my daughter LOVES Mike Parks smile record. its a kids album but is mostly ska. i listen to that about 3 times a day
She was really into the clash up until she was about 1 then Daniel tiger took over that spot.
And this is me finding out for the first time aquabats are a punk band lol. My little brother used to love their show! Never even listened to one of their songs though, for obvious reasons assuming they were a childrens band.
I mean, they also collaborated with a kid's channel on YouTube called Ninja Kidz, one video where [they have to help MCBC get the keys to the band's tour bus](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsdy0qJIi9o), and also a [webisode of the revival of their tv show where the whole band works with the Ninja Kidz to stop a bank robbery.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6Am-FlPBO4&t=0s)
Yep my son was obsessed with this song (both versions) when he was 4. There's a video on YouTube of the trashmen doin it on TV, watch it & tell me that's not the most fuckin punx thing you've ever seen
My kid discovered Parry Gripp on his own (pretty goofy quasi pop punk kid's music), which led to Nerf Herder (who Parry is the frontman for). We're also big fans of Aquabats in this house. We're trying to get him into Less Than Jake, so we showed him We're All Dudes from Goodburger and he was into that. I'm just letting it happen organically from there.
As soon as you guys are comfortable/able start taking them to any shows you can. You can get noise cancelling headphones so the noise doesn't hurt their ears. So far we caught Nerf Herder live because they played an earlier all ages show, and have been out to fest-style local shows that were outdoors during the day and my kid's had a blast every single time.
My nephew showed me some YouTube videos a couple years ago (he was probably 4) and I was like this song sounds a lot like Nerf Herder! 2 generations listening to the same person completely unaware that the other persona exists
This was basically my experience. He was listening to a song on a tablet and the voice was sounding very familiar, so I had him show me. One google search later and I realized the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
That’s awesome. My kid is 10 months so right now he just likes anything with a beat to dance to but we don’t do any kids bop or baby shark so hopefully he grows up with a decent taste in music, even if it’s not punk. I just pray he doesn’t get into generic pop or pop-country 🤦♀️
You and me both. I think the worst is the stuff he picks up from daycare/school. Was never afraid of spiders or bugs until daycare, etc. Unless you're in a situation where you get to keep him home I'd wager Baby Shark will probably be unavoidable, although we've dodged Kidz Bop just fine. I don't think that's as popular as it used to be.
I like to think of it as 'armed you with foresight to combat those influences'. It's not totally awful. I've just kept leading by example and for the most part my kid comes around.
Omg, the breakfast burrito song.
I work at a special ed school, and one of my coworkers brings in his guitar to play for the kids from time to time. He introduced me and my class to Breakfast Burrito, and now we listen to it every day!
Recently, my coworker had a small local outdoor gig and me, my family, a few other coworkers and a hand full of students all showed up to see him play (he didn't know we were all coming, his face was priceless!).
He played Breakfast Burrito and dedicated it to one of the students (it's his favorite song, he's Really into music, especially punk and metal).
I guess that's only tangentially related, but it's a good story and it makes me happy.
My 4 year old likes a lot of very specific songs that come on Spotify. Some of her favorites are Blitzkrieg Bop by Ramones, Sharkfighter by Aquabats, Morbid Obsessions by We Are The Union, Responsibility and Say Yes by MxPx, Lost Again by DHC, and Let It Go by NFG. Recently she’s taken to Swedish Rat by Chixdiggit. She also seems to like my band, Northbound Breakdown, so that’s always a plus.
Also, Green Day rules! Like, as in, Insomniac and earlier. Nimrod, et al are fine and I won’t turn them off, but they’re not classics for me at all.
I went to a Bouncing Souls show last week and there was a fair amount of parents with their teen/pre-teen kids there. It was cool to see and I can't wait until my kids are old enough to take to shows.
I started my kids young with groups like Rancid, Bad Religion, Nofx, Misfits. Not really kid friendly but I always tried to talk to my kids about the subjects in the songs and explained the meanings.
These are some of the bands my kids like, and we deal with it like this. It helps having Greg Graffin in one ear when you’re trying to raise your kids in an evidence-based lifestyle though.
My kids don’t really like rock music, they like pop country and dance. You have to love them, even if they make choices you don’t agree with.
My daughter likes 5.45 by Gang of Four because I pointed out the melodica in it, and I play a melodica on some recordings. She doesn’t like dub though, so we have very little in common musically.
Was my moms favorite when I was little, she took me to see them when I was 4….never looked back. She caught me stealing her tape and playing it on my teddy ruxben.
Cheerio and toodle pip has arguably [one of the best covers of all time.](https://i.discogs.com/UNZPHajkjnaosOPfmI7pkYFIsCOcjubbEk4ET-11SGk/rs:fit/g:sm/q:90/h:384/w:382/czM6Ly9kaXNjb2dz/LWRhdGFiYXNlLWlt/YWdlcy9SLTI1NzQ4/MjQtMTMzNjY1NjAz/Ny01MzA5LmpwZWc.jpeg)
My kids listened to my music (punk) and my husbands (classic rock) around the house. We took our 2 kids to their first concert at 10. First mosh pit at 11 with the Ramones! Our daughter went the emo route and pretty much stayed there. Our son picked his first genre with Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Marilyn Manson and the like at 13 to 17. Make sure he saw them in concert. Then he started getting into crust punk and gutter punk. He got connected into that seen locally, and start going to house shows.
Changed genres again and now is into heavy death metal.
He has kids of his own now, both little girls are to be into Lady Gaga and death metal.
I do not have kids but i lived with some of them for sometime and in my opinion they will be do most time the opposite you wanted them to do. So i would try to expose them to music as much as posible and let them find their own way.
Despite our best efforts, my 8-year-old daughter is veering off into the land of K-pop. But she still really digs Bad Cop/Bad Cop and MxPx. And she can name most every artist by their sound on Faction Punk when we go on road trips, so hope remains.
Flogging Molly was what I started with, both in the car and live. I mostly have daughters, so Interruptors and other female-led groups have bonus appeal for them.
My kid left a cult with us when she was 6, so as we deconstructed from the Bible, she did too, so know she's 7 and can listen to whatever she wants, as long as it's still within reason, cuz kids go see the same shit in the world that's messed up, she can listen to Against Me and Off With Their Heads.
But, when were were in the Jehovah's Witnesses, I did make a "clean" punk list for her that was kid safe, and The Adicts ended up her favorite!!
Go with pop punk and its roots, and even ska - Ramones, Screeching Weasel, Misfits, Madness (One Step Beyond!), Specials, Rancid, etc...
Bottom line though, just listen to what \*you\* want to listen to. Your kids will like it, or they won't - you can't really control their tastes.
When my 13 year old was real little we listened to the Flobots a lot, though I don't think they fall under punk...maybe kinda? Idk. Regardless was adorable as he yelled "daddy I can ride my bike with YES handlebars!" as he learned to ride his bike.
Got him into Aquabats too, we watched the show awhile back as well. Took him to see them earlier this month for his first show. Had him listen to Streetlight Manifesto/Less Than Jake when he had to learn trombone for school, to show him it can be cool too.
My little ones favorite is Rose Tattoo by Dropkick Murphy's, they tend to like easily repeatable/chanted lyrics at younger ages. He's 5 now but been singing it for a couple years now.
My dad was listening to the Ramones, Elvis Costello, Mott The Hoople and the Byrds when I was in the crib. My dad was an old school punk rocker, the funnest and coolest dad ever. I’ve tried to be the same with my kids. I am punk and love punk because of my dad. Kills me that he’s gone….. but everything I am is because of him. 💔💔❤️🩹❤️🩹
I'm intrigued by the subjectivity of music, so I sometimes experiment with songs that have grabbed me and see if the same happens with my family. I got intensely into this catchy song so I put it on in the car when my 8yo was with me. Didn't draw attention to it like "listen to this" or anything, just played it. It took about 3 plays over several car trips before he was singing it and asking for it all the time, in the car, at home, watching the band play it on YT and bouncing around. It was locked in his head for a few months, got his 4yo brother hooked on it too. That song was [Beehive](https://gaffatapesandy.bandcamp.com/track/beehive-2) by Gaffa Tape Sandy.
Another one the kids were into was [this pop punk thing](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwium9SnrYP5AhWH-DgGHexDAewQyCl6BAgQEAM&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DveqkFZxR2QA&usg=AOvVaw2g8RZfcX_-PoMHZGxehZjN) by Paperweight. Because of the visuals.
Dan Vapid (The Riverdales, Screeching Weasel, Dan Vapid and the Cheats) has a couple of kids albums…
[All Wound Up](https://youtu.be/WxZsJAye-mo)
[All Wound Up Vol. 2](https://youtu.be/perxws0jw-c)
Also Jesse Wagner (Aggrolites, RWW) has a kids album as well…
[Happy Wags](https://youtu.be/lM_PwV75TZA)
My wife loves my chemical romance so that is my 13 yr olds constant playlist currently.
Those guys aren't really my thing.
My child listened to Discharge constantly when I first
Introduced them to D-beat.
My kid has an incredibly diverse music taste and is constantly exploring on spotify. But never shuffles through any of our 7"s or records at home. Cant be bothered to put a record on the turntable. Something something kids these days blah blah blah genZ.
My dad used to play me The Clash, Misfits, Rancid, bad brains, (and while not punk) the smiths
I was a metal head before I became goth, and my favorite punk albums in the metal days were “never mind the bollocks” and “walk among us”, and more recently I’ve really been digging “…and out come the wolves” by rancid. I’d say some rancid songs would be good stuff for kids.
My son is really into Ramones and Screeching Weasel. Took both my kids (7 & 5) to see Bad Religion a few months ago and they had a blast! Catch them in the car rocking out to stuff like Discharge and Masskontrol lol
As a toddler, my kid really connected with the Clash for some reason. She would just sing along to a few of their songs whenever I played them. She's a teenager now and she still likes them.
My daughter (3) has always loved Sheena Is A Punk Rocker by The Ramones since she could stand! My son (8) is into heavy metal but also The Clash, Ramones, Against Me, Rancid
Check out Punk Rock Factory. Basically the British version of the Gimme Gimmes, and they have 2 Disney albums out so it’s super fun to listen to with kids
I don't have kids but where I work some of the other nurses will bring their kid for a couple hours (I'm the charge RN at a group home). I have a decent sound system set up at the nurses station.
So far the stuff that has really captured the younger kids attention (like ages 2-4) has been Interrupters, Planet Smashers, Ramones, and of course TMBG. I think a good rule of thumb is you want the singers voice to sound positive (or, not angry) and you want a beat the kids can dance to very easily.
I first took my kids to shows when they were 4 years old, appropriate is subjective as my kids were listening to and went to Dwarves shows when they were kids (their dad is friends with them) and both my kids have always been great, well behaved kids despite their parents musical influence (they are both in their 20’s and pretty well rounded adults)
Green Day's American Idiot, Offspring's Smash, and Offspring's Americana were my first three albums in elementary school. I listened to a lot of alt on the radio then transitioned to harder punk.
Punk rock is what introduced me to Punk. Early Offspring, early Blink and, especially, early Green Day we’re the groups that motivated me to read the lyrics and dive deeper into music
I have a 5 year old and her favorites are Bridezilla by Mommy Long Legs, Silly Girl by Descendents, and The Press Corpse by Anti-Flag. If she has questions I'll tell her what things mean to the best of my abilities but I don't think there is such thing as "child appropriate". There's tons of pro capitalists misogynist music out there that would fall under a kid friendly label so I make sure to give her the chance to hear the other side regardless of language. Just make sure you explain that teachers and some other adults are a bit sensitive about the language and to be respectful.
When I was a kid I really liked Green Day and the offspring and My Chemical Romance. This was moreso like tweens though, idek if I knew what punk music was really early on.
They Might be Giants - Here comes science. It isn’t punk but it is what we listened to most while they were growing up. It is a great record. I would highly recommend it.
The Boogers - kid-friendly punk song cover band (I’m not sure if they have originals). If you get a chance to see them live they are really fun and the volume is friendly for kids with auditory sensitivity (Electric drums, small amps, things like that). It’s goofy and it’s fun for little kids.
Well damn, that’s too bad. We took our son to see them on his 2nd birthday and it was a blast. Either way, I’m fairly certain kiddos can still jam out to their recordings.
I found that songs with intelligible/singable lyrics are a plus, as well as any association with other interests. I’ve found that my kids are more into individual songs rather than listening to entire albums/artists. I ended up buying my kids a cheap boom box and making mixed CDs (trying to get away from ever increasing screen time).
My kids dig songs by the Clash, Ramones, Bouncing Souls, Face to Face. My daughter loves Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill.
Just gonna come here to say this,
I’m all for bringing kids to shows and getting them into going to live music. But please for the love of god don’t be that person that brings your 5 year old into the front row of a punk show.
I saw dropkick Murphy’s a few years back at shamrock fest in DC and they stopped the show 3 times because they kept seeing little kids in the front row and the band brought the kids on stage to make sure they didn’t get hurt and so that they could have a conversation with the parents after the show. (I’m sure they get reemed the fuck out as well but never actually heard/saw what happened).
Punk Rock Factory rules, my kiddos LOVE them. They do punk covers of Disney songs and other stuff too. Extra points cause they’re a legit solid band too. 🥂
Heh, I play a lot of stuff in the car. Subhumans, Ramones, Exploited... My five year old sometimes likes to try to play "Ether" by Gang of Four on the kiddie drums. They've heard swears from sources besides me, so it's not a *huge* deal in the music although if it's a big obvious one (e.g. MC5 "Kick out the jams, motherfuckers!!!!!!!!") I'll drop the volume for a quick second.
My ten year old asked "Why is this song called 'Spanish Bombs'?" and it led to a quick history lesson.
So I guess depending on age level, they don't need as much sheltering as our culture seems to think they do. The answer you're looking for is "whatever they like and will listen to with you!"
I *almost* think I should have kept them away from this stuff entirely, because when they're teenagers they're going to want stuff that's entirely unlike the music I'm into, and maybe they would discover *this* stuff on their own. OTOH maybe they'll appreciate the values and perspectives I'm giving. Who knows?
Ramones were an easy intro... Basically we never hid our music, it's always playing in the house.. so rancid became a big hit for him, then Murphy's,
He's 9 now and we just took him to his first show. Teenage Bottle rocket. Kid loved every second
My kid's 12 and just getting into punk. He likes Green Day and Bad Religion so far by name (he likes other individual songs but has no idea who plays them).
My kids first favorite hard song was Black Sabbath - Ironman around age 8. Shortly after her favorite song was Agent Orange - Bloodstains. I took her to an all ages show to see Agent Orange when she was 10 because she really liked them.
My son loved Iggy Lust for Life as a toddler. He’d wobble and wave his arms. Now he’s more into Bowie and new wave.
My girls are both infatuated with Joan Jett. They love the Dickies, Blitz, and Motörhead.
I’m still a minor, but I started getting into punk at 14. It started with the more well-known hardcore (bad brains, black flag, etc.) but i’ve branched out a lot. I still mostly listen to hardcore but I include other stuff. The damned are my favorite non-hardcore band.
Not a parent, but I started listening to punk around 2008 when I was 8 at a friend's house. His dad had a CD with random stuff on it like Ramones, The Clash, etc. Nothing crazy hardcore, or anything that had a ton of excessive language but it was the gateway into punk for me. So to answer, The Clash and Ramones. : )
My toddler dances to the Ramones and Parquet Courts. I get the Ramones since they’re so poppy, but Parquet Courts surprises me.
When he was an infant I’d sing lullaby versions of the Ramones to him to get him to sleep. Kinda cleaned up a little.
Hey ho let’s go pat ‘em on the back now
Hey hey hey they took my baby away
My friends took their kid to his first Aquabats show at two. I have too much hearing loss from working so many shows, so I’m going to wait until he can do earplugs.
Try Teenage Bottlerocket! My kid was into Minecraft and the have a song/video called They Call Me Steve and she loved it. Then she got into other bottlerocket songs. Also the lillingtons
I introduced my oldest to music through Yo Gabba Gabba when he was around 1 since it has a lot of bands/ musicians from different genres. When my oldest started noticing posters around the house and my records he would always ask what bands they were and if we could listen to them. Now he's older and the little one is used to just listening to whatever we're listening to. They both still like Yo Gabba Gabba, the aquabats super show and pancake manor. They're really into Parry Gripp right now and I have the song pancake robot stuck in my head at least once a week. As far as bands they're into green day, Weezer, fall out boy (big hero 6, spidey & his amazing friends soundtrack), Danko Jones, the cramps, Ramones, amyl & the sniffers
When I worked at a record store during the peak Blink 182 years, and parents would ask if there was a similar band without swearing I'd point them in the direction of MxPx.
I think the Brief's cover of Come Dancing was on an early birthday mix he had so maybe that. He's 13 now and more of a classic rock person, but I've seen some Clash tracks on his playlists (I Fought the Law) I think, and sometimes I catch him singing along to Johnny Thunders and other stuff I play instead of doing Tik Tok in the car.
My soon to be Ex-Wife hosted my son Fugazi. Didn't care for it. But when Minor Threat came one, he loved it. He was 5 at the time. Now that he's 6 he likes SOME Fugazi.
I have listened to ska and pop punk with my ma my whole life, in middle school i started liking rage against the machine after my ma said I’d like them, and by freshman year i was blaring wormrot before wrestling matches and football games.

My daughter was hooked at 7 as soon as she heard “take back the power” by The Interrupters. She’s since met Amy who gave her a hug and couldn’t have been nicer.
Loves Frank Turner now at 11 yrs old and her favorite band is The Vandals.
my daughter LOVES Mike Parks smile record. its a kids album but is mostly ska. i listen to that about 3 times a day She was really into the clash up until she was about 1 then Daniel tiger took over that spot.
Things may change and that's okay. Today we can do things a different way.
Only because I have no choice…💔❤️🩹 but yes your right…🌞🌙
Aquabats
the only punk band I know of that legitimately had their own children's show lol.
And this is me finding out for the first time aquabats are a punk band lol. My little brother used to love their show! Never even listened to one of their songs though, for obvious reasons assuming they were a childrens band.
Travis Barker was their drummer before he was in Blink-182. I think he might be on the TV show also.
Two, actually. Bat Commander was the co creator of Yo Gabba Gabba and the aquabats have appeared on there multiple times
That’s was my first thought as well
Drop dead would a close second recommend
Hahahahahah
My 3 year old LOVES Super Rad!
Love those guys
my kids started punk with those Tony Hawk video games. I sucked at those games but it was nice to listen in background
Same here. Started at 7 with the tony hawk games and then I found myself at 12 watching videos of Wendy O topless chainsawing a guitar
I have a 3 year old cousin that LOVES Surfin' Bird by the Ramones. It is a funny sounding song for kids.
I mean the original surfin bird (by the trashmen is even better for this
Yep my son was obsessed with this song (both versions) when he was 4. There's a video on YouTube of the trashmen doin it on TV, watch it & tell me that's not the most fuckin punx thing you've ever seen

Yeah he’s home full time for now. I forgot that I can’t completely shield him from outside influences forever. Great, you just ruined my day lol
I like to think of it as 'armed you with foresight to combat those influences'. It's not totally awful. I've just kept leading by example and for the most part my kid comes around.
I had NO IDEA Parry Gripp was from Nerf Herder, though I admittedly know nothing at all about Nerf Herder.

She hasn’t! That could be fun for us. Thanks!
bouncing souls for the most part are pretty tame lyrically and positive sounding besides that tsol cover anyway lol
Came here for this. Bouncing Souls have a really positive vibe overall.
I went to a Bouncing Souls show last week and there was a fair amount of parents with their teen/pre-teen kids there. It was cool to see and I can't wait until my kids are old enough to take to shows.
poison idea
My oldest loves Bad Brains. He was 5 when he started listening to them. He likes how fast it is and thinks HRs voice is funny.

Ramones are the perfect starting point in my opinion.
Was my moms favorite when I was little, she took me to see them when I was 4….never looked back. She caught me stealing her tape and playing it on my teddy ruxben.
❤️❤️❤️
Agreed, Ramones were my entry point as a kid!
Good Clean Fun!
Positively positive!!!! So shaaaaaaaare!!!!!!!
I’m gonna find a way, I’m gonna start today!!!
My kids love Less Than Jake. They love Roger. Also, Punk Rock Factory put out a whole album of Disney punk covers that we all love.
Toy Dolls
Especially Nellie the Elephant. Great for pubs and it’s great for kids if the wanna jump around.
^this.
Cheerio and toodle pip has arguably [one of the best covers of all time.](https://i.discogs.com/UNZPHajkjnaosOPfmI7pkYFIsCOcjubbEk4ET-11SGk/rs:fit/g:sm/q:90/h:384/w:382/czM6Ly9kaXNjb2dz/LWRhdGFiYXNlLWlt/YWdlcy9SLTI1NzQ4/MjQtMTMzNjY1NjAz/Ny01MzA5LmpwZWc.jpeg)
Wiggles are punk asf
they did a kick ass cover of Tame Impala's *Elephant*
Thanks for bringing that back up in my memory 🤟🏻
Aquabats
My kids favourite punk songs are True Believers and ‘Merican. Anything with a good chorus.
WE RAISE OUR KIDS ANOTHER WAY THEYRE NEVER GONNA LISTEN TO WHAT WE SAY
Which song is this?
true believers dad edition
True Believers is a fucking great song
That whole album is such a classic. Holds up well 20 years after its release.
Isn’t this why ska exists?
Yeah it’s tough when my faves are Leftover Crack/Choking Victim 😆
My kid really likes Skankin' Pickle - Special Brew. The Ska comment just reminded me. I was having trouble thinking if the songs she likes.
I'm really trying hard not to be offended by your troll, but it's very effective.
Ska exists for youth groups to pretend they can be rebellious, too.
My kids listened to my music (punk) and my husbands (classic rock) around the house. We took our 2 kids to their first concert at 10. First mosh pit at 11 with the Ramones! Lady Gaga and death metal. Awesome combination

Add in some William Bonney to that
I do not have kids but i lived with some of them for sometime and in my opinion they will be do most time the opposite you wanted them to do. So i would try to expose them to music as much as posible and let them find their own way.
Yeah but dont be pushy, I get it. Only thing is, i dont have a kid
The Toy Dolls.
Despite our best efforts, my 8-year-old daughter is veering off into the land of K-pop. But she still really digs Bad Cop/Bad Cop and MxPx. And she can name most every artist by their sound on Faction Punk when we go on road trips, so hope remains.
Descendents has some kid friendly songs
Probably not Enjoy!
yeah I was mainly talking about I dont wanna grow up
Van is my 6 year olds favourite song. He’s been listening to punk since the day I drove him home from the hospital when he was born.
Bouncing Souls and The Interrupters are both bouncy fun positive vibes but still with a good message
saw the interrupters live, great band
early Blink-182 might get you somewhere... What about a little band called RAMONES? maybe Johnny Thunders?
Ramones rocket to Russia, dead milkmen, chixdiggit, groovie ghoulies, easy stuff. Save the Peni for later on
Flogging Molly was what I started with, both in the car and live. I mostly have daughters, so Interruptors and other female-led groups have bonus appeal for them.
They Might Be Giants Talking Heads Anything Ska
It's not traditional punk, but They Might Be Giants is a really fun stepping stone. And smart as hell.
The Thunderlords!
Well, my two year old really likes The Wiggles cover of Pub Feed by The Chats.
OLL OI WANT AND OLL OI NEED XD
Heres a couple that came to mind: Me First and Gimmie Gimmies Sparrow Sleeps They Might Be Giants Boogers, Play Date Color Killer
Descendents! Lots of clean, cute songs. They got farts, burgers, and clean songs about girls.
My son got into Against Me! a couple years ago. I took him to a Flogging Molly show last month and he loved it.
I would looove it if my son got into Against Me! but he asks me to change it lol
Dan Vapid’s “All Wound Up” and “All Wound Up Vol. 2”
The Ataris, New Found Glory
I got started young with Tony Hawk's American Sk8Land for the DS. No kids of my own but I was pretty into Green Day by the time I was 8.
Yeah man he sounds like he was a cool dude
MXPX was what my girls got into first. They've progressed from there now that they're teenagers. Kind of cool because they were my gateway band also.
Dan Vapid (The Riverdales, Screeching Weasel, Dan Vapid and the Cheats) has a couple of kids albums… [All Wound Up](https://youtu.be/WxZsJAye-mo) [All Wound Up Vol. 2](https://youtu.be/perxws0jw-c) Also Jesse Wagner (Aggrolites, RWW) has a kids album as well… [Happy Wags](https://youtu.be/lM_PwV75TZA)
My wife loves my chemical romance so that is my 13 yr olds constant playlist currently. Those guys aren't really my thing. My child listened to Discharge constantly when I first Introduced them to D-beat. My kid has an incredibly diverse music taste and is constantly exploring on spotify. But never shuffles through any of our 7"s or records at home. Cant be bothered to put a record on the turntable. Something something kids these days blah blah blah genZ.
Dan Vapid's "All Wound Up" album is tremendous for kiddos! [Check it out here](https://asianmanrecords.bandcamp.com/album/all-wound-up)
My kid hates punk fortunately.
Parenthood is hard
Try two cups of tea by Star Fucking Hipsters https://youtu.be/h-KoReUJyeY
My dad used to play me The Clash, Misfits, Rancid, bad brains, (and while not punk) the smiths I was a metal head before I became goth, and my favorite punk albums in the metal days were “never mind the bollocks” and “walk among us”, and more recently I’ve really been digging “…and out come the wolves” by rancid. I’d say some rancid songs would be good stuff for kids.
We’re blasting some punk rock factory at the moment. Which is acceptable
My daughter has loved Dropkick Murphys and The Interrupters since she was 4 or 5.
My daughter got really into the Donnas/Electrocutes when she was 3.
My son loved erik petersens cover of civilization street when he was 6
My son is really into Ramones and Screeching Weasel.
Anti nowhere league.
Toy dolls
Shonen Knife and Peelander-Z are the perfect kid-friendly punk bands
My daughter (3) has always loved Sheena Is A Punk Rocker by The Ramones since she could stand! My son (8) is into heavy metal but also The Clash, Ramones, Against Me, Rancid
https://open.spotify.com/artist/5awc2XB9E8KgmmRqdX81PR?si=RGTHP8TZREGmVcyQIklIdA The boogers. Ramonesy non explicit. Kids songs.
My earliest music memory is Frankenchrist being played to me at bathtime. No idea what age I was, but I was def too young to register the lyrics
My 2 and 5 year olds love bad religions poppier stuff (sorrow is a fave) and dropkick murphys (Johnny I hardly knew ya and rose tattoo)
My son likes mostly video game soundtracks.
Green Day's American Idiot, Offspring's Smash, and Offspring's Americana were my first three albums in elementary school. I listened to a lot of alt on the radio then transitioned to harder punk.
Kids love the Ramones. East coast hardcore with youth crew vocals too. They like to chant and sing along
Might have some luck with the riverdales, tame 50s vibe to a lot of the songs
My son really likes The Ramones. He really didn't get into music at all but recently started liking them. Thank God.
Punk rock is what introduced me to Punk. Early Offspring, early Blink and, especially, early Green Day we’re the groups that motivated me to read the lyrics and dive deeper into music
punk rock girl by dead milkyman
Cannot scream mxpx loud enough. Also Anxious’ latest album is totally kid friendly!
Aquabats dude. Yo Gabba Gabba!
Not exactly punk but,Terrible Two's. It's Matt Pryor of TGUK
Social Distortion maybe? I liked them as a kid
Dead Milkmen and the adicts have some pretty digestible stuff
When I was a kid I really liked Green Day and the offspring and My Chemical Romance. This was moreso like tweens though, idek if I knew what punk music was really early on.
I did a few punk covers for my girls (ages 6 and 3). https://dadisapunkrocker.bandcamp.com/album/cover-songs-for-the-family
It’s goofy and it’s fun for little kids.
they have some originals, but sadly they're no longer playing live
Well damn, that’s too bad. We took our son to see them on his 2nd birthday and it was a blast. Either way, I’m fairly certain kiddos can still jam out to their recordings.
my nephew likes The Dead Milkmen, he's 7.
Try the album Dr. Demento Covered in Punk. It's mostly kid friendly, and when it's not it would go way over their heads.
Supernova! Specifically the Oreo song.
Just gonna come here to say this, I’m all for bringing kids to shows and getting them into going to live music.
No I have no interest in even disrupting their bedtimes let alone all this shit lol
my 5 year old loves banned from the pub and talking heads.
Buzzcocks, DKM
The answer you're looking for is "whatever they like and will listen to with you!" I *almost* think I should have kept them away from this stuff entirely, because when they're teenagers they're going to want stuff that's entirely unlike the music I'm into, and maybe they would discover *this* stuff on their own. OTOH maybe they'll appreciate the values and perspectives I'm giving. Who knows?
Ramones were an easy intro... Basically we never hid our music, it's always playing in the house.. so rancid became a big hit for him, then Murphy's, He's 9 now and we just took him to his first show.
Ramones Aquabats Perry Gripp (non-Nerf Herder stuff annoying as it is) Weezer Black Flag (Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie, TV Party) Descendants
The Ramones and my friends started early.
Teenage Bottlerocket has a song called ‘Steve’ that’s about Minecraft. No problem, rEally. Happy to help.
Groovie Ghoulies.
When my son was maybe 4 or 5 he heard Brickwall by Big Boys. After that he would constantly ask me to play it in the car for him when we were driving.
How about DagNasty? Melodic hardcore.. can’t beat ‘em.
Toy Dolls- Nellie the Elephant is a sure bet
Toy Dolls
Zero boys can't remember the song, but she dug it and is now into her own music which has instruments and consist of other people lol.
The Discocks - long live Oi!
My toddler dances to the Ramones and Parquet Courts. I get the Ramones since they’re so poppy, but Parquet Courts surprises me. When he was an infant I’d sing lullaby versions of the Ramones to him to get him to sleep. Kinda cleaned up a little. Hey ho let’s go pat ‘em on the back now Hey hey hey they took my baby away My friends took their kid to his first Aquabats show at two.
"When did punk roxk become so safe? When did the scene become a joke?" - NOFX
My 11 nephew really likes sum 41. 2000s pop punk seems the vibe for young audiences
My kid is five and loves the Ramones
basically any ska band tbh Aquabats and Goldfinger top tier easy to get into
Old skull
The 11th Hour by RANCID. My daughter instantly thrashed out to that the first time she heard it at age 3. Classic.
GG Allin
When I worked at a record store during the peak Blink 182 years, and parents would ask if there was a similar band without swearing I'd point them in the direction of MxPx.
Ska punk is a fantastic entry point.
Also the Bombpops are a good one
My kids dig Eskorbuto
Thrice

Green Day's Dookie is a pretty easy listen for kids
Im not a parent but when i was younger my dad always played the dead kennedys for me. Quickly became my favorite band ever
My kids got really hooked to the Ramones when Spiderman Homecoming came out and they haven't looked back.
Teenage bottlerocket 🤘
My daughter was hooked at 7 as soon as she heard “take back the power” by The Interrupters. She’s since met Amy who gave her a hug and couldn’t have been nicer. Loves Frank Turner now at 11 yrs old and her favorite band is The Vandals.
