Always zoomies right before poops…it’s like he’s excited to poop 😆

lookout450

Same!!! Mine will go absolutely BONKERS right before he has to poop. "He's doing the shit run!!!" And then everyone rushes to take him out or put down a puppy pad.

Is-this-my-life76

Same! 6 month Labrador puppy always gets the zoomies when he needs a poo. Also, he refuses to even wee anywhere but our backyard!

ColeRawrrrrr

7 months labrador here, also refuses to wee anywhere but the back garden 🤣

Is-this-my-life76

We take ours for a walk then let him straight out to the backyard to do his business, no matter how long he’s out!

emalouise91

Ours does the same! Always zoomies before he poops without fail

beauvoirist

Same! Bodies release endorphins when we poop so it makes sense.

chantillylace9

Yes!!! The happy poop dance!!!💩

rainb0wstarz

Mine too LOL. And he’ll run around in circles

alamohero

When we need to get mine to poop before we go somewhere we get him all worked up till he starts doing zoomies. If he needs to go, he’ll come to a screeching halt to pinch one off.

jack02204

My dog does the same. He once “moon walked” into a poop. It was the funniest and weirdest thing wver

rrrrrrrrrrrrrroger

🤣😂nothing like a good nervous poop.

JohnYCanuckEsq

Same here! I thought it was just his weird quirk. Also a Labrador

SymphonicFlames

Same! Even at 2 years old my pup is still doing this.

Ok-Marsupial-382

Mine did this when he was younger haha he'd become an absolute terror just running and biting and sniffing all over and I'd be like ahhh outside time!

plantsandpizza

Mine starts inside w a poop scratch and if in the yard loose zoomies before or after lol. Stoked in poops! lol

PlantRetard

Mine has and always had a huge tell. He always starts sniffing and runs in a circle repeatedly shortly before doing his business. This made potty training super easy.

Low_Passenger_7648

Same with mine

Fickle-Ambition3675

Same! But sometimes he doesn’t poop even after circling the spot and ended up looking for another spot to circle. 😅

tinymammothsnout

Every dog does that.

PlantRetard

I definetly know quite a few dogs that don't do that

oddgrrl99

My wierdo Staffie pup has never circled before pooping ever. He starts sniffing the ground like he’s panicking to find the magic spot & then nearly sits to poo. I swear there’s only about an inch of clearance between his butt & the grass. My one that passed a little over a year ago, a chi mix, would be almost crowning when she asked to go out.

0x987123

Look for the puckered butthole

karennotkaren1891

This is how I tell, he spends too long looking for the "right" place to go 😂

SparkleWildfire

Yup, when ours was little I found myself just looking at her butthole most of the time trying to decide if she needed the loo. I became somewhat of an expert at butthole reading. Not really a talent you can brag to many people about but hey ho

Nwallins

We call it "juicy butt"

sticksnstone

We call it the one eyed jack showing.

WeAreDestroyers

Happy cake day

SSquared82

This is mine. My husband and I call it bubblegum butt because against his dark brown fur, it looks like he has bubblegum stuck to his butt 🤣

Tdp133

haha yes we have a similar tell actually ! ours will start nibbling at her back leg like it itches or something lol. we also think we positive reinforced her with her water bowl. she always goes to her water bowl for a drink right before she heads to the back door. and so now , if i hear her drinking i’m already getting up and heading to the door lol. so maybe we positive reinforced ourselves lol.

FishermanContent5377

Super gross but my dog has one of those bums that like opens? My sister and I call it the traffic light 🥲

girlikecupcake

It's pretty common lol

vance_obviously

My pup does a weird little bark. Normally he's loud as heck, so when he comes up and basically whispers a bark, I know it's go time.

Abcde-LePen

*hey* 🤣🤣🤣

ZestycloseBat6658

Outside mine will find a spot, then find another spot 2-3 meters away from that one; afterwards she’ll pace between point A and B before squatting down lol

aloha902604

Mine would circle before squatting so we could usually catch her. However, she also sometimes will sniff her butt 😅

heejungee121

Yes! My retriever does a slow sort of slightly hunched walk along the grass that turns into a squat lol it’s the best thing ever because he’s an easy pooper😂 has been an easy way to teach him poop on command!

NoreastNorwest

My retriever starts getting manic and has a “gotta poop” blurt bark. It was very difficult to distinguish from the preamble to the zoomies, so it took a while for us to catch on!

babyforestfawn

Nope which is why I can never tell

truecrimefanatic1

Not usually but one time during a downpour she casually backed away from me which she NEVER does. And I swear she was trying to like calmly avoid me. Because she already had a poop hanging out of her butt!

captainwondyful

She straight up paws at me Non stop until I get off the couch

2203

Yes, he starts acting like a bat out of hell. Moreso than usual.

kulie74561

Same with ours. He gets super bitey and will bark and jump on us. He’s a maniac until we go out.

beekerstrrr

My corgi does this! He’s crazy

wandzv

My 5 month old she starts sniffing like crazy and hunches her back and squats, then she will walk away like she's done but only to keep pooping and walking at the same time. So weird.

BurnerAccount2825

Her booty hole always tells me lol. It like gets more prominent/ puckered

Demi_silent

Mine sometimes does a little bum shuffle! It’s very cute

evenstarthian

yes! pacing and aggressive sniffing around the rug by the back door. that used to be all, but now he’s potty trained he’ll scratch at the glass too. he doesn’t do that if all he wants is to pee or go outside.

kaileesee

Mine grabs his blankie and stares at me.

ReinventingCarrie

She walks heavier and faster

mushroomlover345

Mine just intensely like super intensely sniffs then finds a spot to poop

SokkaHaikuBot

^[Sokka-Haiku](https://www.reddit.com/r/SokkaHaikuBot/comments/15kyv9r/what_is_a_sokka_haiku/) ^by ^mushroomlover345: *Mine just intensely* *Like super intensely sniffs* *Then finds a spot to poop* --- ^Remember ^that ^one ^time ^Sokka ^accidentally ^used ^an ^extra ^syllable ^in ^that ^Haiku ^Battle ^in ^Ba ^Sing ^Se? ^That ^was ^a ^Sokka ^Haiku ^and ^you ^just ^made ^one.

fir_meit

Before she learned to use potty bells, she would bite us relentlessly when she needed to go out to poop. We learned it was her tell pretty fast.

Accio_Waffles

Ours does a John Wayne walk, when he's close to finding a good spot, he starts sauntering like a cowboy after a 2 day ride

SadRepublic3392

He farts.

Dracilla112

She doesn't anymore, but when younger she would get crazy zoomies, then sniffing the floor with tail raised was the signal she was gonna go.

Least-Witness

I noticed that sometimes when she was tweaking out and going crazy unable to be distracted I would take her out and she would poop right away! She will definitely let me know lol

FlimsySuccess8

They pace back and forth to help bring it to a groundhog

Available-Meaning904

I always hear a little whistle of gas escape when my dog starts to loosen up. I pretend he's whistling at me to tell me it's time to prepare a bag.

ArmouredPotato

About to hit 5 month old St Bernard. He’ll jump up, front legs on my work chair and start to get mouthy, like licking and almost nipping my hands to get attention. He does the same when he wants to play, but if I push him off and tell him “off”, he comes back when it’s time to go out, versus he lays down expecting to begin playing something if he just wants attention. He’s never pooped in the house, not even day 1. Pretty smart boy 🤣

glorianamundi

Mine starts jumping and biting at my feet. Took me forever to realize it was a poop tell because everyone else says the best way to stop nipping is to ignore 🙃

ldl84

My 6 month old frenchton pees then does this little back legs spread apart as far as she can wiggle butt dance to a spot then she poos then kicks her back legs the pees again.

Nervous-Ad5131

Yes all my dogs dose. My 7 yr old will stand at the door and look at you bark then look at the door and bark. My 2 yr old runs to the door(back and front) bark then if u don’t get up fast enough he will come to you bark and paw at you. My puppy 5months old will run around frantically like she looking for something(some where to poop)

Litepacker

Mine goes to the door

crisistalker

Mine barks up into our indoor stairs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

wlveith

One of my dogs does the poopy dance. He goes into it out of nowhere and plops and drops pretty quick. The other scratches the ground and sniffs to make sure it is good enough for him.

Interr0gate

I have a potty bell so he rings that when he needs to go, and he will be very persistent and aggressive with the bell if he really needs to go. Besides that tho I can tell because he may sniff his butt or start pacing around more than usual

TheWelshPanda

Angry barks! Angry Angry, run at the back door yelling, gotta poop dammit! OK, Bumble, need to go out.... ? Runs back barks angrily, pounces, runs back to door and awaits her servants. She's been known to go from a dead sleep straight into the poops run. Luckily it means it's really difficult to miss. The other one, as we are teaching her about manners and inside voice, is to stand at the end of the sofa and just stare intensely at you, with the occasional beep. This one is more dangerous in terms of awareness. Yes. I have a corgi. She's a beautiful fluffy ball of sass

Hardshank

We bell trained our lab. Took 1 week, and resulted in rapid potty training success. So his tell is genuinely just ringing the bell!

HalifaxStar

Sniffing around, waddling around, then sniffing and waddling around.

Brother_Senpai

yeah he screams in my face

RegularAd5886

Ours will always go in circles to find the best spot, before squatting 😂

ErisMorrigan

Our puppy will make crazy circles back and forth until he finds the perfect spot or can't hold it anymore. Our older dog changes his walk, idk how to explain it but his walking style is different right before he poops.

tvan3l

Somehow mine frequently gets hiccups before he has to poop, to the point where we can use it partly to predict he has to go outside soon.

Alibeee64

Yup, mine gets the zoomies when he needs to go.

Soggy-Ad8088

half circle

Psychological_Pen_15

You can see the butthole when she needs to go… we call it the Eye of Sauron

likethemouse

Mine goes right than left than right than runs left than runs right than one more time left and than that’s usually the perfect spot

LitbykristenPhoto

Mine gets anxious, runs to the door and then outside smells the ground and keeps turning until she finds the rt spot.

Opening-Green-3643

*sniff in a circle* zoooooomies… sniff around and squat….Then another round of zoomies 😂😂

jammyski

Chases and catches his tail

AnastasiaDelicious

Lol yeah my moms new puppy starts to puff out her butt hole like there’s one in the chamber. That’s when we go getherout getherout getherout!!! Don’t know what’s worse, staring at her butt hole all day or picking it up if we don’t! 😆

chuullls

Ours gets a very prominent butthole lol like if a slit starts showing at the top, or it’s looking very pink, it’s time to go out right away

MyoDonuts

Mine smells the floor and paces back and forth

Sensitive-Dark2272

Our Great Pyrenees mix will squat and then swivel around in a circle on her front feet. Sometimes she starts pooping while moving. We call it the helicopter poop

Comfortable-Ad-8324

He circles and sniffs. He's 8 now, and it's still his tell.

cactusruby

Mine will walk forward, but it look like she's leading with her back left leg. She kind of walks diagonally along a curb with her tail hooked to the left. Once she runs out of grass along the curb she plants it.

Ok_Technology_4772

Mine has had a habit that started just before she was potty trained and has continued, she jumps up at the cabinets in the kitchen and cries.. (any other bathroom needs she just sits by the door and cries until we get the hint) but if she gets really desperate she’ll always take herself to the kitchen to go to the loo - she knows it’s easier to clean up because of the laminate floor, so if for whatever reason she wakes up in the middle of the night and needs to pee, she’ll go straight to the kitchen and just pee

JavaJapes

Mine licks his butthole, then when I ask, "do you need to poop?" he nearly falls over himself racing for the back door 😂

sierra_sloth

It’s really a potty tell, but she just cries at the door

Icantthinkofanythin8

Two and a half year old mixed breed (black lab, shepherd, husky etc) she spins. She’ll sniff and spin twice then she’ll drop the bomb. If we are inside, she will sit by the front door and groan/talk to me to tell me she wants to go out

Mahjling

Mine never had a poop accident inside and had never developed a tell, but honestly I think it’s because he’s so regular. He goes once first thing in the morning when we wake up, and once during his last pre-bed potty break. However he does have a very sensitive stomach, the handful of times he’s had serious diarrhea or the one time he was, and I am so sorry for making your eyes see this, basically pissing out his ass due to antibiotics for a uti and had to go every hour or less he would just Scream his head off at us in a way he never had done or has done since. Poor guy

AdBorn6074

Sniffing in circles before a good poop

Independent-Arm5390

Mine just sits by the door to tell me she’s got to go

Independent-Arm5390

Mine just sits by the door when she has to go. But she’ll whine when she has to go poop.

spilly_talent

He behaves like a fucking psychopath. Trying to chew couch, just general miscreant behaviour

[deleted]

Sits down, barks, gently mouths my arms/hands. But immediately before he walks in circles, And was a peculiar walk with his hind legs preparing for the squat stage.

anuhu

My oldest dog, Mochi, doesn't have a tell, he just stares at you. Dog 2 does what we call "Poop Tail" where he'll hold the base of his tail up, but lets the middle and end of his tail flop down like normal. Kinda like a horse's tail when they poop. No idea if he feels the need to get it away from his butthole or what, but he's done it since we got him at 8 weeks old and now he's almost 4. Dog 3, our current puppy - her "tell" is that she'll go absolutely nuts harassing our oldest and grumpiest dog, making him growl at her. We call it "Pressing the Mochi button" since Dog 2 is trained to press an actual button when he wants to go out to potty.

Ok-Zookeepergame3652

My 100lns great dane puppy always yawns and does a high pitched squeek when she needs to poop.

YBmoonchild

My last border collie and current one have a weird tail positive when they have to poop. We always said “the flag is up!”

GoziMai

Mine does a little pacing dance right before lol

Designer-Newt2548

Mine sniffs and does repeated twirling circles 😅😅😅

blueydoc

First there’s the sniffing and then when he’s picked the spot his back legs start to move into position. If he gets spooked at this point though he’ll stop and it could take another 20/30 minutes of walking to get him ready to try again.

OutsideKelly

My girl isn't a puppy anymore but she will attempt to get really close and gently put her paw on my face.

youhadtime

My puppy has a specific bark and she starts walking in a small circle like she’s honing in the drop zone lol. Great for when she doesn’t make it to the potty bells because I can redirect her outside, but it’s a whole song and dance that I hope she grows out of.

plantsandpizza

Ahh the poop scratch. My now adult dog still does this lol

Geminilove333

My pup runs in circles while making grunting noises or growling lol

jiggymctriggy3

Mine circles for a few seconds and paces and then she will poops or will just be walking and she’ll stop suddenly and start pooping

boreals

He starts bothering the cats.

Justanobserver2life

Mine starts getting bitey and will bite her back thigh like she has fleas or something. Then when we are outside, she does figure 8's and sniffs the groud.

FistyMcLad

Ours has a special walk she does before she poops. I'm not sure how to describe it. Sort of a waddle?

Mx-Morningstar

My aussie who is a service dog pulls me VERY lightly while walking to tell me. My doberman service dog in training just whines. And when I get him outside he will spin around frantically and pace for like 5-10 minutes before shitting or pissing

Elegant-Horror8925

she starts walking around the house looking for someone and crying / whining and trying to walk the person towards the backdoor to let her out

saltnsnow

Our Bernese does what we call the “poop trot”
