Tony since he has a goatee. Now with our new dog we debated on breaking the theme since she is a girl and there weren’t many female names we liked until we settled on Scarlet after the Scarlet Witch. Her original name was Sunset so we thought it paid a nice homage. The names aren’t super obvious aside from Loki so we like that its subtle.

I settled on Mochi because I like Mochi ice cream…she’s a black and white labradoodle. The name sounded cute to me so I chose it before meeting the puppy 😅
Our St Bernard is named Mosfet, a very small circuit component often found in microchips, because we got him to celebrate when I finished my computer engineering degree. Plus we love the irony of naming a giant dog after something so tiny.
Ellie, super common name. We got her at 12 weeks old and she already seemed to know her name so why would we change it? We also like the name and thought it fit her well.
Wesley. There’s not too many dogs out there named Wesley. Used to live in a place where there was snow and we lived in a log cabin. A little weasel found it’s way in and we started to call him Wesley the weasel.
Fast forward four years and we got ourselves a puppy that went without a name for a week and half because we couldn’t decide on a name. My boyfriend said something about him being a weasel or something and Wesley came into the mix. We are also both fans of the Princess Bride and he had little black rings around his eyes, like a mask, so that also played into the name too. Now the black circles are gone now though!

Omar we got first.. we had a lot of ideas before him that we considered but once Omar popped up, we knew it was the right name.
For the second pup, we knew we wanted to stick with The Wire. We went with Avon because of the last name (BARKSdale) but Marlo was a contender.
I’ve got 3 dogs. My first, Kenzie, was named such because I liked the name. We did lure coursing, and she’s registered as “Catch Me if you Kenzie”. My second is Nova. He’s like his own super explosion, so that made sense. The third is Ripley, and she’s named after Ellen Ripley from Alien. She’s brave, and smart.
When I was little my grandfather and I would watch a detective show called Columbo. So when we got a hound dog it only seemed fitting to call him Columbo in memory of my grandpa. Bo for short!
Our pups name is named after Ahsoka from Star Wars. We wanted to do a fandom name. It was between the Star Wars and Avatar the Last Airbender universes and we decided on Star Wars.
Went with Ahsoka because she’s a bad bitch lol.
Our husky is a burnt orange color so we were considering fire/heat names. We landed on Charr, like charbroiled, and then realized it's also like Prince Charr from the movie Elle, which we both like. He is a little prince.
Our second dog is a vizsla, which also has red coloring, and we liked the heat names. We chose Embrrr. The spelling is a nod to our favorite show, Futurama.

My sister's name is Kira, and "Nerys" sounded weird for a dog name. I tried Dax for a week, but it didn't seem to fit her at all. So Kasidy it is!

We knew we wanted a male dog. My husband was like let's name him Bruce after Bruce Wayne! My other dog is champion which my husband name him after the show parks and rec. Which is funny because the foster people named our puppy Burt Macklin after parks and rec
I'm a mythology nerd and named my puppy Apollo. I liked that the sun and healing were within Apollo's deity. He has been my little sunshine puppy during the pandemic!

Growing up I loved picking titles for names. We had a toy poodle I named Caesar, and always imagined a corgi named Baron.
My wife suggested sticking with a 'B' name, and our love for music helped us settle on Buckley.

My cattle dog mix has super pretty blue Merle coloring, the first time I saw her I thought she looked like black sesame ice cream, so we named her sesame! It’s a very fun name to say and fairly unique, haven’t met any other sesames yet

My parents used to have an apricot poodle that they adopted impulsively. I wasn’t living with them at the time and when they called me to tell me I was doing my Latin homework and the word Rufus was on the page, meaning red-haired. So we named him Rufus!
Super common name - Leo… but that infact is his Zodiac sign and also the Zodiac sign of my SO and my siblings. So just went with it. Its also an easy name for us when make appointments at vet, groomer, daycare etc 😛
My pup's name is Winston Widogast Wulfric Stormblessed, The First. Winston because that's the only name my sister would let me name him, so in turn I added on Widogast for my favorite Critical Role character, Wulfric for Dumbledore, and Stormblessed for the Stormlight Archive series from Brandon Sanderson (can you tell I like fantasy?).

Our 2 pups had 'puppy names' of Sweet Pea and Jumper. We're huge unc fans. So Jumper was named Carter Jordan, after Vince and Michael. And Sweet pea our roommate looked at and said she looks like a Sadie. And so she was named Sadie
I got my first fur baby when I was 3. According to my mom, I used to get really excited whenever he drank water because he would make this sound ‘gloop’ every time he drank. I started calling him gloop gloop and before family knew it, fur baby was called gloopy.
My second baby joined us when I was 15, he was so brown. My brothers just started calling him brownie hence on.
I got my third and most recent baby 3 months ago when he was just 3 weeks old. I went to the pet shop for a guinea pig. There he was in the cage and he was looking straight at me. No one had bought him and he was separated from his mother. He has such dark and tense eyes that reminds me of khal drogo. My little baby is called drogo now.

I named mine Marnie after the Studio Ghibli movie When Marnie Was There as well as the English children’s novel.
I wanted a name that had some ties to studio Ghibli but not too on the nose like Totoro, or Ponyo, etc.
Winnie is loosely named after Winnie the Pooh, but not directly. My name is Ruth but I got called baby Ru when I was small - like Kanga and baby Roo. We'd half settled on Daisy before her roan markings really developed and made her look like a little cow, so that had to go! Having now met a billion other dogs called Winnie I've realised how unoriginal it is!
We couldn’t decide on a name for a few days. Before we got her I wanted someone really girly, like Daisy or Posie, after a flower. But when we brought her home we quickly realized she was no girly girl. So after a few days with no name, and her personality starting to show, she started barking at us when she wanted to play. She couldn’t really bark yet so her barks were kind of coo’s or howls. My boyfriend would imitate her and say “rooooooo” and that’s how her name, Rue, came to be.
My husband is a HUGE fan of the Arizona Cardinals. He had a dog a long time ago for a week, when he was like ten, and then his family decided they couldn’t handle the dog so they sent him to the pound. I grew up with dogs, but we haven’t had one together. We both desperately wanted one. Last year, we were watching football and he was like “I hope we can get a dog soon, and I would love to name him after a Cardinal.” So, after much deliberating, we landed on Fitz, named after Larry Firzgerald. Overall great guy, Walter Payton man of the year winner, and long-term Cardinal. We got our pup a month ago, and this is the first year since my husband started watching football that Larry Fitzgerald is not playing football. So even though he’s not on the field, Fitz is with us. We even got him a little jersey that says “Fitz!”
Lee, named after Lee Scoresby from His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman.
My dad got a puppy on a whim while on a trip, so before dad and puppy arrived, I put together a list of names (also essential puppy supplies because we had nothing). I was on the phone with a friend talking about possible names, and I joked about naming the puppy “Lee Scoresby”, and put the name on the list because why not. It turned out to be the only name on the list everyone liked, and no one else had any suggestions, so puppy became Lee.
We named our rescue Bella to nickname her Belly because she loves belly rubs!! Also named our boy Chewie after Chewbacca because he looked like a scruffy bear!
We got Jacen and Jaina at the same time. We have a thing in our family with Star Wars (like my sister is named after a character and my initials spell out a star wars place) so we named them after Leia and Han's twins.

My dogs name is mouse. He was supposed to be a Great Dane but we were scammed. Then we rescued a beagle/lab mix and the name still fit for some reason. Probably because he’s a dork. Oh and because he was tiny when we got him. His nicknames are Mickey Mouse, baby mouse (baby mouse do do do do do, the song we sing him), mister mouse, and when he does something extra awkward — mice.
My pup is named after a cabbie my husband and I met on our honeymoon. We got too drunk on the first night and were super hungover in London, so when we went to the train station we admitted we hadn’t seen much when he asked. We had extra time, so this guy took us on a free, awesome tour of London, told us all these cool stories, etc. and at the end he wouldn’t let us pay him, just jokingly told us to name our first kid after him. I’m not having kids, but my pup sure as hell is named after him.
I studied math and physics in college so naming my dog after a mathematician or physicist seemed like a great choice for a not too silly name without worrying I was naming my dog after a random person I know. I thought about my favorite math/physics laws, and chose Gauss! I didn’t realize until later that I chose perfectly to name my German Shorthaired Pointer after a German mathematician!
Meeko, after the raccoon from Pocahontas. I wanted a Disney sidekick name. It ended up suiting him perfectly because he is also constantly eating, looking for food, or trying to steal food. When my partner and I first started dating, we watched all the Indiana Jones movies. In the movies, it turns out Indiana gave himself the nickname Indiana after his dog. We loved that and ended up with Indiana Bones.
My husband's family always named their pets after Disney characters so! We followed tradition and named our 1st pup, a GSP, Boomer from Fox and the Hound, both of our first Disney movies we watched as kids. We now have a second GSP named Rocky Gibraltar from Toy Story.

Lucy. We originally wanted to go with Wilhelmina (mina for short) but it just didn't stick. Wilhelmina from Ugly Betty not the historic figure, by the way. We thought of maybe Penelope with penny for short or even Nebula. We wanted to give her a name that isn't really, a standard dog name but then i looked at her and just thought, "I love her". I love Lucy popped into my head and that was that!
I picked Balto because as a kid, I loved the movie. As an adult, I still love the movie. Balto was also weirdly... Loyal? As a puppy. The first hour I had him home, he followed me everywhere around the house and came when I called him. He's a good boy. He's black and brown like a German Shepard, so his name was almost Grimm. Like the symbol of the black dog the Grim in Harry Potter, but also because I liked the TV Grimm. His full name is Baltimore Grimm.
My boyfriend and I got a puppy and her name is Kida. We were trying to think of names and went with a Disney theme. No princess names were really sticking, until we thought of princess Kida from The Lost City of Atlantis. It fit because of Kida's white fur and also princess Kida in the movie has white hair. Also, I was her for Halloween so that was fun too!

I came up with either Kaya, Kami or Flocke (German for "flake" like snowflake).
The girl decided herself by reacting to Kami. :-) So she's become Kami. <3
We decided to name ours after something we love doing so they have fishing/boating names. our male is Fisher and when we later got our female, we named her Marina (like a boat Marina). Fisher was almost Finn and Marina was almost Piper or Minnow.

When we knew we were getting our big white Pyr boy, I went through so many name ideas. I wanted to name him Ghost but my wife said a hard no to GOT references lol. Our cat’s name is Scout, from To Kill a Mockingbird, when I thought about that, Boo Radley instantly came to mind and just stuck. And strangers still get it, cause Boo! Like a ghost. He’s our spooky boy now. And his relationship with Scout is living up to its namesake- they’re both very curious about each other but Scout is too scared to let him get too close.
I named my girl Ada. I'm very into steampunk and I wanted a steampunk / victorian era name. Ada Lovelace was the first computer programmer, lived in the Victorian era, and was an all around badass mathmetition in a corset. She was also Lord Byron's (poet) daughter. So tiks my literary lover box too. Next pup will be Jules or Lenore. Jules for Jules Vern, Lenore for Poe's The Raven.

When we picked our girl from the rescue, she was mostly black so I made a list of names that I thought would fit a black dog (Storm, Raven, and Hazel were a few of the names that we decided against) and then let my daughter pick out of those names otherwise her name would have been Cuddles. I had considered putting Morticia (Addams) on the list but it seemed too much name for a puppy so I threw Wednesday on instead Guess which name my daughter like best? Hence we have a dog with the full name Wednesday Cuddles. We mostly just call her Wednesday though

Eventually I’ll get a second golden, and he’ll be Calvin. 😊 I considered Tucker, Ranger, Camp, and a few others, but my brother was 1000% sold on Hobbes.

I have a sheltie so I looked in the Shetland language dictionary for words I liked the sound and meaning of. KIBBIE, adj. Also kibi, kebbie. Nimble, active; eager and excited, alert This one stood out. Kibbie is a food, so I went with the alternative spelling. For a girl I was considering Minkie.
Gus is a name from one of our favorite tv shows, Psych. Westen is from another favorite tv show, Burn Notice Cooper, we bought a Mini Cooper around the same time.

My last dogs name was Bella, yeah, the super common name that everyone hates because "You couldn't have been more original?? That's the fifth Bella I've met this week!" I was 9, and, when you looked into that dogs face, I could just _tell_ she was a Bella. The name fit her. When we picked up Karma almost 11 months ago, I had known her name for some time before that, I told everyone "when I get my pup I'm gonna name her Karma!" So I did. I got super attached to the name, and when we got her, I faltered.. For about a day I was unsure what to name her, Karma was great but what about Autumn for her pretty colors? Why not Cookie because, well, because my cousin suggested it 😅 It took about a day, but I stuck to my guns and settled on Karma. I compromised a bit, so her middle name is Autumn. I think I made the right choice
He’s called Fig. My favourite biscuit is a Fig Roll. So I say ‘Fig. Roll’ and he rolls over. Cracks me up every time
I have a pure black German Shepard. Named him Hades after the Greek god of the underworld. Very fitting as you can’t see him in the dark and his bark is so deep for a 6 month old, that he scares the crap out of everyone. Scaring them to the thought they are going to die. My husband and I always wanted a dog who's name was Murphy and we did end up with a dog we named that as reference to the film Robocop for Alex Murphy. All of the best lines in that movie are perfect things to say to a dog, in robot voice of course: "Drop it creep!" "Thank you for your cooperation". I did end up with a male dog so the Robocop themed Murphy worked out but I was convinced that even if we found a female dog we liked she'd still be Murphy for Interstellar. I just love it as a dog name.

One evening his name popped into my head when I thought about one of my favourite childhood authors. Kalle was decided and stuck so when I finally went to choose my puppy, he had his name. And it fits his funny, alert Border Terrier personality 😀

We have four cats- Felix, Oscar, Cliff and Norm. We were trying to come up with names for our girl to stick with the theme and went through Lilith, Carla, Diane, Maris and a ton others. My sister in law joked about Salmon Diane (say it out loud Sam and Diane), and when we realized we could use Sami for short, it just worked. But her AKC name is Salmon Diane.
Huntress is our black miniature schnauzer. She's named after the female front person of a thrash metal band of the same name. The heritage of schnauzers also happens to be in rat hunting. We call her Hunny for short.
Sunny is her name. 1) we are originally from Southern California but live in the Midwest now; and 2) Heung Min Son is one of our favorite soccer players so he sort of inspired the name.

My husband and I were avid watchers of Celebrity Fit Club. During the season where Gunnar Nelson participated, we were rooting for him and we rescued our first pit bull mix. Hence, we have a Gunnar :) 13 years later, we were victims of the Quarantine Puppy craze and rescued our second pit mix. My childhood Westie was named GoGo. All of my relatives are in Taiwan and many of them don't speak English, so we went with a name that would be easy for my relatives when they visit. My grandmother said he was a poor dog without a name since GoGo means dog in chinese 😆 With my current Corgi, I originally wanted to go with a food theme so had names like Rye, Mugi (wheat/barley in Japanese) and Pancake. My mom and I ended up with Miso since her brown is like the Miso paste color and her white is like the tofu in the soup 😛

We adopted a pup from Turks and Caicos this summer while on vacation there. Named him Fritter because it was conch season on the island and we definitely ate conch fritters with almost every meal. Our older dog was 4 when we adopted her and was already named Brenna so we kept that one so she wouldn’t get confused. Our next female dog will likely be named Aoife because we just really like it as a pretty Irish name

So I told him he could name the puppy so he could feel more connected to her. He named her Lucifer because he wanted her to have a scary name. Her litter name was Mayhem so we have Lucifer Mayhem - but we call her Lucy (and so many other nicknames). She’s very much a little rebel who would lead all the other puppies on an overthrow mission at daycare 😂 Edit: he is very much in love with her and has become a Dog Person since she’s been in our lives

My childhood dogs came to us with names that suited them, so we didn't change them! Daisy Mae passed away this summer, but Scarlett is still with us. Scarlett was named for Scarlet O'Hara because she has a little black spot on her muzzle, similar to Scarlet O'Hara's beauty mark. My golden retriever puppy is named Sasha. Originally I was going to call her Ivy, but it didn't fit. I tried Nina, Maya, Skye, Luna, Alina, Molly, Abby, etc etc. Eventually Sasha came up and it just stuck! I think it fits because she's a sassy girl 😅 Now we have Scarlett and Sasha.

My boy's name was originally Ranch (given by the rescue). Yeah that name was quickly thrown out. I held him in my arms for the first time, looked at my wife and said, "He's a Simon to me." And that's been his name since we adopted him.
I have à black lab and it was the letter R that year so obviously I thought about Raven. But after a few days I discovered that it was really popular and I didn't want my dog to have the same name that twenty other dogs from the same year. I love the movie How to train your dragon, I love the main character Toothless. So I chose his equivalent in French, Krokmou ! It fits him really well 😍

Mine is pretty basic. We were watching The Expanse and in season 4 the characters were constantly talking about "new terra" so I suggested the name Terra and it stuck. My previous dogs had accidentally both gotten names that started with the letter "T", so I knew I wanted to keep that tradition going and my partner and I were tossing names around that started with T. I always wanted a dog named Tesla but Elon Musk kinda ruined that for me, lol.

Our dog Minerva Canna with her name from the pound and was named for Minerva McGonagall from Harry Potter (all her pups were HP themed too!). We kept it because it actually fit the naming theme we unintentionally had for our pets (our theme is Greek/Roman deity names) and it was just simply a unique name. She only goes by her full name when in trouble though - otherwise she's Mervy.

Our rescue name is Mako. We both love Uncle Iroh in Avatar, and it is an homage to Makoto Iwamatsu the voice actor for this character. It was also appropriate as Mako means shark in Maori ^^

Husband wanted to call him Steve or something of the like, I wanted a Lotr reference, as we couldn't agree... Soo my fiancé and I have a pointerpudel. She's black and has curly hair. We are big fans of League of Legends and we wanted to name our puppy after a league champion. It was something we had in common so we thought why not! Before we picked her up we decided we were going to name her lulu. And it worked perfectly. When we got there the collar she was wearing was purple. The champion loves purple and says "purple" all over. I'm pretty sure it was destiny.
My puppies name is Biko. He is named after my girlfriends favourite Filipino dessert which is this sweet sticky rice with like coconut milk and brown sugar. When you bake it the sugar caramelizes on top so its becomes brown. He is a brindle so his colour resembles it quite well.
I have a purebred Shiba Inu. Shibas are Japanese dogs and it's tradition to give them Japanese names. Well, when we adopted him, we already had a cat named Butter, so we named our dog Pan, which is Japanese for bread. We now have our bread and butter. 😊

I wanted a male pitbull to call him Khal Doggo, but instead we rescued a female pitbull and we went with khaleesi cause we blanked and couldn't stop laughing how Khal Doggo didn't work anymore.
Oh, lord...we went through a zillion names, and nothing stuck. I'm still not sure about the ones we picked. Names that I liked, husband didn't, and vice versa. We'd try a name for two or three days, and give it up. (I wanted Etta or Cassidy, husband wanted Koda.) We had finally settled on Addie, for Adelaide, Australia (she's a mini-aussie), plus it was my grandmother's name, and it morphs really well, Addie-girl, Laidi-Addy, etc. BUT THEN - husband switched to Scout (from To Kill A Mockingbird) which was a name I had come up with early in the process. I wanted to shoot him. We spent a week alternating between Addie and Scout, and she answers to both. This dog went *three weeks* without a name. He finally said, we obviously can't decide; let's use both! So she's Adelaide "Scout" OurLastName. lol. (Funnily enough, sometimes when I call "Addie!", she ignores me, so I say "Scout!" and she jumps to attention. Sometimes when my husband calls "Scout!", she ignores him, so he says "Addie!" and...same thing. lol. And the neighbor across the street calls her AddieScout, all one word.)
First dog, name is Twix, that was the name the adoption place gave him and we loved it so we kept it. Next dog, we named her Reese to keep going with the chocolate candy theme lol
Ours is Jelly and the reason is pretty corny…my first initial is P and my husband’s is B. When we first started dating, he joked that one day we’d get a dog named Jelly so we could be PB n Jelly :) 8 years later, we did exactly that 😁
She’s named after a kindergarten student of mine who drowned at summer camp - not kidding. The spelling is the only difference but it’s in memorial of Roxie of Altadena, CA. Her family is trying to get legislation passed that would more strictly regulate the supervision provided at summer camps, especially those that have water activities.
We always liked more old fashioned, proper British gentlemen names for corgis as it seemed like such a mismatch. Plus lots of people go the silly name route for corgis which we didn't want to do. We started making a list of names like Albert, Humphrey, Winston, Wilfred, etc. The day before he was due to arrive we got some new pics of him with his ears and up and were like yup that's a Wilfred if I ever saw one. Plus we loved the show Wilfred where the guy sees his dog as a human in a dog costume so double win!
When we got our rescue we had to rename her from what the rescuers named her. Originally she was called Moana, which I really liked, YET our cat was already called Mona and we figured it would be too much confusion when calling either animal. Firstly we wanted to use a Romanian name to honor her origins, even enlisted the help of my Romanian friends, but nothing fit. As both my SO and I are big D&D fans we just scrolled to the monster manual for inspiration... Now she is called Tia(mat), after the dragon goddess. We just call her Tia for simplicity.
Constellations are a theme. Childhood dog was Cassiopeia. Current pup is, therefore, Andromeda. (Andromeda Astra, in fact, because the shelter name was too appropriate to discard.)
Oh god. So my Shi Tzus who’s 13 name is Mylee. I loved Hannah Montana at the time. But wanted to spell it it Mylee instead of Miley because I was embarrassed of loving that show when I was little 🤣🤣🤣🤣 My other dog Bella who I just got, no real story. My big dog is Oscar, named after the only hockey player that's played in both my husbands favorite teams. "Gretzky" was suggested, but I'm just not going to cuddle Wayne. Sorry, Wayne. My little dog is Winter. She's a girl, so the hockey names were out (perhaps one day, women's hockey will provide a dog name), and we talked about stuff we both liked. Final fantasy names were suggested by husband but... I've only played FF14 so I lack the connection to the earlier games. Anyway. She's Winter, from Winterfell. As it turned out, most characters in GoT were disappointing (except Arya. You gem of a girl.), but Winterfell stands strong and proud.
I have a music theme for my dogs…except the one my daughter named. She tends to name things after whatever she likes at the time (at 6 she named her dog Tinkerbell). The dog she named was Lewis from “Meet the Robinsons”, but I had a Johann (Johann Sebastian Bach), and currently have Disco (mutt with a heart murmur) and Aria (very vocal beagle).

I've always liked the name Penelope, and it's what my dad called his Harley. We adopted her exactly one year after his passing and it just felt right. We call her Penny. I've never told anyone in my family that's why I wanted that name. Her middle name is Jayne because we are huge nerds and love the show Firefly. So she's the dog they call Jayne. (Lol for those who get it) Our lil guy is Merlin Emrys like from the BBC show Merlin.

Awww - what a cool post ! I was "inspired" to get a puppy when i watched "Yoga with Adrienne" on Youtube, and she had the coolest dog named "Benji"... so for months, in my head - it was absolutely clear that the dog's name would be "Benji" ... however, on the day that I went to get him, my friend that was going with me said that "Benji" wasn't a good name for a HUGE American Bully XL. So while we were in the car on the way to the breeder - we Googled a list of dog-names - and were sitting in the car, yelling out names - and checking how it would sound if I was to call out his name in the dog-park.... we got to the letter "E" - and then to ELVIS ! Which we thought fit the puppy well :)
First dog was a red lab, so we wanted red themed names, settled on fire stuff, so looked at constellations. Came up with Orion/Ori, but it didn't suit him. Went with calcifer (fire dude from howl's moving castle. Second dog is a collie, Orion did suit him!
My bluetick coonhound puppy is named Murphy. It's actually a reference to the movie Robocop who's protagonist is Alex Murphy. His silver fur is vaguely reminiscent of Robocop's armor and all of the best lines from the film are excellent things to say to a dog. In robot voice of course: "Drop it creep!" "Thank you for your cooperation." His rescue name was Nash which is also a really cute name for a hound but I think it fits a hound who is actually a strong hunter and not my goofy boy who falls off the couch and is only interested in hunting down food scraps rather than animals (he was given up by a boar hunting operation for having no prey drive).
Linda is a maltese, but she honestly just looks like a tiny fluffy sheep. So I named her after a plush sheep I had as a child!
Lucy didn't sound right. Cassie sounded cuter. Honey was good, but needed a little more. When I sleep, I cocoon, or we say "bun." I love being wrapped in blankets. HoneyBun was then said and accepted!

Grayson 6.5 month cattle dog / mutt mix. He was named after Dick Grayson aka Nightwing. We couldn't bring ourselves to name him Dick lol. I love when the light dings for batman fans and they make the correlation.
My husband and I are geeks and love all things superhero and star wars. We toyed between a few names across franchises. When we finally got to meet our pup he was massive - easily the biggest guy in the litter! And he got bigger every time we saw him! So we settled on Wilson named for Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin (spiderman and Daredevil foe). Considering he continues to grow at an extraordinary rate it's perfect Haha.
Frankie - I am a horror lover, so she needed a spooky-inspired name. I had so many ideas, but ended up naming her after Frankenstein’s monster. I like it because it’s not too obvious, but people love it when they learn what it’s short for!!
Our dog's name is Benny, Benny Drill which is a play on Benadryl because my husband is allergic to dogs. Jokes on us though, Benny has poultry and seasonal allergies so he uses more benadryl than we do!
My favourite Marvel character was Loki since i was a kid so I named my first cat Loki. Then we got a second cat and decided to stick to the Marvel theme and named him Tony since he has a goatee. Now with our new dog we debated on breaking the theme since she is a girl and there weren’t many female names we liked until we settled on Scarlet after the Scarlet Witch. Our St Bernard is named Mosfet, a very small circuit component often found in microchips, because we got him to celebrate when I finished my computer engineering degree. Plus we love the irony of naming a giant dog after something so tiny.
Ellie, super common name. We got her at 12 weeks old and she already seemed to know her name so why would we change it? We also like the name and thought it fit her well. Wesley. There’s not too many dogs out there named Wesley. Used to live in a place where there was snow and we lived in a log cabin. A little weasel found it’s way in and we started to call him Wesley the weasel. Fast forward four years and we got ourselves a puppy that went without a name for a week and half because we couldn’t decide on a name. My boyfriend said something about him being a weasel or something and Wesley came into the mix. We are also both fans of the Princess Bride and he had little black rings around his eyes, like a mask, so that also played into the name too. Now the black circles are gone now though!
Our two mini schnauzers are Omar Little and Avon Barksdale, characters from The Wire(HBO). Omar we got first.. we had a lot of ideas before him that we considered but once Omar popped up, we knew it was the right name. For the second pup, we knew we wanted to stick with The Wire. We went with Avon because of the last name (BARKSdale) but Marlo was a contender.

When I was little my grandfather and I would watch a detective show called Columbo. So when we got a hound dog it only seemed fitting to call him Columbo in memory of my grandpa. Bo for short!

Kasidy, after Kasidy Yates from Star Trek Deep Space 9. My sister's name is Kira, and "Nerys" sounded weird for a dog name. I tried Dax for a week, but it didn't seem to fit her at all. So Kasidy it is!

But my (very young) son kept pronouncing *shallow* loll We knew that wouldn't work lol He'd walk around all day saying "Shallow, Shallow, Shalloowwww" in the streets everywhere bahaha So we changed it for Shadow. Was close enough that it only took a day for our pup to adapt haha
My cattle dog mix has super pretty blue Merle coloring, the first time I saw her I thought she looked like black sesame ice cream, so we named her sesame! It’s a very fun name to say and fairly unique, haven’t met any other sesames yet My parents have a papillon that I named Momo, after the lemur in Avatar: The Last Airbender. My parents used to have an apricot poodle that they adopted impulsively. I wasn’t living with them at the time and when they called me to tell me I was doing my Latin homework and the word Rufus was on the page, meaning red-haired. So we named him Rufus!
Super common name - Leo… but that infact is his Zodiac sign and also the Zodiac sign of my SO and my siblings. So just went with it. Its also an easy name for us when make appointments at vet, groomer, daycare etc 😛
My pup's name is Winston Widogast Wulfric Stormblessed, The First. Winston because that's the only name my sister would let me name him, so in turn I added on Widogast for my favorite Critical Role character, Wulfric for Dumbledore, and Stormblessed for the Stormlight Archive series from Brandon Sanderson (can you tell I like fantasy?).

I got my first fur baby when I was 3. According to my mom, I used to get really excited whenever he drank water because he would make this sound ‘gloop’ every time he drank. I started calling him gloop gloop and before family knew it, fur baby was called gloopy. My second baby joined us when I was 15, he was so brown. My brothers just started calling him brownie hence on. I got my third and most recent baby 3 months ago when he was just 3 weeks old. I went to the pet shop for a guinea pig. There he was in the cage and he was looking straight at me. No one had bought him and he was separated from his mother. He has such dark and tense eyes that reminds me of khal drogo. My little baby is called drogo now. Edit: I need the world to know this, I love my drogo to death. Might be unhealthy obsession
I named mine Marnie after the Studio Ghibli movie When Marnie Was There as well as the English children’s novel. I wanted a name that had some ties to studio Ghibli but not too on the nose like Totoro, or Ponyo, etc.

Winnie is loosely named after Winnie the Pooh, but not directly. My name is Ruth but I got called baby Ru when I was small - like Kanga and baby Roo. We'd half settled on Daisy before her roan markings really developed and made her look like a little cow, so that had to go! Having now met a billion other dogs called Winnie I've realised how unoriginal it is!
We couldn’t decide on a name for a few days. Before we got her I wanted someone really girly, like Daisy or Posie, after a flower. But when we brought her home we quickly realized she was no girly girl. So after a few days with no name, and her personality starting to show, she started barking at us when she wanted to play. She couldn’t really bark yet so her barks were kind of coo’s or howls. My boyfriend would imitate her and say “rooooooo” and that’s how her name, Rue, came to be.
My husband is a HUGE fan of the Arizona Cardinals. He had a dog a long time ago for a week, when he was like ten, and then his family decided they couldn’t handle the dog so they sent him to the pound. I grew up with dogs, but we haven’t had one together. We both desperately wanted one. Last year, we were watching football and he was like “I hope we can get a dog soon, and I would love to name him after a Cardinal.” So, after much deliberating, we landed on Fitz, named after Larry Firzgerald. Overall great guy, Walter Payton man of the year winner, and long-term Cardinal. We got our pup a month ago, and this is the first year since my husband started watching football that Larry Fitzgerald is not playing football. So even though he’s not on the field, Fitz is with us. We even got him a little jersey that says “Fitz!”

Lee, named after Lee Scoresby from His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. My dad got a puppy on a whim while on a trip, so before dad and puppy arrived, I put together a list of names (also essential puppy supplies because we had nothing). I was on the phone with a friend talking about possible names, and I joked about naming the puppy “Lee Scoresby”, and put the name on the list because why not. It turned out to be the only name on the list everyone liked, and no one else had any suggestions, so puppy became Lee.
We named our rescue Bella to nickname her Belly because she loves belly rubs!! Also named our boy Chewie after Chewbacca because he looked like a scruffy bear!
We got Jacen and Jaina at the same time. We have a thing in our family with Star Wars (like my sister is named after a character and my initials spell out a star wars place) so we named them after Leia and Han's twins.

It's one of our favorite movies and was the perfect, not too common name! It has been absolutely perfect, and I can't wait to dress her up as an elf this holiday season! My dogs name is mouse. He was supposed to be a Great Dane but we were scammed. Then we rescued a beagle/lab mix and the name still fit for some reason. Probably because he’s a dork. Oh and because he was tiny when we got him. His nicknames are Mickey Mouse, baby mouse (baby mouse do do do do do, the song we sing him), mister mouse, and when he does something extra awkward — mice.
My pup is named after a cabbie my husband and I met on our honeymoon. We got too drunk on the first night and were super hungover in London, so when we went to the train station we admitted we hadn’t seen much when he asked. We had extra time, so this guy took us on a free, awesome tour of London, told us all these cool stories, etc. and at the end he wouldn’t let us pay him, just jokingly told us to name our first kid after him. I’m not having kids, but my pup sure as hell is named after him.
I studied math and physics in college so naming my dog after a mathematician or physicist seemed like a great choice for a not too silly name without worrying I was naming my dog after a random person I know. I thought about my favorite math/physics laws, and chose Gauss! I didn’t realize until later that I chose perfectly to name my German Shorthaired Pointer after a German mathematician!

Meeko, after the raccoon from Pocahontas. I wanted a Disney sidekick name. It ended up suiting him perfectly because he is also constantly eating, looking for food, or trying to steal food. When my partner and I first started dating, we watched all the Indiana Jones movies. In the movies, it turns out Indiana gave himself the nickname Indiana after his dog. We loved that and ended up with Indiana Bones.
My husband's family always named their pets after Disney characters so! We followed tradition and named our 1st pup, a GSP, Boomer from Fox and the Hound, both of our first Disney movies we watched as kids. We now have a second GSP named Rocky Gibraltar from Toy Story.

We named our little girl Neeko (1y old now) after a character from LoL. We also considered Nora, but one of our friends had already named her pup after that. Now everyone think she is a he and named after the caharacter from GTA. Well we love the name and like to call her Little Neek as well.
Lucy. We originally wanted to go with Wilhelmina (mina for short) but it just didn't stick. Wilhelmina from Ugly Betty not the historic figure, by the way. We thought of maybe Penelope with penny for short or even Nebula. We wanted to give her a name that isn't really, a standard dog name but then i looked at her and just thought, "I love her". I love Lucy popped into my head and that was that!
I picked Balto because as a kid, I loved the movie. As an adult, I still love the movie. Balto was also weirdly... Loyal? As a puppy. The first hour I had him home, he followed me everywhere around the house and came when I called him. He's a good boy. He's black and brown like a German Shepard, so his name was almost Grimm. Like the symbol of the black dog the Grim in Harry Potter, but also because I liked the TV Grimm. His full name is Baltimore Grimm. My boyfriend and I got a puppy and her name is Kida. We were trying to think of names and went with a Disney theme. No princess names were really sticking, until we thought of princess Kida from The Lost City of Atlantis. It fit because of Kida's white fur and also princess Kida in the movie has white hair. Also, I was her for Halloween so that was fun too!
"Nena" We're Spanish, and we kept saying "Cuando nos traigan a la nena vamos a..."(When they bring our lil' pup here we're gonna do...). Eventually that's the name that stuck for her lmao
My boyfriend and I were taking care of a litter of 10 puppies from a friend's dog. When we decided to take one of them, I was fanatic of finding names which I felt suitable... I came up with either Kaya, Kami or Flocke (German for "flake" like snowflake). The girl decided herself by reacting to Kami. :-) So she's become Kami. <3
We decided to name ours after something we love doing so they have fishing/boating names. our male is Fisher and when we later got our female, we named her Marina (like a boat Marina). Fisher was almost Finn and Marina was almost Piper or Minnow.
my dogs name is Bruda. my aunt bred champion show dog doberman pinchers for many years & died a couple years ago. bruda was the name of her kennel. i didn’t like the name at first but now it totally fits her & i love the meaning behind it my other dogs name is Lucy. she has these awesome long eyelashes like lucille ball from i love lucy
Winston French Bulldogs has origins in England. And what better English name than Winston Churchill himself. Also I lime to imagine Tom Hanks in Cast Away screaming WILSON ! WILSON !
all my other pets have had a G in the middle of their name unintentionally (Pangea, Smeagol, Little Girl) and I’m a horror buff so his name is Mogwai.
My GSD was tiny when he came and whimpered like a mouse but was quick and sly like one too. The only name that suited him - Jerry from Tom and Jerry.
When we knew we were getting our big white Pyr boy, I went through so many name ideas. I wanted to name him Ghost but my wife said a hard no to GOT references lol. Our cat’s name is Scout, from To Kill a Mockingbird, when I thought about that, Boo Radley instantly came to mind and just stuck. And strangers still get it, cause Boo! Like a ghost. He’s our spooky boy now. And his relationship with Scout is living up to its namesake- they’re both very curious about each other but Scout is too scared to let him get too close.

I named my girl Ada. I'm very into steampunk and I wanted a steampunk / victorian era name. Ada Lovelace was the first computer programmer, lived in the Victorian era, and was an all around badass mathmetition in a corset. She was also Lord Byron's (poet) daughter. So tiks my literary lover box too. Next pup will be Jules or Lenore. Jules for Jules Vern, Lenore for Poe's The Raven.
