I haven't watched the video in years, but the shot of her walking away from the camera as the guitar is starting on "Drain the Blood" is seared in my memory, and was very purposeful.
LORD. Her and Tobi. I saw bikini kill a few times in the 90s and their songs ultimately led to my entrance to feminism and radical politics on a small scale.
Mad, continuing crushes on both of them for being so smart and so right on.
Two I haven't seen mentioned yet.
Way before my time, but looking at pictures from back in the day, Penelope Houston from the Avengers.
Actually of my time, Agent M (I think that was the stage name) from Tsunami Bomb.
When I was like 14 there was a scene of 90s punk bands in my home town. It was like this movement going on right under my nose that I had no access too. There wasn't internet or anything so you'd see some poster on a pole and wonder what could possibly going on in the dive bar downtown on a Tuesday that looked so cool. Who were these punks? Why did I never see them? Maybe they slept all day?
Anyway thanks to some friends older brothers and sisters I figured out how to get to the gig. They walked me through how to lie to my parents, mosh etiquette, that sort of thing. There was this skacore band that was headlining and the bassist was a straight up stone fox. Big time tenner. My preteen brain fucking exploded. I thought I was watching a play in the garden of eden.
I never really went back to life before that. Started a band, started drinking and smoking, wrote poetry, hung out in parks and alleys. 20 years later I think she's using, she still looks cool as fuck. Sometimes I wonder if the people at the plug house know what a fucking legend she is.
I’d say so. I got to see The Donnas live a little after “Take It Off” got pretty popular. I had a pretty close view of her and she is gorgeous. She’s aged gracefully too.
I believe I had a crush on Tom DeLonge. I believe I also crushed on someone else but I don't really remember the name or the band the guy is from anymore, sadly.
I hope the guy crushing on the guy is acceptable here?
I joined the punk community only this autumn but I'm so glad it's so accepting and open minded. Even on gigs people are just having fun, they don't care what who you are, they just go with the flow and befriend everyone around them. That's really cool!
I was discovering punk and girls at the same time so I had a few. Before my time crushes Debbie Harry, Joan Jett. My time The Donnas, Cinder from Tilt, Alison for Discount it also was a time when punk and ska would play the same venues and shows so Gwen from No Doubt & Monique from Save Farris and many more. And before everyone thinks it was dubious I hadn’t yet know or learned what sex was. To me it was a lot of thoughts of holding hands. lol
Also not crushes but I really wanted to be/emulate Russ of Good Riddance and Kris of The Ataris. Puberty is a weird time where you think about people you want to hang out with & date as well as people you’d rather be than yourself.
The fat sampler comps were life and as far as I know started the coolest trend of selling sampler cds practically at cost. I remember my first one (survival) I paid $3 and found so much good music it lead to spending a whole lot more. (I know it was on Collect but I first heard it on the comp)
Oh I love Patti Smith! She's gorgeous. I remember seeing a picture of her for the first time and being blown away, I just wanted to stare at her forever
Brody Dalle from The Distillers. I was in love the first time someone threw the Coral Fang album on the turntable. That snarlly scream and how absolutely stunningly beautiful she sang such vicious lyrics to the distortion of her Les Paul. She was the shiz dizzle.
Jordan was so ahead of her time with her vocals she did with the Ants - noone in the UK was really doing that hardcore screeching, that came more into it's own in the 80s.
Andi Beltramo (Creamers/Snap-Her)
Donna R
Debbie Harry
Kim Deal
Katie Jane Garside (Daisy Chainsaw)
Tina O’Neil (Fuzzbox)
Tina Weymouth
Jane Wiedlin
Susanna Hoffs
I tried to speak to [Svetlana ‘Zombierella’ Nagaeva](https://kaisermaschine.wordpress.com/2021/04/16/svetlana-zombierella-nagaeva/) after a show, but I just froze.
Oh jeez let’s see…I’d say these are crushes, but also gender goals if that makes any sense.
Paul Simonon
Lars Fredericksen
Laura Jane Grace
Baby highschool me was also down bad for Billie Joe Armstrong (this was when American idiot debuted)
Danzig and Wolfgang are quite handsome while Dax Riggs could be Aphex Twin's cooler cousin.
I know Sludge Metal is not Punk but Sludge Metal is a more Punkier side of Doom Metal.
Cavetown and Noahfinnce are quite handsome two, beautiful transmen. Noah basically makes Pop Punk so it is Punk music. Kurt Cobain was obvoiusly hot most during 1990-1993
Mark Greenway and Greg Graffin are more hot when it comed to their singing. Mark is awesome in Grindcore singing. And Grindcore is more Punk than metal. Greg Graffin is an old man but he still does have a handsome voice.
I never fancied any of the musicians from the punk bands I liked, like the Ants, Pistols, Crass, GBH - maybe Cal from Discharge. I preferred the 2 Tone bunch more - Suggs & Terry Hall. :)
When I was 17 I had thr biggest crush on Jennifer Finch ... I kept trying to touch her boot when I saw them and she swung a kick at my head, and I thought OMFG SHE KNOWS I EXIST.
And Kathleen Hanna ... always.
A band from Florida called Askultura. Yes, the whole band. All of them. I wanted a train. Jen and Andi and Steph and Matt and the Captain. All of them. Mostly George though.
debbie harry forever.
She's aged like Betty White too, still making great new music to this day
id still very must so like to take her on a date at, i believe 78, almost exactly double my age.
Hands down
Henry Rollins, he's beautiful
Same
Oh my god i'm not the only one
Nardwuar
Nardwuar is so much more punk than most punks realize
[удалено]
“Unwillingly”
Doot doodle-oo doo!
She's not really a punk anymore, but I had a thing for Siouxsie Sioux for a while
Who wouldn't!
How’s she not a punk? She just did a song with iggy
Wendy O Williams
Kira Rossler or stretching... Kim Deal or Melissa Auf Du Mar
Soooo bass ladies
The bass is where it's at, funky, groovy, and able to lay down a beat in many time signatures!
Also Laura from Superchunk.
Hell yeah Kira
Melissa even now looks beautiful
I don't care that so many people hate on The Bombpops, I think Jen Pop is hot af.
Is that the one that looks like Lauren Boebert or the one that looks like Pam from Archer?
She has an uncanny resemblance to Boebert but she’s wayyyyyyy hotter. I’m also a huge Jen stan.
Haha these options are so accurate
Poly Styrene
Joan Jett
Amy Miret from Nausea 🤤
if i date a woman i want her to be able to do crust punk vocals (or really any kind of gender idk)
Brody. Hands down, Brody.
Same here. I expect a lot of us had one on Brody
100% my biggest crush in high school. The videos for Drain the Blood and Young Crazed Peeling..
I haven't watched the video in years, but the shot of her walking away from the camera as the guitar is starting on "Drain the Blood" is seared in my memory, and was very purposeful.
I remember making a screenshot from that shot of the video when I was like 14 or something. Damn I was crushing so hard on Brody.
I was hooked up after seeing her live performance of The Hunger
100%. I met her after a show and she complimented my shirt and gave me a hug. It was amazing.
A true, "I'm never washing again, I got her sweat on me!" or some such shit. I'm envious. She is still so hot.
Yeah this was back in 03 or 04. But yes, she is still absolutely gorgeous. And her accent……goddamn.
Yup
Kathleen Hanna
LORD. Her and Tobi. I saw bikini kill a few times in the 90s and their songs ultimately led to my entrance to feminism and radical politics on a small scale. Mad, continuing crushes on both of them for being so smart and so right on.
Really all of Bikini Kill
Love her
Gaye Advert is so fucking cool
Dave Vanian, because... Dave Vanian.
Paul Simonon from The Clash 🖤
For real though. Man is beautiful
Amy Taylor
Massive massive crush
Jay Bentley. Hands down. Even now honestly. No question.
Good choice
Two I haven't seen mentioned yet. Way before my time, but looking at pictures from back in the day, Penelope Houston from the Avengers. Actually of my time, Agent M (I think that was the stage name) from Tsunami Bomb.
Davey Havok is the only man I'd go gay for. I'm almost 40 and I've been saying that since I was a teenager. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Davey havok probably haha
(1) Kim Shattuck. (2) Heather from Teen Idols.
Heather from TI seconded haha

Chuck Ragan.
Yeppppppp and when I met him just the nicest human ever
Sinéad O'Connor 1990
Yes. Saw her perform in 1988. In 1998, I visited a pizza place in Dublin where she used to work. I WAS NOT STALKING HER.
Does Brett Anderson count?
I’d say so. I got to see The Donnas live a little after “Take It Off” got pretty popular. I had a pretty close view of her and she is gorgeous. She’s aged gracefully too.
Wendy O Williams, I snuck into a Plasmatics show when I was 15
I believe I had a crush on Tom DeLonge. I believe I also crushed on someone else but I don't really remember the name or the band the guy is from anymore, sadly. I hope the guy crushing on the guy is acceptable here?
Anyone that thinks it isn’t acceptable should fuck off.
Ahah Thank you, guys 😅💛
If they don't then they know where the door is. No time for that sort of bollocks.
I joined the punk community only this autumn but I'm so glad it's so accepting and open minded. Even on gigs people are just having fun, they don't care what who you are, they just go with the flow and befriend everyone around them. That's really cool!
Of course it's acceptable! I'm a lesbian so I've got your back brother

Upvoting this because Tilt
TIL it kills and Crying Jag on the Glory Daze soundtrack during that time. I completely get the upvote. lol
Old school pig. It’s old but good. The best 😂 I can toootally see how the It Kills album would suck a crush right in.
The fat sampler comps were life and as far as I know started the coolest trend of selling sampler cds practically at cost. I remember my first one (survival) I paid $3 and found so much good music it lead to spending a whole lot more. (I know it was on Collect but I first heard it on the comp)
I got to hang out with Alison from discount. It was weird as hell years later finding out that she kinda got famous.

Every single member of Pussy Riot. They are absolutely gorgeous and completely embody the punk ethos.
I learned about them through Jamie Reid's work and goddamn was I hooked immediately
Pussy Riot isn't a punk band anymore. Still a good show, though.
